SO, I've never had to ask this question before, and I'd ask my doctor (who provided me with my pills) but they're closed till monday, and I know someone has had to have had this problem before.

Anyways. I've been on birth control for over a year and a half, had to stop and started again. Everything was going fine for me. I'm 18, so don't worry about my age and such.

SOO...I went camping with my boyfriend and his family starting Wednesday, and got home last night. Because of my stupidity, and rushing to get things in the car (Because we we're running late to meet with my boyfriends brother- our ride-) Loser a** me forgot to grab my pack of pills. and by time I figured it out, it was too late to come back, because its about a 30 minute drive from his house back to mine, and we didn't have an hour to spare.

so, I didn't take them wed, thurs, or friday. When I woke up this morning, I had planned to take today's pill, and yesterdays like I'd normally do had I missed a pill (I don't know if it works the same if i missed three) so I took them, and went to take a shower..but I was already bleeding (Its a week or so too early for that.) But another thing, it wasn't just the plain brownish you get the first day...but it was already petty red, and seemed like it almost had a clear coating over it (that what it looked like)

But anyways, my question is, if I start to bleed early, do I just skip that last week and take the green (sugar) pills? Or what? Again, I can't ask my Dr. Till Monday.

Okay... usually when you miss three or more pills, you completely ignore the ones you missed, and keep taking them as usual. You will just not be very well protected until you start a new pack.

The instructions though should state the parameters to this problem, though.

Read the packet of instructions. Every pill is different: with mine, if I miss 3 pills, I have to throw away the pack, start a new one, will prob miss my period that month, and may experience spotting. It's probably normal.

With mine if I miss three, I have to throw out the first pack and start a new one. read the instructions that came with the pills.

My pack says that I should keep taking them as normal, but skip my pill free week (or sugar pill week for you) and go straight onto the next pack.

So from what I've read you have three different options. Read the instructions that came with you pills, or try to look up brand specific instructions online if you don't have the leaflet.

I would highly suggest calling a local pharmacist. They are usually very helpful with these sorts of things. Either through Wal-Mart or Walgreens or something of that sort. I've noticed that CVS pharmacists tend to be the most educated when it comes to answering problems, but call around.

From personal experience, I would suggest Googling your problem or trying to find the instruction packet that came with the pills. However, at this point, you could be able to have a normal period now and just start a new pack a week from when you started bleeding.

It really all depends on your pill type and what would be best for your body.

If you haven't made up your mind, I'd highly suggest posting this question in Fizzlesticks' Safer Sex Kit Thread and see what response you get. The people there are very educated and they know what they're talking about, so I'd advise posting this question there anyway, in case this may happen in the future. In the meantime, SERIOUSLY call a pharmacist. They may be able to offer you advice that you may not have thought of yet.

Hope this helps, and good luck. If you have any more questions let me know, I'll do what I can. =)

If I miss three pills on my birth control my period starts, even if I start taking the pills again after those three days.

It says that you're supposed to throw the pack away.

You can get it to ease down temporarily (down to a spotting amount) if you take three one day, two the next, and one the next, and then finish out your pack, but you will probably bleed again once you start on the sugar pills.

I hesitate to give advice, because the instructions vary between pills. Basically, I'd track down your pamphlet - even if you have to find a copy online - and see what it recommends.

This site might be helpful in terms of finding the pamphlet for your pill: http://community.livejournal.com/pillpamphlets/

Thanks for all the fish!

It's very likely that missing the pills caused your period to start early. I would ask your doctor or pharmacist about where in the pack you should restart from.

Check the instructions that comes with the birth control packet to be sure, but I'm pretty sure if you miss three or more, you're just supposed to start a whole new pack.

Your body probably just thought it was period time.

With mine, Ortho Trycyclen Lo (most likely mispelled), if I miss three I've been told to continue as usual.

Though I caution you, take my advice with a grain of salt.

Since you've missed a few, stop taking that pack , your period will come
and start again . ( thats what I was told to do , I'm on Yasmin )
