This thread is about people who believe in a monotheistic God. I'm sure the vast majority of you will be Christians, so the question is mainly aimed towards you. However the question could apply just as much to people who believe in other religions or God's, but the religion has to be theistic for my question to even be relevant.
Before I ask my question, I want to lay down some ground rules:
1. This thread isn't about argumentation. I'm not going to argue with your opinions, however if I find your opinion interesting or I want to know more about, I might ask you follow up questions. My intention is not to be a gadfly, my intention is to try and understand your belief more.
2. To the people who are going to go in this thread and say "Oh jeez not another religion thread" please go away. Go click the back arrow button on your web browser, you don't own this forum, I can talk about whatever the hell I want to as long as it is relevant to lifestyle and the topic is relevant to that. No offense but I'm sick and tired of the douche bags who roam in this forum on the high horse that they own the forum *Yes I'm looking at you, the regs*.
2a. In b4 someone says exactly what I just said not to say to be a wise a**. Yes I know, you violated my rule exactly by saying "Oh jeez not another religion thread" or any statement synonymous to that, you are so clever and witty I swear you should go be a comedian. If you do this, I will block you from my thread, I'm not tolerating any nonsense.
3. If you disagree with someone's opinion here, I would appreciate it if you don't argue with the person over it. I don't want this thread to turn into another typical Atheist vs Christian thread where the subject changes and people begin arguing over things that have nothing to do with the intended subject of the thread.
Now that we have all that covered, I'd like to ask the question. My question is "What do you mean when you say you experience God?". I know not all believers in God claim to experience God, but many believers do claim that they experience God, mostly it has been Christians in my life. In fact, many Christians I've talked to over the years have indicated that a large reason why they are a follower of Christ is because they experience and in some cases even communicate with Jesus/God. If you are a believer and you don't experience this, unfortunately this thread isn't relevant to you. If you do experience this, I would like it if you explained specifically what you mean when you say you experience God. Do you feel certain feelings that you associate with God? Does God communicate to you in some fashion when you pray to him? What exactly is this form of communication? Is it an actual literal voice, or is it something else?
I don't want to sound cold, but I'm not looking for a typical answer like "I feel God's presence in me" or "I feel Jesus in my heart" those are not specific explanations, they aren't even explanations. What exactly do you mean by those statements if you accept them? Please be as specific as you possibly can.
