Eeeh.. That reasoning is kinda irrational.
Come to think of it:
Homosexuality wasn't frowned upon until.. What.. Oh, right.
Until someone decided they should write a Bible.

We all know 'getting down' with both girls and guys was perfectly fine in the past. Past now long, long gone.
And then someone decided to write down how men will not sleep with men.

Christians ******** us up. Ironically; They preach love and equality for all.
Except women, children and homosexuals, of course.
My opinion.

Well, yeah. But the Bible's been around for 2000 years, so people generally accept that it's fact. I asked one of my friends why she was homophobic, and the only reason she came up with was that the Bible said so. Then again, she also believes carbon dating is falsified information and that the world was created in seven days, so...

Anyways. Homophobia's a belief, same as anything else. I believe homosexuality is fine. Someone else believes it is wrong. And if it is an intristic belief, something they view as morally lax or whatever you want to call it, it's near impossible to change it. Sad but true.
The only reason people are homophobic is because of fear. Fear turns to hate, which turns to oppression, ostracization, homicide, suicide, and more hate.
We fear what we do not understand. We also fear from fear taught to us.
"I am the woman who the paramedics stopped helping because they realized that I was born male and am transsexual."
This is a fear of mine.

P.S. homophobia doesn't apply to transgender people. It's transphobia. Just a quick FYI ^^
I don't understand why people who don't support homosexuality are automatically labeled homophobes.
I have friends who are bi-sexual...I know they aren't going to hurt me or hit on me...One of my roommates in college was one of them. Of course, I didn't know she was bi at the time...but it's not like she was going to hold me down and force me to have sex with her or kill me or anything.
I'm not afraid of homosexuals. I just don't agree with homosexuality.
But I also don't agree with physically harming someone or killing anyone for choosing that lifestyle. I'd still love any children that I might have someday if he/she ended up being homosexual and I wouldn't be afraid of them. But that doesn't mean I am obligated to agree with their actions either.
Personally the last thing we should do is treat homosexuals like dirt...
One of my guy friends is bisexual... he is the most hilarious person I've ever met. My best girl friend has recently discovered that she is bi, and that hasn't stopped me from loving her like she was my sister. We're really close.
I think homophobia is because people don't understand Bisexual, and Homosexual people, and thus they think there is something wrong with people who like people from the same gender as them. Even though it's completely normal
Hell bottle nosed dolphins are homosexual!! XD
Personally, I think hate of any kind is wrong. I guess I must admit that people have a right to think however they want, but acting in ANY WAY upon that hate is immoral. I don't agree with transphobia, homophobia, heterophobia, racism, religious prejudice... It's just discriminatory and wrong. It divides us. I honestly don't care what color/orientation/religion you are. I'll treat you the same as the next person. You have to earn my respect and trust, and I don't dislike without reason. What you look like and believe is little to no value in my mind. I look at you as a person, independent from others, a being on your own, as I hope you look at me.

It's just the way things are.
Isn't there a difference between being afraid of homosexuals...and just not agreeing with homosexuality? :O
Isn't homophobia the fear of homosexuals?
Not agreeing with homosexuality =/= being afraid of homosexuals.
i have gays friends aand they dont sacare my they are to much funies xd xd
Homophobia- ugh.

How can it be 2008, so much more advanced and modern than years before, and still people won't let their brothers and sisters be who they really are?

Why are people, with all of the 'self-love' stuff out there, not practicing 'people-love'

Homophobia is similar to racism and religious prejudice. You can't help your race, or your belief, so why must homosexuals be pressured to change what they where born as?

I am straight, but believe and support my really amazing gay friend. Anyone who has a problem with him will sure as hell have to get through me and his other friends.
Can...someone please explain what makes a fear of homosexuals the same thing as disagreeing with them? Certainly fear turns to hate but I don't hate them nor do I fear them.
Yet the definition seems to say a homophobe also includes someone who doesn't agree with homosexuality? This doesn't make sense at all. o.o;
Why then isn't disagreeing with heterosexuality or having a hatred of heterosexuals then called heterophobia and labeled heterophobes rather than heterosexist or heterosexism? >.>;
This ain't right...

Not agreeing with homosexuality =/= being afraid of homosexuals.

There is. For some reason it's called being "close-minded."
Because not being open to homosexuality somehow translates into ignorance and then you're a redneck.

Ok...why does this sound like a slippery slope fallacy?

1. I don't hate homosexuals.
2. I do not wish homosexuals harm.
3. I'm not afraid of homosexuals.

Yet just because I don't agree with homosexuality I'm ignorant and a redneck? o.O;

Basically.
If you're not with them, you're against them. That's their logic.

according to a totally straight dude who has no idea how the majority of the gay community feels. a*****e. don't shove words in our mouthes. stare

This guy has no idea what he's talking about. Really, as long as you don't bother us about being the way we are, we really don't care. 3nodding
