Okay, I'm not being unsupportive with this, but I have a few questions to ask that I never quite understood and I guess this would be as good of a place to ask?
What makes it so much different between being engaged and dating, when you can't legally get married? I guess I just don't understand why people get engaged when they can't get married... and i guess I don't understand why an engagement is so long..?
Whats the difference between an engagement ring and a promise ring, if the promise is to marry?
I just don't understand most things I guess..
But I do feel like if the couple is mature enough, then its fine. I just don't exactly think MOST people have the right state of mind about it... not saying everyone does.
Too many people give the whole "Engaged and underaged" thing a bad image when they run around with their ring after a few weeks -___-;
Well, even in most older relationships, the engagement period usually last for a while. Some are actively planning, some are waiting to begin.
I never really saw any point to promise rings personally. Not when engagement rings exists. Maybe it's just about degrees of engagement or something? I dunno.
I also agree that maturity should definitely be a factor. As I said before, I knew a girl like that, she ultimately just made herself look silly. =/
Eh, I still don't completely understand. I can see if the wedding is being planned, but whats the point of being engaged when you have no real time for the marriage in mind? Its pretty much dating with the thought of getting married, isn't it...
Maybe I'm just old fashioned? I dunno.
I think the point with promise rings is a lower stage of engagement, but you don't call each other fiancee and stuff...
I think I've just had really negative experiences with young engagements, and lately people are pressuring me that if I loved my boyfriend we'd be engaged.. but its not for everyone :/
