Two being born of species you didn't know existed...two beings that in public's eye shouldn't exist but do, meet each other, at first the relationship between the two is distant they can't even be called friends...but a common enemy arises, one alone neither can beat...They have to rely on each other, they must know they can trust each other because to fight this man, together they must go into a battle neither might return from...they must go into the Abyss....

Spring. A tranquil time of year, when Winter's hold finally breaks and the snow covered landscape gives way to the multitude of colors, from the lush green meadows with wildflowers of all hues, to the evergreen forest with its wild life and blossoming trees of blooms and fruit. Forest and villages alike, came alive as animals and people began to come out after hiding from the bitter cold, farmers could finally move their flocks to grazing pastures and ready their fields for new harvest. Trades and markets were reestablished, allowing villages and its people to prosper again after enduring the months where famine and illness were always a threat. However, humans weren't the only ones that were becoming active, demons were waking from their hibernation as well. While stereotype says all demons are bad, this isn't entirely true, in fact if one cared to look villages existed here and there, where both humans and demons lived and thrived together. For the villages that didn't, Slayers took up their training once again to defend from what they believed to be monsters. Such was the way of things and had been for as long as one could remember. Unfortunately, it wasn't all that simple........

In a distant mountain range, away from any villages, a storm raged, lightning from ominous dark clouds ravaged the high peaks. Any who came near did not stay long, powerful vibes emanated from the area, a clear warning that it wasn't a normal storm above those mountains. Though one bird demon did dare this danger and had quite a story to tell after he flew away to report back to his leader. Two creatures clashed like Titans on the mountains tops, one looked an all white creature, which could be seen firing off multiple different element attacks. The other, and all black creature seemed to be using darkness itself, this was a minion of an even darker being, for this was a Shadow Mage, a servant of a Shade, who seemed to be winning.... but in a last ditch effort the white creature volleyed off fireballs at the surrounding peaks and brought the mountains down on the fight...

As the mountains fell a blaze of black fire suddenly dashed away from the scene, stopping to reveal what would seem an odd pair. A white stallion, with a dancing mane and tail of ebony flames and hooves to match, tacked in what looked a black saddle and bridle, stood with his rider astride. A black dressed female human with long blonde hair that whipped in the wind, while sharp blue eyes watched the mountains collapse, looking like she had just been on the worst end of a bad fight. Clothes torn in places revealed several small wounds, sporting a bleeding and possibly broken left arm, she refused to leave until she was sure that Mage hadn't gotten away.

"The Spirit Demon of the Monastery"

There was a nice silence in his field...his field? Well the field he and Lyrica decided to lay their head...there was a building, an abandoned monastery...The monks were killed viciously by a demon...their souls were tortured...sour, but other than the occasional innocent peaceful soul they were all he had to eat....He was usually plagued by people who believed in the legend of The Spirit Demon of the Monastery. But today, though there was an ominous cloud over the plains, there was an overwhelming peace. A peace that if he was capable of true human emotion would have pleased him thoroughly. The sprite flew around him looking at the sky and looked at her... "Keeper? Keeper?! Keeper you should take off that blasted mask! I can't tell if you're awake..." She complained sitting on his shoulder..Lyrica hated his mask though she knew he had to disguise himself but his silence and stillness made it hard to see if he was awake or sleep... "I'm awake Lyrica...what is it?" he said turning his head towards her...He was just in silent meditation he liked the quiet...Lyrica pointed up towards the sky, the grey made her nervous, it was no rain she had seen in all her 1000s of years of living... "Look...those clouds..that no storm clouds, and they're emitting from that mountain over there..." she said pointing to the point that seemed to be the center of this storm...Keeper, the name the man took on because he had no memory of his true name, finally looked up and saw the sky. He had noticed it before but didn't think anything was it... "As far as I'm concerned that's just something keeping the plain peaceful today..." he stood up and sighed a bit, he knew what she was getting at. She'd want him to go see what was going on...He started walking towards the mountain with not much urgency...he really didn't want to leave his home, especially to see about something he had nothing to do with...He whispered a call as he walked, calling up dead spirits hoping maybe to get a soul other than the sour souls of the murdered monks...He would need some energy in case he got there and needed to fight...Lyrica was nervous...she felt an evil presence as they neared the mountain...her body was weakening...she was beginning to lose energy, something very powerful and very evil was ahead...She flew into Keepers cloak... "Keeper...be careful...there's something strong and evil force up there..." Keeper could sense it but it didn't effect him like it did her, he was made up of demonic souls...

Ebion, the name the rider had given her steed, having saved him when he was a foal and having a black coat at the time, she had named him, though as he grew his black coat shed to the white one he had now. Despite the fact that she had offered to change it, he wouldn't hear of it, he would keep the first name given to him by the one that saved him. The stallion was growing restless now as he stood there, fully aware of the injuries the female suffered Mistress, we really should be going, he hasn't surfaced and if we are caught out here now, you won't be able to fight again he was clearly worried. Uni knew he was right, her arm was paining something dreadful, and she didn't have enough energy to transform back and be able to heal herself, to try would be foolish. Finally she turned the stallion away from the mountains, in a direction she knew a village was, and could only hope she could get help.

The pair hadn't made it to far, Ebion was keeping at only a canter without his true speed, afraid that the run from the mountains had hurt his rider more and a gallop again only make things worse. When suddenly the stallion felt something and stopped, ears flicking, and nostrils flaring, his rider didn't need to ask before he answer, as if already knowing what she would say I haven't felt this in a while, we shouldn't go this way he barely got the words out before he saw the cloaked being top the rise in front of them. Ebion brayed, half rearing in warning, he may not know what that was on that hill but he didn't like the feel of it, and he wouldn't let it near his rider. Uni tightened her legs on her stallion's sides and took hold of the reins with her right hand to keep from falling out of the saddle.

Going back wasn't an idea Ebion thought an option, they were still to close to those mountains, and he already ruled out running. Spring had already started out bad enough for his rider: Being chased by villagers after they found out what she was and she had saved them from a demon too, demons had attacked them, she just fought a Shadow Mage and now was injured. Coming across this guy now had to be a bad omen, that was certainly Ebion's thoughts at the moment.

"The Spirit Demon of the Monastery"

Keeper walked almost at a stalking pace, the cloak he wore with the back clothes and the dark or the forest made it seem like he was floating rather than walking...As he moved spirits appeared and he consumed them...evil beings lived in this area, either currently or in the past, because most souls he consumed were tortured, tormented, lost souls, sour to him...and with them came memories if the day they were slaughtered, some betrayed by lovers, some killed by royal tyrants, each with so much more to offer before their death...He could feel their pain, but still did not comprehend it. He didn't understand why they were sad, he had no understanding of what pain was...of what sadness was. If not for Lyrica he would have never knew the word...Years ago when he was just a child he was consuming the soul of a little girl fed to a demon by her father...he asked Lyrica...what was the feeling he got from the soul...She explained best she could about sadness, happiness, and other emotions humans felt and why they felt them...he would never truly understand them, even now all these years later, he'd seen many deaths, betrayals he should have understood but it wasn't in him to know the feelings of humans.

He thought he saw something up ahead...he wondered if he should prepare for battle or not...was this the threat, or just no one....he grabbed the sprite out if his cloak gently... "Can you still fly Lyrica?" he asked. She lifted up a bit and started flying...she could barely do it but she could...her powers were weak, really weak, but usable... "Yes...why?" Keeper pointed ahead.... "I need to you go check what's ahead...try and stay hidden..." she didn't want to but he needed her and she understood. She started flying and flew ahead...she saw a stallion and a girl riding it...the girl was hurt, hurt bad. She looked and turned around and flew back to him... "There's some ahead that looks hurt, they're on a horse coming this way looks like..." Keeper nodded and turned around, in his mind they had found out what they needed to know and could leave... "Where are you going? Didn't you hear me..?" Keeper nodded... "Yes I did...now you know who caused this grey sky...and she's hurt not dead so I can't consume her soul...as far as I'm concerned there's nothing else we need here..." the sprite flew in front if him and looked at him with a look that told him to turn back and help the hurt person...He turned back around and sighed...He started back towards the person...

Uni was trying to keep from blacking out, Ebion was keeping his eye on the one on the hill, so neither noticed the little creature fluttering overhead looking at them. The stallion did notice when that creature turned and disappeared, moving away from them, and knew it was his chance to think of something quick. Flexing wings, he weighed his options, flying would have the same risks as a full out gallop, only if she fell from the sky catching her would be hard if she was unconscious. Unfortunately he had no clue where that cloaked, masked being was going, going around would mean going to far out of the way. Perhaps he could fly long enough to get ahead then run on, but before he could make a decision, and since his gaze was still on that hill, he saw said creature coming back over the hill. If that wasn't bad enough, it looked like whoever or whatever it was, was approaching this time. What made it change it's mind?

Ebion brayed again, the sound jarring Uni from her half out state to see what was going on, again tightening her slackened hold. The warning behind her stallions cry didn't seem to reach the target and he was becoming increasingly agitated, so it resulted in him using another method Stop where you stand you who reeks of death! Ebion shouted, front hoof pawing and stomping the ground Move aside! I'll allow no demon near my rider! Fire horses were rarely seen, though weren't rare creatures, it was rare for one to take a rider, but when one did the steed was loyal to a fault. In fact it was said that even a spell or curse couldn't turn these creatures against their Masters and Ebion's warning wasn't without merit. Fire horses were elemental creatures, so Ebion was no demon.

The Sprite may have had good intentions at heart, but she really should have known better then to make Keeper come back like that, even Lyrica would now be hard pressed to convince the angry stallion. Ebion was slipping closer and closer to a rage each time he felt his rider catch herself from falling out of the saddle, his Mistress just couldn't seem to catch a break for nothing.

"The Spirit Demon of the Monastery"

Keeper stopped hearing the warning from someone..."Rider?....It seems like they don't want my help..." Keeper said rather flatly...Lyrica felt sorry for the two...perhaps they were just spooked by whatever hurt the girl...and keeper wasn't exactly the warmest and most inviting looking man... "Ah...poor things...we probably scared them...You...You probably scared them...The girl just got hurt...He probably just wants to protect her...The horse probably won't let us help unless we convince them..." Keeper thought he understood the situation and nodded slowly. He conjured up some souls he had consumed and made a spirit scythe...he sighed and prepared to fight...Lyrica few in front of him... "What are you doing?!" she asked pointing at the weapon he just conjured....He looked at her a bit confused...He stuck the weapon in the ground and tilted his head wondering why Lyrica was so angry. He thought if there was a conflict between two parties it was settled in a fight... "I was preparing to fight the horse so we can help the girl...isn't that what 'convincing' them is?" he asked.

If she were a human, or a lesser soul Lyrica would have far become annoyed with Keepers inability to understand how things with humans worked. His mindset was everything could be solved through battle, fight, death, or complete uninvolvment but things were slightly more complicated sometimes. She shook her head and sighed... "just because we're having a disagreement with them doesn't mean we have to fight to solve it....Look he can sense your demonic pressure, I'm pure so I'll go speak with him...just stay here.." she started to fly back to the girl and horse and turned back to him... "And put the weapon away, it'll make things worse..." she felw back to the duo and landed on a nearby tree branch...She looked at the two then back at Keeper who was just standing there...from this far he looked a bit creepy, especially since he wasn't moving...she sighed and moved a bit closer... "Excuse me...Horse....?" she had never spoken to a horse before so she was unsure how to go about this...

Ebion hadn't been expecting the guy to listen, but seeing him actually stop had the stallion thinking, one why and two how he would get out of this. Considering there was still some distance between them Ebion didn't see the sprite, then again his main focus was making sure that guy stayed where he was. Unfortunately, Lyrica was right about one thing, Keeper bringing out the Scythe did make things worse.... a lot worse. When Lyrica came in front of Ebion the horse shook his head You're arrival comes at a bad time Sprite, you need not get involved, move aside before he decides to come after you too meaning they had no clue Lyrica was with the threat. Uni slipped from the stallion's back, awake and aware now with the threat of a fight, Ebion reared with a battle cry, while beside him his rider did the one thing she really didn't need to do right now, transformed....

The white clad Demonheart that stood where the black clad human just did was looking worse for wear and roared after the transformation was complete, because it had only made the wounds worse. However, she knew she had no chance in any fight with a demon in her human form, but her left arm hung limp and looking pretty useless, but despite that anger had her on alert, being forced to reveal what she was in order to defend herself, she refused to let Ebion fight alone. An angry fire stallion and an angry injured Demonheart, Keeper had just stirred a hornets nest with his line of thinking and he was about to get exactly what he asked for. These two were looking to fight and weren't looking to back down, they had had to fight every demon they came across so far and this guy showed to be no different.

I have no intention on dying today soul stealer so sorry to say lunch has been canceled!!! Ebion had seen how the scythe was summoned and now knew why he didn't like the feel of the guy, through mental link the two shared through their bond he had warned his rider of this. Weak though the Demonheart was, her voice still held strong, though they may not know exactly what he was, they got the gist of what Keeper was capable of from fighting similar demons before who had tried to make meals out of them.

Keeper looked at them confused and looked at the scythe...Should he fight now? He would get a soul out of them...but Lyrica said not to fight so he would have to refrain from fighting...He just stood there looking at them....If they wanted to fight it would be a one sided beat down. He wouldn't fight because Lyrica told him not to and his obedience overrode his better judgement...He just stood watching the events unfold before him...

Lyrica flew in front of them... "Hey hey...no wait we're here to help you!" she said trying to get the peoples attention she was trying to help them but she felt that she had made it worse by trying to help...She circled them and looked at Keeper...she hated his obedience sometimes..She had to stop them because he knew he wouldn't fight... "Please...listen to me..he's not going to hurt you.."

When the Sprite spoke again, the two looked at each other for a moment, a silent understanding passing between them before two angry glares full of suspicion turned towards the little creature Then begone Sprite, I've heard tales of his lot, they help no one but themselves by devouring souls with no remorse for the innocents that will never find rest. If you're with him you care not about such things either other then finding him souls to feed on and I'm sure we look tempting enough right now. We have to many enemies as it is and can trust no one, we have no reason to believe your words about him, not when he drew his weapon first and still stands there with it Ebion's gaze was suddenly drawn to his rider when she shook herself to stay awake, the transformation had done more of a number on her then she thought it would. She normally healed faster in this form, but she was to weak and powers to low, the wounds were doing just the opposite of what they should have been.

Ebion had had enough, his rider wasn't going to be able to stay conscious much longer and now there was no way she could change forms again, many going to a village was a bad idea. He didn't know where to go or who they could ask for help now, but he certainly wasn't asking this Sprite and her soul snatching partner, even out of desperation. Turning to the side he nudged his rider till she was back in the saddle and looked back at the Sprite Either of you follow I'll see your partner burn wings flared, flapped, and he took off. After all the trouble they had been through that day, the stallion was clearly to worried about his rider and beyond reason. He wanted to take no chances with anyone especially not someone who had just posed a dangerous threat, but he still had a dilemma, where could he take his rider now?

Keeper watched as the two left and tilted his head...even though the girl was injured they would refuse help....he thought people asked for help when they were hurt...He had saw her transformation, which told him she was not human and no normal kind of demon...where could they go for help...in her condition she could be attacked and killed by anyone...He looked at the scythe and dispersed it...he used the soul and sent it to the girl...it would shield her at least until she healed...though he wasn't really helping her he felt like he did what Lyrica told him...he helped her in a small way...and gave up a soul to do so...he felt foolish to do so for someone who didn't trust his enough to allow him to help her but it was right...whatever right was in the terms of humans...it was something he was supposed to, or was expected to do with no expectations of reward....Lyrica flew back...she was upset she hated seeing such a suffering being and she couldn't help...she flew into his cloak and sighed... "We can't help everyone I guess..." she said in a dejected tone...Keeper looked down at her...he would have told her of his deed, but he felt that would mean he was expecting praise. He simply nodded and started back towards the monastery...He had just wanted to be home and enjoy the peace until the hunters started coming again...

Ebion, indeed was in a bind, his rider had finally blacked out and he was having to be careful so she didn't fall, the feeling of being followed or spied on wasn't help his nerves any either, but he couldn't see the soul following them. If he didn't find some place soon the scent of blood would undoubtedly attracted unwanted attention, not to mention a possible minion of the Shade, which that guy back at the hill could have been. He didn't understand that Sprite, why would a pure creature be with some being like that, then expect them to believe he was there to help? It could have just as easily been a trap for all they knew. His search was becoming hopeless when a sphere came out of nowhere and seemed to attack something, for sparks flew followed by whatever it hit disappearing like smoke. It was a soul, though how Ebion could see it he didn't know, but after getting rid of whatever was follow them the sphere seemed to beckon for the stallion to follow, and since he felt no malice or ill intent from this one, he did so.

Where the stallion found himself some time later looked to be a ruined village, where he was shocked to see so many spheres, so many souls, he really hoped that soul snatcher never came here. When he landed his rider was instantly surrounded by several of these spheres, lifted off his back, and turned so she seemed to be laying in the air. Souls dashed about here and there, what they were doing the stallion couldn't tell, there was to many to really even be able to see his rider anymore. All he could do was wait it seemed, so he lay under where she was floating, if that Sprite thought she was feeling bad, then she had no clue had Ebion felt then, plus he knew not how long they would be there. He hoped it wasn't to long, for it was, that meant his rider was in worse shape now then he feared...

( Hint my duo will be in this place at least three days )

"The Spirit Demon of the Monastery"

Keeper arrived back home to a horrible discovery....the monastery was nothing more than a pile of embers now...some still glowing lightly...his home had been burned down in his absence...He looked around grimly trying to keep his anger down...he heard people...He walked around and saw three men with touches and jugs of what he assumed was alcohol...The men laughed proudly at their work.. "Haha...Spirit Demon huh? More like a phantom!" one of them laughed looking at his partners who laughed and nodded...Keeper felt his blood begin to boil...to burn down his house then mock him about it...Lyrica sensing his demonic pressure rising at a alarming rate came out and tried to calm the man...she knew what happened when he got like this...thy worked to stop this, her and his mother, but they couldn't change what he was....Lyricas pleads to calm himself and think, fell on deaf ears..Keeper was blinded by rage...Out of every emotion, every feeling humans felt this one and only this one was the one Keeper and every other Soulguard understood...anger and hate...usually it fueled the beings making them stronger demons, but for Keeper it changed him....Behind the expressionless mask, two bright red eyes stared at the men...Keeper when completely still...it was as if he had frozen...Lyrica was about to touch him went in a sudden flash he ran and attacked the men using only his hands...The first he killed with a piece of debris from the fire. He jammed it through the man pinning him to the ground...he grabbed the second before he could run and snapped his neck...the last, more brave threatened with his torch....Keeper looked at him and grabbed his head...he started chanting in the tongue of the Soulguard...the man kicked and fought slowly turning white...soon his eyes were white and his was nothing more than a shell his soul extracted by Keeper...Once he calmed her looked at the men all dead and turned away...They would need to find a new home....Lyrica remained silent and flew into his cloak trying to forget the images of the men..Usually Keeper was only a threat to those who threatened him...but when enraged the true Soulguard came out and he was quite dangerous....she would forget this incident...or at least try...Keeper walked not sure where he was going looking for a new home...he used a spirit who showed him a place where there were many spirits an abandoned village...that was his destination....

The souls were taking their time with their precious charge, it did no good to rush such things, in fact the Demonheart would be stronger for it. Ebion, who had been a mess of nerves for the first day, was able to relax somewhat when the souls showed him that she was healing, unfortunately time still seemed to pass to slow for him with nothing to do. It was on the third day when he felt something and moved from where he lay, taking off to scout the area, what he saw horrified him. Had he jinxed it somehow? Was fates really determined to bring his rider down? Of all creatures to be coming this way it had to be that soul snatcher! The stallion had no doubt in his mind what that monster was after, he had to warn all those souls! He dove like a bullet before he was seen, disappearing back over the hills that was still between the village and the trouble that approached it. Taking heed of Ebion's warning half the souls moved Uni to hide her, she wasn't ready yet, the rest stayed and started sparking as if in anger.

Keeper would never make it to the village, to the hills that overlooked it maybe, but no further then that. With the light show the souls were putting on, Ebion would have been hard to spot, but the stallion came into view when all attention from the village seemed to shift. A sudden vibe of fury swept over the hills, a sound of heavy crashing waves and a loud roar shook the land, something had just came out of the water on the opposite hills of where Keeper stood (I can just see this playing here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6qAIaqK3_Q) The souls that had taken Uni out of the village came zipping over the hills to join the rest and a new light show began, almost as if they were calling. A series of roars answered and again water could be heard as if something very big was walking out of it, followed by sounds of crashes, and a massive head of a wolf topped the hills as the beast made its way around.

The beast rounded the hills and entered the valley with another roar, revealing a massive white, winged wolf, her markings matched the color of the jewel on her forehead, a jewel that looked very much, like the one Ebion's rider had. Uni continued her trek until she stood between Keeper and the village, turning her head, anger apparent in deep blue eyes. There was a sound which could have been mistaken for thunder, but it was the beast growling, a warning that Keeper had come to the wrong place. Anger, rage, fury, all could be a Demonheart's enemy, especially a Demonheart who was still young and had yet to learn how to fully control her powers, for it was these emotions that triggered this transformation. An out of control Demonheart could be just as dangerous as an out of control Soulguard, if not more so, the devastation a hybrid Demonheart could cause in their Demon form was worse then even an atomic bomb.

"The Spirit Demon of the Monastery"

Misunderstood...that was what Keeper was...legedns and actions if Soulguards made things hard on the being...everyone believed Soulguard were evil creature who killed a feasted on souls of innocent beings to become stronger...and while some did he did not...Keeper hated killing and if her did kill he wouldn't feast on the soul...Murdered souls, vengeful would were the most bitter of all souls and he preferred not to eat those...Another thing he did not do was prevent innocent souls from passing on...every soul he consumed were souls trapped in the world of the living, forever lost to the heavens...He did nothing more but use his own body as their home...He was emotionless and cold, but the reason behind this was deep rooted in his family...at birth his father a Shadow demon, named Solvek Ripped the boys soul out and hid it away...no matter their attempts no one could find the boys soul and Solvek disappeared leaving the boy without a soul or feelings, or a clear understanding.....That's why his mother sent Lyrica...to act as a soul for the boy, do the things a soul, give him understanding and a conscious...But this caused him problems...

Standing before the demon on the hill he could sense she had a strong demonic pressure...and he could see she was angry...He didn't want to fight...not now...but he knew it might be inevitable. He closed his eyes and started speaking in his tongue...he stomped his foot and it seemed that the field illuminated with souls...hundreds if not thousands of souls appeared and stated circling the hill . He tried to take in the souls but something was wrong...he couldn't take these souls as if they were curse, unable to be absorbed or held...Sadly he was pushed to just fight with the few souls he had in his body already...It was only one or two since he had sent out the one to protect the girl...he wasn't sure where it was now but he regretted now sending out the soul to protect the ungrateful rider and her horse...now that may cause his death and possibly harm to Lyrica...Lyrica..she did nothing to deserve any harm, he was being attacked because he simply was known as a monster...He accepted that but he didn't want her to pay for his reputation....He looked at the demon reached in his cloak and grabbed Lyrica...who was in a state of peace...something she needed to do to keep herself alive as a sprite...He knelt down and laid her down in a flower big enough for her to fit..he looked at her then the demon...unsure if its intentions or brutality... "Demon...I don't know what you want...if its my life only one of us can leave here...but I warn you...if this sprite is harmed during the course of this fight, even in death my soul won't rest until you pay for it...Now...I'll ask..allow me to pass..I mean no one any harm, unless that is your intention..." he stood and looked at the demon and started moving forward...he waked cautiously in case she attacked...
