If you're not with them, you're against them. That's their logic.

Then...maybe in a sense it's their own fault that heteros get hyped up about them?
They're just stirring up the hatred themselves by that logic. Tolerance does not mean you have to agree with them or like what they're doing.
My philosophy is that just because you don't support or agree with something doesn't mean you have to totally bash it and burn it either.
Hate is wrong and yes I'll admit to being guilty of it myself...but I'm human and I'm trying to work on that.
Hurting others for choosing a lifestyle that you don't agree with is wrong.

Oohhhhh alright my bads then. ^^; Like I said before I don't support homosexuality but I'm not going to bash people for being homosexuals either. o.o

Because not being open to homosexuality somehow translates into ignorance and then you're a redneck.

Ok...why does this sound like a slippery slope fallacy?

1. I don't hate homosexuals.
2. I do not wish homosexuals harm.
3. I'm not afraid of homosexuals.

Yet just because I don't agree with homosexuality I'm ignorant and a redneck? o.O;

Please.
Everytime someone is against homosexuality, but not against the person it's an automatic red flag. You've all seen it happen in this forum alone. There's a fine line between homophobia and not supporting homosexuality and most people don't realize it.

Depends on the person. If he/she is an utter douchebag they'll probably fight fire with fire. Not all queers are "nice" people. They're human afterall and have the capacity to hate.

Tolerance is necessary. Bullshit is not.

Crap. I saw that list on a MySpace bulletin a while back, and it upset me enough the first time. haha I didn't even read it this time. Homophobia has affected my life significantly enough.

I would just like to say that while it's alright to despise homophobia, despising homophobes for their beliefs transforms us into the very thing we hate. Homophobes aren't necessarily bad people, any more than we are. Misinformed, perhaps, but these beliefs have usually been bred in them from childhood. Due to their religion, spirituality, or just personal beliefs, they believe that being gay is a sin, unnatural, disgusting, etc. If they believe that homosexuality is dead wrong, of course they're going to try to fight against it. Homophobia is yet another unfortunate misconception. While I don't ever see it leaving us completely, I do think that it will continue to diminish. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Ok, if you're not "them" then you don;t know how "they" think.
So don't say you do.
Yes, it would be nice to be 100% accepted like straight couples, but the odds of that happening now are slim and we know that. We're ok with simple tolerance most of the time, as EternalCat's beliefs are. We just don't want to be hated and considered unnatural and sinful and all those other crazy things people call homosexual couples and the LGBTQ Community.

I've seen nothing of the sort in this thread. I've seen people asking about how men/women are attracted to the same sex and recieving answers, but no bashing. Get it straight dude.
Plus, whether that true or not, you don't hear me saying "to heterosexuals, if you're not against homosexuality, you must be gay". You're just giving out false generalisations on topics that you have no knowledge of.

in fact, very few 'Queers' are going to be nice if you refer to them as such. stare

You're either lying or blind. Every thread about gay acceptance there's at least 1 person who doesn't support it; be it a Christian or just some average joe. It turns into a bible interpretation lesson or an open "debate" (I use debate loosely here because it usually turns into a shitfest). And I've been accused, many times in real life and on here, that if I'm against queers, I must be one myself.

It happens. The difference now is that I'm used to it.
Simple tolerance then I'm fine with, because as a Christian we're taught to love others no matter what, even if we don't agree with them.

I have a gay mentor and I refer to him as a queer all the time. Wise guy, but he can take it.
I do not believe in homophobia i believe that all people should be excepted for who they are (except rapest ect)
Sometimes, you just cant change what ppl see things as.
Trying to convince ppl with homophobia is the same as trying to convince gay ppl.
Homophobia is so stupid I really can't wrap my mind around it. But I'm lucky my my parents would never be dissapointed in me if I became a lesbian, in fact they'd be thrilled. They've always told me they'd prefer me to date girls then guys xp

you said in this thread, not this forum. Pardon my direct interpretation.
And if you haven't noticed, over half the time when a christian is commenting negativly about homosexuality, they are referring to it as " totally wrong" or "a sin". I apologize if many of us take offense to that.
The reason it turns into a bible interpretation is also because when one refers to something as a sin, it means that it goes against thier religeon. many of like to point out that we do not find it a sin.

It's not a question of taking it or not, it's a question of getting on the bad side of someone when trying to say that you simply don't support them. If you don't want to accept homosexuality, fine. But if you want us to accept your choices, you might want to be semi-polite about it.
