Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hey,

I am a mother of an eight month old boy, I was just wondering if anyone else has children and if so how old are they ?

My son is starting to try and crawl but we have hard wood floors in every room, I was wondering if anyone else has this situation and if their child learned okay on the hard wood floors? I find they are slippery for him.

LOL, I'm not worried about that at all.

If that's not a top priority for you then he'll definitely be the next big serial killer. Is his name Elifasi Msomi? It ought to be.

I'm not worried at all about it because I know to teach him from right and wrong already..
I wouldn't name my kid that.................EVER... not to mention I am white.
I'm not a parent or anything, but I have babysat children from infancy to tween, and I've even babysat children from one stage to another!

Since you've got hardwood floors, adding a padded mat or some form of soft carpet should reduce the slip risk and make it easier on the lad if he should take a tumble.

Also, since babies aren't born with knee caps (I'm not sure when they start forming), padding should also help in alleviating the joints from too much pressure.

Once again, I'm not a mother or a doctor, so checking with one certainly wouldn't hurt. Congrats on your baby and I wish you luck in being a mommy! ^^

Racist.

lol, I am not a racist.. I have lots of friends that are not white... but that name obviously isn't very common for white people... anyone knows that who has a brain. If I recall you said that name relates to a serial killer.... I am not looking to talk about this though right now.. waste of time really. I am looking to talk about my son and to other mothers to get some info... but thanks..
I love the suggestion of adding a rug.

the family I nanny for found a big flat rug to put on their living room, not for the reason you'd be getting it. there's was to protect the carpet from food stains, but you should look out for something like that.
Also I don't see how the floor would be slippery unless he's wearing pants. skin usually has some friction to it.
I started nannying when the family's youngest was 8 months old. he learned to walk just a couple months later. he's just turned 1 in January and he's already running.

Oh? And what are common names for white people? Gunderhar? Irmingard? Are those common names for white people?

Is David a common name for white people? I've met loads of black Davids, you know. Does that make it a off-limits name for the tighty-whiteys of the world?

What are you, some kind of Nazi?

Wow... you are really annoying.. Do you just look for arguments on the web to have with people or like accusing people of certain things ? ? .. Grow up seriously.. Yes you are right that black, white or whatever race can have ANY name.. its not very common ... You may know a lot of people with that name that are black but I don't... Doesn't mean I am a racist.. I could see you calling me that if I was sitting here writing I hate whites or black people... So anyways feel free to keep saying bullsh!t on here to me but i wont be responding to you at all again after this.. like I said I am just looking to get info from other mothers.. Sorry if I offended you in some sort of fu**ing way.....................................................................................

What helps is putting your kid on their belly. Then forcibly bend their knees and keep it that way, and don't let them roll over. If that's not working, you can help build their upper leg muscles by having them kneel on both knees. One of my baby brothers learned at six months, but the other is turning one years old in two weeks and still doesn't know how to crawl. (He's pretty big, too, so that may be one reason.)

There's also special shoes out there to help babies learn to crawl. They basically look like cleats, and it helps them "grab" the floor with their feet.

Actually, I don't plan on having kids. They are nasty little things. neutral
