If I can feel it pressing against my hip bones - too big. Girth wise anyway. I have a pretty shallow v****a (I say 5ish inches, maybe 6) and a testy cervix (failed IUD experiment) so I prefer girthy, but shallow.

That said I am a size queen and can work up to some really stupidly big sizes. I like it - but its not for everyone.

Lengthwise, I do not think there is a limit, as long as you have proper control of it and do not try to stick it in completely. Having a big stump doesn't mean you have to stick it in further than what fits and feel comfortable.
Girth wise, well the girth of my arm is too big. Or when I can feel it pushing against my bones down there. But I suppose that is kinda.. obvious. With smaller girths, it depends on the amount of foreplay, and how frequently it is inserted.
