Does it matter if your bf/gf is older/younger that you???

i was watching TV this morning and i saw something about this famous person
dating a young boy at the age of 21 and the girl was 40 something years old.

do you think the age difference in relationships matter??
Maturity matters.
My boyfriend is older by a year and a month.. I like older men. So it don't really matter to me unless their like 21+.
I don't think it matters. Except if one is a teenager and the other is an adult.
I dated older guys but i dated one that was yonger than me. I have a guy friend who has dated and older girl.

The 40 something is only dating the 21 year old to make herself feel younger xp I find that guys younger than me are too immature for me.

Dapper Man-Lover

As long as both members of the relationship are of the legal Age of Consent, then no, the age doesn't really matter; just the maturity.

For the record, I'm 19 (and male) and my boyfriend is 41. We get along wonderfully and are currently living together.

It's like a sliding scale. When you're in your teens or early twenties, five to ten years is a lot. But when you're in your thirties or forties, ten years is nothing.

Everyone has their own sense of what's "right" for them, what they prefer, etc., and society has its own sense.

I think when you're in your teens you're not really fully "mature" enough to handle dating someone more than 10 years older than you. I'm no exception; I claimed myself to be a very mature teenager, but, I wouldn't date someone that much older than me. It just seems a little weird on that older person's end; at 30, can't you find someone a LITTLE closer to your age than 16? (Ignoring the obvious legal troubles, of course.) That's just me personally; I've known plenty of people who have done it, and I'm not knocking it -- if you do it, or want to, or whatever, fine. But most people I've known who did do it had it end very terribly. ;x

Really, it's just a matter of perspective. A 30 year old dating a 42 year old ... fine. But that same 12 year gap -- 8 versus 20? 14 versus 26? Those are questionable.

Personally, I'm a year and a half older than my boyfriend. He just turned 20, I'm turning 22 in June. That's not so bad.

My husband is younger than me by 10 months O.o

but really age shouldn't matter between consenting adults.

It depends. 21 and 40 doesn't necisarrily depeding on the persons involved. Most 21 yr olds want to party and are struggling througe college, while a 40 yr old has a career and probably has put all their partying days behind them. Not a good match. So it would not work in that case unless this 21 yr old was not a partier and exceptionally mature for her age.

The maturaty diffrence between 18 and 21 is huge as well. A highschool kid living a home with mom and dad couldn't relate much to a college student who is most likely living all on their own.

OMG! what about when you're 41 and he's 64, got diabetes, high blood pressure, using a walker, getting ready to apply for social security, and needs viagra for his once-a-week; but you're still young, healthy, and in your sexual prime? I see a divorce.

You have to consider that sort of future when you look at an age difference that big.
maturity matters most..i think biggrin (not so much the age)
As long as they aren't a teenager, or over the age of consent, I don't care.

But, teenagers should only date other teenagers. And, they should be in the same school as you.

The maturity difference between even an 8th grader and and freshman can be huge.

The 14 year old kids who claim they are on the same maturity level as their 22 year old boyfriend need to realize that even if they are on the same maturity level, something is wrong.
