As she turned to leave, his hand reached out for her wrist. Before the stunned redhead could ask him what he wanted, he'd flung her back on the bed, dagger held up to her throat. The pain in his side made him gnash his teeth to keep from growling in pain, but he refused to let her go. "You can't react fast enough? Do you think you could be an assassin based off of your appearance? There's no skill in charm." Anger mounted in his voice as Adeney pressed the dagger tighter against her skin. "What if I actually intended to kill you? You'd be dead." His voice was unnaturally hostile as he squeezed the blade tight enough to feel her throat constrict as she breathed. You... You could have been dead."
Limply, he released his grip on her and the dagger, slumping next to her in self-inflicted defeat. It was obvious he was no longer speaking about the fact that she didn't defend herself on time. Adeney was obviously very grief-stricken about not being able to defend her or his dear old friend. It was entirely his fault. He hadn't been able to protect them from harm. Because of his inability to deal with the situation correctly, Sercily had been lethally wounded and Alexandria narrowly escaped death. It was no wonder he'd spent so much time in bed.
"God, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have brought you into this mess. I shouldn't have involved you at all. We're all too young. You both shouldn't have turned up this way. There's no reason for you to live like this. Oh, God, I ruined you. I can't believe I did this to you over a petty crush." He looked at her bitterly, wordless for a moment. His eyes were soaked with unexplained remorse but when he spoke again, despite the softness of his voice, his words were weighed by a menacing undertone. "Get out. I don't want you here anymore. Don't come back. I don't want you involved with us anymore." With every heart-wrenching word that he spat, his voice gradually grew angrier. In his frustration, he stabbed the dagger in the wall next to him, jamming most of the blade in from the brute force. "Leave, Alexandria! I told you to get out. Now!"

Alexandria stiffened when the dagger was pressed to her throat rather closely to her skin, feeling a slight break of the first layers as she felt her heart pounding. What was wrong with him?! First he was grateful then it went down to him wanting her gone.
Fine- if he wants her gone and if she wasn't good enough for him... Well that is perfect for her! Alexandria gently raised herself to her elbows, her tears threatening to spill but she kept up her glare... Then, when he hissed his final word she suddenly slapped him. Hard. The kind that could shut any man up. When she felt his eyes go back towards her she was already off of the bed and her back to him going towards the door. Not before she would give him a small final piece of her mind.
"You know what? You should wear a condom on your head because if you're gonna act like a d**k you you might as well dress like one!" She then slammed the door making the walls rattle then dead silence with the exception of her heels softly echoing in the distance as she left the floor. How could he do this to her?! What had she done to deserve that kind of treatment? Her anger boiled, her heart was pounding so hard her chest was hurting.
She, Alexandria Belle wanted to just... Cry. Her body was shaking with hurt, why did she even bother with staying in a place like this? Shaking her head she quickly came up with the only thing to do. Going towards the office of De' Rossi she took out a piece of paper and scribbled-
My Dear Rossi,
I'm leaving. I found out that I am no longer wanted anymore. And I will not stand here and take s**t from your boy who thinks that the world revolves around him. I promise to make sure that no one knows of your location. You have my word, I can't tell you where I am going. But I promise you all this... You will know and fear of my name.
Assassino.
With that she quickly threw the small throwing dagger she had on her, stabbing it onto his desk as she quickly went back to her bathe area. Taking her hood, Daggers, small rapier, and lastly her small pocket watch. The only thing she had held from the family. The pocket time traveler device. Gripping it tightly she has to figure out how to get this thing working again and get out of this era. Sadly she was stuck til it can be fixed. Looking around the final time she bit her lower lip and drew up her hood. No goodbyes were necessary. This time she was on her own, and now that she knew the streets the least she could do was take on one assignment without De' Rossi knowing.
It was high time that the one noble who refused to pay last month get what he deserved for not paying. Plus- as sadistic as it sounded she wanted to kill something to get the emotions back from spieling out of control. But a certain merchant will have to do.
'This is going to be my parting gift to you De' Rossi.'

The night was cool, but not too cool that would deem freezing out. A light breeze blew in her direction, making her cape wave lightly in it. She stared at the house across from her while she perched herself on the rooftops. There was still a light and the window was opened. It was one of De' Rossi's last warnings before he left and it usually worked. 'Leave the window open,' he'd warn and most people did. Those who didn't, well, she dealt with them and he ended up getting what he wanted.
Alexandria judged the distance from the rooftop to the window, only to have her let out a breath of irritation. It was too far to jump, meaning she would have to climb down and walk over and she'd have to do it without being seen. Being seen was not a good thing and she would pretty much be signing her own death warrant if she was seen. Peeking over the edge to make sure no one was around. Alexandria spotted a soft flower cart that was abandoned, using that as her landing target she stood up and dived down, making sure to flip onto her back so she would land on the flowers.
Once her feet touched the ground, she pulled on her cape around her and walked towards the house of De' Rossi's target, constantly watching over her shoulder to make sure no one was around. Alexandria silently thanked him for living on a street where no one had decided to take a midnight stroll. With graceful steps she dashed and ducked to the wall right under the window, grateful that the window wasn't too high off the ground. With quickness and stealth she pulled herself up and into the room. The Merchant didn't even notice her.
"Have you made your decision?" Alex asked in an emotionless, stone cold voice. The Merchant -a man of course- jumped and turned around, obviously startled.
"Um…uh," he obviously didn't. Most of them didn't, most of them had a problem choosing between their lives and someone controlling their lives. The choice would be easy if it were posed to any sane person, She was sure they rather have a life controlled by a more gentler man than some sadistic, power hungry maniac or even to have no life at all. Alexandria raised her eyebrows expectantly, though knowing this man couldn't see it. She kept her hood up. The man in front of her gulped before speaking up.
"Yes, I have my answer," he said, nervousness, uncertainty and fright clear in his voice and eyes.
"And?"
"No, my answer is no." Alexandria smiled, she was hoping she would have to do this tonight.
"Are you sure about that?" she asked, stepping closer and pulling out her dagger. He gulped, sensing the mistake he had just made and stepping back.
"Y-yes," he stuttered.
"I didn't want to do this, but I don't have a choice." she said, walking towards him, dagger ready. He backed against the wall. Her smile getting slightly bigger she started to imagen the man was her pain. Her hurt that Adeney had inflicted upon her heart. All of it coming towards this man as she gripped her dagger tighter.
"W-wait, I-I've changed my mind," he said hurriedly.
"No mind changing," she said, nearly in a cute soft purr.
"P-please," he begged, a look of desperation and pleading on his face, something that would've made some people stop and think about what they were doing but Alexandria didn't hesitate in advancing on him. Her pain was far beyond her now, hell she even had her brain and compassion shut off.
"No mind changing," she repeated before putting her hand over his mouth and thrusting the dagger forward.

A D E N E Y,x L I E F.

Adeney could barely feel the sting of her hand as she stormed out. She was angry, but it was incomparable to what he felt. As soon as the door finished rattling, he sat there, fuming. He wanted so bad to stop her. It took all he could to refrain from running after her, yanking open the door and shouting her name. But he didn't. Instead, he punched the wall and let out a string of fluent Italian curses. As expected, the pain coursed down his arm and side from the force, making him even more frustrated. Still irate, he reached under his bed for a bottle of liquor.
He uncorked the bottle and, without a second thought, he doused a good amount in one swig. And another. And another. Adeney didn't feel one bit better as the empty bottle left his lips, but he was going for another one anyway. In his drunken choler, the inebriated young man threw the bottle at the wall, not caring about the glass shards that littered the floor. He was already rather intoxicated, but he wrenched off the second cork, replaying the preceding memory in his head. After every chug, the memory got weaker, and pretty soon he was slouched over his pillow, mumbling a slurred, dejected, Italian tune whose words he didn't know quite well anymore. There was nothing he cared about anymore. At this point, nothing could get worse. And, if it did, he was too drunk to worry about it.
. . .
"Adeney? Adeney, wake up." The familiar Irish accent of one of his brothers woke him. It was Cillian. The heavy foreign twang to his voice was giving more of a headache than it usually did, but that was most likely from the ridiculous amount of alcohol he'd consumed. As his eyes fluttered open, he was greeted by the blinding blur of Cillian's candle and the blur of Alessio's confused face in the background. "Brother, you've worked yourself into quite a stupor." His older friend held up one of the many empty bottles that he'd had to step over on Adeney's floor. "I don't think you've ever slept this late. Anyway, Mentore De' Rossi sent us to fetch you but... are you aware that miss Alexandria left him a note saying she was leaving? He's gone mad with anger, and he expects you to explain immediately."
Groaning, he managed to pull himself up into a sitting position. His head was pounding violently, and he could barely speak from the dryness of his mouth. "Good lord, Cillian, point the candle somewhere else. Why in God's name are you pointing it directly at my eyes? The blooming thing is making me blind." The aftereffect of the former night's heavy drinking had taken an awful toll on him. Just that simple motion of sitting up made him disoriented. Adeney was already regretting taking the first drink, but, then again, being reminded of Alexandria leaving already made him long to escape his sobriety.
Cillian and Alessio exchanged bewildered looks. The candle was barely producing any light in the room as it was, so they were immediately aware of the extent of his condition regarding the hangover. Alessio spoke up in an awkward mumble. "Adeney, we're scarcely holding it near you. Are you alright? I'm assuming you know the reason behind Alexandria leaving, because Sercily doesn't seem to know a thing, and we didn't want to keep asking because we didn't want to upset him in his present... condition."
The name immediately rid him of his annoyance. It appeared that Sercily was still bed-ridden and in terrible shape, judging by the way Alessio had phrased his words and the way his voice had changed at mentioning his name. The sudden mix of his emotions and the spinning of his head were making his stomach retch. Adeney was dangerously close to vomiting on his own bed, had it not been for Cillian diving for a bucket and shoving it in his hands. As soon he was done wiping his mouth, he put down the bucket shakily and leaned against the wall, feeling disgusted about coughing up vomit but feeling significantly better.
"Are you alright, Adeney?" Both Alessio and Cillian had spooked looks on their faces, but he merely waved them off.
"I... I need to see De' Rossi." Though still dizzy, he managed to stand up and leave the room at a frantic pace, leaving his two brothers behind, standing in silent perplexity.
. . .
"You stupid pillock! I've got a mind to kick you out myself. Did you really think you were doing her good by sending her off, you prattish imbecile? You're not protecting her from any sort of reality by throwing her out! Now she's wandering the streets alone, and, being affiliates with our mafia, we have enemies who wouldn't think twice about taking advantage of that. For Christ's sake, you found her severely wounded because of her killing of Doel's father. Did you think that by throwing her out of the mafia, Doel wouldn't target her anyway?" De' Rossi was in a rampage. As soon as Adeney had finished explaining the situation, he'd practically run him into a corner and had been screaming at him since, not allowing a single word. Adeney meekly absorbed all the insults and curses flung at him, with every word feeling even more desperate and stupid about not realizing that for himself. "What in God's name were you thinking, you twit?"
Adeney's hangover seemed to be completely dried up, but that didn't stop his head from aching from his mentor shouting at him. Despite the fact, it was suddenly urgent that he leave right then to find her. "I'm so sorry, Mentore De' Rossi. I... I'm an idiot. God, I'm so sorry! I need to go find her. I promise I'll be back with her, safe!"
"Just go find her before I wring your neck out, boy. And be careful."
With that, Adeney broke out into a sprint as he ran to start looking for her.
. . .
He'd been looking for about an hour or two. It wasn't till he'd thought about looking back around the merchant's shop that he'd actually known what to follow. He could smell blood as soon as he walked in the door. Immediately, Adeney realized it'd been Alexandria. The corpse on the floor lay crumpled near the corner, and the young man didn't even need to see her dagger before he bolted out the door, in search of her.
He hadn't known how far she'd gone at this point but, after a few minutes, he received his answer. Adeney felt a dagger narrowly skim the skin on his cheek, followed by another that stuck, luckily, to the side of his boot soon thereafter. As soon as he looked down, he caught a glimpse of red hair and a small smile spread across his face, despite the circumstances. Finally things were looking up.
Adeney then started to run.

Alexandria laughed cheerfully but in a way mockingly as he ran across the rooftops of Rome's buildings, trying to make Adeney chase her down. Just hours ago, Adeney had dared to yell at her, and she was going to make him pay for it. Was it her fault that he did what he had done? No! She was completely innocent of this entire damn argument. Alexandria didn't understand why he was chasing her at all. After all he didn't want her in the Mafia and her training and talents she is going to assume was a waste of time. Well, she'll show him that their sparring and training wasn't going to be a waste.
She knew his strength and weaknesses. So she only made sure to keep him on his toes, and nothing wrong with showing him that being a lady has more perks than what he's underestimating. Using a quick movement she turned around, gracefully throwing off her cloak and then flung it at Adeney. Her legs then sprang towards him using the cloak as a distraction of his vision, she then leaped up on a small raised chimney. Watching him stop for a moment because the cape covered his head he would only feel her hands on his shoulders. Using them as a balance so she could flip over him. Her feet landing softly on the roof tile she then used her bent knees to get a jump start once more as she dashed off again, shouting loudly-
"Go Home Laddie! And stay in bed like the damn little Sticchiu you are!" She growled in full Irish.
This time, she was not going to let him have the upper hand, and Alexandria knew that he was improving at his free-running. However, Adeney was beginning to overtake her now, and the girl wanted to show that she could finally defeat him in this chase.
Alexandria saw the destination about 100 yards away from her now, but Adeney was still trailing behind in the dust. Finally, Alexandria decided to hurl herself forward gracefully placing both of her hands forward in a dive pose as she noticed Adeney very much behind her, the way his face looked, a sheer twist of both amusement and yet a darker shade of being pissed off. Making Alexandria smile all that more.
She looked back down to see the surface of the crystal clear water coming closer and closer to her vision giving her enough time to take one deep breath. Feeling the coldness of the waters sting her skin as she tried to swim as fast as she could once she felt that it was deep enough. Not bothering to turn around to see if she was followed she surfaced once more. Gasping loudly, her strokes were fast- moving her forward towards the edge of the street. Her last stroke was able to get her over the edge to pull herself up. Using all the strength she had to do so she was finally out of the water, feeling the clothes soaking her to the bone and making her move rather slowly.
But Adeney was quickly after her, knowing he can catch up to her easily. She felt her heart pumping, Alexandria was already standing and ready to run again but suddenly felt herself being tackled to the ground, making her cry in surprise as she tried to squirm away, her heart beat racing and deafening her ears. But one hard yank to force her to roll over was all it took to make her obey.
Alexandria was forced to spread herself out in the stone cobbled ground, with her skirt pushed rather high up her pale sweetly plump thighs. Her red hair was now slightly messy and clinging to her white skin as she panted for air. The tender muscle showing as she twitched in the cold. The smooth arch yet gently defined collar bone trailed down to the rich soft swell of her breast, which strained the worn dark uniform. Her long milky limbs splayed out for him as her flesh having a touch of blue from the cold air and the wet skin that is now drip drying in the cold. The faint paleness of her soft cupid shaped lips, the lovely curve of her large eyes with their tones of deepest ocean blue, she could only shiver at him still shocked that he was able to tackle her down. But she focused on Adeney's face, seeing a dark smirk form on his lips. Making her heart beat more.
What she didn't know, was that this image was a slow melody, a flesh written harmony that entrapped his mind and tormented his senses. But not for long...
"Scendere di bastardo! Let go!" Alexandria growled in her accent that was still heard- which she is sure was foreign to him but didn't care, as she kicked and struggled several times, desperately trying to break free. She was not going to be pinned again. Adeney was not going to win nor will she let it be a tie. "Se non viene mi lasci andare ... Ti spezzo il collo maledetto!!"

The girl had bolted the second he took a step, but that was alright with Adeney. He knew this road like the back of his hand. Swiftly, he jumped from a wooden barrel to reach the edge a rooftop and scramble up in a single motion, not missing a step as he continued to run after her. It'd cost him a number of yards, but he was most comfortable up here. Several nights were spent leaping from rooftop to rooftop, trying to scurry away from Mercerio as fast as he could in order to practice his escaping skills. Had Adeney stumbled or fallen, an unwanted reward would await him once Mercerio swiftly caught up. Thus, at this point, tripping was an unthinkable term. After numerous punishments for his lack of grace upon training, this was as natural as breathing.
He'd arrived at a rooftop with a view to the water just before she leaped. Hoping she wasn't a skilled swimmer, he swung from the edge of the rooftop into a bale of hay, easily sliding off and pulling himself over the small wall that followed the fodder. Adeney caught a glimpse of red in the water, and he didn't try to swim after her. Instead, knowing where she was headed, he sprinted off to the bend, panting as he rounded the corner and turned to find her pulling herself out of the shimmery gleam of water. He wasn't about to let her run, so he forced her on the ground, where they were caught in the familiar scene.
Once again Adeney found himself over the girl, and his heart was nonetheless slower than it was the first time. As soon as he looked down at her, his heart accelerated, beating in a hasty pattern of thumps that he wondered if she could hear. Despite the overwrought feeling that coursed through his veins, though, he smiled a bit. Adeney was immensely relieved that she was fine and that he knew where she was. Unfortunately, the moment was ruined by her sudden struggling and crying out, "Scendere di bastardo! Let go! Se non viene mi lasci andare ... Ti spezzo il collo maledetto!"
Surprised for a moment, he jumped, wide-eyed. "No, Allie, wai--" Obviously she hadn't even heard him begin to explain himself nor would she probably care to wait and hear it if she had in the first place. Alexandria flung him to the side in her burst of furious resistance and, as he flopped over on his back, bewildered, she scrambled to her feet and began to run, creating a good distance between them before he even thought about getting up and running after her again.

It had started to rain now, though last she remembered the moon still had its radiant glow, but now it was cast behind a dark thunder cloud making her groan as she kept going. Alexandria retreated into a dark ally way. Taking a few steps near the edge of a closed workshop, the woman scoped the streets for any unwanted guards. And, when the timing was right, she’d sprint for a few houses, stop and scale the roads again. Alexandria’s vision was hazy, now having short blackouts whenever she moved. Her foot had hit a pail of water, and slipped, howling in pain as soon as her side smashed against the concrete. She closed her eyes, her face turned into an agonizing grimace. Alexandria heard a door opening in the distance, as a man walked to her side. He whispered in her ear, but the only words she got were “Don’t worry, Signora.”
What she didn't know was that man was a famous man, none other than Leondardo Di Vinci himself. Leonardo da Vinci was a cheerful and optimistic man. What some didn't know however was his best friend was head of a Mafia De Rossi, and as such, he treated him like a brother and had taken great risks to protect him, even though he said later that courage was not his strong suit.
Despite being an accomplished and respected artist, as well as deeply curious about the world's wonders, Leonardo da Vinci was also a chronic procrastinator. Most of his commissioned works took years longer than anticipated, and many were never even finished. It is possible that this was because he did not feel his work to be important enough to devote his life to, as when he met De' Rossi, he complained that it lacked purpose and he wishes to do something which had more impact on the world, such as architecture. Regardless, when Leonardo was intrigued by something, he became insatiably curious and often impossible to communicate with. Either way, De Rossi would always stop by to visit him once in a while to see his old friend.
But that was a different story best told another time, right now the girl in is arms was seriously exhausted and the blood on her clothes told him she wasn't the kind that walked on the streets for money.Leonardo gently brought into his workshop, full of his inventions, paintings and anything that made him smile with glee. Even weapons for De' Rossi's mafia family. And because of this the workshop was hardly ever clean. But then again, if it was clean it would drive Leonardo up the wall searching for his tools. So he left it as the mess that it is in now.
He gently layed her down on the couch he would normally use for his models in paintings to sit on. Just as he was about to treat her another knock on the door made him raise his eyebrows.

A D E N E Y,x L I E F.

"Ah, tempo che non ci vediamo, il mio vecchio amico Lief.*" Leonardo had grown slightly since Adeney had last seen him. The young man was about his age, give or take a few months. They'd only met a couple of times, usually on account of business, however, they had spoken enough for Adeney to develop an opinion about him. Da Vinci was incredibly quirky, and it was obviously so even from peering in from his doorstep into his cluttered home. Mostly unfinished but gorgeous paintings occupied canvases that obstructed tables and walls, and piles of scribbles and quick sketches lay in messy piles. Even more impressive than the artwork and sculptures however, were the machines that stood in heaps, waiting to be worked on. Adeney secretly was incredibly intrigued by the one hanging from the ceiling that advertised drooping wings. Flying was such a extraordinary notion to the boy, and, despite the numerous machines that offered similarly fascinating actions, the flying machine piqued his interest. Leonardo had a brilliant mind, yes, but the boy's personality clashed too much with Adeney's. Though very friendly and annoyingly cheerful, Da Vinci did have several bad habits, such as always being busy during his conversation. However polite he could be, Leonardo always seemed to be busy with a multitude of things as he spoke, be it a loose screw here and a dab of paint there. Adeney was aware that De Rossi held this boy in high regards, but he couldn't see why his affection was set on areas other than his intelligence and talent.
"Enough with the formalities, Leonardo. I'm sure you're aware there's a bleeding, most likely unconscious girl in there, and you're intent on being polite?" Adeney was in a rather petulant demeanor. Normally, he would have returned the courtesy, but, under the circumstances, it seemed unnecessary. "Surely you can skip the 'proper Italian greeting.'"
"Oh, but that's no way to greet an old friend!" There was his signature grin again. Adeney scowled in return. As expected, Leonardo didn't exactly jump up to fulfill his request. It was reasonable, but, at the moment, Adeney was profoundly vexed by his cheerfulness. "I'm sure you understand that's a bit of a big decision to make right away, so why don't you explain things to me over a cup of tea, eh amico**? C'mon, I'll start the kettle." Begrudgingly, Adeney followed him inside.
"I don't have time for this, Da Vinci."
"Don't fret, Adeney, she's in good care. You'll get to see your lovely lady as soon as we've had our chat. Gingerbread?" The inventor thrust out a small bushel of warm bread at Adeney, who glared his response. Nonetheless, smiling, Leonardo was unfazed by the splenetic vibe and took a mouthful of one of them himself. "It's a pleasurable surprise that you both stop by, despite the circumstances. What's the redhead's name?"
"Alexandria. And I'd like to have her back soon, if you don't mind." Adeney glared at the hunk of sweet bread in his hand. It reeked of ginger. Leonardo might have be a genius, but he lacked such grandeur in his own kitchen. It seemed the boy lived strictly off of tea, (which was the only thing that any of his guests actually enjoyed being served from him), as his focuses were always somewhere else. He had no time to spare for practicing his cooking.
"You just got here! Come, Adeney, have you ever seen this painting? I started her about two months ago. I just can't figure out the right color for her eyes." Instantly he was handed a small canvas of an odd painting. Adeney looked up at him in exasperation. The boy really was eccentric. The picture depicted a woman whose curly, purple hair waved after her as she appeared to dance. "I was thinking scarlet, but I'm not sure if it would clash with her cloak? Say--have you ever tried a banana? They're exotic fruits, and they're fresh from the last shipment. Those merchants bring back such interesting things."
Adeney was used to Leonardo talking like this. His mind, as always, was in a million different places at once. In one instant he was reviewing the quality of a beautiful girl with purple hair and the next he was being handed extrinsic fruit from across the sea. Not sure how to peel such a thing, he held it in one hand. "I see."
"Oh, yes, send De' Rossi my regards. He's a fine man, you know. Last visit he was very cordial about my recent attempt at making something I call a clock. It's all a bunch of springs as of now, but I managed to make the dials spin for a few minutes before it burst. I mean for them to finally turn for much longer than that, maybe forever!" Leonardo rummaged around in a drawer for said item, now feverish with excitement. "If I find it and finish it somehow, we'd be able to tell the time with the position of the sun and moon. All we'd have to do is look at the contraption. It's proved unsuccessful thus far, but I'm intent on making the thing work."
"Look, how many things are you going to show me before we actually discuss the matter at hand, Leonardo?"
With that, whistling could be heard from the kitchen. Leonardo stopped his searching and chuckled in amusement. "How convenient, eh amico**? I'll get us the tea and we could start once we're set up."
. . .
"Ah, Adeney, you're quite the lady killer. Povera carina rossa piccola.***" Leonardo, grinning as always, stroked the red locks of hair as Adeney glared at him in resentful silence. The other boy noticed the negative attention and chuckled. "Calm yourself, brother. She's all yours. Well, that is, until she wakes up. I can't hand her off to you to do God know's what to her poor little unconscious self." He chuckled again at Adeney's even more angrier glare. "Kidding, of course."
"Leonardo, this is ridiculous. It's hours till daylight."
"Then let's hope she wakes up sooner than that, eh Adeney?" The hallmark grin was quickly grinding on Adeney's nerves. but he had no other choice but to sit down and content to Leonardo's demands.
. . .
"Ah, long time no see, my old friend Lief."*
"amico."**
"Poor cute little redhead."***

Alexandria awoke with a headache. It was to be expected, she supposed, as she groaned and flipped over in her bed, burying her head deeper into her pillow... That felt more flatter than a pillow should be. However just in the one act, she realized something was wrong. Gently she opened her eyes looking around realizing that she wasn't outside, in fact she didn't know where she was.
And the man who was staring at her was making her a little uneasy, of course she didn't know who he was so it was best to just play a little dumb...
"Um... H-Hi?"
"Ah so you speak English but such a erotic accent! Fascinating please tell me angelo bella** How do you feel?" Leonardo asked making Alexandria bite her lower lip, the man did seem very odd but nothing for her to really worry about. He seemed nice as she looked down speaking quietly and softly because her headache was really making her a little lightheaded.
"My head hurts a lot. I-I guess taking a plunk in the water would do that to you huh? Or hitting my head on the ground."
Leonardo only smiled and patted the little girl's head, "Do not worry I know a good remedy for that. Oh! I shall be back with some special tea for you." He then moved away making Alexandria blink but smile a little. The man was nice but... He looked familiar. Of course looking around she started to realize. Leonardo Da Vinci! Her eyes blinked at the wonderment of his workshop... Until her eyes landed on the man across the room making her glare at him. She quickly turned away not wanting to hear a word the damn little boy is going to say.
Leonardo however, came back with some ginger and honey tea. Making Alexandria sit up a bit more as Leonardo placed the tea and saucer on her lap. "T-thank you sir." She quietly took her sip as Leonardo smirked, "Now, Adeney has told me his side of the story now, miss Alexandria. Please tell me your side."
Alexandria glared at Adeney as she gripped the teacup tightly making Leonardo look between the two in pure mix of awe and amusement. It wasn't till Alexandria finished her tea and set the dishes down before he listened carefully.
"I was told I wasn't needed and to leave. So I did. Plain and simple And I am not coming back!" Leonardo gently held her back before she would want to run off again. He gently held her close as he then stood up and gently took her hand then took Adeney's making Alex a little confused. "Um... Sir?"
"Please Miss Alexandria, call me Leo."
"O-Ok Leo... What are you doing?" Leonardo only smiled as he kept his grasp on their hands and took them to the spare bedroom shoving both of them into the room. Making the pair confused and yet pissed, not at each other this time. At Leonardo. Alexandria blinked when she heard the door then lock her eyes widen. "W-what the bloody ******** hell?!" She quickly went to the door and banged on it. "I-I swear you don't ledd me oudda here this instant I Amn’t** responsible for this lad's life if I take it!" Alexandria spewed in her pure raw irish accent pouring out of her mouth. She was pissed, turning to Adeney she looked to see a window- to which she then went towards it ready to escape.

"Hold on for just a moment, miss!" Just as irritated, Adeney swung her back by her hips and blocked the window. He wasn't about to let her escape again. This cat-and-mouse game was quickly losing its fun, and he didn't exactly feel like chasing after her just yet. "Allie, you've got to listen to me. I'm not exactly in the best condition for another fight, but I will if I have to. I'm not going to let you leave through that window right now."
"It's locked," the singsong voice of the artist seemed to be just outside of the door that he'd pushed them through. He certainly seemed to be entertained by this. "Anybody want a second round of tea? I could do with one myself. Oh, and have you showed the lady the fruit? Perhaps she'd be more interested in it than you, Adeney. Anyway, do any of you want potato soup? Wait, was I think it was apple cabbage... Oh, or what about pheasant roast? I made some yesterday afternoon and it's edible, for the most part. Not burnt or anything. I think I'll go heat some of that up..."
Slowly, his voice trailed off but the echo of his mutterings to himself could still be heard from the kitchen. Another pesky trait of Leonardo's was the fact that he had a tendency to talk to much, and, after a while, his droning was closer to him thinking out loud rather than an actual conversation. Adeney resisted the urge to roll his eyes and tell him to keep his thoughts to himself, but instead he looked at the furious redhead standing in front of him, relaxing at the thought of the window being locked. "Look, Allie, tesoro*, it hurt me more than it hurt you to hear those things. Believe me, do you think I fought so hard for you to stay just so I could change my mind so easily and tell you to leave?" Gently, he placed his hand on her wrist and felt the delicate brushing of skin between his palm and her wrist. His voice was almost a whisper as he spoke again. "Please, Alexandria, come back with us. I know now that your leaving was no good for either of us. Come back, Allie. Please. I promise I'll protect you to my fullest capacity. What happened with Doel was my fault, but I'll do everything in my power to keep that from repeating."
Before the redhead couple reply, there was a clattering of glass and metal, followed by a brief scuffling and the familiar laugh. "Sorry about that. I almost made a soup mess. Good lord, am I clumsy. Anyway, I didn't have any more honey so the tea is a bit bitter but I managed to find some cane sugar to--"
"Oh, pish**, shut your mouth for just a second, boy. Can't you see I'm apologizing to the lady?" Adeney's foul mood instantly returned at the growing volume of Leonardo's voice. The inventor merely laughed in amusement at his irascible temper. Trying hard to not snap at him again, he turned his eyes back to the redhead and delicately brushed a strand of red hair out of her face. "Please come back, Allie? Mentore De' Rossi desperately wants you home as much as I do."
. . .
Tesoro*: darling.

Alexandria squirmed when she felt him wrap her arms around her waist and moved her. Taking a step forward she then turned to face him as she growled, clutching her fists as she shook with anger.
"You think I don't know that?! I mean I was the one who was taking care of you!"
She watched him sigh, lowering his hand, and then reached it over to grasp one of her clenched fists gently, yet firmly. The feeling of his soft stroking on her wrist was making her... Calm down and slightly quivering. The way the contact was between hers and Adeney's was like a jolt of electricity going straight down her spine. It felt good, what else was there to say? She rested a hand against her hip gently as he pleaded softly for her to return, making her heart sting with a slight ache. She couldn't help but feel her anger suddenly disappear and replaced it with guilt. God why did she let her anger get the better of her?
"God damn it Adeney…" Alexandria sighed after a bit of silence and looked up into that pleading gaze that he used trying her best to tare away his gaze but she couldn't. Instead she took a step closer her eyes still locked with this.
Clank!
Alexandria jumped when Leonardo came in with food making her blink as she quickly broke her contact with Adeney's hand as she cleared her throat, a soft blush touching her cheeks heating up in a soft shade of rose making Leonardo that much more amused. Watching the inventor leave she couldn't help but sigh softly to herself, then a touch of her cheek as she looked up feeling him brush a strand of her hair away and tucking it behind her ear making her blush more.
Oh god did she have to hear that De' Rossi misses her? But what made her really stop and hear was he... He misses her too? Closing her eyes she sighed and nodded.
"Ok... Ok. I'll come back. Just- You better keep your promise." she whispered not wanting to admit it but she was enjoying his touch and if she did leave she would have missed it terribly. Shaking her head she looked up at him and nodded. "Lets go back and get some rest.

Adeney couldn't find words to tell her how grateful he was. Instead, he pressed her tightly to his chest in a tight embrace. Even with the clanging of his blundering companion outside of the room, he was overwrought with elation. "I missed you so badly, Alexandria," he muttered, nose buried in her red hair before he let her go. "Let's go, then, mio caro*."
"I think I'll tag along then! I haven't seen De' Rossi in a few weeks. It's been too long." Leonardo cheerfully nominated himself to join them. "He and I need to talk to each other more. It seems I don't hear from him enough anymore. I can scarcely remember the last time we went out to dine at a restaurant. I've missed him... Adeney, where's your bow? The last I'd seen, you were carrying a full quiver and a bow, and you were quite the archer! And where's the Mercerio fellow? Did he take it back or something? You shouldn't lose your skill at archery! You were rather talented, if I may say so myself..."
Adeney shook his head in amusement as the young man continued to ramble to himself. He smiled and mouthed the word 'chatterbox' to Alexandria as he absentmindedly followed them out the door, still talking with a cup of tea in his hand and an over-cluttered knapsack in the other.
. . .
"Alexandria, dear! I see this fool has gone and actually retrieved you! He's lucky I'm too old to run after him and give him a beating, because I've had my mind set on killing the idiota**. Tu, Adeney, sono un tizio stupido!*** Now, come here, my darling!" De' Rossi had a relieved grin on his face as he patted the girl's head. "Don't listen to that arse, my girl."
Adeney smiled nervously as he tilted his head in apology. "I'm sorry, Mentore. I hope you'll forgive me now that you have her here."
His mentor shushed him with a nonchalant wave of his bony hand and outstretched his arms to the young man next to him. "And you, Leonardo! It's been far too long! My boy, how have you been doing?"
Leonardo smiled pleasantly and gleefully accepted the embrace. "Rossi, how I've missed you! I've been fine, thank you. I recently tried doing a portrait of you, but I've realized I haven't seen you in so long I scarcely remembered how you looked!" He laughed at the slight joke, and opened his cluttered knapsack to retrieve something for his older friend. "I saved you a batch of what I bought from the most recent shipment of exotic goods! Perhaps you could treat me to a proper meal every once in a while, eh Rossi? I'm starving over there! To think you left me there all by myself, expecting me to feed myself. I can scarcely swallow the charred remains of what I call 'my meal', old chump!"
De Rossi took the teasing lightly, patting the young artisan's arm as he laughed. "Lord, you're still as chatty as ever! I reckon we'll have a great conversation over our next meal at--"
"Mentore De' Rossi!" A sudden, breathless Irish accent interrupted the old man mid-sentence. "Pardon me, sir, but it's urgent!"
They all turned to look at the sudden voice. De Rossi raised an eyebrow inquisitively at a fidgety Cillian, wordlessly compelling him to continue.
"Dear Mentore, it's our ally! The thief's organization? It seems one of their more professional thieves was somehow caught during a planned heist of theirs and they're desperately requesting for us to stop the execution. They're very skilled at their jobs, I assume, but it's not in their department to show up in public and stop something like that." It was hard to understand Cillian's rushed, mixed up words but they politely waited for him to finish. "I remember him in particular, actually! He helped rob a competing merchant blind to aid one of our own confederate merchants. It helped the merchant's business immensely too."
De Rossi was silent for a moment, thinking quietly about his decision. Finally, he sighed, and turned to them. "I know you're all not quite in the best condition for such a sudden assignment but... I need you to help Cillian interrupt this execution. Forgive me, for these aren't the best circumstances, but it's necessary. I'm sorry at the rudeness, Leo, my friend, but you wouldn't mind helping an old partner out? Perhaps fighting isn't your focal point, but you and the rest make sure to defend Alexandria as best as you can. I don't want her gone as soon as she came back."
Although they didn't quite know it, his words were mingled with irony as they left through the door.
. . .
Adeney and the two other young men were dressed in hooded cloaks that concealed their faces. All four of them hurried, trying not to rush too fast and give themselves away, but still fast enough to make sure the thief did not die. If they didn't get there in time, they would lose a valuable asset to their mafia and that was an unacceptable prospect.

Mio caro*: My dear.
Idiota**: Another word for dumbass.
Tu, Adeney, sono un tizio stupido.***: You, Adeney, are a stupid bloke.

Merda!
They had been close, so close. While Adeney and Sher dashed through the roof tops to keep the archers and guards out of sight from the group below. She was poised, ready, her breathing had slowed in anticipation and her mind was focused on the plan-- until it happened. She saw the blur out of the corner of her eye, and when She realized which direction the figure was running it, her reflexes kicked in. The figure chased her across rooftops, She didn't know if She had been noticed, nor did she care. Catching up, her feet landed with precision and firmness and as she ran, she reached onto her belt for a knife. The smoothness of the hilt still felt natural in her hands and as she pulled hers arm back to fire a warning, she felt something shift beneath her and suddenly she was no longer running, not even thinking she reached for anything She could grab onto; but her hands faltered, and the knife nicked her cheek as it fell alongside her.
What she landed in was soft, and yellow. Hay. She took a moment to breathe and flex hers fingers, two of which were badly bruised from where She had tried to grab onto the building. She sighed and then pulled herself up coming face to face with a cow. The cow stopped munching, and looked at her with a blank stare. Alexandria laughed, as she couldn't help doing so and reached out to pat the cow on the nose. Certainly things like this didn't happen everyday.
Commotion broke out nearby, and Alexandria leaped out of the wagon, climbing back up nearby scaffolding as fast as She could. Walking to the other side of the roof, She peered over. Guards were running out all over the place, yelling and shouting, giving directions. Was it from Adeney?
Immediately, her senses warned her, something was wrong, She needed to leave. Still, She needed to make sure. Praying to herself that Adeney was going to be ok she started to climb the building towards the shouting wanting to get to Adeney before his side was too badly for them to patch up. Just as She was about to pick it up- She felt a sharp tip against her neck. "Get down Assassin."
"On whose orders?" She growled before she was yanked down and thrown to the ground, using more than five guys to get her tied up and manhandled to be kneeling on the ground and her head forced to look up. But for who?

A D E N E Y,x L I E F.

By the time they had reached the enormous crowd, Cillian had already unsheathed his rapier. It seemed a large crowd had gathered by that time, and many of them were shouting numerous things in Italian, not paying the armed pair any mind. The center of their attention was the bound man standing on the wooden platform. Although facing the circumstances of possible death, his face remained austere, confronting the fact that he may lose his life within the next few moments with a dignified sort of solemnity. All the thieves within their organization were mentally prepared for such an occurrence, be it that the mafia couldn't aid them. However, they did insist that the mafia not let them lose a member of their team if such a thing was avoidable, and the family complied. Both groups were important to each other, not just in the similarity of their work but in their business. Cillian himself had been a part of them for a bit when he'd arrived to Rome for the first time, and then he'd been directed into the mafia. It was no wonder it'd been so urgent for him that one of his brethren was to be killed in plain sight.
"... And so, fellow citizens, do we sentence the young thief, Lorenzo Russi, to be beheaded upon this day for the offenses of thievery in the forms of: burglary, larceny, looting of our shipments, robbery, mass heists, and fraud. As a long-term fugitive, this man is to be stripped away of the privilege of a court hearing, and thus is terminated of his right to plead against such offenses. With this, the city shall witness the beheading of the criminal. Does the offender have any last words?"
"Actually, we do." Adeney hopped onto the platform in a swift motion that brought him inches away from the executioner, smiling pleasantly at him in an ironic gesture of the present scene. Cillian followed promptly, taking his place next to the convict. "I'm sure you're not very happy at our demands, but we're taking this man regardless of your resistance. I'm sorry, but we can't allow this execution to happen, sir."
A few gasps were all that could be heard from the now hushed crowd. The guards immediately drew their weapons, and the executioner sighed, as if Adeney as if he was a pesky occurrence that routinely interrupted his executions in such a fashion. "Boy, you've made quite a mistake. Guards? Arrest them. We'll see to it they see a fate similar to the thief here."
With a last smile, he dodged the swing of a guard equipped with a small sword and swiftly proceeded to stab his dagger into said guard's chest before the man had the chance to regain his balance and attempt to swing at him again. Enraged, the guard next to him sprinted at him but took a similar blow to his own chest mere paces away from Adeney. At this, the gasps from the crowd turned into excited shouts, and, in the midst of the chaos, the young man wiped the guard's blood on his arm onto his cloak and turned briskly to the Irishman feverishly working to cut through the knots on the rope. It seemed their backup had not arrived as they'd planned, so he was forced to improvise upon the alarming scenario. "Listen, Cillian, you have no time for that! Throw him over your shoulder and run!"
Before the riled group of guards could take down Cillian at hearing his orders, Adeney skidded in front of them, a dagger in each hand, even despite the fact he knew he was well outnumbered. It'd occurred to him that he'd probably die within the next few moments, but he'd made his decision.
As if on cue, the guard in front of him abruptly yelped and crumpled in a heap on the floor. A similar fate betook the two partners beside him, seconds after. Adeney was stunned, but he took advantage of the moment, slicing through yet another guard and shoving the bleeding body offstage so that he could maneuver more easily to the next guard. The whole thing lasted about thirty seconds. Not wasting any more time, the young man, although incredibly tired, took a running start to climb up the nearest wall and commence running on the rooftop, only to be joined by a breathless Leonardo.
"I'm sorry I'm late, brother! I showed up as soon as I could. My, it's been long since I've used my knives. I was afraid I'd lost practice, but De' Rossi taught me well." Adeney nodded, more focused on readying himself to hurdle the next gap in between rooftops but Leonardo's hand stopped him abruptly. "Adeney, why I was late... I can't find Alexandria. All I found was her weapon, and cape. I think something happened to her, brother."
The words rang in Adeney's ears. He instantly knew. It must have been Doel. There was no reason for the Russi thief to have been caught so easily. He was one of their best. To have been interrupted during something so easy for one the thief's kind was ridiculous, and couldn't have been the work of a gaurd, much less a civilian. It had to have been a trained individual, and Doel's last threat of returning fit in perfectly with the situation.
"Doel..." Adeney immediately paled. Voice almost a whisper, he horsely managed to say, "Leonardo, follow me. We need to leave. Now."
He slid down the wall, a little clumsily in his nervousness, but managed to stop in front of a stable. Without explanation, Leonardo opened the stall next to Adeney's and led out a horse as well. At the commotion, the stable boy ran out, a pitchfork of straw in one hand, shouting for them to stop, but by the then they were already speeding down to Leonardo's house, digging their heels into the sides of the horse.

"Well, well, my dear. You're as lovely as you were last I saw you, la mia donna graziosa giovane*. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to cut off your pretty red locks because I don't want that pesk Adeney to bother us now that we're barely getting acquainted, now do I?" Doel smiled as he forced the gagged redhead against his chest in order to ride the black mare more easily. "But it's just a precaution. I don't think my old brother has a chance of catching up, so you're with me now."
. . .
La mia donna graziosa giovane*: My pretty little young lady.
