“Very interesting and all, but…no demons in the game, hm? Somehow I doubt Death Gods were accounted for either.” Darien frowned a bit, not sure what to make of the woman’s account. “Can you show me this game? Or…will that not be possible?” He looked around the room, realizing they had no modern technology or even electricity in this world. It would be some time, if ever before he could understand what Paige was talking about. He sighed, trailing off until the woman mentioned the fire of earlier.

“Oh, fire?” The demon repeated, “You mean…like this?” he furrowed a brow, hand held out as he manipulated the blue-violet flames from earlier. “I suppose so. It is not much, simply an ability my family line shares, blood of the Ifrit—ah never mind. Need to know basis only, hm?” He shook his head, likely revealing far too much. He didn’t want to…overwhelm the poor woman.

“Forget I said anything about that, hm?” With a careful flick of his wrist all the lamps in the room were burning with the blue light—giving the room an almost ethereal glow.

“Demons, that’s right. Surprisingly those Heartless are a mystery even to me. But, I assume we are a mystery to you, Miss Evans. So, I will tell you all you need to know and nothing more unless you so ask. Firstly, being demons we are immortal. I am much older than I look, of course.” He managed an amused and knowing smile, “Of course, the majority of demons are only out for themselves. We are a selfish race, not unlike humans but I know you will contest to that. We only strive to do what will be to our benefit, we are out for ourselves. However…we do sometimes form contracts. Those are binding and despite being terrible creatures we are far more loyal than another race, I can assure you. It is this point that relates to your family, Miss Evans. For I have been serving the Phantomhive family for generations. They have been secretly serving the Royal Family as…well, as guard dogs basically. They once ruled what was once London’s underground. Once, as I assume it is…quite destroyed now.” He looked distraught for a moment, as if considering what to do next.

“Therefore, none of that really matters now. I still believe you should know. As for my connection to this game or dream or whatever it may be…I do not know. I did not account for this to happen when I escorted you from your school and because of this mess I am rather at a loss. However…” He trailed off, eyes flicking to the woman’s features. She was remarkably stable, she was not even remotely afraid or distraught at having lost her home, her life… “You are a mystery to me. Are you holding up so well after all that has happened?”
Paige wondered if she could show it to him. Would it exist in other worlds? And if it did, would it be the same...Would they even see any of those worlds? Before she woke up that was, before she woke up and it all vanished. But she couldn't think about that for long.

All attention suddenly shooting to Darien's hands the young woman's jaw dropped as she saw the flames appear. They were absolutely beautiful. Reluctantly nodding her agreement that only the basis would be best Paige was, in reality, terribly curiosity. She wanted nothing more than to know all the details, fire like that, control over such a thing, it was amazing... Eyes darting about the room at in awe at the change in surroundings Paige took in everything from the walls, to the metalic decorations, to even the pillows in a new light.

Listening closely to the man and feeling ill at ease it was not until he used her proper last name for the second time that Paige looked back to him. It was hard to believe that Darien was such a thing. Demons were supposed to be monsters. Creatures with horns, and red skin, and tails and terrible dispositions. Darien was no such thing. Though she supposed the description of his job was fairly hellish...Even if it was her family's job. Ruling the underground? Paige could not imagine working with the lawless and dangerous, it was a good thing it was destroyed she supposed...Though she did find herself sad to see the demon look so uncertain about his sutiation.

Tensing under Darien's gaze Paige shrunk back slightly with a nervous smile, "Oh I...Well, causing an issue won't do anything, will it?" chuckling quietly she brought her legs up to her chest, arms wrapped around her legs, "So...Evans then?" Paige questioned with an uncertain tone of voice, "If it's all gone I just remain Paige Evans?" Perhaps the family wasn't as important to him as she first thought, but he did still seem distraught over the loss, "Kind of sad." she risked a slightly playful smile, "That was a very nice plane, I could have gotten used to that."

“Would you prefer to be Miss Phantomhive? Or Lady Phantomhive, I suppose, considering your status. I was uncertain if you would bear the title left to you by your late father, considering everything that was attached to it. I am afraid however…that the luxuries that come with the name are harder to find in these worlds. I don’t suppose this will be of much use.” Saying that, the demon pulled out a silver credit card and stared at it a moment. It was one of those lovely limitless platinum kinds, it could get one practically anywhere however in a world where there were no such things as plastic money, it was useless.

“You’re nervous.” He noted with a smile, relaxing his position and turning his eyes again to the woman. “You do not have to be. Whether you believe me or not, I’m not going to harm you. Really, I see no point in it. Besides, you hold the blood of the family I am bound to, and no matter the world I suppose that puts me into the obligation of keeping you out of harm’s way. More or less. These circumstances make things rather difficult.” He turned his eyes to the window, feeling the storm was getting worse. He could hear the terrible winds outside, the cracking thunder. It was all the more amplified in the quiet surroundings.

“What would you prefer I call you? And…how would you like to be treated? It is really up to you. I mean, with your family I was a butler, I served them as such. But we have no mansion, and we have no real rules I suppose. I may be a demon, but you are still a Phantomhive.”
"Oh! N-No I didn't mean it like that!" Even if she was told not to be nervous there was little that Paige could do to stop herself. Tensing and turning a faint shade of red she felt completely ashamed that the conversation might have seemed as if she were trying to get something out of the man. Yes, it was nice, it was grand really, something she could get used to. But she had no right, it wasn't hers!

"I-I don't expect you to treat me like anything o-or do anything for me...Not that I'm not grateful!" she seemed even more panicked at the thought that she might have just insulted the demon. Hands unwrapped from her legs she held them out, palms facing Darien, as if she needed to assure him that she was unarmed, "It doesn't matter what my family is or has. Was, had...You don't owe me anything at all, you can do what you want and call me what you want-" she laughed, albiet nervously, "A-as long as it isn't anything bad I mean...It-just...Sorry!" she quickly stood, stumbling over a few pillows and trying to leave to get back to the door. He didn't want her disturbing him, she had come in without asking, and the fact that she was essentially lost within the palace was, well, lost on her.

“You do not have to leave so soon.” The demon managed a smile, resting his head against his hand as he stared at the woman, trying to understand her a bit better. She was a strange girl, but not unpleasant. Too innocent though, she would get herself in trouble no doubt.

“You do not know where your room is, Lady Phantomhive.” He managed a smile, standing from the pillows and moving far more carefully around them than the poor, flustered woman. “Is that all right, considering you do not seem very fond of the title ‘My Lady’ usually adorned with the current Lord…or Lady in this case, of the house. You may stay here if you like, I honestly have no need for sleep.” He paused, “What I meant by that was that you are welcome to spend your time here, not that you are really bothering me.” He chuckled, thinking of how suspicious it might sound. He glanced once over to the window and moved to pull the curtain back slightly to gaze out at the fierce storm. “We will not be able to depart for some time it seems.”
Pausing and turning a deeper shade of red Paige glanced back to Darien with an expression that clearly read 'I am not a lady'. Glancing away form the man and playing with her hands she wondered if she should remind him that there was no Phantomhive house and thus, she was not a lady of anything. But that seemed to completely contradict her desire to help him accept the strange accomadations he found himself within. They all needed a bit of reality to hold on to. If it wasn't for the fact that she had lost her pet Paige would have likely been happy to forget all that had been lost and accept that what had happened was the truth.

"I never said I didn't like it." she murmured. She was just terribly embarassed, lady? Really? Reluctantly moving further into the room again Paige kept as wide as berth as possible around the demon, while at the same time trying to get as close to the window as she could to see the storm. It was getting closer, "The world has to be locked, that's what the Keyblade bearer does. Defeats the Heartless and locks the world by the keyhole." Her voice was quiet, embarassed. It had been such a long time since she had played, she could easily be wrong, "Usually the end result has something more to do with the people of the world though, to find the boss, not just the heartless."

“Where do you find these…locks?” Darien sighed, running a hand through his hair as was habit when he was flustered though one would have to look rather closely to notice any change on his expression. It seemed like a rather large hassle now, and they had to fight something even more powerful than the heartless from before? It seemed not only difficult but dangerous. At least they would know what needed to be done this time but really…what could they expect?

“I suppose we speak to the prince then, he may know more of what needs to be done. Certainly he must know of this chaos in the city. Or that strange shinigami man…he seems to know more than he lets on.” He started for the door, “You should get some proper sleep. It seems we will be here for some time but never the less…anything could happen you should be prepared. I am going to search out the palace and see if I cannot find anything amiss.”
Paige frowned, not wanting Darien to leave her alone, but an exploration of the palace would be far more useful than him remaining in his room. Besides, if she managed to go to sleep, did she really want someone there staring at her?

"Alright...Don't get lost." she put her smile back in place at her little joke, she couldn't imagine a demon getting lost after all.

"Hmmm~" Tapping long black nails against his lips Undertaker stared up at the grand curtains that blocked off the prince's room from the rest of the palace. The guards that were ever present infront of their ruler's door were calmly sleeping. Beant over, backs against the wall, not their usual position in the least. Undertaker was quite confident that they would not be waking up any time soon, with a mild headache, but well.

"Very stylish." Pushing aside the oppulent fabric the shinigami stepped in with little concern. He was quite curious. It wasn't that he hadn't been within the inner chamber's of a royal's home before, but the inner chambers of an other worldly noble? No, that did not happen every day, not even for Undertaker. So it was with appreciative eyes, if anyone caught a glimpse of them, that he took in the large abode that was Sabir's personal chambers. Really, if one wanted to become technical about it, their own rooms suddenly looked like dog houses compared to how well the prince was treated. Large and spacious, practically a miniature gilded castle all to himself...No matter what the world, it seemed that nobles were always spoiled.

"But not quite..." Undertaker reminded himself, laughing as he thought about the lost little princess. That really did have to be remedied. Culture or not, nothing good came from dividing a family in such a manner, "Sab~ir? Are you in here?" the shinigami hoped that he wasn't asleep, or worse, enjoying some of the company that had been offered tot hem. As much as he enjoyed awkward situations, there was business to attend to.

“And of those strange creatures? Where did they come from?”

Voices echoed in the large room, one was undoubtedly the accented tone of the prince, the other unrecognizable.

“My Lord, they are creatures from a land far away. I have studied them and I know how to subdue them. You must trust me, if you give me control of the city then I will guarantee your safety as well as your palace and standing. These silly affairs are not worthy of your attention.” The man speaking was clearly not Arabic. He had a mane of wavy blond hair pulled into a silken bow and while he wore the extravagant clothing of the royals of the palace it was clear he was no prince. His voice as well was not of this land, clearly from another world.

“My Advisor…I trust you of course. Please tend to this matter.”

“Thank you, my Liege.” The blond man smirked, the smallest traces of fangs visible from his lips. “I am honored to serve you as such. As a bit of advice, please do be careful around that woman that is your sister. She is not who she appears to be.”

“Nadia? Did something happen to Nadia--!?” Both pairs of eyes turned to look at Undertaker as he called out to Sabir and stepped into the room. The prince was shocked, the blond man looked displeased.

“I see My Lord’s love for foreigners has turned our palace into a guesthouse. Please do be careful, my prince.” The blonds’ almost incandescent eyes flashed dangerously as he laid eyes on the silver haired man, as if he could sense he was not human…and certainly that he did not belong.

“You are dismissed, Lestat.” Sabir spoke to the blond and he immediately swept into a fluid bow before turning gracefully on his heel and sweeping out of the room—not without a disapproving look to the silver haired intruder first.

“You surprise me, dear guest. How is it you managed to enter this room?” The prince looked puzzled as he looked over at Undertaker knowing full well it was guarded at all times.
Chuckling as he watched the strange man leave Undertaker's fingers were pressed together in a steeple formation infront of him. He did not let his eyes leave the strange man, well aware of the same things that he was and thoroughly amused. Waiting until the foreigner slipped completely out of the room before turning back to the prince. He wondered what the strange creature would think of seeing the guards sleeping outside...Ah, no matter. Looking back up to Sabir the shinigami's smile grew.

"Ah, just a little bit of persuasion." he replied with a strange wave of his hand that meant nothing, "They know I meant no harm, just visiting the dear prince before bed. In fact, I am surprised that you are up conducting business at such an hour." He laughed, "I know another young noble who does not know when his age should rest...But I do not believe there is much of a comparison between you." Tapping his lips thoughtfully Undertaker pictured the pampered earl within Sabir's palace. He could not stop another laugh at the thought. The sound died away quickly enough and the shinigami glanced the way Lestat had gone.

"He is right, you do seem to have a love for the strange." his smile grew as he looked back to Sabir, "I like that, very few people have such an open mind." Crossing the space between him and the prince he rested an arm mover Sabir's shoulders and pressed a nail against his soft cheek, "A foreigner as an advisor though, hmmm? How did he manage that position?"

“Ah well…” Sabir looked in surprise to the man, quite confused and slightly uncomfortable with his unusually close contact. “He came to me a few months prior, bearing news and tales of faraway lands and having ancient knowledge on how to protect my fair city. It is also he who knows of these creatures. I trust him completely; foreigner or not he is invaluable.” The prince flicked his eyes to the door, where his advisor had disappeared (likely not at all happy with the turn of events and the guards lying outside.)

“And you, my friend…” He managed a smile, though his brow was still furrowed as the strange man remained so close. “How is your stay, do you find my palace to your liking? I heard news of what happened in the plaza earlier today, you and your companions have aided my city well. I am thankful for that. Unfortunately…I believe the city is still in danger and thus, you and your friends will be as well. I do not understand your purpose here, of course you are welcome but the protection of my city comes first. Please, take care of yourselves and find a way out while you are still able.”
"It was our pleasure, truly." Undertaker assured him, "And thank you for your concern, but we are here to deal with those creatures, far better than your glittery advisor can I assure you. Without even asking for control of your land in return." Laughing at such an idea Undertaker pulled away, but remained behind Sabir, nail tracing along his spine of the young prince. A rather chilling experience with his oddly cared for nails, "You should be far more concerned about that...Man, than anything else at the moment." Pulling away with a laugh he stepped infront of Sabir, looking down on the prince with hands steepled together again, "But, of course, this is not any of my business. You are the one in charge." he gave a small bow that could very easily be considered mocking. But it was always difficult to tell with Undertaker.

"But yes, the stay, I forgot your question. Your accomadations are absolutely wonderful. It has been a long time since I have been treated so well, thoroughly enjoy it, I assure you. It will be a very depressing day when we do have to leave." nodding at his own words Undertaker started to move further into the room, examining the finery about him, "So...How long ago did the Heartless appear here?"

“Ah…but he is my advisor I trust him com…pletely…” Sabir tensed, confused as much as fascinated by the other man’s strange tendencies. He was some kind of enigma, dangerous and powerful perhaps but the prince did not feel threatened by the guest. He sighed, a distressed look crossing his features as he once again recalled those strange monsters that were harming his people.

“That was…about a month ago. The first strange shadow creature showed up right around the time that the palace was undergoing changes. I remember it clearly, there was a lot of tension because new laws were passed. Women were denied rights they previously had such as choosing their own suitors, and Nadia…my sister, she was banished from the palace because she refused to take the hand of a suitor. It was around then, and at first it was only one or two…it wasn’t nearly as bad as it is now. I think it is getting worse.” The man looked up with pleading eyes, hoping that this stranger knew something he did not. “If you can, I appreciate the help. Do be careful. We have weapons but they do little against these monsters, they are inhuman.”
"Hmmm...Two events so closely intertwined." speaking to himself Undertaker pulled at the fabric of some of the prince's clothes sitting carefully folded up and unworn. Tugging at the fabric and watching it shift and change as the candle light hit it in different ways, "You are very trusting for a noble. I like that too." Another tug, another laugh, he set it down and continued his investigation. The walls, the pillows, statues and jewelry. It was as if he would not be content until he had a chance to give a brief examination of each, "And your friend..." a nail tapped against the trunk of a large golden elephant, the sound echoing through the room, "Lestat, yes?" he looked back to Sabir, smile in place as ever, but tone knowing and serious, "You do not find it funny that some strange man arrives prior to, and knows so much of, creatures this world has never seen?"

“Well…he is…a mystery to say the least. But I have always had a soft spot for mysteries. I do not believe he will harm me, he made a contract after all. He gives me advice and protection as long as I allow him a spot in the palace. He does not desire much, why he seldom touches the women and he always seems to be looking for something…You will perhaps trust him more if you get to know him.” Sabir looked uncomfortable, thoughts running through his head without basis. “I am rather tired now, I wish to retire to bed. If you have more questions, I will be available in the morning.” It was a dismissal. He was not certain who to trust or what to believe and he wanted time to his own thoughts.

Lestat remained outside, in the shadows of the hallway listening in. He was no louder than a mouse, eyes narrowed in anger at the stranger that dared talk about him as such. How dare he?! Why he had no right! The blond drew his lips into a thin line, waiting for the silver haired stranger to emerge from the room. He would have to get rid of these troublesome people…especially this man. He knew far too much.
