I was 13. A week before that day, I was in the bathroom going poop, and when I wiped, I thought I was on my period, but it was actually my a**s bleeding a little bit.

Then a week later on December 28th, 2003 (I still don't know why I remember the date I had it), I go to the bathroom in the morning, and after I wiped, I saw heavier blood from before, and I told my mom. She asked, "Is it not your a**s this time?"

Nope, it wasn't. xd

I got mine in my freshman year of high school... I was fourteen. I had P.E. and I was just a'runnin' and whatever, but I felt something... weird. I thought maybe I had s**t myself or something, because it was the WEIRDEST SENSATION like I had peed, but not out of the right place. Gross. Anyway. I went to the bathroom and I saw the blood on my underwear and I THOUGHT I WAS DYING.
I don't know why, really. I was such a spaz. A period was not my first thought. Dying was. Heh. I thought it was like my organs bleeding out or something.
Anyway, the next night there was this HUUUUGE thunderstorm and my mom was all, "KIDS, GET IN THE BASEMENT RAWRAWR." but I realized I had bled again, and then I'm like,
"WAIT. I THINK I KNOW WHAT THIS IS."
(I am seriously slow.)
So I told my mom, "I think I started my period."
And she's like, "...Oh."
"Yeah."
"Uh. Do you have stuff for it? Like... I know they gave you stuff in health..."
"Yeah, I got... stuff. Not much though."
"I'll buy you some tomorrow."
"Thanks."

It was super awkward. My first period was irregular and lasted like two days, and then the next one was SO BAD I stayed in bed the whole first day. And it was Christmas. D:

Not a good experience...it's been horrible ever since.

Then my mom was all happy and excited.. ._. Totally embarrassing, glad no one else was in my house..

Mine is more or less like your story. Except for the "getting overly excited for nothing" part. I didn't know what the hell was going on but my mom was freaking out. I was 10 when I got mine. I didn't fully understand what it was until...actually, I'm a bit embarrassed to say...my senior year of high school. Yes, laugh at me. I live in a very sheltered home (curses) but I have very knowledgeable friends who've taught me well [^^]

I was going to the bathroom one Sunday morning in 5th grade, about to get ready for church... I look down and I'm like "WTF WTF WTF BLOOD OHMYGOD I"M DYING!!? WHAT IS THIS??!!!" I started crying for my mom... it took her like 10 minutes before she noticed and dropped by for an explanatory visit. I guess she didn't think I could've bled to death in that time. Hmph.

I was 13 at the time, in the summer between 8th and 9th grde, and I felt something... off in my underwear, so I went to the bathroom, and my panties had brown stains. D':

I told my mom the next day and she bought me a shitload of pads.

Lol ten days before my 12th birthday, I went to the school bathroom before the bus came, I looked down and saw blood in my undies, and stains on my pants, I panicked even though i already had a puberty talk at my school (which was very hilarious xD), I even called my mom. At first i was sort of proud then I was just like "Oh dang it! Now I'll be bleeding for God knows how long? Dx" My mom only had tampons, so toilet paper came in handy. Very uncomfortable. xPP

I was at school the whole day and I just felt drop,drop and I just thought it was sweat. Well, about 8:30 pm, I was getting ready to shower, and BAM! I looked down, and I'm like "Oh Mah God. I just started. SHT!" I just started laughing and crying, and my mom pissed herself.
I'm home right now on my heaviest day. Waaaaaaaaaah!
