Welcome to Gaia! ::

Okay. So.... My plans have changed because reasons. Anyways. I am now planning sticking to my original plan of moving to Korea in June instead of Brazil. If I can't get a job lined up before June, I'm just going to fly there, and stay with a friend until I get my own situation figured out. However, I would like to have a job and place to live lined up BEFORE I go, if at all possible. I know that makes the work visa process less cumbersome. Anyways... If any of you have any advice on how to get a job beforehand... Please let me know. I know you have to be careful with the hagwans there.... They can take you for a ride.
There are programs for teaching english abroad, so if you go through them they should help you get a legit job. Those however are temp, as they wouldnt be looking for anything permanetly when they can continue getting forigners to come in, so you need a plan long term that isnt teaching english.

Okay, thank you! I'm hoping to get a year contract or something. My educational background is in the education field and I've taught in Korea before (with a program from my university when I was in college) so I'm hoping that these qualifications can help me find something

I find that it is actually easier to get another position while IN the country and teaching, so if you can get another of those temp jobs there are situations where they will rehire you, or I know like there are local listings that you would need to be there to actually apply for.

ooo have fun while you're here

the advice i got when i was looking for a job was to try and see if you can find networks on facebook for english teachers in korea.. cos sometimes they will post about leaving the country and job openings and things, and that way you're able to directly talk to the person you're replacing and have some idea of what qualifications you need and what the workload is

proofs of a job that seems legit mayb???

Do you have a TEFL certificate to teach English? Because they're not going to take some random kid off the street with no qualifications to teach English, even if it is your native language :S
