I have a hard time believing teenagers that get engaged will actually get married. It's just from personal experience and my views on marriage.

Personally, I don't think anyone should get married unless they have spent at least a year living together under the same roof. Going to their place and sleeping over does not count. For instance, I had a pretty happy relationship with my first boyfriend. Around 8 months into the relationship he moved in with me due to family issues. I can say for sure this revealed how incompatible we were. We had different views on what housework needed to be done, schedule for the day etc. Living together allows you to find out the best and worst of your partner. And if you can get used to them being around all the time then kudos.

The actual wedding itself isn't the problem but what kind of life are you going to have with your partner is. It takes a lot of contemplating and essentially a big leap of faith that everything will work out for the best.

But it is good you feel so strongly. I do wish you two luck in the future : )

Thanks! razz

I think all couples, regardless of age, should live together before marrying. It's just...so different from just dating.

Well I am 17 and my fiance is 18 but by time we get married I will be 19 and he will be 20. I got my ring today actually. We got engaged before a ring, he had told me about a certain event that happened in his life and when I still loved him and wanted to be with me he said he just knew I was the one and he had to be with me. BUT I GOT MY RING TODAY AFTER WAITING SO LONG =]

Aw, that's sweet. c: Congratulations. My fiance proposed in the SEARS parking lot. xD It was kind of funny, now everytime we pass it while driving, we both laugh a little.

Aw, that is cute. He proposed to me in the bed after a heart to heart about that event. His exact words were, "if I don't ask you this now I will explode, Lauren you are the most understanding person I have met. I love you so much will you marry me?" We were both crying a river. smile

It's good that you'll always have that emotional memory. It's also good that he's not afraid to cry. I've only seen Michael cry once. Damn men! D:<

At first he was crying thinking I was going to leave once he told me then the tears turned into happiness because I said I will always be here to matter what. ((he didn't cheat it was something that happen to him as a kid))

I third that. We currently live with my mom but are making plans to get a small place of our own. But yes I do agree living together is a must!

Poor guy. =/ At least it turned into happy tears. It's good that he doesn't cheat, that's like, the biggest betrayal of trust. D:
My fiance and I have been engaged for over 2 years now (it'll be 3 this January). He proposed to me only after 6 months of dating (4 of which he was in Italy...) when I was 18. Everybody was really incredulous about it, said it wouldn't last and all that sorta stuff, but now we showed 'em wrong! We're planning on getting married after I graduate college in 2010 when I'm 21.

"After 2.5 years of dating, after graduation, my hubby proposed at age 18. I was 19. We got married shortly after, we've been married a few months now. I don't support just anyone getting engaged or married young though. You need to understand everything involved in a relationship. You need maturity. You need security."

Congrats! I don't get why people have to inject their opinions, it's not their lives, they don't need to try to live them!
Would I be welcome in here?

I am 21 now and married, but I got engaged and married at 18.

btw, you look familiar, have I talked to you before

If you can't afford to support yourselves, I believe you should wait. However, not necessarily on engagement. Just the marriage.

I know funny thing is I use to be a cheater never slept around but I dated other guys with my last one. With the last guy marriage was like NO WAY NEVER NO WEDDING FOR ME!! But with this one I wanted to settle down I want to be with him I want to marry him. I want a piece of paper to say I am married to him. I know the phrase once a cheater always a cheater, but with the last guy I felt an emptiness but with my fiance I fill so complete I could bust into a trillion pieces. Actually with my fiance I actually don't notice others. I kind of feel I am walking around in a fanasty with just me and him. Because of that I bump into alot of people when in stores lol!

Okay, I technically fall under any of the requirements
save for the last one. I am welcome, correct? Does it
also help that my fiance is 19? We got engaged when
she was 18. Just checking. sweatdrop

I remember that, I am still very much against it, but I am a lot nicer about it now, I was a jerk before, and I apologize if I was rude to you.

I don't believe that once a cheater always a cheater bullshit. People have the capacity to change, and they may or may not.

Haha, you must be a spacey one. xD I may have done that once or twice. D;
