Avery smiled and she ran after her. However she lost him in the trees. Her fingers brushed the bark as she became lost in the scenery for a moment. She looked around "Max! You're such a chicken!' she called loudly.

Max came up behind her and threw her over his shoulder. "Gottvha now!!!" He cried and ran with her.

Avery gasped and let out a giggling protest "Hey! Put me down right now!" she said through giggles. She swatted at his back and wiggled trying to get free.

Max heard something as he ran through the trees. "Shh..." He said. He jumped into the trees and ran up the trunks. He set Avery on a limp and turned to look for the source of the noise. His well trained eyes scanned the woods for life of any kind. All the while he was thinking about the sound. The simple snap of a twig, armies have been given away less.

Avery made no noise. She felt vulnerable because she didn't have her bow or a gun. Her fingers held his bicep and she glanced around. She smirked when Lupa came running searching for them. She smiled shaking her head and dropped beside her "Come 'ere girl" she said embracing her. It didn't last long though, she heard a pop and the once wiggling wolf went limp in her arms. She gasped and saw blood in her side and she stood setting her down. She looked up "M....Max?" her eyes brimmed with tears and she heard the footsteps and began to run towards camp, she needed a gun or an arrow fast.

Max stood as his wolf fell. He was berserk. He drew both swords and charged the attacker. He struck the man in the face with the pommel of his ninjato, breaking his nose. with a mighty roar max beat the man and knocked him to the ground. HE drove his blades into the mans shoulders to pin him and began to stomp on his pelvis until his felt it snap beneath his steel toed boot. He dimly heard the mans cries of agony and his pleas for mercy, but Max could not care, he was an animal. He grabbed the man and pulled him up the swords until he reached the cross guards and slammed him back down on the ground hard enough to shatter a rib. Max twisted his swords out of the mans wounds and stomped his chest again. "STAY!!!!" He snarled and ran back to Lupa. He wrapped his shirt around the wolf and carried her back to camp.

He laid the wolf by the fire and grabbed Avery's hand and made her hold the shirt on Lupa's wound. He ran back to the man and picked up the man. His arms dangling by the bones having been stripped of flesh from Max's removing his swords. He carried him to the camp and dropped him by the fire. Max kicked him in the head one more time and set down by the dog again. he took time to look at the wound. "A through and through she will be fine." He began to stitch her up.

Avery stumbled and fell to the camp tears streaming her cheeks. It was hard to get close to something here. He heard Max's voice and then saw him. She held the shirt as Lupa looked at her, her big black eyes sad. She bit into her bottom lip and ran her hands through the wolves fur. "It's alright, Its alright" she tried to sound strong but, she was so afraid she'd lose one of the closest friends she'd made since Max found her. Max stitched her up and Lupa crawled to sit by the fire. Avery sighed she moved and sat beside max hugging him as she buried her face in his shoulder from behind.

Lupa sat by the fire and Max laid his arm over Averys shoulders. He rubs her arms and lets her cry. He looked over at the man and saw him watching them. Max's eyes lost all emotion and then slowly seemed to burn with cold fury. He would kill that man. and he knew it.

Avery looked up at him. She cupped his face and pulled it down to hers so their eyes met. "Max, let it go" she spoke softly. She knew he wouldnt "Max I....... I" she didnt know how to say she was falling for him so she didn't, she took a risk and kissed him then and there.

Max sat shocked as she kissed him, then he held her and kissed her back with earnest. He pulled her into his arms and just kissed her.

She was surprised when he kissed her back. She pulled back a moment looping her arms around his neck she kissed him for a few more blissful moments before she needed air. She hesitantly broke the kiss and laid her head on his shoulder silently.

Max held her in his arms as she laid against him. He was happy that she wanted him. He sighed relaxdly. Her kiss was still registering all around his body. The pleasure was radiating through him. Lupa crawled up and in between them.

Avery smiled "Hey girl, You want a kiss to?" she joked smiling. She smiled at Max "yeah, Max's kisses are pretty breath taking hm?" she looked at max "She wants a kiss from you" she said smiling. She pressed a kiss into his cheek her stomach flipped and flopped with butterflies and her heart raced. She was falling hard for him, and she hoped he'd be there to catch her.

Max gave his rumbling laugh. He planted a kiss on top of lupas head and she wriggles to lick Averys hand. Max was nervous as all hell but he knew he was falling for her too. He had been since the day he saved her.

Avery smiled and let her lick her hand. She bent and kissed the wolves wet nose and was met with a lick to the face. She giggled "Yes yes, I love you too" she said laughing. She looked up at Max, why could she say it to the wolf but not to the man who had saved her. She offered a shy smile and looked down "I'll never thank you enough for how much you've down for me Max" she spoke softly.
