Subtle Noises Make Me Wanna...

I don't know if I would describe it as misophonia or what, but when I'm in my room and trying to relax enough to get to sleep, I'll have my fan on and if I can hear noises outside my room over that white noise, even if it's just snippets of sound, it enrages me so entirely that I see red and I literally want to hurt someone.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Well, I don't exactly have that, BUT for me what triggers that complete rage is when I hear somebody chew their food. I just want to stab them in the face with whatever fork/spoon/knife they are using. It makes me want to throw things around. Smash them. Also, drinking warm milk has pretty much the same effect. I don't know why...

That is literally what misophonia is. Not much you can do, except invest in earplugs or sleepphones and play some white noise on your mp3 player. And no, you aren't the only one with this problem. I tend to get ragey if my preferred white noise makers suddenly start making a sound they didn't, or if I plug in something and it makes a high pitch whine due to the electric current running through it. Also the screams and cries of babies and small children tend to make me want to bash their parent's faces in. Pretty much if it's high pitched and repetitive, it makes me want to punch something until it stops. I don't do it. But I want to. Oh how I want to.

I have this. I sleep with a fan on all the time. Sometimes I also put the tv on, or a white noise machine on.

I cannot stand the sound of people breathing, snoring, whistling. It makes me go insane.



On a side note, do you also have sensitive skin? Because I, as well as some other people I know with this noise problem, also have a really sensitive sense of touch, and can't wear certain materials, and can't being lightly touched, get pleasure/comfort from touching soft materials like velvet, and have skin allergies to 90% of personal hygiene products, including creams, soaps, shampoos, toilet papers, feminine hygiene products, toilet papers, laundry detergents, and dryer sheets.

I have the exact same thing. I have to sleep with a fan on, and sometimes additional music. sweatdrop

That's really interesting!! No, I wouldn't say I have sensitive skin, but touching some materials makes my skin crawl (blue jean fabric mainly). And I have these really weird dents in my nails that just crop up randomly but in like a crown pattern, it's so weird. eek
