A few people with Asperger's syndrome are very successful and until recently were not diagnosed with anything but were seen as brilliant, eccentric, absent minded, socially inept, and a little awkward physically.
All the more reason to not diagnose people with it. =P

Seriously, I hope my chances of becoming a yuppie have not lessened with my past history with my school district.

I believe diagnosing people with the syndrome merely causes more problems than it solves.
@Buttler: I do believe if you aren't severe and have gone that long without a diagonis, then it is probably better to not know. After all, you should be able to tell if something is wrong with you or not at that age range. :/

@Adelei: I have same problems as you, though I was actually diagonised with autism. I hate changes, I have a hard problem with eye contact(even today), and am shy about meeting new people(though that's more a personality thing I believe). I can look at your eyes, but I can't focus on them. I can't exactly explain it. It's whatever you want to do though. If you don't want to go get dianoised, that's your choice.

@Fiona: You may feel that way, but you aren't. Trust me. I know how you feel. I've been dianosed since I was two or three if I remember correctly. But I've found friends and peopel thoughout my eighteen years of life that have made me feel like I belong. You just need to find those people that accept you for who you are and appreciate them. :3

@Sparkling: I admit I don't know what you mean by the Autism speaks statement. I haven't honestly payed much attention to the movement, even though I'm autistic. :/

@Privateer: Yeah. If they don't understand that, then they aren't doing a good job. ^^;

@Radevel: You shouldn't be embrassed! It's part of who you are, but it is not what makes you, you. It is just an influence on your personality and actions. Nothing more. Just get some help for the symptoms that effect your living and you should be fine. :3

@Apple: I agree. Your sister is adorable rabbit! <3
Repeat thread is repeated.

There is already a Special Needs Support Thread, which covers Autism and Aspergers.
@Bunny: There is?
