Extreme boyfriend issue

So Sunday night my boyfriend and i were hanging out and i always joke around with the pimples he has on his back, so i was joking and popped one. usually he doesn't do anything, but this time he turned on me sad . he kicked my in the leg, shoulder, and stomach. It hurt but not too bad. He had this look in his eye, i thought he was going to beat me. I burst into tears and starting shaking. He can back to the normal boy he always is.
Its been 3 days now and i still am a little scared of him. I don't know what to do.
I want to break up with him, but its almost 9 months and i do truely love him. IDK what to do!!!
He promised it would never happen again but it still bugs me.
Everytime i even mention breaking up because of it he goes crazy saying hes taken all my s**t and he does one thing wrong and i end it.. idk what to do x[[
