I also find it annoying when my brother chews his food because its so loud. He doesnt smack, he just chews so hard that you can hear his teeth clench together.
Ugh. Its hard to explain. But he chews so loudly that it annoys me.
Its not his fault, so I try really hard to ignore it.

The first time I was told by my aunt I was smacking my food, I literally didn't know that I was smacking my food. I also don't know if she mistook my loud chewing (I can't help it, especially if I'm eating chips or hard foods) for smacking because I always try to keep my mouth closed when eating with others (though when I'm eating by myself, I don't care if I eat with my mouth open), and I've read that smacking is opening and closing your mouth while eating. So instead of people telling me I'm rude for smacking, I'd rather they tell me that I'm smacking, because more often than not, I don't even realize it.
