I think that Christianity itself is a flawed and out-dated system that can't progress without constantly reinventing itself to try and hook more gullible people. talk2hand

i agree
It's not the religion for me, to put it nicely. My mother is ex-catholic, as is my fiance. If there's a church we'll never belong to, that's the one. It goes against just about everything we believe and hold dear, at least in it's stricter forms.
And frankly, the bishops in America could all take a flaming wheelbarrow off a cliff and I'd breathe easier. They have to put their noses into every single political policy there is, and run hospitals and schools and universities and institutions, but God forbid we talk about taking away their tax exempt status. They're allowed to control my life for free.
I'm not bitter or anything........ ******** I hate some of those old bishops. They give people like my neighbors a really bad name. I'd honestly feel dirty if I was associated with that church. No one rains down the hurt/ick factor like the Catholic church can, past and present.

I had an unintentional arguement with this girl I know over Catholicism. She was listing reasons why her religion was so great and why I shouldn't have chosen a science major for all the colleges I applied to because "science makes people become atheist".

"O-kay. So so you're saying that everyone else's beliefs are wrong and yours are the only ones that are right?" I asked humorously.

She just gave me a weird look as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Uh...yea. neutral "
You should have told her that St. Thomas Aquinas would have slapped the s**t out of her. And that St. Albert the Great had your back.
(Patron saints of science and scientists, which she would know if she knew her own religion).

Yup. Totally agree. It's crazy how much modern society wants to continue to latch onto it. They just say "Well, the Bible doesn't really mean that.. It's figurative!" but trust me. It did say and mean that. It's just that we're so much further advanced in science and more progressive on social issues than they ever could have been back then. The Bible was literal to them. They knew nothing else, and that's why the Bible says what it does and not what we want it to say. It's outdated in every way.

If you don't like the school then why not transfer? So far your thread has done nothing but bash. How about leave if you don't like it and not of that faith?
Because not everyone can just transfer on a whim. neutral
