Max turned on his heel, sword held at the ready as he watched the barn and buildings for people to ambush them. However as they walked up to him by the tank on its trailer, Max saw nothing in the windows of the house or the stalls of the barn. He did however see some usefull things in the barn: A snow plow that would fit on the front of his steamer, several flakes of straw (for fire starting), a maul, a double bladed ax, and many other things.
walking in after these things, Max picked up the ax, testing it's weight in his hand. He lifted the maul onto his shoulder with the ax and passed them to Jamie. "Here, you can use these so your sister don't have to get wood. and you can keep the ax." He said kindly as Jamie looked over his new things.
Max nodded to Avery as he passed her, going for the house. He walked slowly to the house and pushed the door open. It hung on squeaky hinges as he slowly moved through the house, sword at the ready. he watched everything and listened as he moved through the house ever so slowly.
Once Max was certain that the house was empty, he pulled the blankest off the beds and piled them up with several things that could be used to save peoples lives. Caned foods and jugs went into the pile along with plastic bags, matches, a cook pot and a skillet, and some old coal oil lamps he took extra good care of. Some of those could have been around for hundreds of years. Max placed everything in to the bags and blankets he had found so that they wouldn't break, rip through the bundles, or cut anything.
When Max left the house he had several bundles in his arms. The lamps he held carefully in his hands as he was going to put them into the steamer so that they wouldn't be hurt.
