I've lived in Cleveland my entire life and, although its not my favorite city, its not as bad as everyone says.
Every town in the country has crime and "bad areas" but they aren't exceptionally bad here.
There is a HUGE suburban area with tons of resources and shopping which makes up for what downtown lacks.
We have major sports teams, the second largest theater district outside of Broadway, and tons of amazing local restaurants (If you want recommendations, ask). Not to mention that many musicians that tour the country stop in Cleveland for their Ohio dates.
No, Cleveland is not some sprawling urban utopia like Chicago or NYC, but it is certainly not a bad place to live.
