What just happened...? Mike stared up at the orange and pink sky with the blankest stare he'd ever made in his life. Was he still alive? Surely he was, or he wouldn't be feeling the snow melt into the back of his jacket or the cold stinging his neck, but just now, it felt like he had been drowning. He had stared death in the face and somehow he was still breathing. "...tionally? Did she hurt you?" Holly's words caused him to flinch a little and snapped him back somewhat. Was he hurt? He didn't feel any pain...More aware of reality now, Mike slowly sat up, still looking straight ahead, and took a sharp breath. He let it out just as harshly and finally processed Holly's questions. "That...I'm not...I need to go home," he answered as he picked himself up off the ground.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Jeff got up from the bed and watched the vampire, muttering under his breath, "I can think of plenty of things wrong with you." He seemed to be safe for now, with how oddly bipolar this girl was, and given enough time, he could probably find something in here to kill her with. Maybe throw her in a tub of holy water, though she would probably tear his face off before he got anywhere near her. He couldn't just let her loose though, not after she mentioned wanting to feed off Holly something-or-another. "You know, she's probably far, far away, and here I am, all defenseless, just for you. You may as well use this to your advantage..." There had to be something he could use...Maybe that lamp by him just happened to be made of silver...

Holly sprang up and helped him to his feet "You're right I'll help you home...I'm so sorry Mike I should never have gotten you involved in this. Please forgive me," she wanted to say more but clamped her mouth shut, lest she start crying, "Just let me help you home." Then I'll leave. She left the last unspoken, the words choked up in her tightening throat threatening with on coming tears.

"Are you trying to bait me? Seems unlike a selfish fool like you. I know just where she is, I could find her no matter the distance, wherever she went, I'll never stop until I taste that nectar of her life blood. I'll never kill her, she'll be my thrall and my bloodslave til the end of time and I will have power to challenge the purebloods and enact a new order where those who are turned rather than born are no longer SLAVES OF THOSE WEAK MINDED FOOLS." the vampire hissed at first then slowly crescendoed to a shout at which point she leaped up and puchned a hole in the window before pulling back. The sun was still setting, she couldn't hunt her prey with impunity yet. And she had this human to contend with. Truly what to do. When she turned slowly from the window, one eye was a burning crimson while the other remained its normal emerald green. "I don't want to hurt anyone." she said quite calmly. It was quite obvious she was completely off her rocker.

"Huh...? Yeah, 'kay..." Mike answered in such a way it was so obvious he hadn't heard a word Holly said. He exited the alley and nearly jumped right back in when someone walked past him on the sidewalk, as if that thing would pop out again to grab him. With a deep breath, not any calmer than before, he continued on his way down the street towards his tattoo parlor with his subconscious acting as his navigation. He took the back way to his loft this time, up some rusted, creaky metal stairs in the alley, and fumbled around for his keys. They were somewhere in his coat, and with only 4 pockets, it shouldn't have been that hard to find them, and yet here he was, not finding them.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This girl was insane. Jeff knew she wasn't exactly normal, not counting the fact that she was a vampire, but this one was especially crazy. Blood slaves? Challenging purebloods? He may as well be the one killing the victims if he were to let her out of this hotel room, but what could he do? Desperate, he leapt forward in an attempt to tackle her against the wall, hoping that should she try anything, he'd have the reflex in his mangled muscles to react.

Holly reached into Mike's pocket, he didn't seem to realize he had checked the same three and missed the last. It worried her, but solidified in her mind that she had no choice, no other options, and that this was truly best. She unlocked the door silently, her chest ached painfully, but she remembered what she had been taught. She shut down internally. It was for the best. Jack had wanted her to try, to feel, to escape their family as he had wanted to for so long. It seemed they had both failed. She pushed Mike over to a couch and got him a glass of water as well. She would leave, but not before knowing he was alright. She stood back from him after handing him the glass and stared him in the eyes, his clouded with confusion, her's as distant as they had once been.

"Mike, how are you feeling?"

Penny's face distorted. The green eye twitched in fear eyebrow wrinkled up in shock, while the crimson side glared. She gasped, which quickly turned to a snarl. She squirmed in his arms then suddenly bite his neck, then stopped biting and jerked her head back, then moaned and licked at the bite mark, thirsty for the blood but at the same time repulsed at how horrible it seemed after drinking Holly's. She slowly leaned her head on his shoulder and started to cry. A grown vampire pinned to the wall by a regular human and unable or unwilling to move or to kill him. "I just...w-w-want...t-to drink...her b-blood..." she sobbed.

A man with a why to live....

Raphael's sleek black car pulled into the compound. He stalked back to his mansion at the back of the inner compound while brooding over the thought of proper Hunters threatening his pack. He decided rather promptly he would interrogate both Jack and the vampire girl, Elli, about the news to see if they had heard anything from their respective circles. He breathed in the quickly cooling night air, but did not catch a hint of their scents within the compound. He caught a nearby scout, "Where are they?" The young pup knew immediately who his alpha was referencing. "Uh...ah...they were last seen near the wall of the outer compound together. I don't know, I wasn't posted to track them sir. Sorry sir." Raphael grabbed him by the collar and heaved him into a snow bank while shouting, "Unescorted!? They should have been watched closely at all times!"

Raphael immediately stripped off his shirt, transformed to his half beast form, and leaped to the top of the inner compound's wall. His eyes searched the darkening forest and he breathed deeply for their scent. Very distinct. They hadn't traveled far, though it was no surprise really. They were in no shape and would only hurt themselves further at the rate they were going. Raphael felt his anger bubbling like molten lava in his gut as he snarled, misty breath climbing into the night sky as he dropped into the snow on the opposite side of the wall. He changed to full wolf form for maximum speed and stealth as he pursued the two.

Jack struggled on, laughing quietly to himself from time to time, not completely aware of his surroundings any longer. He was overwhelmed at how calm he felt in the forest as it slowly grew darker. He coughed slightly and held his stump of an arm. His jet black eyes cleared somewhat as he glanced around. "Elli, we're not alone," he whispered, "I don't know how, but I can feel him. The guy...you know the scary guy...s**t..." Jack found he suddenly had no control over his breathing. He thought he saw a shadow dart between the trees and flinched back at it, panting heavily and grasping at his wound in fear. He hadn't felt fear like this...possibly ever.

Mike took his jacket off as Holly walked out of his vision and leaned back against the old couch. Everything still felt so unreal, but here he was, in the one-room loft he moved into years ago, sitting on the couch he bought around the same time. He looked up when he was handed the glass and just held it in his lap as he gathered his thoughts. Nothing had eaten him up yet, so maybe it was...safe? "I uh..." he stuttered out quietly and dropped his gaze to his cup. A tiny, crooked half smile formed and it appeared in his voice as well, though drowning in nervousness, "S-sorry I didn't jump out of the hole in the floor in time. Still working on this whole...magic thing, ha..."

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Jeff was actually very...surprised he had managed to even get in physical contact with her, let alone pin her. Now that he was actually in this position, he had no idea what he could possibly do. He definitely did not have enough strength to simply tear her head off, not that he had enough to think of other options anyway. Her fangs dug into his neck much more painfully that he had thought and they were pulled out just as badly. "I swear if you turn me..." He noticed the glass all around them from the broken window and grabbed the largest piece he could find. There was some hesitation when she suddenly started crying against him but the blood from his neck running down his chest reminded him of her lack of humanity. With all his possible strength, he brought it down towards her neck, telling himself her crying was a lie.

User ImageJack probably wasn't hallucinating from hypothermia, was he? He was laughing at a rather strange time and it was beginning to worry (read: scare) Elli. She kept her grip on him tight and scanned the area for any landmarks or shelter where they could get their bearings. "We can't be that far from town, right?" Of course, just as she was trying to reassure and the situation seem less horrible, Jack brought bad news. She couldn't tell if there was anyone else around them with her abysmal sense of vampire smell, but she could feel...glaring. It felt just like the look she got from Raphael right before she was thrown out the window and her heart began to race. "Wh-what do we do? Run?"

"What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."

Holly Archer&Penelope Rosemont

"It's alright," Holly reassured him, "I should never have expected to escape, and I should never have brought this to you." Holly sighed inwardly, for just a little while, in that cafe, she had thought of other things than magic and death in her future. Now she knew it was impossible. She had to face her fate. In a moment. Once she knew he was alright. Then she could face the world.

"Mike, can you look into my eyes for a moment? I need to check something. I want to know you're alright." She didn't bother being candid, she didn't feel uncomfortable around him, because she had already given him up in her mind. It was the only way to keep him safe.
~

The glass shard sliced into the side of the vampire's neck and came to a jarring halt at her spinal cord. Her whole body went still, her red bangs covered her mismatched eyes temporarily as her arms, half raised to embrace or attack the man who had pinned her to the wall, slid to the floor.Her shoulders slumped, and her head dipped forward slightly. Deep, red blood oozed out of the wound and down the glass, staining it up to his fingers. For a couple seconds she did not stir, then the corner of her mouth twitched upwards slightly. Her head tilted back upright slowly, glass in neck, her eyes became unshadowed. They were glowing sickly maroon red and were flat and full of hatred. A horrible grin spread across her face. "That wasn't very nice, now was it," she murmured viciously. A trickle of blood leaked out the corner of her mouth as she spoke, and her muscles tensed under Jeff preparing to strike back, but then her head lolled back against the wall, causing another rush of blood out the gaping neck wound. her eyes closed, and Penelope Rosemont ceased moving.

A man with a why to live....

"How about...yeah...yeah...run, RUN!" Jack muttered almost hysterically then shouted at the last as Raphael Black lunged out of the snowy woods to pursue the pair. Jack found he felt quite fit, perhaps his new LYCANTHROPE powers had healed him more effectively than he had realized. Even so he could not keep his balance for the life of him, running with only one arm pumping, the only arm he had.

Raphael pursued the pair almost leisurely for a time, his anger almost burnt itself out, he hadn't had a true run like this in a while. Then he paused a moment, recalled how he had taken a risk and put trust in the vampire girl. Was it so hard for orders to be followed? Was it so difficult to simply be patient? His anger bubbled back up and he leaped back into the chase, determined to find them both and bring them to task. He ran full pelt then cut to the side of the forest as he over took them, he shifted to half beast form and waited a moment, just breaths ahead of the duo who ran blindly forward, though Jack should have been fully aware of the trap ahead. Raphael rushed out from their right and blindsided Jack. He was flung off course and hit a tree with a resounding snap! Before slumping into the snow at the base of the trunk. Raphael swung his huge paw around and struck at Elli. He pinned her to the snowy ground with a paw on the center of her chest. His huge fangs loomed over her as his maw puffed out steam into the cold air.

"I trusted you," he snarled, as he pressed down on her rib cage savagely, his voice was barely human in this form, and quite literally a snarl, "All you had to do was stay there. Can you not understand the position you are in? Captive! Prisoner!" His last words came out almost as short barks. He glanced away a moment at Jack. The pup was still breathing. Good.

User ImageWhat's that smell? Elli wondered as they ran through the woods at a less than desirable pace. She may have been part vampire, but she certainly didn't have the speed to match Liz. That scent, however, was definitely something she had encountered recently, now that she thought about it. It was different...yet the same...Her pondering was cut short when a huge black blur knocked Jack away and sent her flying in the other direction.

It felt like falling from a window all over again. She couldn't breathe from the hit to her chest and now there was a wolf standing on her. That was what the scent was. She remembered his blood, the base scent being that of werewolf. "I...I don't..." her voice came out wheezy, her ribs beginning to fracture under the pressure. She grabbed his arm, trying to wrench it off, but how could she win against a werewolf of his size?

That's right, she was part human. Most of the time, it felt like she had no vampire blood in her at all. She couldn't even use what little extra strength she was gifted to help Jack escape. Instead, they were probably going to die, and it was all because she suggested to run. "He didn't...deserve any of this..." She choked out, tearing up like the cry baby she was, and continued to tug at his arm. It was like trying to move a truck. Utterly useless and a waste of energy. She sighed out what little air she had mustered and let her head fall back into the snow. Staring up at Raphael in defeat, she noticed how big the moon was behind him, looking full, but off by just a few slivers. What a nice view to die to.

In that moment, her left eye, normally brown, stained an ice blue and reflected the light of the moon in red. Feral instinct took over Elli's conscious and her grip shot back onto his arm, much tighter than before. The petite lifted it and threw him off her to flip them and rip his neck open with her fangs.

"I mean...I don't...mind, I suppose..." Mike couldn't find any of the right words. He could tell Holly felt bad, and he himself felt bad for not being able to accept all of this as smoothly as he would've liked. A small sigh. Looking up at her, his fingers tightened around his glass as his tiny smile faded. "I'm really, really trying. I just need...time."

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Jeff didn't care that the glass was cutting straight through his palm, he just wanted this vampire to stay put right here where he could see her. Also, to hopefully not have his throat ripped out. He sat there, watching her, and after a few seconds, it seemed like he was successful. He gingerly let the shard go and started to relax, when the girl looked up at him. His heart nearly imploded. Jeff's fist instantly shot back to plant a sucker punch in hopes of stunning her but she just...died again? He kept his arm up though, as he slowly backed away from her, crouched in case he had to dodge something. She was dead this time, right...?

He let the adrenaline settle a little and got his brain working again. First, he had to take care of the blood and the body. Oh god there was a body. Years of wanting revenge against vampires and now that he's killed one with his own hands, he felt...guilty? The one he had caught so long ago, he had just left them to burn in the sun, like he had Liz. It wasn't like he was the killer...Jeff stepped over Penny's legs and turned on the water in the sink to wash the blood off his arms and the gash in his hand. Maybe I should put her in holy water just in case... He certainly had enough water with the tub, but did he still have his rosary? Turning on the water, he let the tub fill up as he looked around the room for anything to dispose her with. He opened the drawer by the beds. A bible...

"Exorcizo te, creatura aquae. In nomine dei patris omnipotentis et in virtute spiritus sancti..." Jeff muttered and put the worn book at the bottom of the filled tub, wondering if this would suffice. He went back to the dead vampire, grabbed her under her arms, and started dragging her towards it.

Raphael let out a magnificent howl as Elli's fangs sank into and tore at his throat. His hot blood rushed out the open wound, in a bit of a panic he tried to push her off with one paw and placed the other next to the wound, trying to stem the blood flow. After a moment he grabbed her in a bear hug and attempted to stop her attack by crushing her instead.

Jack groggily shook his head, which only made it hurt worse, as pushed himself away from the tree trunk. His blurry vision seemed to focus on Elli getting a hug from the ferocious werewolf. What...the hell...? Jack struggled to a standing position and attempted to figure the situation out.

Holly stepped forward when he looked up and cupped his chin with her hand. His eyes seemed slightly unfocused and mildly dilated, he was certainly confused if not in shock. She could remove it, she knew how to manipulate people's memories, she knew a bit of everything after all, but she couldn't stand the thought of him forgetting her. She would have to use other resources to disappear, though she doubted he would come after her after the day they'd just had together anyway. Some people were worth it, but she was certain he wouldn't feel that way.

"It's alright," she repeated, as her eyes glowed slightly, "Just relax, Mike. Don't worry any more alright?" She induced a deep sleep spell over him. Unless he had some sort of strange ability as well, he would remain unconscious for quite a while. Long enough for her to take care of her "family" business and leave forever. She took the glass of water from his hands as she knocked him out in the most loving way possible, set it on the coffee table, and left the way she had come with only a brief glance back.

User ImageElli just wanted the blood. If she had it, she would survive, but what was going to kill her? She couldn't remember, not that or anything. Her only thought was how his blood tasted; warm, savory, sweet. She grabbed the side of his head to jerk it away for easier access to his neck and continued to drink, almost full...And suddenly she couldn't breathe again. Her spine felt like it was being pressed into her stomach and made her want to vomit all the blood back out. She growled and wrapped her fingers around his throat to stop him from breathing as well.

Penny sank deep into her own consciousness for a time. She saw her self reflected in a pane of black glass. Her darker side was trapped there, the side that wanted power. She stared at it, with its red eyes and burning hatred. She reached out to it, her hand stopped on the surface of the obsidian wall. Her other half did not stop, it reached through and grabbed her wrist, she was powerless to stop it, as she was yanked through the barrier and they traded places. She had time only for a quick gasp.

In the waking world, Jeff had dropped her prone form in the tub full of almost holy water. Her body sank to the bottom, congealing blood leaked from the wicked neck wound clouding the water, her green eyes snapped open under the water, and focused easily on the human's face. She...won... she mouthed under the water. Before her eyes flashed to pure crimson, then settled into a sickly shade of maroon. The same terrifying smile flashed across her face as she erupted from the water and grabbed at Jeff's throat.
~~~~~~
Holly left Mike unconscious in his own apartment and stepped out into the city streets. She didn't know how to live a normal life, but she knew how to find and eliminate a threat. She reached out with her power briefly, feeling and then filtering out all the hman life around her until she found the darkest source of energy in the city. Deep underground, likely in a chamber the astral manipulator had created for herself, she had only one option, and one way to reach it. Shadow magic. She found an unobtrusive alley way and stepped into the shadows. She sent her own energy out towards them, and wrapped them about herself with bright red tendrils of power. The young mage let herself sink into the ground and travel, incorporeally, to that very chamber.
Moly stood as ever, stoic and emotionless, her astral twining its smokey being about her arms and legs with its mask like face setting on her shoulder. The room was lined with slightly reflective obsidian, but it was a real place, not like the shadowy realm she had almost trapped Mike in before.
"You came. I thought you would keep running. With that man. It is good you came. It saves time. One must-"
"Always be efficient," Holly finished her younger sister's statement. Her father used to say that like it was going out of fashion. Moly tipped her head, as a puzzled cat might.
"They told me you were an Archer. Did you know Korbin Archer? That was something he said frequently."
"I thought I knew him. Once. But you're not here for information are you? You need me. Dead or alive I presume."
"My orders are simple. Eliminate."
"How odd. So are mine."
~~~~~~

Raphael instantly released the half vampire girl when her hands wrapped around his own throat. Apparently she didn't care if he was alive when she sucked his blood. He changed tactics and took a swipe at her face, his larger size allowing him to reach her and his huge claws ready to rip open that delicate face.

Jack wasn't sure whom to target anymore, he had never seen Elli react like this. Was it her vampire instinct trying to preserve her life? Or perhaps because he himself was in danger? He rather hoped it was because she wanted to protect him, though he knew that was a foolish thought at the moment. He did his best to regain his balance and close the distance, when he saw the blow coming at Elli's noggin.

"Watch out, pumpkin!!!!"
