Welcome to Gaia! ::

I wait at a busy bus stop to go to school every day.
Everyday, this cripple guy would sit there and beg for money.
Every. Day. For the six years I would go to the bus stop to go to school.
There's not a single day I didn't see that man asking for food and money. He had a sign that said, "Help me pay for better legs"

So, last year, I was at the bus stop. Everyone was walking around and being busy and stuff, I wasn't paying so much attention to the cripple.
This guy and his friend walked up to the cripple, and asked, "What's wrong with your legs?"
"I don't know, they've never worked good." The cripple responded.
One of the guys grabbed the cripple's arms.
"What are you doing?!"
"In the name of the Lord Jesus, STAND UP!"
The cripple just stood up. Just as the guy stood up, my bus came.

And the guy could stand. I myself didn't believe it. It took a few weeks for it to register in my head, it was just so incredible. That's not the only thing.

A few months after that, my family took me to the zoo. (Which was disgusting) A guy had a snake on display, it was wrapped around his hand. As the man was talking about the snake, it just suddenly slipped down and started to slither everywhere, hissing.
This lady scolded the snake in the name of God. (I don't remember what she said, but It was still awesome. I was in the back, so I couldn't see a lot) The snake, amazingly, went back it its owner, and stopped hissing. It wasn't staged, why would they put zoo visitor's lives in risk if it was staged?

So ya, I finally decided there had to be God if things like that happened so much. After I started believing, my life got so much better. I could overcome the bad times more, and since my parents are atheists, they didn't drive me to church, so I started walking. God was my answer. smile

I'm not trying to shove this down anyone's throat, I'm just sharing my story on how I went from a committed Atheist to a devoted and faithful Christian. Feel free to choose smile
I myself think things that are miracles, and by GOD, proving that there is a god. He might not be visible but he is deifantly there for you if you need him and listenting smile I myself help my faith by listeting to music, which might not sound that much. Just the mere fact that someone will sing for god is great to me, and they share that with you. I listen to Barlow girls, and Flyleaf. Ever since i've listened to Flyleaf i feel that my faith has drastically gone up and i feel alot better about myself, it feels great 3nodding

Good for you. I'm glad to call you a sister in Christ.
It's always inspiring to hear how others came to know Christ.
Keep growing in Christ my sister!

I myself find that volunteering, helping others and showing them Christ's love, is all I need to help with my own faith.
Wow, that's amazing. I'm Christian too. 3nodding

So, what if they would have said something like "In the power of Isis..." instead of Jesus. Would you have become a follower of the Ancient Egyptian gods?

To be honest, I don't know. I was still unsure until I saw the lady tame the snake.
I used to be christian before the church I'd been going to my entire life stopped letting me in because I'm bisexual

My advice for you, my friend, is not to narrow your mind to this "Jesus" image of God. I'm a little agnostic, I used to be Christian, and now I'd say my morals follow a more Pagan or Wiccan path (just so you know where I'm coming from with this opinion). In my opinion, that man just worked a little magic. It wasn't a 'miricle' -- you have no idea how many of those would happen daily, then, if there was such a thing as miricles. Aren't they supposed ot be rare? And if Gods always working so many miricles, how come our Planet Earth is only going downhill? It's just the fact that that man had a very strong belief in the image of Jesus as a healer. If you believe in something strong enough, you can conjure its energy and work magic. Or, in other words, you can 'pray and work miricles'. Whichever way you want to look at it, I guess. I'm just warning you now, your life may have changed for the better, but don't let yourself slack on paying attention to life just because you have something to believe in now. Jesus can be whatever you want him to be, you may believe him to be a certain character, but another religious believer may have a completely different relationship with him, so just take this warning, religion is not set in stone, set your mind for yourself, don't narrow it! I was raised to believe in Jesus, and he just wasn't the right belief for me, but if he is for you, then by all means. Just don't turn into a hardcore Christian or something, its not worth twisting your mind away from your nature. Don't run away from your negativities, Jesus may forgive them, but the rest of the world wont. Nature needs balance, you can't always focus on the positive, so take comfort in it now, just don't narrow your mind!

Well, what if just simple loud voices scared the snake into being "obedient" or whatever. I mean, it probably didn't matter what anyone said. They probably could have shouted a grocery list in a mean tone and that would make an animal go back to its comfort zone. I don't know, I'm a skeptic so I always have to think of all possibilities before coming to a conclusion about something.
i have always believed in God.

im happy for you.
For the fist example, did you follow up on the guy afterward? Did you make sure his improvement was permanent and not psychological? Even if his legs didn't work well, that doesn't mean that he couldn't stand for a short while. I knew a few people who needed wheelchairs most of the time, but could stand or walk for a short while, just not for long. And how do you know for sure that this guy was really using the money for his legs? Maybe he stood up because the guy was invading his personal space and creeping him out. Or because he was religious and was compelled to by peer pressure, even if it was hard.

For the snake part, that snake must have been at least partially domesticated or trained to be in a display. Even though it got down, it may have felt insecure and wanted back to it's familiar trainer, or it was even part of the demonstration. If it was around a trainers hand, it couldn't have been that big or venomous. Nobody was in any danger, most snakes are very benign. You even said you couldn't see much, perhaps somebody else waved it back, just a simple hand wave was probably enough to get the snake to retreat to it's trainer.

In any case, if this were real, these people are evil because they are not in hospitals helping sick people or in places where venomous snakes are a problem. Seriously, if this were real how selfish is that?

Neither of those stories were very convincing, I'm sorry.
I'm a Christian, but my family's Athiest.
: D
Great to hear your story.
Seriously, there are ******** millions of children starving all over the world, why would Jesus take the time to shut up a snake for an obnoxious, impatient old lady and not feed the bellies of starving children who pray every single day?
