Welcome to Gaia! ::

I have consistently been taking my pill for over 8 months now, I went to see my boyfriend a couple of months ago and we had unprotected sex.
I did skip my period for that month and never missed one pill, but he didn't use a condom.
So, when I stop taking the pill to have my period it usually literally starts the day after I stop, this time it didn't.
It's been a couple of weeks now and it still hasn't come.

This isn't going to be one of those "WHAT SHOULD I DOOOO?" threads, I'm really just asking for what reliable pregnancy tests you can suggest/what your experiences were within your first two months of pregnancy.

Not having any real experience in this I kinda want to make sure I've bought a good brand, and see if any of my symptoms match up with anybody else's.
If you had sex you can be pregnant. Its pretty easy really.
Well, I know that.
xD
Which is why I'm asking for pregnancy test suggestions.

Honestly I don't spend more than a dollar on pregnancy tests. I go to the dollar store and buy them. And before anyone looks down upon me, I
don't think spending ten dollars for a stick you pee on is reasonable, considering it's one time use. As long as you have waited a reasonable time after your missed period, which you have, any brand should be fine.
Whether it comes out positive or negative, you should schedule a doctor's appointment to have a blood test. Because if you are negative, you want to make sure it's likely you aren't pregnant rather than perhaps maybe. And if it's positive, you want to double confirm it, even if false positives are rare. Also you'd be able to learn more about pregnancy in general and be able to go from there, as far as weigh your options.
Yeah, that's generally what I plan on doing.
Did you find them to be accurate?
It's going to be a while before I can properly afford to go to the Doctor's for a blood test.

I've heard the one that spell it out in writing are more accurate than the + - ones

I have found them to be accurate for me and for other women who use them. Of course I have always tested negative and have not been pregnant, but I know women who swear by them who have gotten positives and were/are pregnant.

The most reliable way to find out would be to go to the doctor's and get a blood test.
The written ones are accurate?
I'll have to have a look when I go downtown next.

@Amor Sempiternus It'll be a while before I can actually go to the doctors so at the moment until I can make that possible I at least want a little bit of an idea on whether I am or not until I get that chance.

It isnt unprotected sex if you were on the pill..

There is no 'bad' brand, just get a few just in case and have a go at it.
I used First Response this time, and that worked fine. Though, with my 7yo, none of my tests came up positive for a few months...first one that did was the store brand (Target) kind. I've never had the EPT kind come up accurate. D:

But that's just me.

No matter what brand you go with, get one that's got more than one test in the box. Take the first one, and then wait a week or two, take the next one. It'll help reassure you that you're getting an accurate result until you can see a doctor.
If you've never taken the pill before your period will be very irregular for the first few months.

Doubling up changes the way your cycle is going to work, and it may take a couple months to get back to normal.

I was on the pill with perfect use (taken same time every day) and never used condoms with my boyfriends, I was never pregnant.

I always use dollar store tests. I buy like 5 and take them all. You just have to make sure you wait for 5 hours before going pee (which is why people say go in the morning) so the pregnancy hormones are absorbed into your pee. They are very faint in the first few weeks which is why some tests don't pick them up. The longer you wait to pee the more accurate the test will be.

Seriously all tests are the same the only thing you're paying for is the fancy 'how far along you are' or the smiley or sad face or whatever. Just get the good old fashioned one or two liner tests.
I used first response because they were on sale, so....

Experience: I was tired all the time. And hungry. Literally, all I did for the first 3-4 weeks after finding out was eat and sleep. My nipples got super dark and were very tender. It was't until about 8 weeks in that I started puking my brains out.

You are a complete and utter ******** moron- just because you just said the following

"It isn't unprotected sex if you were on the pill.."

Fact: Sexual contact without a condom while on B/C is considered unprotected sex because phyiscally there is always a risk of pregnancy WITHOUT PROPER USE OF A CONDOM/FEMALECONDOM/SPONGE/SPERMICIDE ETC. It doesn't matter what brand you use. But then again you're probably the retarded type to believe everything you see on television- so if you are this mental, you probably shouldn't try to hand out advice.

To the girl who posted this topic.
Many girls/women find themselves pregnant by having unprotected sex without proper protection. So they naturally face pregnancy, STD's/STI's HIV/AIDS. (Not saying your boyfriend has any of these. But still, a potential risk no matter what anyone chooses to believe. Unprotected sex is unprotected sex. ) You shouldn't even be posting on here if you're afraid of getting pregnant, especially if you're young and not in a stable relationship.

You should be talking to a doctor at a local clinic or sexual health clinic because they deal with these kinds of things 100% of the time.

You had the right idea about getting on B/C when you decided to become sexually active- but you are very foolish to think that it is perfectly safe to be on the pill and not use any other resource of sexual protection. Go to your doctor and be smart about this.

S
Not afraid per say, just wanting to know of any decent brands of tests until I can get in to go see a doctor about it.
I live in a small town and the Doctor's are ALWAYS booked out, and they cost an arm and a leg- Though I do get back a percentage of it.
So in other words, it might be a couple of months before I get to see a Doctor.

And yeah, not worried about STD's/STI's/HIV/AIDS I made sure he got tested before he came close to me without a condom.

Don't for a second though think that I was foolish and unaware of the risks associated though, it was an informed decision my boyfriend and I made when we first decided to have unprotected sex, we'd been having it for longer then just the time I explained and I never once missed my period.

It just seems we may have been unlucky this one time in the eight months I have been on the pill.

@Delightful_FOOL: Yeah, I tend to get tired a lot too, smells of certain things are making me want to vomit and I always seem to be hungry as well.
Which is a pain.

Considering nothing in the house right now smells good.

Mind, the things making me puke because of the smell is confusing me a little because this is the way I get whenever I'm sick.

Oh, and a pee more then I ever have.
