Holey cheese-biscuits. Didn't realize that this thread has been around as
long as it has. Seems like only a short while ago. Crazy.

Argh. My nephew got me sick. Just in time for a job interview and my board exam. emotion_donotwant

Hi. I was directed to this thread by one Blackrose_Knight because my Miss.. my partner, is finishing the last six months of her eight year commitment to the Army and she's away for a few weeks. I didn't know there was a support thread for military lovers. Miss and I have been together almost five years, so we've been through a lot, including me fearing for her life while she was stationed in Iraq. That was a scary time. I just... wanted to say hello, and to tell those who's significant other are in the service, just keep the faith and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

'Ello!
We've been here about four years now, though this year we've been...a little slower. But it's picking back up and we always are ready to welcome someone new!! ^.^

Ah. Well, I'm fairly new to Gaia. Miss joined over a year ago but was offline for a number of months while she was gone, and then recently I decided to join too. It gives me something to do while she's away.

Hello there. My husband has joined the Navy, and is currently in A School until February. We try to talk every day, and when he has spare time, we would like to game together. However, he has been struggling with his internet provider, CZee. They tend to have high latency and drop his net quite a lot. He and I have been trying to find alternatives to a better internet connection, and I understand due to being on a base, nothing can be installed since it's government property. The only answer he had found was from another site's forum saying "go use the wifi at a Starbucks." Is there any possible alternative? He's very frustrated as there are times he'll disconnect 20+ in five minutes. emotion_8c

Also, we have Verizon, and he has a friend who uses a hotspot on base. He attempted testing out their hotspot, and the location of his room seems to be bad for such, as it did not work out too well either.

Hii!
I've actually tried playing co-op Portal 2 with a friend at Starbuck's but it wasn't the most pleasant experience. It's just awkward with small tables and talking about what to do where everyone can hear you...and is trying to study.
Are there any private places where he could go that have better reception with the hotspot?

Hello~
I love Portal 2. 3nodding We had figured Starbucks wouldn't be so great. He said he is going to look around for some areas on base that can give some privacy and try his friend's hotspot there. He said his friend's room has good service, and that his friend doesn't mind him being in there and using it, but my husband would feel bad if he did. sweatdrop I would too.

I almost suggested a friend's room but didn't because I sure as heck know I'd feel bad if it were me...but to be honest I really can't think of anything. sad

I'm sure CZee has a special deal with the base he's on. They manipulate the "no installation on base" rule by being the only ones with equipment there in the first place. Really stinks. $50 a month for super unstable internet? Nope. Not worth it. emotion_donotwant

Nate's internet in the barracks was also pretty much complete crap and was really expensive. And ******** him over on bills a few times too. The one that pisses me off the most, is that it is ON BASE yet because of autopay for his bills, Nate had I don't know how much in fees from internet alone with the last govt shut down because they billed him when he hadn't freaking gotten paid. ON. BASE. I would have hoped maybe, just maybe, there might be a possible grace period but nope.

I really only remember because it was the August before Nate asked me out. XD

Oh no! I hope it's not bad, but either way that still sucks!

How is he doing, by the way? And how is his mom?

That's a good way to remember! :3
How goes wedding planning?

It's better. Am pretty much over it, just have a dry cough left.
Was horrible for a couple weeks though. Got better just in time
for my board exam today -- and I passed! Woot, woot!

Aaron is doing amazingly well. He sees a couple specialists - physical
therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and eating therapist -
and has to wear special shoes to correct his feet, but otherwise he is doing
just amazing. I love my little guy. He's recently learned that Uncle Joe and I
keep cake frosting in our cupboards, so as soon as he walks in the door he goes
and grabs a spoon then finds the frosting and takes a seat on the couch so we
can eat it together. It's fabulous, lol! Sha-zam!

His mom is doing fine as well - stressed, but hanging in there. She's actually looking
into going back to school to be a NICU nurse, so we're hoping to get her on her way
to doing that here soon. Just have to figure out schedules for the kiddos and such.

Not as quickly as it should be, but we're getting there. :3
Seriously the past two months have just FLOWN by!

Congratulations!!!! That's really awesome!!!

And good to hear they're both doing well. ^.^
That is really an adorable picture. When I was first really getting the hang of walking I used to go to the pantry door and point at the handle and say, "Thaaank youuu!" really loudly as my way of asking for a cookie. XD

Why am I more inclined to not believe when Gaia says shutting down zOMG! had nothing to do with money at all? -.-

I know it's a horribly mean thing to say, and while an account safety concern definitely takes precedence over financial issues, I don't think I'd believe anyone if they EVER tried to tell me profit was NOT a factor.

Sorry for random rant, I just read the new post and I freaking loved that game, I just wish it would have been updated as it went along.

And how was that NOT noticed before???? Like, when they were writing it???
