It would if a many people from many companies were to stop buying stuff from Japan - cars, games, whatever. Their economy has started to take a hit because they had to shut down production for certain things temporarily. It will continue to take a hit for some time. The world does not necessarily want to see their economy crash again. Especially since it will have an effect on the economy for the rest of the world too.

I buy a lot of Japanese things. I like Japanese food items. I am not worried about radiation. We're not getting imports from Fukushima. And I'm sure my government is watching imports carefully.
