What is the extent of the pain/damage loneliness can cause?

Being alone doesn't have to cause you any pain. -.-
I'm alone 80% of the day, everyday, and I don't feel lonely at all. I don't crave human contact nor do I want it. I used to feel lonely when I was younger, but I grew out of it when I realized that if people wanted to see me then they would. If someone wanted to date me, then they would ask me out. It's not that big of a deal and you don't need to torture yourself over something so small.
