"But you're wizards!" The Prime Minister cried desperately. "You can do magic! Surely you can sort out -- well -- anything!"

Just a (not so) simple Plot.

It is the sixth year of Hogwarts. Harry is obsessed with Malfoy, and Ron is now dating Lavendar Brown. Hermione is still friends with Harry, but he is always busy, and how could Ron just go and date Lavender like that, doesn't he see how she feels about him? Anyways, there is a new girl in the school that year. She is in Ravenclaw and seems very distant and mysterious, but also almost (or the same) as smart as Hermione. She is also dating another new boy that year, a pure blood Ravenclaw that has become Draco's best friend. Hermione becomes friends with this girl when they begin to study with eachother in the library. Turns out she isn't that mysterious, she just hasn't chosen to make friends quite yet. Her and Hermione become great friends and are now seen together a lot. Since the girl's boy friend is also friends with Draco the four are often seen together. Hermione learns that Draco isn't always mean, only when he is around people that are mean to him, for example, Harry and Ron, and pretty much all the houses except Slytherin. They start to like each other too, which pleases Hermione's new best friend, but Harry extremely dislikes and Ron hates from a distance. Then towards the end of the year the big fight breaks out when Dumbledoor is killed. Hermione will have to choose sides, with her new friends, or with her old friends that hate Voldemort as much as she does.

Friendship was something you could find in some of the most unexpected places. Just like when a person jumps out at you from behind a corner, friendship can surprise you in the same way. Some people were to oblivious to notice it, normally the ones who just took things for granted. They don't know that you are lucky to have friends. That's why Delia was very smart. She knew Hermione would be a great friend for her. She was just as smart, and she had heard that she could had an interesting sort of humor also. It didn't matter that she wasn't popular, it was mainly just her that was appealing friend sort of way.

Delia had been watching Hermione for the last day or two, no, she wasn't a stalker, she just liked to think things over before she acted. Why? So she wouldn't make as many mistakes. It had taken her about a week to say yes to Carlisle, even though she was sure she wanted to say yes when he asked her. It was the same way with Hermione. If Delia was nice to her and then decided she didn't like Hermione, then things could get complicated.

Finally filled with a good mood of making up her mind Delia got up from her empty table. She had been sitting there for an hour, but there was only one or two books on it today. She left them there, instead straightening her robes carefully and made sure she didn't have any hair in her face. She had long brown hair, the same as her grandmother's, though it wasn't the silvery blond color. Her grandmother had been a veela, yes, it's true. She took after her in the face, and her slenderness, but she was taller then your normal veela, and her eyes were a dark brown instead of a nice, light color. She was just as graceful and charming when she wanted to be, but was most certainly more smart then an average veela too.

The walk to where Hermione was considerably short, but she had already been thinking about what to say to her when she showed up. Before saying anything she sat in the seat across her, leaned forward putting her elbows on the desk, and rested her head on the palms of her hands. She offered a smile, revealing startling white teeth of course. "Hello, I don't know if you know me, but I am Delia, or at least that's what you should call me. I am new here, but by no needs need any help with home work. I guess I just wanted someone to talk to really, and you know, talking to your boy friend only gets you so far. So, what are you reading?" Delia didn't loose the smile as she spoke, and when she was finished she gestured at one of the many books on the table. She eyed a couple of them, they did look very interesting. Maybe she could borrow one someday.

Reading wasn't the only thing Delia enjoyed, but it was the main thing. Flirting can only get you so far, dancing was something she mainly did to please her grandmother and mother, and all the other things she did that filled up the day could change at any minute. But reading never changed, it was always an option for her. Of course fires were probably the mortal enemies of books, but Delia had even gone as so far to put spells on her personal books so that they were unflammable. That was probably the one other thing that she enjoyed as much as reading though- magic.

If you asked her magic was just plain wonderful. Delia thanked God, even though she rarely goes to church, for making her a witch. Even though she was a pure-blood and there had been little chance that she wouldn't have magic when she was little, she was always so scared that she wouldn't get it. When she finally got her magic she was literally soaring with happiness, she had accidently lifted herself in the air with such a strong spell no one knew how to stop it. She was in the air for about a day before they could get her down, and since then they had always known she was meant for good things.

Delia hadn't always been schooled at Hogwarts. She used to go to Beauxbatons, which was perfectly okay most of the time. It was mostly a fluffy school though, not much seriousness went on. After her fifth year her mother decided to send her to Hogwarts so she could learn more at Delia's request. Already she was much more pleased with the classes, Charms and Potions the best. Charms was what she was best at, and then probably transfiguration. Those came natural to her, though all the others were easy enough after some studying also. Potions pleased her the most though, because it was so much better then the class as Beauxbatons, just like the charms here was actually better too.

While she waited for Hermione to reply Delia began to think even more about different things, two other people coming to mind. Her first two friends here had been Carlisle and Draco. Draco just because he was friends with Carlisle, but once she started to hang out with him more she began to like him. He was more interesting then most people, and she could tell there was more to him then he was just letting them see. She hadn't really tried to figure out what though. While she was normally curious, or nosy as other people would call it, she had decided to give him some space. Most of the time when she was with the two though she spent it holding Carlisle's hand and leaning into him. He wasn't the touchy-feely sort but she had told him that if he wanted to be her boy friend he would have to deal with it. No complaints since.

Delia's thoughts drifted away from Carlisle and Draco at that point. She had already thought about them so much, she needed something new, and since the present was considerably new, she tuned back in to her surroundings. Some of Hermione's homework was on the table she guessed, though maybe someone else had left it, but she doubted that. From where she was sitting and what she could read the answers seemed to be right, and besides that there was extra information on there also. It reminded Delia of her homework assignments, which the teachers always marked 'great, but a bit much.' She even got yelled at for writing her answers in French instead of English once. She had protested that French was more more beautiful, but they didn't listen to her of course.

Delia drummed her fingers on the table, looking over her shoulder at a book shelf and then back again. In reality she had only said hello a couple seconds ago, but so much could go through her mind at once. Thinking could be such a tiresome thing really. But if you didn't think so much you probably wouldn't have been put in Ravenclaw. The new thought was true. When she arrived she had been taken to the Headmaster's room and the hat sorted her into Ravenclaw privately. It was much less stressful to not have hundreds of eyes watching her while it happened. The hat didn't think that much, she was obviously very sharp, but the hat had said, You think young one, so try to be wise. Don't let anything go to waste. She was sort of taking that as her motto, making sure everything in her life was worth it, and of course always thinking. That might not have been what the hat meant, but it worked for her.
