My first "in real life" boyfriend lives way too far. Help !!

I've been dating my boyfriend for almost a year now, and he was my first kiss, first everything, to say the least.
He used to live not too far away from me when we began dating, but then we broke up around September, got back together, and he had to move out of his house.
He lives like 1 hour away by car, and I have no car, so 2-3 hours away by trains and buses.
He has no money at ALL because he's working on something for a website.. He's a computer programmer and barely gets paid, so he doesn't have the money to always come down here, and nor do I. I have no job, no car!
I barely ever see him. I only get to see him once in a blue moon, and it's really frustrating.
I miss being able to go on multiple dates with him in the week, but now we only go to like a park or stay at my house, because he has a limited amount of time to take the train back to his house.
He's always tired from working, and I can tell because he's always up until like 6-7AM working and sometimes wakes up around like 10AM, so he barely gets any sleep.
Whenever I tell him that I'm upset that I can't see him, he tells me there's nothing we can do, and to stop basing my happiness off of him, cause I really do get upset when I can't see him.
I don't go to school publicly, because I just started online school, so that's a plus.
However my mom won't let me leave my house early in the morning on a week day, because around my neighborhood there's been lots and lots of kidnappings and killings.
I miss him, but I don't know what I can do.
I want to see him, but we both don't have the money to see eachother.
My best friend has taken me twice to go see him, but I feel bad because her and her boyfriend get really bored when they're with us. We don't have the same interests as them, so it's quite hard.
How can I arrange something to where we can both see eachother more then once in a blue moon?

Have to agree with others here. My husband and I were a day's worth of non stop driving and two time zones apart.

We buckled down and we made due with what we had. We chatted nightly on messenger, called when we could, and wrote letters/sent packages to one another when we could.

Even when my laptop went down, I still communicated with him as best I could.

Maybe you guys can set aside time to go see each other? Like every other weekend. And you can alternate traveling. Like one meeting you will go see him and the next meeting he comes to see you? Maybe? sweatdrop

I live with him now, but it was tough.

Just soldier through with it if you love this guy, and if you love him it's worth travelling those extra few hours to see him.

You cant do anything. Neither of you have the ability to drive or pay your way to visit often. So you either suck it up or you end it.

An hours drive is not that bad. Get up off your butt in between school work and get a job, take the bus/train and pay for the ride there and back. My boyfriends in Australia, I'm in California. We make it work, as the girl who has a boyfriend in Sweden we're in the same Dept. At least you communicate via skype/messenger, my boyfriend and I communicate via skype and Trillian, always have contact 24/7. So really, quit complaining and find a job that can start you off if you wanna go anywhere with this relationship. If you don't want to commit, break up and leave it.

My boyfriend lives two and a half hours from me by car, and I recently lost my job. Trust me, its not a big a deal as you think. Yes, you want to be with him more, but if you can't, don't fret; all good things come with time.
I recently lost my job, and how have to make a judgement call of if I'm going to move in with my boyfriend of around three months, or continue living with my mother. I turn 21 this year.

A relationship does not control your happiness, that is honestly just bull.

You have to be happy with your life and know that you will be okay either way. The last person i dated, had a car, i had a job I paid for him to come and see me, when we couldn't i sucked it up and dealt with it, because i was thankful for the times i had.

He is dead now...and i wish a million times i had TRULY been able to tell him i love him, but i couldnt do it.

Keep your head up, and be happy with who you are, under any circumstances...It will all work out
