Honestly, I don't think you should have this cat, until you learn better self-control.
You should get some help with the self-harm, and try and find another outlet to exercise your control over... maybe take up a sport of sorts or martial art?

The change from self-harm to 'torturing' your cat is neither good or bad, it's just another form of expressing the issue, unless you've always felt urges to 'torture' things.. so yeah, unless you actually want to slowly kill your cat or can't control yourself or see what your doing is wrong I'd say you just need to learn some control and deal with whatever issue caused you to start harming yourself in the first place.

Wow... I was very shocked when I found out that the OP was a 14 y.o. girl... Here were my initial thoughts after reading the first post:

A 6 year old boy who's definition of 'self-harm' is intentionally hitting your head against a wall repeatedly... My advice to the 6 y.o. To the 14 y.o. girl: Yes, you are abusive, I think you have emotional/mental issues that need to be adressed. Talk to a school counseler, they're free, and they can offer some help.

I've been self-harming for a few years. I really need to stop. And I have. For 6 months. In replacement to that great feeling, I torture my cat to feel happy...Well, "alright" and able to function. I torture my cat instead of hurting myself. Is this a step in better-ness or worst?

I'm so confused. I love hearing his little squeaky meows. Those little meows that are a cry of help...Or a simple "stop it" meow. He's so cute that I would like to squeeze him to death. I love holding him and hugging him until I feel like he's suffocating and can't breathe. I love his little pink nose, and how he sneezes. He's so soft and fluffy. I wish I could sleep with him at night, but he's an outdoor cat. Is something wrong with me? I never get to see him since I'm not allowed to go outside. But sometimes when my parents are working, I sneak out and play with him.

I think what you could do is figure out ways how to prevent yourself from harming anything. Have you talked about this to your parents? If you can't even talk to them about this, talk to a counsellor and see if they'll be able to get in touch of your parents about what can be done with this condition. You need to be able to speak with a mature, intelligent (not the IDIOTS in this thread who just want to be disrespectful, acting as if they know what they're talking about... at least most of them are but not all of them) adult who happen to be concerned about your well-being. Not only will you be better informed by the counsellors but also help treat this condition before it gets worse.
