Welcome to Gaia! ::

I'm pro-choice, personally. But I believe there needs to be a limit on abortion for non-medical reasons. I know it varies with state in the US, but in the UK it's currently 24 weeks. Looking at that info though, I believe it should be lower - more like 20 weeks, before you have to do really invasive icky surgery... well, really, it was the mention of having to remove the foetus' brain that did it for me O_o If it's old enough to have a brain then, viable or not, I think I'd consider it alive.

"Brain activity is around 20 weeks, and heart development around 10 weeks. Partial-birth abortions are outlawed in the US. There were quite a few reports from abortees who felt the fetus move during the whole process and it freaked them out. Rather than get sued, they outlawed partial birth abortions."
I agree that the surgical procedure descriptions were really making me sick. But when I read the one for the 20+ weeks and full term or something like that, I just remembered that a woman by then would have noticed the baby and most likely not give it up for abortion, but rather birth it and either raise it or put it up for adoption. I think they only have that method for women who it is life threatening to birth a baby or something (cancer patient, perhaps)

I don't think any states in America allow you to abort the baby after that long.
question- whats the percentage of chance to to pregnant again after you've had a kid to before you have one?

because i had amazing chances before and i kind of want to know mine now.
Who knows. Does it matter? Can't you just do it until you get a kid?

lol it does.

it took 5 years of unprotected sex for me to get pregnant.
so i had amazing odds.
i just wanted to compare the percents (doesnt matter even though i cant get pregnant again, but id still love to know)
I looked it up and couldn't find anything for you. But I'm guessing your chances are as good as any, perhaps ask your OBGYN? They'd have a better answer for you.

How come you can't get pregnant? If you don't mind my curiosity
husband got a vasectomy last month
Oh, yea.

I guess that means only 1 kid for you then?

Two guys getting married? Where do they live? Or do you mean civil union?
@Harlot:
Wow--unprotected sex for 5 years? That is insane...

But, it's cool that you're going to be a surrogate mother. How will you explain it to your son when he's older, though?
