XXThis is what I call a small group role play with a weird title.

XXXXPlayers: Ladycuppiecakes, Crunchy_Bunnies and Loydem

XXXXXWhy hello there! Have you happen to know of the Kingdom of Iona? Well, that is where this story takes place. Or more along the lines of begins. This kingdom belongs to the land known as Fyria, a vast continent split among numerous other Kingdoms. Another kingdom founded within Fyria is that of the Saffron Kingdom. Both kingdoms have endured a long healthy relationship and have recently took action to improve relations, perhaps to even have the wish of gaining more territory in the future though that is besides the point, by arranging a marriage between the royal families. The King of Iona has offered his daughter's, Princess Delphinium Eve Hastings', hand to the beloved Prince of Saffron, Rowen. They, but mere acquaintances, have only met three separate times after becoming engaged to one another though both have taken a fancy to each other. The Prince has given a title for himself of courage through traversing the lands of Fyria fighting alongside his men in battle to claim honor for his Majesty's name. However, being a Prince, he has his charms that won the Princess' heart. He wasn't like typical men that tended to be brutish and uncaring. In fact, he is known to be quite the opposite and has been willing to show kindness and empathy to his beloved, which is admired by all. Like a perfect match Princess Delphinium is known for her kindness and big heart that wins not only the admiration of her betrothed and family, but also much of her people. With only a week left, there would have been a wedding of the century and the biggest celebration never before seen by the kingdoms. Sadly, unbeknownst to the Iona Princess, her Prince Charming was fiendishly stripped from her.

XXXXXNo longer would the Prince be what the Princess remembered for in the midst of the night was he transformed into a monstrosity. In everyone's mind, the selfish and malevolent intent was carried out by the desire of a witch. She posed as the entertainment before the Saffron court and manipulated the Princess into falling for her beauty to gain access to his quarters. Once protected within Rowen's bedchambers, the witch waited for the benevolent Prince to fall asleep then immediately succeeding with patience a curse was placed on him. Thus, his appearance began to change into a more fierce, large creature rarely seen by the eyes of the mortals. A dragon. Upon waking, the dancer was nowhere to be seen and the Prince was terrorized by a feeling within him to cause havoc. With the last of his true mind he fled in a caring reaction deep into the Dark Mountains in fear of hurting and scaring those that he loved. Along with leaving everyone behind, he left everyone dumbfounded and uncertain whether he were really turned into a dragon or if it were but a rumor. It wasn't long before word from the Saffron royal family reached Princess Delphinium about the Prince's current situation. Much to her dismay in the letter was the information that Rowen's parents weren't going to look for a cure, but to ensure the problem would be permanently dealt with by slaughtering him. Preparations had already begun to be taken with the formation of an army with the aid of Iona. Though, she would not have anything to do with this plot against her love. Since her father would not see her case, instead, she chose to take it upon herself to seek a cure and solve the problem in order to acquire the happy ending that she wanted.

XXXXXAgainst the orders of the King, Princess Delphinium escaped the confines of the castle determined to find her Prince and save him from the curse and death without the help of a knight in shining armor. Openly, she walked right out of the front gates straight to the stable as if she were merely going to take a pleasant ride, but before she could manage to even leave the stables her dispute with the stable boy was overheard by a long, loyal knight in the service of Iona. Not being able to overlook her choice and leave her unprotected, Sir Sairus Roger Augustine took chase after the Princess with a small band of soldiers with the sole purpose to return her to the safe walls of her room. He slowly caught up to her and found her outnumbered three to one against the barbaric intents of thieves and bandits. With the help of a wandering, informal watchmen, Lucine R. Iverach, the knight saved the Princess and they both soon found themselves abandoning their primary duties as Iona servants to aid her in the unauthorized quest.

XXXXXXMore information may be given shortly, thank you.

tab A week had passed since Delphinium had last seen her betrothed. She had only met him three times and during each time she found him to be utterly charming. Prince Rowen was everything she could hope for in a husband; kind, smart, and daring. He fought alongside his soldiers during times of war and like herself, was opposed to the use of magic within the kingdom's walls. Her kingdom, the land of Iona had been close allies with Rowen's kingdom, the land of Saffron. Their marriage had been decided since birth and now that she was of age, it was only a matter of time before she found herself walking down the aisle to be wed.

Of course, not all dreams came true. Nothing was ever perfect much to her dismay. A week before their marriage was scheduled a witch had stopped by the castle in Saffron. The woman had disguised herself as a dancer and charmed her way to prince Rowen. All it took was one night and the prince was no longer handsome. He was cursed to take the form of an ugly beast, one that would terrorize the castle. Her prince charming was nothing more than a greedy dragon now, but Delphinium refused to believe that he had destroyed villages upon finding out that he was cursed. He was a dragon and well, they were very different from humans. For all she knew he could have been adjusting to his new body.

Now she sat in her chambers; blue eyes scanning the letter that came in from Rowen's parents. They said he flew off into the Dark Mountains where no one would find him. They had sent soldiers after him but none of them had returned. Finding a way to break the curse was impossible so their next decision was to kill their son. Her hands shook as she read the letter, her heart beating faster with each word that was scanned from the page. No, she couldn't allow them to kill Rowen. He had done nothing wrong, none of this was his fault! This was that witches fault. Maybe she could convince the witch to break the curse?

That would mean sneaking out of the castle, and what then? What if the witch didn't want to break the curse, or worse, what if the witch decided to curse her? Her head spun as her thoughts crashed together but somehow the petite princess was able to pull herself together. Being the rather impulsive one out of her siblings she got up and began shoving clothes into a travel bag along with a coin purse. Her handmaid was busy with laundry and most of the guards were training. If she slipped out through the garden and into the stables it would be a straight shot from there.

All she had to do was outrun the guards. Before walking out she grabbed the dagger her brother had given to her for her birthday. She wasn't supposed to have weapons on her, but her brother figured it would be best and father didn't have to know about it. Tucking it away in her bag she exited her chambers and made her way through the garden. From there she scaled the wall and made to the stables. The stable boy frowned upon seeing her, an eyebrow slightly raised. "You're majesty? You shouldn't be out here--," Before he could finish she grabbed the reins of her stallion; Cherokee and mounted. "Oh hush and don't tell anyone you saw me here." Slamming her foot against the horse's side she rushed forward. Once she reached the streets she heard the bell ring in the tower; signalling for the guards to come after her.

This was what she expected, there was no way her father would let her go like this. No doubt she would be in big trouble should the guards actually catch her. Hopefully Cherokee would outrun any of the knights that got close. If it came down to it she would fight her way out, not that she was good at fighting. "Come on boy, head to the forest." She spurred him on, Cherokee panting as his hooves dug into the earth. The wind swept her hair back; the two looking like a blur of pink and cream as they ran past peasants on the streets. She had made it to the meadow and it was only a few more miles till she made it to the forest. Looking back she saw a few knights on their steeds growing closer. The adrenaline and fear set in but she urged her stallion forward.

ooc; I hope this post was okay! Let me know if I need to change anything.

XXXThe sound of bells were heard in the distance. The consistent melody slowly began to fade from behind, though, it had already been hard to hear over the loud, thundering gallop of the horses on which the knights were riding. The princess was merely a small, pink dot within the meadow, however, four knights were gaining on her. At the head of the group, with a considerable distance, was a distinct knight with bright red armor unlike the other three suited in silver armor. The four of them were on strict orders to simply bring the princess back to the castle without harming her, of course. They weren't exactly told to do so, but the bells implied it and the knights knew that the lady shouldn't be outside of the precinct. Just a short while ago, the leading knight had been in the stables attending to his steed. He'd shortly returned from a journey from what was a little town on the outskirts of the kingdom. The whole town had been reduced to rubble and ash. The work of, none other than, the former Prince of Saffron. But a week ago, the prince seemed to be completely fine and as if overnight he'd changed into a crazed monster. If the rumors were correct, it had been said that the Prince was accompanied by a dancer the night before and evidently placed a curse on him. Though, whether or not that was the truth was uncertain to most including the knight and it wasn't like it mattered all that much to him. His prime orders are to protect and serve the Kingdom of Iona at all costs.
___________________________________________

XXX"Your majesty? You shouldn't be out here--" "Oh hush and don't tell anyone you saw me here." The two voices could be heard a few stalls down from the stall in which contained the red armored knight and his steed. The man was quietly tending to his horse and was about to pull the, heavy armored saddle off of the animal, but the sound of the voices had stopped him. He knew the girl's voice well enough to place her identity and knew that the stable boy, he assumed, was correct in his statement. Without a second thought, the unbuckled saddle was straightened back up and re-buckled quickly. Before long the knight was being carried out of the stall and as he passed through the doorway, a right leg was swung over the horse in order to fully mount. He turned the large animal towards the boy and begun walking pass, but not without ordering in a pleasant tone, "If you would please alert his lordship for me, I would be thankful and be in your debt young sir." The knight trotted passed the boy as he nodded and began to follow, "Yes, Sir Augustine." Out in the courtyard, the knight known as Augustine began to bellow out orders to a few soldiers, "The three of you! I may need assistance in the retrieval of her highness, Princess Delpinium. Mount and follow!" The three, loitering men hurried past and mounted upon a few saddled horses then proceeded to follow the knight, who had already equipped his helmet and begun galloping through the castle gates.
___________________________________________

XXXThe four men were galloping through the streets and before long they were in the meadows with the princess barely in sight. The three lower ranking men had been attempting to catch up with the knight through the town, but if anything the distance between them was only growing. He knew all to well of what she was trying to accomplish. If she made it into the forest almost all hope would be lost in catching up, since, it'd be nearly impossible to maneuver the trees while at full pace. Then if they lost sight of her, she'd have a higher chance to succeed in losing them. With that in mind, Sir Augustine leaned forward slightly in order to quicken the pace and signaled the horse to increase the pace further. In a matter of moments the gap between him and the other three soldiers began to increase considerably. It wouldn't be long before he caught to the Princess, though, he could only hope that he'd be able to stop her before she reached the forest. The chase and journey with Princess Delpinium had begun.

tab Cherokee whipped his head up when the sound of hoof beats caught his hearing. Ears twitched back, steam coming from his nose as he dug his hooves deeper into the earth. Fear gripped Delphinium as the knights drew closer, but they were still a good distance away. If she could get into the forest than all would be well. All she had to do was get to the trees; dismount quickly and run as fast as her legs could carry her. With the blue dress on it would be hard, but the princess figured she could manage. That was why she had the dagger in the first place; to get rid of unwanted material.

Turning her head to look back, blue eyes caught sight of red armor flashing against the sunlight. One of the knights was getting dangerously close. "Just a little more Cherokee. Come on boy, you can do it." She nuzzled her face against the horse's mane; feeling his muscles work harder. A few more minutes of hard riding and she had made it into the forest. The two crashed through bushes and trees; Delphi pulling on the reins to slow her horse down. She dismounted quickly before patting his muzzle. The poor stallion was panting, his quivers shaking from all the effort put in. "You did wonderfully." Digging through her bag she pulled out a carrot and let Cherokee nibble on it before turning her back.

The horse nudged her arm and nipped at her hair, obviously not wanting her to go but she gently pushed his nose away. Pulling out her dagger she cut off a good portion of the silk blue dress so that it hung above her knees. Kicking off her shoes she sprinted, not really sure where she was heading. Her blue eyes peered upward in an attempt to see the mountains looming against the trees. If she headed in the direction of the mountains than eventually she would get there, at least, that was her thinking. Hopefully the knights wouldn't venture after her. The last thing she needed was someone dragging her home. The princess slowed when she heard a twig crack nearby.

She was panting at this point, her legs shaking from the unneeded exertion. Looking around she tried to figure out where the sound was coming from.

                                              snap.

There it was again, but this time it was louder. Blue eyes darted along the tree lines but still she didn't see anything. Backing up she reached from the dagger in her belt, gulping slightly. There were rumors that bandits and thieves hid in the woods, but she thought it was a tale the maids made up so that neither she or her brothers would go romping around in the forest. A bush rustled a few feet from her and three men stepped out. They were burly looking with greasy clothes on their back and daggers in their hands. Definitely bandits of sorts. "Well look at what we got here. The wee princess is far away from her castle now ain't she?" The tallest of the three grumbled out, his voice raspy. "D-Don't get any closer!" She held her dagger up in front of her; arms shaking slightly with fear. She had never fought someone before. Ladies weren't supposed to fight. Maybe she should have waited for one of the knights to get her, maybe she should have stayed in the castle.

XXXThe knights had been drawing ever so closer to the princess and it almost seemed as if they would have caught up with her. However, it had appeared that the stallion, that the young girl was riding, had caught wind of the followers. With a sudden bolt, the horse's pace increased and had begun to win some more distance. Up ahead, the forest was growing in size and it wasn't long before the lady reached the outskirts of the thicket. In a matter of seconds Delphinium, and the steed she was riding, was engulfed by the forest. The line of sight broken. As if enraged by this, the knight had begun to spur the horse in the sides repeatedly until the speed of the beast had almost doubled. It proved to be evident for he quickly began to pull away from the three men lingering behind. In just about a minutes time the knight reached the point where the princess had entered. Before he entered himself, he slowed his steed down and, as he came to a stop, the horse reared up. The horse back on all fours gave the knight the chance to yank on the reigns in order to calm the adrenaline in the horse down a bit. Peering into the dark, vastness of the forest, the knight drew a long sword from his left side and edged up to the forest in order to begin clearing what was left of the branches that hadn't been broken off by the princess. As he did so, the other knights had finally caught up to their leader. They bundled up close together in a single line to move quicker. They found the horse known as Cherokee just a few yards further. Instead of following the princess or turning back to return to the castle, the stallion had begun to relax and chow down on what little of the grass there was. He really didn't seem to mind the four men's presence. All he had done was pull up a decent amount of grass and turned his head to notice them then went right back to grazing.
___________________________________________

XXXSir Augustine stopped after coming across the horse and held up his hand to signal for the other men to stop. Once they had done so, the knight listened to the quiet sounding forest. With there being no noise and no princess in sight, he concluded that she kept going despite all of the rumors about bandits and thieves. Pulling the reigns to the right and circling a little the knight began to address the three men in a loud enough tone for them to hear, "Alright, I'll need one of you to double back to the castle and update his majesty on the current situation. You, at the back. Since you don't have any in your path go ahead." "Yes, sir!" With that the soldier nodded and turned around to carry out his duty. Then the knight began to call out a few more orders, "Second in line, I would like for you to stay here to ensure that the Princess' steed doesn't wander off. Then finally, you sir," The knight looked to the soldier right behind him, "You will accompany me further into the forest to retrieve Lady Delphinium. Now let us make haste!" With the orders said, the two men were off to retrieve the Princess. The further they went into the forest, the more it seemed to clear up. More than likely because none of the new tree saplings could acquire enough light source to grow and the already growing trees must also be stealing away the water to make the saplings grow. The two men had to travel slow even with the forest becoming clearer so as to not fall off or anything.
___________________________________________

XXXVoices. They had just left the one soldier behind to tend to Cherokee and within a short time they had begun to hear voices. The knight was unable to make out what was being said, but he could tell that one of the voices were too deep for the petite princess. The likelihood that a simple peasant was out taking a stroll in the forest was very slim. Besides, even if it were just a peasant, the man didn't like the idea of allowing the Princess to stand idly by defenseless. Without any hesitation, he had spurred the horse and took off charging straight for the commotion. The knight had put away the blade while they had been treading slowly on their path and now he pulled out a long, iron lance that was strapped to the side of his horse. He placed it on his shoulder in order to be ready to send it flying towards his first target. He broke off to the left the moment he entered the small clearing and, with a clear sight on the enemy, let loose the sharp headed lance at the one posing to be the leader. Too high. The lance went right over the bandits shoulder merely grazing him. Slowing to a walking pace and sort of beginning to circle the opening, the knight calls out in a deep, commanding and kind of threatening tone, "Halt! I, Sir Sairus Roger Augustine of Iona, command thee to back away from her ladyship, Princess Delphinium! If you do not, I will hereby disband you three." The man now identified as Sairus, pulled on the horses reigns and came to a compete stop before quickly dismounting and pulling out the long sword from his left side. It was very noticeable that he was attempting to be quick or else he would have equipped the rather enormous blade hung across his back. Also, if all eyes weren't on him, then everyone would have noticed the second soldier go the opposite path that Sairus had. The helm covered knight proceeded forward closer to the bandit with his blade up and ready for an attack. "So the Princess' precious knight in shining armor has arrived to save her? Well we'll send you useless knights packing to go home where you can continue to play knights and pretend to be protecting a princess!" The tall bandit leader, by the middle of the second sentence, had already begun a full fledged charge towards the knight. His first move was that of a lunge to the gut, however, the knight anticipated the move and stepped the right only to slash upward in order to cut in the man's arm. It wouldn't do enough damage to render him maimed, but merely to disarm him and cause him to kneel which was successful. Then without stopping, the knight had brought up his right knee and landed a firm blow to the bandits face, surely knocking him out at least for a few minutes. He ended his movement after standing next to the body and placing the tip of his blade at the bandits neck to ensure there would be no more sudden movement from him. All that was left were the two lackeys who were already being stared down by the man standing over the defeated bandit's body.

》》Out here in the forest everything was just great. Lucine couldn't help but to enjoy every second of freedom he got out here where it was peaceful, for the most part, and quiet, again, for the most part. To be fair though, he was technically still under the rule of the great Kingdom Iona regardless of his current occupation. It wasn't the most glorified one out there, but being a watcher meant keeping the woods safe for travelers and that was something not many were willing to do due to the bandit population. But hey, someone had to and some one had to give the orders.

Honestly he didn't mind any of that. The only time he had to deal with them was when ever he crossed their paths. Though, after a while he picked up their tricks causing him to run into them more often than he had wanted to. At least this way the folks who did know these back ways aside from the bandits would be safe as well.

Alas the job did have it's perks as well; an occasional reward, freedom, and last but not least, rumors. Out of all of the things Lucine could choose to enjoy the most, it was the rumors. Sure it didn't give him anything worthwhile, but as long as anyone was in 'his' forest there wouldn't be a thing he'd miss. One of his favorites of these, and most recent, would be the tale of the princess and her dragon dilemma. Of course, many did tell the tale differently but, it was enough to understand that her darling dear was now a monster of sorts.

While having occupied this forest some time now he had seen many strange things that some wouldn't even think to believe. Ah, but just when he believed to have seen and heard it all; here comes in this tale of a dragon. This world was filled with many strange sorts, but a dragon was a rare find. It would be but an honor to be in the presence of one, despite the high chance of being killed in the most agonizing way possible, the idea of it sounded just splendid.

For now all Lucine could to was kick back in the trees until the day would come where he'd get to say he had once come face to face with a dragon. It was then that he had heard voices somewhere down below him, not far at all so to speak. Scouting around, he saw what appeared to be the princess and what seemed to be a group of bandits. "What the...?" He muttered to himself, confused by what he was seeing. Was that really the Princess? Regardless of who it was he had a job to do.

By the time he had made his way over, through the treetops, a knight had already made an appearance. Clearly the man needed no help, but Lucine preferred to finish up what was left, after all it was still his job. There was just no way he was going to let the other two slip by so easily.

With that Lucine jumped down from the trees and landed behind the two reminding bandits. "Well it would appear that Sparky already has it covered but this just wont do, no, not at all...." Lucine shook his head observing the two bandits who had now redirected their attention to him. "Who the hell are you suppose to be?" One of the bandits yelled. Lucine ignored him as he took down his poleaxe. "Wanna know what we do to thieves?" He questioned the first who had already made his first move to attack. Having already guessed this Lucine sidestepped out of the way of the bandit and made his counter, disarming the man with the side of the pole before jamming the end into the man's side, speaking as he did so, "We cut off their hands and for liars....Well," Lucine paused, ducking as the other bandit attempted to slash at his face before ramming the end of the pole up into the other man's jaw. "....we cut out their tongues." He spoke once more bring the poleaxe around and swinging it down on the man's neck. Neither would be in condition to put up a proper fight. "Now of course for harming our ladyship would mean you'd both loose your heads, but none of this is a sight for a lady to see." Lucine smiled down at them both before redirecting his attention over to Princess Delphinium.
"Now might I ask what your highness is doing out here, more importantly in those rags." He questioned, not even bothering with the knight, his reasons were obvious.

tab Delphinium was prepared to either run for it or fight. She stepped back as the bandits moved closer; blue eyes darting around to see if she could find a clear path to run through. She was smaller so if she got a head start than maybe they wouldn't be able to catch up to her. Before the princess could actually do something, a horse came to a halt, moving between herself and the horses. The red armored knight had found her and Delphi wasn't sure if she should be happy or upset. Sarius, that was his name. Her father commanded so many knights that it was hard to put faces with names. The man quickly disarmed the leader of the bandits and while he was occupied Delphinium began planning her exit route.

With the knights present she doubted they would let her get very far but she could try. She moved behind Sarius, trying to be as quiet as possible. Her destination was a thicket of bushes not too far off. She could crawl through and keep running from there, but where would that lead her? The princess would worry about it later, for now she had to get away and find her prince. Another man had stepped out from the trees but she didn't recall seeing him around the castle. Delphinium may not have remembered names but she remembered faces and this man didn't look familiar. She stopped, eyes widening a bit when the other man spoke of cutting heads off. Surely that was too harsh a punishment!

Now she had regretted stopping because all eyes were on her. The fair haired princess froze in place, her right hand holding the dagger tighter. She chewed on her lower lip unsure of how to answer the strange woodsman. "I need to find Rowen and break that stupid curse and I can't do that stuck in the castle." She inched back, moving closer to the thick bushes she had been aiming for a few seconds ago. If she could keep talking, keep them preoccupied than maybe she could slip away before they could grab her. No doubt her father would have her head for this but she couldn't sit there while her fiance was in trouble.

Tucking the dagger back in her belt she held her hands up to show she wasn't going to try anything, at least, for now. "I'm not going back to the castle. Tell my father you didn't see me or you lost sight of me when I entered the forest." What if they didn't listen to her? She could always order them to head back but her words meant nothing against the king's. The woman inched back a bit more, her ankles rubbing against the leaves of the bushes. If they said no she would hightail it out of there, if they agreed than she would go on her merry way without causing a scene. Either way she didn't plan on staying in that spot for very long.

XXXSairus had continued to stand his ground before the remaining two bandits. Both of which didn't even seem to care all that much that their leader had fell to the knight's blade. He had no intention of making the first move, though. Through the years, he had come to realize that charging your opponent in combat is bad, since, typically the defender can easily counter the charge. That is, unless you properly charge and keep a good poise in order to re-counter the counter. As well as, having a surprise charge. It had been a few seconds already and the bandits showed no signs that they were going to make the first move. In fact, them not even saying anything or showing any signs of emotion of their comrades downfall was a bit unsettling to him. These kind of combatants were exactly what was wrong with the world to Sairus. They didn't care if their friends died. No. Not even friends. They viewed each other as merely pawns in a game or a shield for them to use. As long as they got what they wanted, the means of achieving it didn't matter to them. There was no room for any of these tactics and ideals in this world. The thought of this had slowly began to take a grip on the knight and he was becoming a bit enraged. Finally, he had begun to make the first move. He took a step closer, but it was very unnoticeable. Since, the moment he took the step he'd already begun to stop. Out of nowhere came a man from above right behind the two bandits. The landing was so graceful and agile that the man barely made a light thud. Evidently the landing was a bit louder sounding over beside the bandits, because without a moments notice they had spun around in surprise.

XXX"Well it would appear that Sparky already has it covered but this just won't do, no, not at all..." The knight had loosened up a bit at the words and his sword sort of fell closer to the downed bandits throat. By his movements it was pretty obvious that he was a bit confused and one could tell that under his helmet he was furrowing his brows at the newcomer. In a quiet mumble, Sairus questions, "Sparky?" It seemed they didn't like the idea of being sneaked up upon for right off the back they had begun their attack. However, just like his entrance, his counters were quick, strong and fluid like. Within just a few seconds time both bandits were on the ground not moving. Or well not moving in any threatening way. He shared the princess' concern that the punishment was a bit harsh, but being a knight he had to agree that that was the right punishment according to the laws. Though, like the acrobatic man he also agreed that that was no sight for a lady, especially her royal ladyship. Well with the threat neutralized, ordinary conversation took up. The princess responded to him stating her current affairs and her desires. By the actions the man had taken, he appeared to be part of the kingdom and his attire suggested that he was a common watchmen or woodsmen. In any case he was of no threat nor any importance. But, it would be against his allegiance to the crown to just allow someone he did not recognize to roam freely around the princess without his guard up. The knight kept his sword in hand firmly, but not towards him. "Thank you, sir, for your help. Your assistance is no longer needed. However, if you would like a reward for helping in the protection of her Majesty, Princess Delphinium, then you may accompany us and request it from his Lordship. My only demand is that you keep your distance from the princess until then," Sairus said in a cool, direct tone.
___________________________________________

XXXNow that the stranger's presence and business was noticed, Sairus took a few steps towards the princess. They were not quick steps, because he didn't want to scare her away and it was obvious that she was inching her way to an escape. So as to gain her trust and hopefully ensure that she wouldn't run from him, the knight knelt down on one knee before her. He laid his sword horizontally across his upper leg that was bent and bowed to her. "Are you well, not harmed in any way Princess? Forgive me, milady. For not being her sooner to protect you, as well as, the violence. Lastly, I cannot meet your requests. Please, do not run from me though. I will allow you to go..." Immediately, the knight is interrupted by the other soldier who had already dismounted and had been standing to the side watching the other man to see if he was going to try anything. Sairus stating that he was going to let her go sent the soldier into a panic, "Sir!?" To stop the solider, he quickly rose his arm and palm towards him. Then without any words towards his companion, he continued on, "It is against my service to go against the authority of the crown, whether it be His Majesty or the Princess. With that said, I can merely advise you to go back to the castle, however, you seem set on your journey." He pauses for a second, as if taking a breath or maybe to allow his words to sink in. But quickly he finishes, "I request that you allow me to accompany you along this journey. It is far too dangerous to travel alone, even for me. And it is far more dangerous to allow you to go see Prince Rowen alone in his current state and it is my duty to protect you milady." He remained knelt down and bowed awaiting her response. Though, it didn't matter. Both of them were going to be stubborn. The Princess would go her way with or without him and he would follow with or without her permission. The only curiousness in his mind was that of wondering what the stranger would do. Would he try something and actually be a bandit in disguise? Would he be dedicated to the King and attempt to stop him? Or would he just allow them to do as they pleased? If he did one of the first two, him being bowed put him at a disadvantage and the likelihood of him countering something was slim even with a low ranking solider there.

》》 So, the rumors where true. This as it was interested him as all together. Though, he should have figured by the way the dear Princess had dressed for the occasion, there was just no way that she hated her life to escape it in such a manor. Perhaps they wouldn't mind a tag along, despite the fact that he was just a stranger. "I have no intentions of doing that, you've shown that you made your choice." Lucine waved to her attire. It was clear that she made took her first opportunity the moment it had shown itself.

It was then that he redirected his attention back over to the knight. "The offer is nice and all Sparky, but no gold nor silver would be able to satisfy me. The only thing that ever could is the life out here." He smirked, already well aware that was the most cheesiest thing that could be said. The man didn't respond to the last bit, having found some humor that the knight though he would cause the princess harm. Well, not that he could fully blame him, but his alertness put him on a bit of an edge. There was nothing that could be done about it considering that the knight was dedicated to what he does for the fair maiden.

What happened next almost made Lucian laugh. How formal that it all was. The woodsmen had never been accustomed to that life nor would he ever, but when it came down to this, it was to much. But as usually in such cases, he held his tongue. "My lady, though I may not to as trusted as he, or formal for that matter, I ask to join you on your quest." He took a small step forward, having remembered what the knight had asked of him. "Lets face it, you cannot take the royal path to get to your destination without being spotted by other patrol members who might not be as kind to let you go without sending word to your father. You would have to take, well, the way you are going and who, other than I would know these woods best? I ask of just this. If you feel I am not to be trusted I do not mind having your knight keep an eye on me." He motioned to the other man. To be honest he didn't exactly like that idea, but if it put them both at ease with a stranger then it'll have to do.

tab Sarius took a slow step towards Delphinium and the princess' muscles tensed. She almost turned and ran out but stopped when the knight knelt down and placed his sword on his knee. He wouldn't attack her or drag her back, not while he was knelt like that. It would take too long to get up and would give her a head start. She shook her head, curls bouncing against her shoulder. "I am not harmed." At least for the moment she wasn't. Who knows though, if she continued down her path alone there was a chance she wouldn't make it back, or worse, wouldn't make it to her destination. The princess sucked in a breath as the knight claimed he could not go against the order of the king. Well, there wasn't much she could do about that. If he wished to bring her back to the castle he could always try.

Much to her surprise though, Sarius decided that he would go with her and protect her. Delphinium raised an eyebrow, blue eyes looking rather confused. He would be willing to disobey the king's orders? "Father will have your head for disobeying him. You won't be able to come back as an honored knight if I allow you to come with me." If he didn't come with her than who would teach her to fight and defend herself? It looked as though she had no other choice but to allow the knight to accompany her. Though the princss would like to believe that Rowen wouldn't hurt her, there was a chance that he could do so accidentally.

She knew it would be stupid of her to go on this journey alone. She knew it the moment she stepped out of the castle, but now she didn't have to be alone. The woman's attention moved from the knight to the stranger that had helped them for no apparent reason. The man did not want silver or gold which meant he wasn't a bandit. He merely wanted an escape from his boring life. It sounded rather cliche to her, but the princess wasn't one to judge. Many wanted to escape their droll lifestyle and if this man was a peasant she would understand why he would want to help. If he were to bring her back safely the king would shower him in riches, probably even give him a title of nobility.

Either way he would be rewarded while her knight would be punished. She crossed her arms over her chest, sighing softly. Fine, you may both accompany me, but you have to teach me how to fight. I don't want to be as useless as I was in this fight again." She didn't look happy about having two men traveling with her but what choice did she have? "What is your name stranger?" She questioned towards the strange woodsman. "I suppose we should leave now. No doubt my father's men will be searching for us. By all means lead the way." She motioned for the woodsman to take the lead, a small smile making its way on her face. Did she feel safe traveling with them? No, but for now it was her only choice.

[[ OOC: Both posts are great! Hope I haven't made you guys lose interest or anything. ^^ ]]

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

XXXNot once did the man ask if the Princess was okay. Of course, Sairus did already ask, but that wasn't all. There wasn't even a hint of caring for the Princess' well being in the stranger's tone. He didn't seem to care at all about her. If anything he simply wanted the thrill of adventure. It was a bit enraging to the knight, however, he did take his service seriously. But something did catch him off guard by what the stranger said, "The offer is nice and all Sparky, but no no gold nor silver would be able to satisfy me." At least he did have some form of pride, unlike most adventurers whom mostly took on quests for fame, glory and wealth. He remembered a time when he believed that was what his life was missing, but with time his mind changed. Perhaps this man wasn't such a bad guy after all. Though, Sairus wasn't just going to allow him to waltz about unattended. After all this whole circumstance orbited around the Princess. "I am not harmed." The girls words had brought the knight back to the present. He was relieved to hear that she was not harmed, but it was too close for comfort to him. He was appointed to protect the crown and if any of the royal family members were harmed on his watch, he would have failed his duty and wouldn't be able to live with himself. That's why, no matter her answer, he would follow and ensure her safety even if it did mean disobeying the king. Disobeying him would be better than Sairus attempting to force her to the go back and possibly harming her, as well as, allowing her to go on without him and risk being worse than merely harmed. "My honor and head are nothing compared to your safety, your highness."
___________________________________________

XXXA loud snicker came into hearing from that of the stranger no less. Was he mocking his actions? If he were a true man of the Kingdom of Iona, he would be doing the same. Although, it didn't matter. He soon would be told to return to duty by the Princess and they'd be able to move forward. But just like before the man's words surprised him. "My lady, though, I may not be as trusted as he, or formal for that matter, I ask to join you on your quest." At least he admitted to not being formal, which proved that he wasn't in the presence of the royal family often. However, he was polite enough to address Delphinium formally and that was good enough. But what surprised him most of all was that of his request to join their party. Even though he was a man of the kingdom, he was still not well known nor as trustworthy. With that said Sairus was mostly against the idea of him joining them. Even if he held strong points and protected the Princess from being harmed. He could still be an impostor merely pretending to be a good man. "Fine, you may both accompany me, but you have to teach me to fight." The whole declaration caught Sairus off guard. To the point that he broke his poise by suddenly jerking his head up at the Princess and questioned, "Princess?!" The man was remained knelt down before the royal, but seemed to have frozen and gone quiet. The reason why was pretty obvious, he was merely contemplating the current situation and goal. He already knew that it didn't matter. He was there to serve protect, and do almost anything that the Princess asked. He sighed while nodding to her and finally rose.
___________________________________________

XXX"It is not my desire to go against you, though, I do admit that I may not entirely agree with your wishes. However, unless I truly believe there might be a better decision, I will follow your command." With that said, he turned to his fellow soldier, whom had been standing idly by, and motioned him over. "So as to not risk you becoming notorious as we," Sairus paused as the man got next to him and then he continued as he began to half circle the soldier before continuing, "I need you to rest. Forgive me." Without a second notice, the knight brought up his left hand and quickly dealt a blow to the man from behind in the neck region. Everyone knew that below the helmet was a spot unprotected by armor. The neck has always been unable to be covered. His comrade, almost instantaneously, fell to his knees and then fell flat on his stomach in a lifeless manner. The blow wasn't lethal, but it would incapacitate the man for a good while. Sairus then continued to finish his circle around the man until he came to the left side, where he proceeded to unsheathe the soldier's sword. The man yanked and pulled for a few seconds having a bit of trouble with the man lying on top of the blade, but before long it gave away and slide out. Once the knight was up straight once more and found a spot next to the downed fellow, the last thing he had to do was toss the blade to the side in a weird motion. The motion was that of him holding the blade in a readied stance and then twisting his wrist backwards while releasing the blade. What he was doing would probably make no sense to some, but there was logic behind his seemingly funny acting. With a clang the sword hit the ground just a few inches from the owner's body. Carefully, the knight took a few steps away from the scene and then turned to judge his artwork. He admitted it was a bit rough, but it'd pass the inspection that Sairus betrayed the King by knocking out his companion who now looks to have put up a fight without much luck. Or at least he hoped it'd pass, because he couldn't bare the thought of having someone's life taken by his actions. However, that wasn't the time nor the subject to be concerned with. Sairus mounted and collected his lance that had served as a warning from a tree behind the woodsmen. It probably seemed as if he were taking his sweet time to his fellow party members, but in reality it didn't matter. The force the king would send wouldn't be all that large, though, it'd be larger than a three person group and slower, not to mention that first the reinforcements would have to arrive at the scene. Which if time was correct the one soldier would just about be returning to the castle to inform his majesty. So, they didn't have much time, but they did have some to spare. "Let us make haste." Those words signaled that he was ready and wasn't going to argue with Princess Delphinium's decision on having the watchmen join them.

》》 The woodsmen had to admit, he did not expect the princess to agree. To be fair she did not look all to delighted about the situation at all. Not that he could blame her, after all it did seem as if she intended to do this by herself. At this point he could say that she realized that was a mistake and would have to deal with them for a while. It was also no surprise that the knight would not be on agreement to this. If anything he felt that it might be rather amusing to mess with him. Well, not that he was complaining. about it. "Lucine Iverach." The man responded with a small bow. He felt he should at least give her that much. "Im sure you're well aware that any fighting out here will be very different from that of the castle. Thieves will do anything to get what they want." He sighed as he had watched the knight.

It confused him at first, but then he remembered should they be found before they wake up the scene would look questionable. The knight was only making it seem as if they had gotten into a fight of some sort. Or so it appeared. Regardless it was better than leaving them as the were. Lucine stood there for a moment before taking up a weapon that one of the bandits had and held it out to Delphinium. "This will serve you better than that dagger. That is unless you intend to pick your teeth with it." Not that a dagger was a bad idea, but for her, well, considering her request he could assume she had no idea how to fight. Unless she could be quicker with no hesitation it would probably be better for her to be able to get some distance from any other possible bandits. In that case a bow and arrow would be better, he could giver her his but that might take more practice than a sword or dagger. That is if she would even choose to take the bandit's weapon. Either way she was going to need something better sooner or later.

Now thinking about it there was a small town a few miles out they could stop by for whatever the needed. It would take a day at most. "Alright but first things first, you two needed better clothes suited for out here, or at least something to blend in a bit more." With a small pause Lucine turned to actually look at the knight. "Red armor like that will definitely draw attention, if you insist you need one i'm sure the black smith has something for you. Unless you can come up with a really convincing story to why you have it, regardless some people are gonna want it out here." He finished before turning to lead the way.

tab Though he probably did not mean it, the princess felt as though Sairus was speaking down to her. It is not my desire to go against you, though, I do admit that I may not entirely agree with your wishes. However, unless I truly believe there might be a better decision, I will follow your command." The words went one ear and out the other. Her eyebrows knitted together and a stubborn pout made its way on her face. Unless he truly believe there might be a better decision, the nerve! The light haired princess thought to herself. Maybe going on this adventure with a knight and some peasant wasn't a smart idea after all. "You would do well to follow my command whether or not there is a better option." She replied curtly. Honestly she didn't need some knight babysitting her.

Her attention moved from the knight to the stranger who introduced himself as Lucine Iverach. Of course she was well aware that the fights would be different than those in the castle. The knights fought with honor and most of the time tried not to cause much harm to their opponent. This time would be different. Bandits and thieves wanted money and wealth. They would soil their hands with blood if it meant getting riches. That was the least of her worries though. Her mind was preoccupied with Rowen. What was he doing now? Was he by himself? Was he in a cold cave, was he hungry? The princess couldn't begin to imagine the horrors her fiance was facing.

Blue eyes watched as Sairus went about knocking out the other knight that should have been helping them. He positioned the sword and the body in a way that looked as though he attempted to stop them. Doing this meant there was no turning back. Regardless of the situation, Sairus was now a traitor to the king and her father would not rest till he had his head. Just thinking about it made her cringe slightly. Her father was a just ruler, but there were times when his anger got the better of him. Lucine had stepped up to her at this point, handing her a weapon that one of the bandits owned.

Hesitantly the princess took it from his hands, testing the weight of it in her otherwise delicate hands. "Have you ever spoken with royalty before?" She didn't like being talked to like a peasant. To some she came off as bratty, but the princess didn't mind. That was simply how she was raised. Delphinium sighed before holding the weapon close. It would serve her better than the dagger, or so she hoped. Sairus had finished positioning the knights which meant it was time to leave. Once her father found out that a knight was helping her he would send her brother to fetch her, and with his skills it wouldn't be long before he found them.

Lucine suggested that they should get new clothes. Delphinium looked down at her torn dress, not quite sure what was wrong with hers. "Won't this do? Its torn and dirty enough." But the bright blue silks and cotton white still showed itself beneath the dirt and mud. Her soft hands, bright hair, and petite frame was enough to give away that she wasn't a peasant, so why even bother with new clothes? She had to agree with him on the red armor though. Sairus would stand out in it. "I suppose we don't have much of a choice, aye Sairus?" Lucine began to lead the way but Delphinium stopped for a second. The trek to the nearest village would be long and tiring, and they needed to save their energy for later. "Wait, Sairus, do you still have the horses? Why don't we ride them to the nearest town instead of walking? It would be faster and less stress on us." She suggested, shrugging slightly.

ooc; I completely forgot if we added horses or not.

XXX"You would do well to follow my command whether or not there is a better option." Sairus was a bit dumbfounded to hear her say something so abruptly. The knight looked down at her and his eyes met a sort of glare. She was frowning. Or maybe pouting? He couldn't tell, but it was obvious that he had unintentionally upset her. She was the Princess after all and was the one in full command while Sairus was merely a subordinate and an adviser at the most. He knew he was under her authority, but she was still young and inexperienced in the ways of battle and war. "Of course milady. Please, forgive me." The knight responded to her quick and to the point. So as to not anger her any further. He couldn't risk her losing her temper and running off. Instead, he would agree for now, however, he was possibly still the one with the most experience in battle and with that he would ensure that she didn't make any strategical mistakes. Perhaps he could advise her like the advisers did the King. Not telling her what to do, but more along the lines of suggesting the best options. If it came down to her not listening then he'd see to it that he was protecting her. That's all that mattered to him, her safety. After dealing with Sairus, Princess Delphinium turned her attention to the stranger who had introduced himself as Lucine Iverach while the armored man had set the scene for the company to come. Lucine had brought up some pretty valid points while Sairus was busy placing the bodies and the weapons. He knew where the argument was going, even if he wasn't fond of the thought of it. Bandits are mainly out for blood and while thieves typically don't like to get caught up in a fight they still wouldn't care if they got some blood on their hands. With that said, the noblemen was going to have to put aside his dislike of lethal attacks and do it anyway to ensure the safety of the Princess.

XXXOnce again the woodsmen struck below the royal's and knight's standards. Between Lucine's informal speech patterns and Sairus' tendency to be overprotective and a bit controlling, it wouldn't surprise him if the Princess didn't attempt to get away from them. In fact, it'd actually surprise him more than anything if she was able to put up with them both and stick to the party idea. At the rate they were going it wasn't looking good. Just about like the look of the blade that was given to the Princess. At first the blade would look as if it were in pretty mend condition, but if Sairus' guess would be right, then it would hold up for another few battles. But, it'd be best to hurry and give her something better. None of the bandit's weapons were great for combat. Mostly because no one gave outlaws weapons in great condition. Instead, they had to find their own weapons and most of them were found in old dungeons, ruins, and tombs. The blades, along with the sites, were old, feeble and some were rusted. The blade looked like it could hold together for awhile, but Sairus intended to replace that blade as soon as possible. Thinking about it, he was sure that he held hid old rapier on his person somewhere. More than likely at the bottom of one of his over packed saddlebags. He couldn't even remember the last time he had practiced his fencing skills. He knew it'd been awhile because he'd just gotten back from a long adventure for the King like usual. He'd simply have to dig it out of one of the deep bags, however, now wasn't the time. It'd probably take him hours to unpack things and then repack them. For now, he'd allow her to use the blade and maybe a learn a thing or two, but, once they got some distance from the other knight's, he'd give her the rapier and teach her a thing or two. If she wanted it that is, because it was a real hassle to grasp the ways of fencing and even he wanted to give up on it after he'd just started. Then again, she was royal, fencing was usually in their blood.

XXX"Alright, but first things first, you two need better clothes suited for out here, or at least something to blend in a bit more." Atop his noble steed, Sairus' eyes became a slit and he peered down upon the man. He had already guessed and felt what the man was going to say. His armor. "Red armor like that will definitely draw attention. If you insist you need one I'm sure a blacksmith has something for you. Unless you can come up with a really convincing story to why you have it, regardless some people are gonna want it out here." Much like he had done to the Princess, Lucine had struck a nerve in Sairus. The very thought of someone demanding him take off his armor and do away with it got under his skin. The whole thought was preposterous to him. "A knight removing his armor? That is like asking a religious cleric to take off her robes and become a courtesan! We'd both be naked and be going against our religion." The knight was about to speak up, but before he could Princess Delphinium took the initiative. Though she had a point, it was still very classy looking that and it was so dirty and torn that no princess should be walking around in those. Not to mention that sometimes in the night the cool air could get a bit nippy and with her having a lot more skin than usual showing, she could catch a cold or infection. So, if anything she was by far the most important one to be cared for first. "I suppose we don't have much of a choice, aye Sairus?" The male looked down at his Princess and the glare immediately melted away before being replaced by a straight, calm face which was still hidden beneath his helm. The carefree tone and gentleness in her voice made him regain his composure and look at the situation rationally. It was his duty to protect the Princess. By wearing his personal armor that in itself would provoke people, cause attention and possibly put her at risk. As much as he hated to admit it, Lucine had the checkmate and he knew that it needed to be done even if he had the best tall tale. Sairus may be a formidable opponent in combat, but they wouldn't care nor need to fight. They could just hold the Princess hostage and all would be lost. The paladin sighed and nodded to them both silently defeated.

XXXThey were off! Lucine taking the lead to show them the way to the nearest town. Sairus up on his horse was following and was going to say something, but then Princess Delphinium came to a halt. By the time she had turned to face him, the knight was right next to her. "Wait, Sairus, do you still have the horses? Why don't we ride them to the nearest town instead of walking? It would be faster and less stress on us." The nobleman shook his head ever so slightly and then looked down at the horse he was on as if confused. He extended his hand down to the Princess and replied quietly, and in a sweet tone, "It was never my intention to allow a Princess to walk." He wouldn't mind if she rode with him, if anything he'd feel safer, but if she didn't trust him enough and would rather ride the other horse he wouldn't refuse that either. Though, he definitely would not allow her to ride with Lucine, a stranger, even if he wasn't fond of the idea of sharing his horse with the man. There was only one other horse among them. Cherokee was accompanied by another soldier on a horse in the outskirts of the forest. If they went back, they'd lose time and decrease the distance between them and their current chasers. Not to mention that Sairus would also have to deal with another soldier in the same manner as he had just done with the one that followed him, but that would be no good since there would be no reason to go back just for a horse. It would probably be in their best interest just to go with two horses and share one for the time being. Though, he was under the Princess' command so if it was that important he would certainly double back and do as she said. The whole thing was up to her as he held out the offer of his hand.

》》 Lucine laughed at the princess' question. Really now? Did it really need an answer. "Even if there were enough royals to go around for every person to talk to, do you really thing that it would be a common thing? Honestly, I might as well have seen a unicorn before meeting a royal." He managed after regaining his composure. Formalities or fancy talk were not much of his game regardless, he felt it was better to just talk as he normally would rather than trouble himself with pleasing someone who looked down on him. "Besides, you may as well forget hearing anyone speak to you as one from here on out. If you don't want your father to know you're out here you're going to have to deal with people talking to you as if you're not worth much at all, better yet your going to have to be able talk like one.So you might as start with me, for I am not here to please you and kiss your feet if you wanted that perhaps you should go home.Otherwise, Get use to it, princess."So it was a bit much, but Lucine couldn't stand anyone who believed their title equaled their value as a person. Anyone with a title could walk around and depend the respect the felt the deserved, but respect was not just given, it was earned. Had he been in the castle talking to Delphinium he might have tried, but out here, it meant nothing to him.

By the way things where going now, one could already see this was going to be one long journey ahead of them. It was curios thought to see how long they would be able to stand each other before they parted ways. Regardless Lucine could see this would be a very interesting, yet problematic, time spent. Honestly he would be able to put up with it having lived with it, but the better question would be if the princess and the knight be able to take it.

"That depends, Delphinium," Lucine paused slightly, as if to make sure it would strike more of a nerve, "will you be comfortable running around in rags, or something decent enough to get you by for travel?" He asked walking on, before moving his attention back over to the knight, who didn't seem to be warming up to this situation either. "Yeah well that isn't going to get you very far, Sparky. You can have armor, just not something so bright." He turned to look back at them only to notice the other two had stopped to talk of horses. If that was the case he'd climb up on the trees and travel that way. With his skill climbing trees he imagined he would be able to keep up having to chase down bandits before.

Seeing that they would travel on horse, Lucine waited to see if the princess would join the knight on the horse. Even if she did he wold climb up on the trees. Horses weren't exactly his favorite animal out there...even if trained. With that he moved over to a tree and waited to see what the princess choose to do.
