Is it weird to give your therapist a valentines gift?

She's been my doctor for about eight months and i really like her,as a doctor. So would it be weird to give her a card and a stuffed animal? Without her i probably wouldn't be here and shes the best therapist I've had.

I don't think so. She may enjoy the gift, and it's great that she's working so well for you! As long as the card doesn't confess your undying love though, I don't see anything wrong with it razz

I wouldn't if I were you.
A lot of therapists won't even accept gifts, and for good reason. The relationship between a therapist and a patient is very intimate, and sometimes things get complicated, like transference, when the patient projects infatuation upon the therapist.

Even if that isn't what's going on here (and I see no evidence that it is), it;s best to keep things professional. Especially with the holiday being Valentine's Day and all.

A card is fine, a stuffed animal is pushing it a little. I'm a therapist and we have incredibly strict guidelines on accepting gifts in our Code of Ethics. I received dozens of Christmas cards, but I had to give the candy back. sad
