Welcome to Gaia! ::

What is your opinion on porn? Do you think it's in some way driven our society downward? Helped fuel disgusting fetishes? Somehow sinful?

I work as a nude model on several alt-porn sites (like Suicide Girls, although I don't work for them because their contract is s**t) and also run my own website. My roommate is also a fairly big name in the porn industry and makes several grand a month. I am thinking about getting into video work, since I live in the porn capital of the world and they make upward of 120 grand per year. Plus I like sex, and I am having sex anyway, why not film it and get paid? EXACTLY.

Anyway, what are your opinions on it? I don't think it's an inherently evil thing, although I do think with the internet, that several fetishes have been publicized that really should have just remained buried. Mostly I blame Japan. Goddamn Japan! Maybe if you just let your people see an actual d**k or nipples your artists wouldn't come up with such horribly disgusting fetishes.

Mostly I think porn is beneficial, it helps people who would not be able to otherwise find sexual satisfaction, and let's face it - sex is the most natural thing in the world. It's mostly only religious influence that is trying to make it look evil. Sex is awesome, every animal on the planet does it, it's the most naturally good feeling you can get, and as long as you are safe and smart about it...it's really, really difficult for it to be dangerous. Unless you're an idiot. And ******** those people anyway, who cares what happens to idiots?

I find it interesting that you seem to both be porn-positive and feel "your kink is not okay; it's not my kink".
You also seem to buy into the idea that only people who are incapable of getting action enjoy pornography.
I love porn.
It's the best sex I can have without getting preggo. surprised

I had no idea pornstars made so much money. That's pretty awesome.
I think porn sets up an unrealistic standard for men and women... I don't agree with it at all. I think sex is natural, but watching sex is not. That is a form of deviant behavior. Gratz for being proud of your profession, but being rude because other people don't agree is dumb. If you work in a highly controversial area, prepare to get judged.

Porn is my bestest buddie in the whole wide world.

I have a really deep respect for porn stars. My cousin was one before a guy she worked with in a porno (that she still refuses to tell me the name of) asked her to direct a movie he had written the screen play for.
Now she's retired, practically wiping her a** with Benjamin ******** Franklin.

I didn't say only people who can't get action enjoy porn, I said it's beneficial to them. Obviously tons and tons of people enjoy porn or there wouldn't be such a huge market for it.

And there are SOME kinks I do think should have stayed buried, yes. With the internet, people who have some dark deep fetish that they were afraid to tell anyone (hey, I'm a child molester! Hey, I like snuff! Hey, I want to s**t down your throat and then you s**t down mine and then we will s**t on another girl and s**t s**t s**t) - when they are able to talk about it anonymously on the internet, and maybe find a handful of people who are also into the same thing, they tend to think it is more normal. And it's not. Really. I don't think porn is a bad thing, but yes, I DO think that in some ways it has been harmful as a whole.

Actually watching sex is a natural thing. Porn has been around for centuries in some way or another, drawings of breasts and vaginas sketched into stone in fact. It is something that triggers a huge portion of the population for a sexual stimulant. It is just as natural as having sex itself.

Looking at naked bodies and looking at two people ******** are two different concepts. The human form is beautiful, but I am still going to have to respectfully disagree. It is not normative behavior to watch people ******** (voyeurism). Just because it's been around for hundreds of years, doesn't make it right.

Using the "its been around forever" argument can be applied to genocide, too.

Shaming people who have kinks you find repungent will no more make them reform and find more socially acceptable fetishes than shaming you would make you able to suddenly *not* enjoy topping or exhibitionism or whatever more acceptable things you like.

Not everyone has to try out scat or porn or sex on top of a moving bus to know it's not for them, naturally, but unless I misunderstand you, you're not voicing your own choice to abstain from fetishes you dislike, but advocating anyone with a fetish that falls into your category of "should be buried" never ever talk about their fetish.

Which, if I'm correct, that's still your opinion to hold, it just strikes me as a surprising one for someone who defines herself as a sex worker.

Naked bodies exposed in a sexual way are still porn. And yes, watching people have sex has been around since the beginning of time basically, it is NATURAL. It may not be everyones cup of tea but you can not say it is an unnatural and "wrong" thing.

So just because you think it's gross, the people who are into it should be "buried" and shut out? That it's "harmful" for them to find like-minded people they can discuss their interests with? How? What is "harmful" about it?

I would also like to add that "child molester" is not fetish. ***** is a fetish, but not all ***** are child-molesters or vice versa.

I did not say it was wrong. It's called voyeurism. That is a deviant behavior. Read any social work theory book on sexuality or take any psychology class on sexuality. I've been in college and studied therapy long enough to know the difference. I'm merely stating facts here. Plus the topic at hand is not whether its natural or unnatural to watch porn. You can talk about the history behind sexual artwork (which is still the human form), and you can discuss the sexual behaviors of previous societies, but it doesn't change the fact that within OUR society today, porn is still something that is judged and viewed negatively by the opinion of the majority. Therefore it is a deviant behavior. Taking that into account, many of the people making societal rules are engaging in the very behaviors they condemn.

Voyeurism and pornography are not the same thing.
I think if someone would be in a porn industry, it should be semi classy, like suicide girls for instance
I think porn is natural, i think its fine to look at it even if you ARE getting sexual satisfaction. porn is kinda something you cant have, so its desired. I do think though, if someone is in a relationship getting sexual satisfaction, and watching porn a lot, i think that's a little wrong, not watching porn, but the amount of time watched
and as for the fetish's, they're getting crazier and crazier

[i feel like im repeating myself hahaha]
i think tv has a lot to do with why porn "seems" more "popular" even disney shows have sexual situations hidden in them, generations are getting too sexual too fast
but i dont think thats porns fault, i think its just society and tv
