Welcome to Gaia! ::

yeesh...i'm only 14 yet I know that life may be cushioned here in America, and things may be given to you in other countries, and I know how terrible it is for some....but the cushy life in America is acheivied upon whether you strive or not....so if people don't try, don't get a high school diploma, don't go to college, than that is their fault.....things may be given to you free in other countries, but if you don't use them, what is the use of that? do all European kids have an education? i wouldn't think so, cause most kids nowadays are out on the streets selling pot and other drugs....grrrrrrrrrrr evil ........and how terrible it is in other countries? I appreciate all America is trying to do to help them...the war in Iraq was not and is not a bad judgement call...we are giving those people freedom!....people need not live in poverty or in fear......

and I support Bush all the way......you guys should too, because a leader can't function without support
Are you kidding, Canada has a ton of Socialist aspects. One of the biggest being Socialized Medicine. There are Zero privite clinics in Canada. We have Socilized Pensions. Socialized Utilities. BTW Canada is technically a Constitutional Monarchy.

And as for supporting Bush, that is something for each citizen to decide for themselves. You should only support a leader you want leading your nation. That is the power of Democracy, if you don't like them, don't support them, and then they will fail. If support is mandatory then it isn't democracy! You said it better than I can, a leader cannot function without your support.

I'd much rather have privately operated health care than a governmentally funded system. I'll aways argue that the Producer/Consumer Relationship will provide a higher quality service than any government regulation ever could.
Until you break a leg and it would put you into a ridiculous amount of debt. I have had to use hospitals many times and I find the service amazing and I love that I don't owe $100,000 because of it. Every western country has socilized healthcare but the states and the states is the worst off. Every single person deserves proper treatment no matter how much money they have, how can you argue with that? No one deserves to die because they don't have $20,000

That's why we have something called medical insurance. I'm sure you Canucks know what that is. I'm covered up to $40,000 a year on general medical costs with up $250,000 coverage in the event of an emergency. Actually... Since I enlisted I'm pretty much covered for any injury at any cost, period, so in a way I am using government funded medical care; but whatever. Anyone who isn't a douche bag can get at least minimal medical insurance, and that will cover any injury that threatens loss of life or limb, whatever the cost.
Yes I know about medical insurance, but not everyone can afford it and not everyone iis accepted. On top of that(and I hate to sound like micheal moore) HMO's will screw you over if they can. It just makes so much more sense for every last person to be covered, that way no one has to die because they could get treatment.

Don't tell me not everyone can afford it. There is always a way. Always. That's one of the founding principles this nation stands on. And the U.S. does have free clinics. But, as always, you get what you pay for; and their service is inferior. And no, I don't think the lazy-a** bum off the street deserves equal medical care as those of us who work hard for our pay to keep ourselves and our families taken care of.
No, not everyone can afford it, thats a fact. I still feel that everyone should be treated no matter their situation. I pay my taxes with pride knowing that I am helping to fund medical treatment for any other Canadian Citizen, and I know they do the same.

on a side note, I love how were are in a topic titled "for fellow highschool students" and we are both out of High School and both serving our countries.

Heh, the thread got hijacked by a multinational force. What do you do in the Canadian... Army I presume?
Hell yeah Army all the way! plus I am qualified as a Signaler, the most boring job that requires the most attention to detail. In the CF, siganaler are also officers bodyguards, and if your officers are like ours, you can imagine the effort that entails.

I can imagine; especially with some of the brand new officers that think they're the center of the world. I'm in the infantry, so my job mainly entails doing the s**t details of everyone else's job. And, you know, sometimes I get to shoot a few rounds downrange.
I know what you mean about the s**t details, Infantry is my main trade. It is all worth the time spent on the big guns, and then bragging that up to my sig. buds. As for Officers, the new ones out of RMC (our version of West point) are by far the most egotistical people I know.
Tickle my n****e
To get a nickel #_#
God damn, I think even I get more respect (An I'm just an E-1) than some of the butterbars straight out of West Point. Half of them don't even know how to operate our weapons systems. I don't really understand why, but they strapped me down with everything they could think of. My combat load consists of an M249 SAW, an M16A4, and a Mossberg 500 shotgun. I carry 800 rounds of linked 5.56mm SAW ammo, four M16 magazines and 24 rounds of 12-gauge 00 buckshot. Sucks, 'cause it weighs a ton; but I look like a beast.
lol, thats one hell of a battle load. It must take at least one other person to help you get all bombed up. I generaly only have a C7 (M16A2 w/ 4x sight), 5-7 mags, 2 frags, 200 5.56 for the section saws. In addition I'll have either a radio or ammo for a heavy weapon, I got trained on all the CF's heavy infanty weapons so I always get put in a team. The GPMG (your M240) is a fun one to use though.
