DO NOT POST Life Issue threads:
This is a general reminder NOT to post any sort of thread where you are seeking help or advice from other members regarding an issue. These sort of threads belong in the Life Issues subforum. If you see anyone posting these types of threads, do not answer their question, and report the thread as spam. If you answer their question, you're only encouraging this behavior. Examples of what Question threads look like: "Can any of you help me with my life issue?" "I need help! Why is this happening?!?!" DO NOT POST Food & Drink threads This is a general reminder NOT to post any threads that deal with cooking, recipes and other food related subjects in Lifestyle Discussion. These sorts of threads belong only in the Food & Drinks subforum. If you see any of these types of threads, do not answer them and report them to be moved. Examples of Food & Drink type threads: "What's your favorite type of food to cook? I cook for myself on a daily basis, so any simple recipes you could share would be great!" "I love sushi! I've been learning how to make my own handrolls. Does anyone else here like Japanese food?" DO NOT POST Fashion & Style threads This is a general reminder NOT to post any threads about fashion, clothing brands, fashion trends and beauty/makeup. These sorts of threads belong only in the Fashion & Style subforum. If you find any threads about fashion and its related subjects do not reply to them and report them to be moved. ***Special note about hairstyle advice threads - there is a sticky here that collects ALL hair related questions and advice - we WILL move your thread to the Recycle Bin if you make a separate thread about it in either LD or F&S. Examples of Fashion & Style threads: "I just found out that this summer's big color is orange! Ew! I think it should be cerulean blue or a light pink. What do you all think this summer's hottest color is going to be?" "A&F is so overrated. Their clothes never fall on my body correctly. What are some of the brands you love/hate?" DO NOT POST Low Content threads: This is a general reminder also that low content threads are not permitted in this forum and don't count as discussion. There has been some confusion regarding this so here is an attempt to break it down: Low content threads include any of the following: Threads that can be answered with one word or opinion (for example, "Do you wear makeup?" ). Note: These are discouraged as they tend to be more spam/chat than actual discussion. However, if your one-word response topic generates genuine discussion suitable for the Lifestyle forum, it will not be considered low content and can be permitted to stay. Threads that list a topic to discuss but list nothing specific about that topic to discuss (for example, "Talk about religion." ) Vague threads that are too general and rely on replies to generate a discussion topic. Guru threads where you invite others to ask questions and you give out answers (for example, "I'm a [x], ask me any questions you want!" ). Threads that encourage others to post quotes, lyrics, and any sort of message that is copy & paste in nature. Read this to learn how to avoid making a low content thread: "Example 1" "Do you like eskimos?" BAD Explanation - This is a forum for discussing lifestyles, and since there is no discussion about a lifestyle here this would count as low content. "Example 2" "Discuss your opinions regarding the Eskimo lifestyle and why you feel that way" GOOD Explanation - This narrows down specifically what it is you want to discuss, and it's a lifestyle so it would be suited for this forum. If you see anyone posting a thread that could fall into the low content category, please report the thread as spam. |
