History Begins

There is no real way to saw where the Unrest began, though the fact that it happened at all was not all that surprising. Through out this friendships had been forged and broken among the kingdoms over how best they thought to rule the people. Wars had been fought, borders established, just to be reestablished in yet another war. The last war had been over five decades ago and a peace had washed over the many races that inhabited the world. Still, nothing can last forever and thus the Unrest is born. Farmers' started muttering about unease at their lot in life as they tried to will the land to yield life on the outer edges of the Alter. The many complaints of rich merchants and politicians as more country peasants fail into the inner cities of the Alter. As the unrest grew from quit murmurings to an out protest in the span of a few short months, out racism came back with a vengeance. In the time of peace the number of different species and races in the Alter grew. It had been an effort by the United Kingdoms to forge new bonds, and repair old ones, that a previous wars had torn apart. Now those bonds that so carefully been patched together were being shredded by the wave of unrest sweeping the Alter. As mention earlier, there is no real way of knowing where the Unrest began, but it came to a head in the city of Dimaia. Dimaia was a port city located along one of the trade routes, and was the last spot to refuel before crossing Bracker's Sea. Here, where life and death depended on the fickle nature of the sea, the people still worshiped the ancient gods. Here the upper class had it easy, they became rich by the labor put in by the poor who found life so very hard. If one died he/she was quickly replace by one of the many hundreds looking for a job. a storm blew the city one day, several died, and when it left the Unrest had grown such deep roots that nothing could seem to uprooted. From this city two Factions formed. Two different ideals with the same ultimate end goal: a new way of life. They just didn't see eye to eye on how this new life should be accomplished. The two Factions grew, spreading out the city, becoming two separate movements, to separate stormy seas. Before anyone really even knew what was happening the tides of war had crashed down upon the Alter. The factions were not split by species, but by beliefs. On the battlefields it was not uncommon for brothers to fight one another, or friends turned enemy to slay the other. People were willing to fight and die for their Factions, for their new way of life.

One can not help but wonder how hard these soldiers, these martyrs of their cause, would of fought if they had known the truth of it all. If they had known that they were just the play things of gods. The Unrest was a natural cause, something that had been brought to life all on its own, but it would not of grown so big so quickly by natural causes. No, the Unrest matured into the rage adult it was through the means of beings who some forgot walked the world at all. Amaterasu, Shinto Goddess of the Sun, started this war to strike out against her brother Susanoo, Shinto God of sea and storm. Susanoo could hold his own for a while but he knew that in the long run he would falter so he enlisted the help of his brother Tsukuyomi, the Moon God. Perhaps this fit of sibling rivalry would of blown over like all the other times, if not for the death of Uke Mochi, Shinto Goddess of Food and long standing friend of Amaterasu. What had been a private affair between Gods now spilled out into the human world, sweeping the unsuspecting mortals up into the fray, as well as few other gods. Tsukuyomi and Susanoo were joined by Izanami, Ryūjin, Chuang-Mu, and Hsuan-T'ien-Shang-Ti, and many many more. Amaterasu was joined by Raijin, Izanagi, Suijin, Omoikane, Fūjin, Ch'in-Shu-Pao, Feng-Po-Po, and Hou-Chi. Several other gods used the war to cover up their own actions as there was no one to keep them in check. Humans and other mortal species, and a few immortals as well, were used as pawns on a chess board. Lost lives meant very little to the Beings caught up in this childish power play. Nor did they even seem to notice that they were upsetting the very balance of nature. Other Gods/Goddess did notice but they could not actively get in the middle of the this war. Amaterasu and her brothers had seen to it that no other God/Goddess would be able to stop this war. So it was that a few of the Guardians of Nature turned to other methods. They may not be able to interfere but that did not mean they couldn't use a lesser being to do their biding for them. Demi-Gods and other beings of such power could be found if one knew where to look. Since deceitful lies, or 'chance', could place the beings where they needed them to be.

How will the war end? Will Nature's Balance be restored? We'll see....

More will be added as role play goes on.

۩ζay of the ζand۩

the Alter

The Alter is a ring of lush, fertile land situated directly in the center of the largest continent the world has. While the other two continents have similar areas none are as massive as the Alter. There are a wide variety of different land types with in the Alter, from jungles and woods, to desert oasis and mountainous cliff regions. For those living closer to the center/capitol life is easy indeed. Ringing the Alter on three sides are mountains of differing heights and home to dragons, some friendly and others not. On the Eastern edge of the Alter is a sea of swamp lands that many will find it hard to live in. Many rivers, streams, and creeks snake their way through out the Alter and empty into lakes or continue on to join the seas outside the Alter. All the Realms outside of the Alter are still ruled over by the Capitol. (Pics: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

East of Alter

To the East of Alter is a massive swamp that eventually meets up with Bracker's Sea. Dangerous creatures calls this dark and foreboding place their home, and will pray upon the unlucky. People have still been able to live in this place, though the shun much of the modern technology and delve into dark magic a lot. The closer to the Sea you get the more dry and firm the land becomes, but the water is brackish and undrinkable. Clean water can be found, but only if you know where to look. The settlements close to the Sea accept technology though are still about ten years behind the Alter. The largest city is Dimaia. (Pics: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

West of Alter

To the West of the Alter the mountain extend into dry and arid lands, savannas, and eventually a desert. Three major rivers run through these lands but are dry for a few months out of the year. This is one of the more livable regions outside the Alter. Technology is accepted wholeheartedly right along side with magic, though the magic still has strong ties here as does Gods/Goddess worshiping. (Pic: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

North of Alter

The Norther mountains extend onto frozen wastelands, tundras, and massive glaciers. Arctic winds constantly blew across lands, even during the one month long spring. This is a hard and bitter land. The Snow Pixies, Ice Fairies, and Dark Elves that lodge in the Ice Palace are an even harder and bitterer lot than the land they live on. (Pic: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

South of Alter

To the South life use to be as grand as it was inside the Alter. There was plenty of fresh water, fertile ground to farm, forest that offer lumber, technology and magic balanced each other other. Then, like now, war ravaged the land. Cities burned and whole species where erased all together, while others found themselves down to their last few members. That war happened near a century ago, nature has begun to reclaim what was rightfully hers, but the land still remains unlivable for most. New technology and ancient magic has left the land toxic for years to come. Only bandits, outlaws, treasure hunters, and bounty hunters venture into it. (Pics: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

۩Єxtra۩

Technology

Technology is advanced in the Alter. Not to the extent of laser-firing guns of doom, but healthcare is superb. Broken limbs can be healed within a week, maybe two if it's major. Small scratches can be healed instantly, though major wounds will still take a few days at best. Limbs still can not be regrown, once lost they are lost for good, but there are machines that can help repair the damage and save the limb if they are gotten to a health care facility quickly enough. Flying ships and hover boards are common enough.

Magic

There are many different kinds of magic in the Alter, much more than I have time to list. As technology advances Magic begins to lose some it usefulness, while other skills are so rare the individuals will be hunted down and force to use their powers.

Species

There is a huge variety of creatures in the Alter, far too many to list. As such, practically any species you can think of will probably exist here. Humans do make up a high percentage of the population though. Phoenixes, Dragon-kin/like creatures, and demi-gods with abilities are some of the rarer seen.

The Unrest has been an ongoing problem for close to two years and the war was three months away from its first year anniversary. It had been going on far longer than anyone would of thought, so many lives had been lost on both sides, and still yet more will have to be lost. Neither side was willing to give an inch, not matter the price either side had to pay, or who had to pay that price. Currently a good size portion of the Order army is camped out in the city of Lachlan, which had just suffered a major attack a few days ago. Lachlan is a city on the backs of a river, practically near the edge of the waterfall, and is mostly known for their fishing industry. The attack on Lachlan was a massive blow to the Order, not for its military causalities but because of the civilian causalities instead. The Order sent a small portion of their Medical Corps to help with the injured, as well as pulling doctors from the surrounding country side.

An attack had ransacked a rural town under the Orders control. That was the communication Myra received from some of the Order’s medical unit. Apparently most of the people injured had been civilians so the Order generals didn’t want to risk sending their specialized doctors out to such a rural area that had already been attack once and in its weakened state could easily be attacked again. ‘I know you wish to stay out of the politics of either side. This resistance of yours will prove to be useful in this situation however. The Order is calling in small town doctors from the area to help the wounded and your skills would be a large asset for them.’ One of the head doctors had sent Myra not long after the distress signal had been sent out. She had worked together with both the order and freedom factions on many occasions and was usually called in when the situation did not seem important enough for the factions to send in their official medical teams. This duel work had created a highly credible reputation in the medical world for Myra and she enjoyed it. Happy to be able to do the thing she enjoyed most, which was heal the sick and wounded, with out to much interference from either side of this pointless war.

That communication had arrived four days ago in the early morning and thanks to Myra’s life style of moving from battle field to battle field she had arrived at the wrecked town by the end of the first day. She had no official home, maybe she did once long ago but Myra had long forgotten by now. She was a free spirit and travel proved to be the best way to contain the ancient creature inside the human skin. No matter how many years Myra spent enclosed in her magical human form she longed to be in the air, flying free and she didn’t see that changing at any point in the near future. Thankfully due to the technology of this time it made traveling easy. Personal and medical effects could be stored in an easily carried bag that had a suspended animation compartment and the traveling time was cut down greatly by the ships. In that less than twenty four hour period that it had taken Myra to arrive at the scene, a well set up medical system had not been in place yet. This enraged the fire creature. Setting up her own place of sleep had been put off as the first twenty-four hours were the most important for patients that were currently suffering from shock as well as some mortally fatal wounds.

It had taken some time for anyone to listen to Myra though, her appeared at this current time was hindering her work. At the moment Myra was caught in a childs form, her cycle had begun not too long ago. It took her some time to find the leader of this escapade and get her story checked out with headquarters. Even though she was granted clearance and supposable was appointed one of the temporary head doctors until everyone was either completely or close to being healed her child form still did not give her the respect that was required. The cover story she had for the Order regiment was that she was an elf that had been genetically mutated during the ancient war to undertake the human lifespan. Every year she would start as a child and grow into an old woman which ultimately lead to death only to revive back in the form of a child. This was not true, she was an ancient phoenix that had to choose to hide from the Order in fear of the phoenix hunts that had nearly destroyed her whole kind. If the Order was to ever find out her true species she feared that she would be locked up and bled dry. The healing touch of a phoenix was amazing, but the healing powers of her blood and tears were more important to people it would seem.

Myra had spent the last few days scolding the sorry excuse of doctors that the rural area offered. She couldn’t blame them for the apparent lack of skills they had as they were working to the best of their ability but it still put Myra on edge. She hated to watch patients suffer unnecessarily because a doctor was going about treatment in an out of date way. Did they not realize that medical advancements were happening constantly and if they wanted to be any good they must always be learning and relearning these new technics? This was probably one of the more stressful situations Myra had been in a while between the unsatisfactory doctors, the sheer amount of wounded and the lack of sleep that was required to make sure no one died that could be saved. The lack of sleep was getting to Myra the most, she had been up for almost two days and could feel the magic that she used to keep her human form wearing thin. Sleep was important to the phoenixes magic, it allowed her magic to concrete itself into her ever changing human form. With the lack of sleep she felt out of balance and very unstable.

Finally by the end of the third day Myra allowed herself to sleep. The medical tents were now running somewhat smoothly and most of the wounded civilians were out of the woods and now just needed to finish healing. She made her way back to her tent that she had gotten one of the soldiers to set up for her since she had been so busy, she had even gotten the poor soldier to unpack for her. She sighed as she looked at the inside of the tent. Everything was out and in a chaotic spread around the small tent. “Never again let someone unpack for you.” Myra told herself as she started laying her pillows out in a circle. She could just see the confused face as the soldier had taken out such a shear amount of pillows and blankets but no type of bed. Myra had never grown used to sleeping in a bed, she much preferred a nest and the closest and most human version of that was just a large pile of blankets and pillows. Before sleep over came the child figure Myra looked into a mirror she always had with her and sighed. The magic appeared to be shimmering in some places as it had been weakened. “I must sleep.” Myra told herself as she climbed into her nest and let sleep take over her tired body.

The sleep wasn’t restful, her mind was off in a dreamland of the last war and what had happened afterwards. So much death and blood shed had destroyed her homeland in the south. The humans and other races hunted her and her kind down like a wild bore. The phoenix clan had chosen to split up as their numbers where dwindling and since that day Myra had seen no other of her kind. There had been the occasional whisper of a rumor but Myra was always too afraid to check it out in fear of it being a trap. After years spent in hiding, trying to trust some humans, even falling in love with a few only to watch them die the sheer loneliness started to consume the phoenix. In an act of desperation Myra had found her way into the gods realm. She spent many years there, able to change between her true form and human without worry. The time spent with the gods was like a drunken haze for Myra, it had been a wonderful and enchanting time but all good things must come to an end and Myra found her way back to the humans. Things had been peaceful but soon came into unrest again as another war broke out. This time Myra told herself that she was not going to run and hide. She had control over her magic and could easily disguise herself. She did not want to see death again.

The morning of the fourth day Myra woke to what should have been the sun rising but the cloud cover unfortunately. Getting out of her tent she felt a warm breeze cover her body but even in her sheer white dress the wind did not affect her. Fire burned in Myra’s heart so the cold would rarely affect the phoenix girl. She went and checked on the patients, praying that the other doctors hadn’t ended up killing an unlucky victim while she got her much needed sleep. When she entered the medical tent everything appeared to be how it was when she went to bed. Patients were lying in bed, volunteer nurses were keeping them company while the sparsely spread doctors were checking on the patients that needed their attention more. Myra started checking the patients, spending time to talk with each one. Over her many years of medical training she had learned that you can’t just treat the body, you must also treat the wounded soul inside.

As the morning passed things seemed to stay calm but suddenly everything was disrupted. A strangled cry and a crash of a table caused everyone to turn towards the patient in question. One of the older doctors was standing next to the flaying patient. Foam was forming at the patients mouth as his eyes rolled back into his head. “Help me hold him down.” Myra commanded the other doctors as she rushed over. She had a couple doctors holding down the mans arms and legs while she quickly tried to administer an anti-reaction drug as this appeared to be a reaction to an overdose but it was too late, the patient was gone. His body slumped as life left it and Myra quickly turned her attention to the doctor that had been incharge of the patient. “What did you give him?” The child was glaring up at the doctor but tears were welling up in her eyes. “I…I just…” The doctor was tongue tide “Pain medication” He finally got out and Myra closed her to stop the tears from pouring out. Some type of miscommunication had happened. “He had received his dose already.” Myra hissed out, as much as she enjoyed the advances in medicine they held great risks. A double dose of such a strong pain medication would result in seizures but in such a weakened state his body apparently couldn’t handle the stress caused from the mistake. “Get out.” Myra said as she opened her eyes again to see a confused look on the doctors face. “I said get you! You are not allowed back in my medical tent!” Her voice raised as she yelled at the doctor who for his own good scurried out of the medical tent.

The tent went silent as Myra stood there trying to control the tears that were threatening to pour out of her eyes. Human children cried way to easily and it annoyed the phoenix, tears were such a powerful thing to her kind as they could raise the dead. Myra was tempted to let a tear fall just so she could bring back the pour soul that had just died from a simple mistake but that would destroy her cover and fear for her freedom stopped her. “Um excuse me Doctor Myra.” A voice broke the silence and Myra’s head snapped to the woman standing near the door of the tent. “What!” Myra growled out to the woman who flinched slightly at the harsh tone from the little girl. “You are to go to a meeting with the leader.” Myra took a deep breath and nodded. She left the tent without a word, leaving the rest of the medical team to deal with the dead body. As she walked towards the meeting Myra kept her head down her eyes were still watering and she prayed that no tear would fall. Walking while not looking where she was going proved to be hazardous for her health as she ran into an adult man. “I’m sorry.” Myra mumbled to the tall figure in front of her.

"Why are we even bothering to go out this far?" Xanlu complained as the transport vehicle hit yet another bump on what was suppose to be a country road, though even by country standards this thin track of dirt could hardly be called a road. "You know why." Commander Svein Achterhof sighed from where he laid, taking up three of the empty seats. His hat was placed over his face as he tried to get some much needed rest, but like the other five members of his crew he was finding it impossible between the constant rocking and bumping of the vehicle, and the grating sound of Xanlu's whining. "This far out all you'll find are hedge witches, which is what you're friends have been bringing back for the last day. You guys found the last great doctors in these parts the day you plucked me from my humble village." Svein drowned out the man's listing of his many accomplishments as best he could, all six members of this little collection crew having heard it several times in the last 48 hours. Xanlu was, by a certain stretch of the mitigation, a doctor. In the village they had found him he had been the main source of health care for years and the people had almost worshiped him, something that had clearly gone to the man's head. When he heard that the Order was drafting doctors to help in Lachlan, after the city's devastating pounding from the Freedom Faction, he had been quick to offer up his skills. That had been three days ago. Every time he had opened his mouth in the last three days was to either complain about the unfairness they were showing him but forcing him to ride in a ground vehicle, to be dragged around these dirty country roads like cattle, and a host of other things Svein had long since started to ignore. Other than that all had seemed capable of doing was coming on, rather long windily, about himself. He never ran short of praises for himself. It was getting to the point where Svein was debating with or not to put a bullet in this person's head now and face the consequences for it when he got back to the city. "I'm telling you that you ain't gonna find any doctors out this way. It would just save you trouble to turn back now."

"Xanlu, if you do not SHUT UP." Svein snapped, hand dropping to the fire arm strapped to his waist. "Easy there, Boss. We're all just a little tired." Brick muttered from where he was laying on another seat, glancing at his commander. "But, you know he has a point. We've been at it for three days and so far he is the last doctor of any kind of skill that we've come up with. Perhaps it is time we've turned around." Svein sighed and sat at, looking out the rear of the vehicle. Night had fallen three hours ago but at Svein's orders they had continued on anyway. He was well aware that they should of turned back by now, that they had actually gone outside their search radius by close to hundred miles, but he still had this foolish hope that they would find something better. No, not so much a hope as a gut instinct. The seamlessly ageless elf scratched the tip of a pointy ear before giving up a sigh of defeat. "We need to stop for the night anyway. Brick's inform the driver." Svein looked back out the truck, a frown marring a usually handsome face. His gut instinct told him that Xanlu was not the last doctor out here, and it was also telling him that he was going to wish they had turned back yesterday. "Something is not right, I feel it." Banko muttered, following Svein's gaze outside. Like Svein, Banko was from a race more in tuned to nature than humans. They could both feel it, something or someone was waiting for them. "I'll take 2nd watch, you first." Banko simply nodded. In times of war you could not afford to take chances.

It happened just as Banko started to wake Svein for the second watch. There was no lightening as a warning sign, there wasn't even a cloud in the sky. The stars were shining bright and clear in the country's sky. Svein blinked his eyes and looked up at them, the balls of gas clearer to his eyes than they would be to a humans. Then he saw nothing at all as sand, dirt, and debris from the nearby field rose up around the soldiers. If anyone cried out it was impossible to hear over the loud, rumbling boom of thunder as it washed over them in waves. The sheer strength of the sound itself had Svein pinned to the ground while Banko went flying backwards off his feet, landing not by the fire but in it. The pixies mouth opened in a scream as he tried to roll of it, but like Svein, once he was on the ground he could not pull himself out of his current position. There was a thudding impact upon the ground and Svein managed to look up in time to see the truck being blown on its side. Svien strained against this thunderous noise that had them pinned down, he had to get up! There had been people in that truck! A rock dislodged from the earth nearby suddenly took to the air and bashed against the side of Svien's hair. Red blood flowed over the elf's silver-blue hair as he struggled to keep his eyes open, but eventually his head dropped down against the ground.

"...Omman.." A delicate had flew up to the source of pounding in Svein's head, his hand coming away sticky. Slowly he opened his eyes, trying to push past the ringing in his years to hear the words being said. "Commander?" Brick loomed over him, a look of concern on his second-in-commands voice. Ignoring Brick's warnings Svein pushed himself into a sitting position, holding his head and he took quick glances around what had been their camp. Very little remained. "Give me a report, Brick." He order, getting straight to business. "Banko is badly burned. We had to knock him out to stop him from screaming. One of the drivers has a broken leg and a few fractured ribs. Still no idea what cause this." Svein nodded, showing that he taken it all in. Sitting nearby Xanlu was being oddly silent and staring straight ahead. The Commander flicked his eyes at him, indicating he wanted to know what was up with their usually chatty doctor. "Oh that on is really ******** up." Brick did not bother to keep his voice down or the anger from his face, in fact he glared at the doctor the whole time he talked. "This little a*****e neglected to inform us that he only has experience with human patients, which is great for me, Davidson, and Micahala. Unfortunately it was a pixie and two elves that sustained injuries." Sometimes it was rather difficult to remember that Brick was a human, he was tall for one (close to seven feet almost) and he had the strength of a giant. He was usually a rather gentle individual though, till his friends were hurt or he had to fight in a battle. "So, he is useless to us right now?" Brick nodded in conformation and Svein sighed. Luckily one of his skilled sets involved quick thinking on his feet. "We'll follow the road. Hopefully it will lead to a house or something nearby, someone has to farm these fields after all. I want Michala and or other drive to stay here with Xanlu. Brick you care the injured driver, I will take Banko. Davidson will scout a head. By the way, who was the second elf injured." He had wondered about it since he had heard it. Counting him there were only two elves on this expedition. His question and confusion earned an amused laugh from Brick. "You are, Sir. That was a pretty hard knocked to the head you took." A small smile crossed Svein's face. Even when injured he forgot to count himself as one of the injured.

They had left their camp around early morning and they did not spot another soul till almost noon. What appeared to be a human was squatting in the fields, studying a corn stalk that had been assault by raccoon the night before. Upon seeing them he stood up and started towards him, raising his hands up to show he was unarmed as Davidson raised her gun. "I don't have time for pleasantries." Svein began, fighting back the increasing pain in his head. "All we want to know where the nearest town is, or at best a farm house." There was something about this farmer that didn't right, another pang in Svein's gut telling him to pay attention. The man's hair was of medium length, untied and left to blow about int he slight breeze. It was also unwashed and greasy. He wore a short sleeve shirt over jeans, no shoes, all of him dirty. He could easily passed as a simple poor farmer, but his eyes were not those of a human farmer. The deep brown orbs held an ancientness that one did not often associate with humans, and they sparkled with intelligence. "There is a decent sized town about two hours from here. If it is a doctor you are after then that is the place to go. There is a small arena there. I hear the doctor both mends the fighters as well as fights them him self at times. The stranger started down the road, beckoning them to follow with his finger. Svein nodded to Davidson to follow him. The elf's gut was telling him to trust this stranger.

Lei Li-Fan laid on the floor of his office with eyes closed, a white dog slumbering beside him. The pillow under his head smelled faintly of medicinal herbs, the kind to help with sleep, but this time around they were having no affect on the thirty-one years old mind. Sighing he opened his eyes and looked up at the ceiling. "Mavu, I know what I felt." He said softly to the dog who kept on slumbering. He had felt the energy signal last night, though it was distance. He knew that energy signal anywhere. "Why is Lei Kung in these parts after so many years?" That was the question that had been eating at his mind since the night before when a massive surge of energy out in the fields had awake him from a dead sleep. The sound of hurried feet brought his attention to the door just as it sled open, a boy of ten looking at him anxiously. "Quick...your mother....soldiers...help." it was an incoherent mess as the boy tried to talk while panting for breath. All the same Li-Fan was on his feet in an instant and was heading out the door.

                                                        --Time Skip 1 day--

"You are to meet with the Leader of Operations as well as one of the head doctors that shall be evaluating your skills. They will try you out in the Medical Corps for a few weeks to a few months before moving on to test you with the Defense Corp." Svein said as he escorted the newest member of the Order through the town of Lachlan. Li-Fan followed silently along, his face set in a serious and emotionless mask as he listened to elf. He did not want to be here, in this town, or in the Order. He simply wanted to be at his country home where he was needed, but...He was also needed here. The bombardment of Lachlan had been big news through out the countryside and Li-Fan had heard different retelling as, but each one always mentioned the number of civilians causalities. Several had died already and more would continue to do so without skilled doctors to help. "Please do not expect more of me than I can deliver. I am a doctor more than I am a fighter and in either fields my skills are not as great as others. Li-Fan told his companion. From what he had seen back at the village Svein knew that Li-Fan was underestimating himself. While there were certainly those that were more skilled than him he would be hard pressed to find such a person in this city full of hedge witched who think themselves doctors. Stopping right there in the middle of aisle of tents Svein sun around and placed his hands on Li-Fan's shoulder's and looked the man in the eyes. "I owe you the life of Banko. I have been fighting in wars for years and I know a deadly burn wound when I see one." Banko was one of the elf's best friends and he had thought that the pixie would surly die. Instead he was saved by a doctor that had skill greater than the area around him needed. He had learned very little about Lei Li-Fan besides the fact that he had spent years training in different fields in different places around the Alter, and that he was what was known as an electromaster. His body could generate massive amounts of electricity that he could redirect at will. It was actually unheard of in humans thus far, so for one to pop up with it had peeked the Order's interest. Also for a man of thirty-one Li-Fan did not look like he should be out of his mid-twenties. This was not completely unusual but Svein felt it was somehow apart of the mystery that was Lei Li-Fan.

They were about to set out again when a communication could be heard from a tent nearby. The symbol on the side marked it as one of the medical tents. Yelling could be heard and a short time later an older doctor came scurrying out of the tent, clearly frightened and upset over something. A frown crossed over Li-Fan's lips. Long legs carried him away from Svein and towards the doctor who was now just standing out in the open looking close to tears. "Sir, are you alright?" Li-Fan asked gently as he approached, placing a comforting hand on the man's shoulder. "I didn't mean to kill him." The man said as he choked back a sob. "I didn't know he had already had his medication, no one told me." Li-Fan had heard enough to get the general idea of what had happen. "How long ago was this?" He asked, shaking the older man slightly. "Maybe two, three minutes ago." There was still time...Something bumped into his leg and he looked down to see a child looking up at him with eyes full of unshed tears. Normally he would of stopped to see what was the matter but instead he brushed past her, dragging the older doctor with her. "Take me to him." Was all he said to the doctor who muttered something about not being allowed back into the tent, but Li-Fan ignored that too. As it was he already knew what tent to enter anyway. "Doctor Lei!" called out as he watched Li-Fan heading in the opposite direction of where the meeting was suppose to be happening. The elf's green eyes widen as he laid widen as he laid eyes on Myra, a curse flying from his mouth in his native tongue. "Doctor Lei, Please wait...LI-FAN COME BACK!" The elf called again as the doctor walked into the tent. "Oh gods, she is gonna kill him."

Li-Fan walked into the medical tent, immediately letting go of his grip on the older doctor and walking over to the bed where other doctors were preparing to move the dead body. He placed a hand on the dead's man chest, feeling the heat that it still held, and more important the energy that still crackled around inside his head. The brain was the last thing to die. "Was he given an anti-reaction shot?" Not bothering to introduce himself as he looked up at the other doctors. He waited for an answer before giving out his next orders. "I need an adrenaline pin and everyone back away from the table." He glanced up when no one move, blue eyes flashing coldly. "There is only a small window of time to restart a heart." He explained. Finally someone got him the needle full of adrenaline he wanted. Placing his right hand on the dead man's chest, Li-Fan concentrated, building the energy of his own body up, then releasing it into the person under his hand. He could feel the electricity jolt the heard, trying to shock it back into beating, but discharge had not been strong enough. Li-Fan increased the charge, a small line of electricity jumping from one finger to the next before traveling into the dead man. For a second nothing..then the heart gave a thud. Li-Fan sent out a lesser charge, keeping the heart beating till it was holding its own, then he took the adrenaline pin and injected the chemical into the man. It would help his heart beat stronger, but it would still be touch and go. "You're going to need to keep a constant eye on him over the next few hours, and I would suggest using whatever form of life support you have. He told the nearest nurse. Then he turned to the older doctor he had dragged in with him. "While I understand that there was a miscommunications, if you were unsure why did you not ask someone first if the patient had been given his medicine already?" Looking over the heads of the people around him till he spotted Svein standing by the entrance to the tent. "I do not think this man is use to this kind of environment, is there not somewhere else his skills could be needed?" He walked towards the elf as he spoke. "I'm sorry that I have made us later to the meeting." He apologized. "At this rate you'll be dead before we get to the meeting." Li-Fan gave the elf a curious look, not sure what Svein meant.

As Myra apologized her ancient eyes had traveled up the tall mad that she had bumped into. She took in the different aspects of him. He was someone new that she hadn’t seen since she arrived, his clothing suggested that he came from one of the towns near by…were they still out looking for doctors Myra had assumed that they had gathered everyone up that was close by. His build was lean and from her collision with him also hard which meant he was a hard worker. He appeared to be in his mid-twenties to early thirties but the way he held himself was like someone who had maturity beyond his years, most likely from experience as he appeared to be human. His face seemed familiar, with his long black hair and piercing eyes it was like she was facing a memory. What really had caught her attention was the massive amount of scaring that had traveled up his arm in such a pattern, this was either the work of a ritual or magical power not having the right medium to be transferred through. She had seen similar scaring in mix breeds which made her wonder just exactly this man in front of her was.

Finally the old doctor who had just killed her patient caught her eyes. What was he doing there? She had hoped he would be collecting his things and running off to whatever horrible rundown town he came from. She was about to open her mouth in a heated retort to the poor man who was clearly upset by his accident but before words could form the younger man was pulling the older man past her. “Take me to him.” She caught the younger man say and Myra bristled. “Excuse me!” She called out to the two men as they quickly retreated into medical tent again but her words were ignored just as the elf’s were. ‘Doctor!’ Myra thought with a huff, she did not know this doctor, he was probably another hick doctor like the rest. She glared up at the elf at he commented that she was going to kill the young man but there was no time to respond. A crazy lunatic hick doctor was in her medical tent with a man she had just banned from inside. The meeting could wait, right now she had to kick two people out of her tent…permanently.

Myra reentered the tent with the Elf closely behind her but the command to kick out the two male doctors caught in her throat. Before her was a the Li-Fan man taking control of the situation, talking about restarting a heart. Yes restarting the heart was possible but because thing was such a rural area these advances were not readily available. ‘How the hell…’ Myra thought as she watched Li-Fan place his scarred hand upon the dead mans chest. Nothing happened and Myra sighed. This man was dead, and whatever this Li-Fan man thought he could do he clearly couldn’t. This struggle to bring a dead man back to life was upsetting her other patients that were still alive. “You…” Myra started to say but suddenly Electricity could be seen leaving Li-Fans hand and entering the body. “An Eltromancer.” Myra whispered in amazement, this kind of human was extremely rare but it could explain the amount of scaring he had. Another shock entered and then an adrenaline pin was injected. The heart was beating again and Myra found herself smiling. A man was no longer dead from a simple mistake.

Once the man had stabilized a bit Li-Fan gave instructions to some nurses to watch the man closely. Yes the man had been revived but without proper care now he could easily die again. Myra couldn’t help but be impressed by how this man Li-Fan Lei could handle himself in a such a situation, and was grateful for his help on saving a patient but that didn’t stop her from being annoyed that an unauthorized doctor had entered her tent and taken over. When Li-Fan finally noticed that Svein was in the tent he went back to his guide, apologizing for being late for a meeting. ‘Meeting? He better not mean the one I’m required to go to.’ Myra thought as she looked up at the tall man. He didn’t seem to realize that she was there at all. ‘I hate being in a child’s form.’ Myra thought then turned and left the tent with a hmph. The Elf’s words of Li-Fan not surviving to the meeting irked her, was she really that scary to these people that they believed she would kill someone for messing with her medical tent? Myra had a hard time understanding figures of speech, she believed people should speak in a way that made it clear what they were meaning.

Myra quickly made her way to the Leader of Operations tent, if she was indeed to have a meeting that involved the Li-Fan man she wanted to have some information exchanged before he got there. Entering the tent Myra was greeted by Lieutenant Colonel Asphina, a furry. “Doctor Myra. I would assume when you are called to a meeting you would arrive right away.” The large intimidating woman had her black wings folded against her back. “Lieutenant Colonel Asphina some interesting event’s happened that needed to be taken care of in the medical tent.” Myra held the intense gaze of the furie as she kept talking. “A doctor you provided killed a man.” She emphasized on the you, yes she was blame the Order for not providing good enough doctors which had already resulted in deaths. “But a man named Li-Fan Lei invaded my tent without permission and brought him back to life.” This news caused the stern woman’s lips to twitch into a very slight smile. “Ah Yes, Li-Fan Lei he is a new doctor recruit I want you to watch over. The Order is very interested in his….talents and would like to use him as official doctor for a while. He should be joining us soon.” Asphina found herself changing the blatant lie she had planned out into a closer version of the truth. This always seemed to happen with Myra was around; lies were just harder to tell. Asphina knew better then to tell Myra that Li-Fan’s powers were also going to be used as a defense weapon. Myra had some strong views when it came to peoples military use and it would just create problems right now if she were to know.

"Okay, so I'm exaggerating a bit. She won't kill you." Svein admitted to his new tall friend as he held the tent flap open as they both walked out. Behind them nurses were going about making sure that the now living man stayed living. Li-Fan just sighed, rubbing a hand over his eyes as he followed Svein among the maze of tents. He was still unsure of what the elf was going about, only that by entering the tent and taking over as he had Li-Fan had just undermined the authority one of the head doctors. That had not been his intention in the slightest and he made a mental note to apologize later. As they walked he kept an eye for the child he had saw early, having not completely forgotten her, or that she had seen quite upset. Li-Fan also remembered briefly seeing her in the medical tent, but before he could free himself she had already left. "I was just saying that she sometimes has a temper. So be careful with what you say and do during the meeting. Also, best not to mention the whole Defense Corp thing." Svein continued, taking it upon himself to warn the man a little. "I'm not going to lie about it." Li-Fan said, none to thrilled about the Defense Corp. The Order believed in using its people's abilities to the fullest, even if it went against the personal preferences of the user.

"Lieutenant Colonel Asphina." Svein saluted, suddenly all business. "Major Achterhof reporting." Li-Fan entered only a second afterwards, standing just behind Svein in the light of the entrance. The first thing he noticed was the Lieutenant Colonel, a large furry with black wings folded against her back. "The child from earlier..." Li-Fan started as he saw the girl sitting in the tent. "I'm sorry to of ignored you earlier, are you alright." He asked with the perfect level of concern, his attention now on the young child. Svein and the Lieutenant Colonel seemed amused by this, both looking at each other with tight lipped smiles. "Li-Fan, I'd like to introduce you to Doctor Myra..She kind of runs the medical side of things here." Svein said to his young friend. When the word doctor was used to describe the child Li-Fan raised an eyebrow. While he had started his training at an young age he would of never considered himself a doctor at that young an age. The logical conclusion was that these two were trying to pull a prank on him, some sort of initiation. While he kept his face blank inside he was trying to figure out how best to react. "I..did not think the Order so bad off that they had children running things." He finally answered honestly. "I'm not sure if drafting country doctors is a step up, though." There wasn't anything wrong with country doctors, he was one after, most knew enough to take care of most of the problems that would rise in their society. But in a place like this, a war torn city, they were outside their element. Li-Fan had traveled a lot in his twenties, boarding his horizons and learning knew skills, he also had the added benefit of being an arena doctor. He was use to doctoring horrendous wounds.

"Perhaps we should get back to the debriefing. I am very interested in knowing why you went outside your search radius, Major. I'm even more interested in finding out how I have a civilian with a broken leg and two cracked ribs. Not to mention a pixie that is badly burned and the commanding officer of the whole expedition had his skull crack open yet is still walking around like he is a hundred year old boy. Not to mention, what happen to that Xanlu you reported in about?"
She gestured towards the bandaged wrapped around Svein's head. Then she turned to Li-Fan and pointed to a chair. "Have a seat, Doctor Lei." Li-Fan did as he was told watching Sevin as he started to talk. "We escorted Xanlu back to his village when it appeared he did not have the skill set needed to help the order." And by that he meant Xanlu was worthless and they had enough of that floating around. From there the elf explained how he had pushed past the his radius on a gut feeling, that one did not get a happy look, and how he had made camp. From there it was talking about the attack, the thunder that had them flying before pinning to the ground. "Our communication gear wasn't working that far out. We probably would of been walking around for hours if we hadn't run into a farmer." Here the elf stopped, frowning slightly, "There was something weird about him though." "You never mentioned a farmer before." Li-Fan chimed in, leaning forward a frowning. " What did he look like?" Svein thought back but he found he had a hard time recalling the man. "Overly average was is the only way I can think of describing him. Except his eyes...They were like hers." He gestured towards Myra. The farmer had had ancients eyes, one that had seen many more years than he probably ever would. "I lost track of him after we reached the town, I figured he had just slipped away in the crowd." Li-Fan nodded. "There was an arena battle day. The farmers were taking the day off." He really didn't have to guess to know who it was but he wasn't about to offer up a name either.

It didn’t take long for the fated Lei Li-Fan to arrive for the meeting but it had given Myra enough time to ponder over this new information. He was someone that the Order had found of importance which meant there must have been something special about him. ‘Well he is an elctormancer which is extremely rare….’ She thought to herself then looked at Asphina with questioning gaze. The furie had stated her words very careful about how the Order was thinking of using this Li-Fan for this war. ‘Maybe his skills only exceed to what I witnessed in the tent?’ That must be it, or else this man would have been dragged off for war duty as soon as they saw the sparks fly from his hand. “I take it I’m to watch this Li-Fan man to make sure he is as capable as you seem to think he is? Wouldn’t that be better for one of the actual Order doctors?” Myra asked as she crossed her arms in front of her, this caused Myra to look like a pouting child even though her ancient eyes held no such childish action, they were holding a strong steady gaze.

Before Asphina was able to respond Lei Li-Fan and the elf soldier Svein Achterhof entered the tent finally. Myra turned to look at the two men who had entered and found herself rolling her eyes as Li-Fan’s voice turned to worry as he apologized for ignoring her when she had run into his long legs. His voice was a perfect level of concern….for a child. But Myra couldn’t blame him for his thinking, she was after all in every physical sense a child at the moment. Glancing up at the Elf and Furie she watched them exchange a tight lipped smile, she was glad they found this constant mix up amusing. Myra just found it to be tiresome to constantly correcting people. Her eyes made contact with Li-Fan as Svein explained that she was in charge of the medical needs at this temporary base. ‘That should show him it’s best not to judge based on appearance.’ She smirked a little but then her mouth slacked open a bit at his comment. How rude! Just who did this man think he was to be making comments like that to his superior?

“Trust me the Order has not lost its standing by asking for the help of…” She paused and debating on explain just how far from a child she was but chose against it. This would at least give herself some amusement. “A child But you are correct that the Order has become worse by asking for the uneducated filthy hick town people that deem themselves worthy of the title doctor just for curing a common cold.” Myra retorted back to the Eltromancer with a small glare of her old eyes, he was definitely not getting of to a good start with her and she probably wasn’t with him. Once things calmed down and Myra was not festering from the death and revival of an innocent soldier Myra would be more appreciative of what this man had done to save the patient. “Doctor Myra that is not acceptable and any more comments about the workings of the Order will result in your removal from this base!” Lieutenant Colonel Asphina snapped at the apparent young child before she turned to Svein and Li-Fan to get on with the debriefing.

Myra watched as Asphina questioned the Major about why he went past the search radius and why men had been wounded and one doctor not even making it back to the base. She couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped her lips as Asphina called the Major a hundred year old boy. For what it was worth the medical treatment that had been applied to this Major seemed to be very well done Myra concluded after scanning the head wrap. She assumed she had to give Li-Fan the credit for that and for the treatment for the other wounded that survived. After this meeting Myra wanted to go check on the pixie to see how the burns were treated. Pixies could be tricky to treat and was probably the reason why this Xanlu man was brought back to his village ‘Good riddance…’ Myra thought with a small smile, happy that another incompetent doctor wasn’t brought into her medical tent.

The smile that had formed on Myra’s face quickly turned into an expression that was lost in thought as Svein explained about his trip passed the border. A gut feeling to keep looking for doctors when people are in need is not that strange if anything it was actually a good quality to have in a person Myra believed. But what did surprise her and cause her face to change was the description of the storm. It was all too familiar to her, with how many years had she spent with the gods in her past it would be really strange if she wasn’t able to detect their divine power in situations. A storm, a thunder storm to be more exact, had caused the injuries that these men had. Myra chewed at her lip, she had a fairly good idea just which god had caused the storm but it wasn’t confirmed until Svein mentioned the farmer that had helped the wounded into town. ‘It couldn’t be…What business does he have in the mortal realm.’

Myra glanced at Li-Fan who’s interest had also been perked by the mention of the farmer. She was busy studying the mans face when the elf commented on Myra’s eyes looking just like this mystery mans. A blush formed on her child cheeks but Myra wasn’t going to let that affect her studious gaze. She hated her human form and how easily it showed emotions through normal bodily functions. A comment on the ancient eyes her body held would not have phased the phoenix in normal form but to a child such a comment would put her into a tizzy. She needed to figure out what connection this Li-Fan man had to Kung as he appeared to know more than he was telling. ‘I don’t blame him though…in such a war knowledge should not be shared so easily.’

Asphina was watching Li-Fan and shook her head. “This man is just a farmer, probably of an old race which would explain comparing his eyes to Doctor Myra’s. He is of no use to us.” Asphina dismissed the talk of the farmer as she saw no need or point to be concerned with the farmer that lead the men to a doctor. It was what any man would have done so where was nothing special about him. “But Major Achterhof, you endangered your men by going past the already stated search radius. You are lucky that this farmer was working and lead you to Doctor Lei or else I would be charging you with killing a soldier.” Asphine stared down at the elf with a piercing gaze. “But since you were able to return with such a lucky find of an Elctromancer Doctor I will just put you on temporary suspension. This will hopefully give that crack in your skull with allow the idea that following orders and staying in military borders is the right thing to do.” Asphina then turned her attention to Li-Fan. “Even though you have shown great skill already you must be watched by the head doctor at the time in order for a few weeks for the Order to officially place you as a doctor.” Asphina turned to Myra “And unfortunately for you Doctor Myra you are the most highly qualified doctor here even if you are not a part of the Order so this job falls to you. If there is any indication that Doctor Lei here is not worth to become an official Order doctor and you pass him through you must know the Order will not hesitate to imprison and charge you as a spy for the Freedom Faction.”

Myra nodded. "Trust me I understand and I would not endanger future patients by doing such a thing." She the Furie then stood up. "If that is all I should get back to my patients. Thanks to Doctor Lei it seems I have three new patients and one revived one to treat." She turned to look at Li-Fan and sighed, even with him sitting in a chair she still had to look up a little to meet his eyes. "You better come with me. You too Major I would like to take a look at that head of yours."

Li-Fan turned to the child as she made her retort, his eyes narrowing into a glare to match her own. Perhaps it was childish to get into a glaring match with a child but her last words had stung a bit, not because they insulted him personally but rather made a jab at many good doctors that he knew. There were many good people who made a living as doctors in this part of the world. Many of these people were thought by their parents are another member of the community, some lucky ones by a passing city doctor. They did the best they could to help those around them, and that was not something anyone had to the right to find fault in. He opened his mouth to voice his thoughts but before even the first word had passed his mouth the Lieutenant Colonel stretched the authoritative muscles of her voice and reprimanded at the Head Doctor, then order the debriefing. He smiled slightly at Svein being called a hundred year old boy, the description actually fairly accurate. He was four hundred and sixty-seven but had the impish nature of any child. While serious when going about his work off the clock the elf was quick to crack a joke, flirt with women of any species, and just being over all friendly individual. Within the short amount of time they had spent together Li-Fan he rather enjoyed Svein's company, despite the fact that his orders for him to get some rest often went ignored. If anything he was loyal to his men and had spent much of the first few hours at Li-Fan's office looking after the injured.

When the topic of Xanlu was brought up Li-Fan felt himself frowning. If anyone deserved Myra's comment earlier it was that man. He fancied himself a doctor but he was really just a middle aged man with an inflated ego. He had immediately started trying to take charge of Li-Fan's facility when he had been rescued from the ruined camp of the night before. He thought his age made him seniority over Li-Fan, and in some cases this would be true, but not when it came to who ran that hospital. Xanlu had quickly been barred from the infirmary and Svein had later found someone willing to the the man back his home village. Xanlu had not been happy about this but Li-Fan found that he didn't really care. The man had boasted about his skills to Li-Fan nonstop till the thirty year old finally pushed him in front of Banko and told him to treat the Pixie. Pixie's were tricky to handle medical wise. Modern magic most often time had a negative side effect on them, the elemental nature of their magic often mixing poorly with the science man made chemicals. Xanlu had paled as he stood before the badly burnt pixie, unsure of what to do. He could not treat him like a human, but he had no magic abilities that offered any form of healing either. It was then that Li-Fan was certain that his man had had very little training in any of the medical fields. Even an uneducated country doctor, a hedge witch even, knew what herbs could savage burns. They knew that Pixies were almost completely one with nature and as such nature would be the one to do the work. Use to dealing with burns Li-Fan had had a cream already available. Fire was particularly bad for Banko, who's element happen to be wood. Svein had not been lying when he said the wounds were bad, but life threatening was still not a word Li-Fan would of assigned to them. Water was a soothing element for wood; and thus the first step was a bath. Oil made from plants that had actual medical properties was added to the water along with some wood chips. It been Li-Fan's mother, who also happen to be his business partner, that suggested lighting incense. "In case the gods are listening after all." Li-Fan had said nothing to this. He had stated his view points on such things as the Gods and their ways long ago.

'Lei Kung...' He thought the name in anger. He had leaned his left elbow on the chair arm, his chin resting lightly on his knuckles. Now those same knuckles turned white as he clenched his hand closed, his face becoming even more expressionless as his eyes flashed in anger for a second. He had felt him early that morning, knew that he had been walking the mortal realm again. 'So, this is your doing, old man?'
The picture in his head was not of an old man but someone who shared a slight resemblance to him. The man had been tall, around 6'5, which was taller than the 6'1 Li-Fan. His hair had been long, a dark midnight black that was either blowing loosely in the wind or pulled back into a bun. There had always been something intimidating about him. Something wild and untamed, something ancient. Among the country folk he was Lei Kung, the ancient god of thunder. To Li-Fan he was someone else very different. 'I do not wish to be apart of your games, Father.' He had no idea what the god was up to but there was no doubt in his mind that it was Lei Kung's doing that had brought him to the Order's attention.

He was torn from his thoughts by the mentioning of Myra sharing the same look in her eyes. He looked over to find the child studying him with an intent gaze, not looking away even though a blush seemed to crawl up her face. Like with his father, Myra's eyes shown with an ancient intelligence that came only from possessing a soul that had seen several life times. Elves began to develop this light after several centuries. But this girl was no elf, of that much Li-Fan was sure, as they did not let their children practicing medicine in till they had reached a certain age. He did not turn away from but continue to look at her with the same studious glare that she used, trying to use her physical attributes to pick out her species. The last war had seen the death of many species sadly, so it was not a far stretch of the imagination to imagine that she was the last of her kind. So perhaps this child was the head doctor after all. Then it seemed he owed her an apology.

He turned his electric blue eyes back on Asphina as she started talking, watching Svein as he gave a guilty look. He was all to aware of how close he come to losing not only his men but one of his best friends as well. "Yes, Ma'am." He responded, not arguing on bit. Li-Fan nodded as he was spoken to, already aware of all this, though he listened harder when she turned to Myra. So, this curious little girl was not a part of the Order or of Freedom. 'How curious.' he thought to himself, absentmindedly running a finger over his lip as he though, blue eyes back on the head doctor again. She could not be the last of her kind, the Order would not of been so willing to let her go, in fact they wouldn't of let her go. Just like they weren't letting him go. An Electromancer human, an oddity, a one of a kind. They had been keen on using him as a weapon more than they had been on him being a doctor, but he had been clear on that one point. He was a doctor above all else and he would only come quietly if he could continue to be a doctor. A compromise had been reached. "I am glad that the Order takes the screen of their new doctors so seriously. I'd hate to think that I would be allowed to stay in a place where I did more harm than good." His subtle way of protesting against being used for a weapon, even if one of defense.

It seemed the meeting had drawn to a close. "If it had been in my power there would of been no new patients, though I am glad your other person could be saved." He said to the mysterious girl as she stood, still having to look down on her. His tone was civil but emotionless, cold. He had not so simply forgot what she had said at the beginning of the meeting. "But as the country people like to say; such things are left up to the gods." He continued as he stood up, his longs stiff after having sat down for so long. "It was nice to met you, Lieutenant Colonel. I believe Doctor Myra to be right. There is work to be done, for us as well as you I am sure." He said before turning to walk out the tent, holding the entrance open for Svein and Myra.

Once outside he turned to the small child doctor. "I owe you an apology. I did not intend to be rude or offensive when I called you a mere child. I hope you can understand why I thought so can come to forgive me." He started wishing to get that out of the way. It was..different, to be talking to someone who appeared so very young in such a formal way. But respect should be shown where it was due. She was the senior doctor. He would be no better than Xanlu if he was to come in here and treat her arrogance purely based on her appearance. "I will admit that I am curious about your appearance, but if I was to suppose to know, or if you desired for me to know about it, then I would be told." He was not trying to get into her good graces, not by any means, he was simply stating what he honestly felt. Which is why he continued on to voice the thoughts he had not said in the tent where the Lieutenant could reprimanded him. "I understand that you do not find us 'uneducated filthy hick town people' very pleasing to work with, but I ask curb your tongue around such people. They are indeed uneducated in much of the ways of modern medicine. A great deal of them are still using the techniques that their great-grandparents used. Believe me the majority of them are aware of how outdated they are but they have no one to show them the new ways." He could not quite keep some anger from seeping into his voice. His eyes flashed angrily as well. Perhaps it was silly to get worked up over this but he knew some of these people. He knew how hard they tired, and how hard the took each lose. "They are good people who are using what they know to help those around them. They know that taking bark off a willow and brewing a tea with it can help with a fever. They know which moss to pack a wound with to help reduce swollen and fight off infection. This was the root of medicine. It worked back then and it still works today. If you do not like how little they know then change that. Show them educate them, so that they can return home and be better able to help their loved ones." His voice had grown soft, a slight pleading edge to it as he looked intently down at her, like he was trying to will her to understand. He stared into her eyes were their was the old soul and not the young girl. "Please, do not belittle these people's efforts. At the end off all this when they get to return home, back to this place were even the common cold can kill, they are the life saviors." He frowned slightly at the end when he realized he had said more than he had meant to, a small portion of his thoughts having found their way out. All the same he would not take any of his words back. "If I have said anything to offend you, then I must tell you that I not sorry nor will I apologize." He stood there a second longer looking at her before taking a step back and turning on his heels. As he walked past Svein, who had been listening very eagerly, he snagged the elf by the collar of his uniform and began dragging him along behind. "You are suppose to be on bed rest." Svein groaned and shot him a glare. "But I don't wanna." He whined, pouting very much like a child and he let himself be dragged along.

Myra felt her eyes roll as Li-Fan commenting about the screening process doctors went through at the order. It didn’t seem odd to her since being able to pass between enemy lines has given her the chance to see how both warring factions operate and in the case of medical a screening process was always done. “Each side takes the care for their wounded seriously and you must go through a screening process no matter which side; it would be unethical for them to do it any other way.” Myra stated, yes talking about ethics in a war was a little far stretched since each side did things that were questionable but it helped to prove her point. Myra glanced up at Asphina, ready to be questioned more about the Freedom faction but was happily surprised when Asphina just sat there staring at the two doctors who were about to leave the tent. She hated to mention being on the opposing side as either faction tried to squeeze as much information out of her as possible.

Li-Fan continued to talk about the patients he brought in but his voice was cold. His words had hinted at an apology for the new patients but his tone of voice made it clear that an apology would not be happening. Myra had to give this man credit though for how civil he was being even though there was a lack of emotion. When he mentioned the saying of the country folk about the gods with what seemed to be a hint of skepticism Myra smiled, oh how this human would be surprised with how much and little the gods actually did play in daily life. Almost any strange event could be traced back to one of the gods getting bored and deciding to play with the mortals but like magic, belief in the gods was dwindling as science and technology grew in their world. When Li-Fan finally stood Myra was relieved to get out of the tent and back into the open. There were just a few small spaces she could stand to be in and those were medical tents and her own personal tent.

Once outside the tent Myra felt a smile form as Li-Fan apologized for calling her a child. The apologizes that happened after people realized that in this child form was the mind and spirit of a much older being were always the best. Of course she could forgive the man for making such an easy mistake and by how he was speaking it was clear he understood that she was indeed his senior and would give her the formality of being one. Many people, even after they understood her situation couldn’t help but treat her like a child still, going off their instincts of what they saw instead of remembering. “Do not worry about such a small thing.” Myra dismissed his apology quickly and looked up at the man. “It is a common mistake.” The fellow doctor continued to talk after his apology but this time it was to ask about her appearance and whether he was allowed to know the details to her small form or not. She already knew this man had not been told the camp gossip about herself by how he had treated her before but she couldn’t help but wonder if the elf Svein would want to fill his apparent friend in on the temperamental ageless ‘elf’ who survived through the last war with such a horrible mutation. Growing old and dying within a year.

Before Myra could even decide on how she was going to handle his question of her appearance Li-Fan had continued on. This time it was about the crossing of words over country doctors that had happened in the meeting. She stopped walking and just glared up at the man. Myra had been willing to let things settle, as much of what she said had been out of anger and stress from earlier events but that didn’t seem to be the case that Li-Fan wanted. Her ears could clearly hear the anger that was seeping into his words as she got reprimanded, no longer were his feelings being masked by a professional façade for the Lieutenant. ‘Ah….here is the real Lei Li-Fan….’ She thought as she tilted her chin up in a defiant way as she was scolded for passing judgment on these country folk without giving them a chance to learn. How was she supposed to train these people in such a high intensity situation? When she had arrived the medical tent was in chaos. Today, other than the fiasco with the elder doctor killing her patient things had been calm. Today would have been the day to teach these men and women but thanks to everything Myra was no longer in an understanding mood.

“Do not tell me of using herbs to help the wounded. Trust me I was there when such things were being figured out.” Myra snapped when Li-Fan started to teacher her on the origin of medicine. “I have learned those roots, practiced by them for many many years, but as medicine changed I knew to change as well. I know never to forget the hidden secrets of leaves and bark but as technology has advanced to lethal levels moss will no longer work to help heal a wound.” Myra sighed in frustration as Li-Fan continued to speak, pleading with her almost, and ran her hand through her chin length auburn hair. It was such a strange gesture to see a child do but she would not change her gestures just make the body she was in at time. She let the man finish speaking and just shook her head at his comment of not apologizing for anything he had said. “To be a good doctor you must be able to adapt. These people, limited by ignorance and availability to newer technology are lacking in the ability to adapt. You are telling me to teach these people but today is the first day I would have had the chance to do so.” Myra’s voice was growing tired, this argument was becoming pointless. “I have spent the last few days getting this group of doctors to stop treating bomb wounds as farming accident. We have lost many lives already and trust me those deaths affect me as much as it does the other doctors.” She sighed as the last of her fight was drawn out of her. “You will not understand such situations, and how impossible it is to teach while saving lives, when you have official joined the Order’s medical team. Until then do not scold me on how I am running my medical tent.”

Once Myra was done talking she rubbed her eyes with her forefinger and thumb and her face wrinkled in slight frustration, yet another strange thing to see a child doing. ‘This is going to be a long few weeks…’ Myra thought. There was no way she could leave, even if she got the medical tent set up so it was running smoothly, until she gave this doctor Lei the go ahead for the order. As much as she wanted to just pass him through so she could save herself the headache of dealing with him, she would not feel right saying that he could treat patients until she saw more of his skills. ‘Hopefully this gets easier.’

Li-Fan's eyebrow arched as she mentioned being around when the usage of herbs was first figure out. That would have to make her incredibly old and once again he had to wonder just what exactly she was. Few creatures could live that long. Elves most certainly could but by time they got to her age, if she could be believed, they would hardly want to leave their woodland homes. "I never said that these methods were the best, or would have a profound impact." He argued back, his stubborn side not allowing him to simply let this drop, even though he knew he should. He had always prided himself on being the calm and composed person, being able to be emotional detached enough to make hard decisions, but compassionate enough to know when a softer was was a need. He had always been the one to stop arguments, or avoid them, not to continue them on as he was doing now. Surely he had wanted to in the past, but he had never really acted upon those desires...till now. Till this mysterious creature in a human girl's skin showed up and started insulting the skill of country doctors. Maybe that was why he continue to argue on, because this topic had hit close to home. Li-Fan came from a long line of doctors on his mother's side, the majority of them only knowing the limited knowledge that the area had to offer them. Perhaps he felt that she not only in a way attacking the people of this area that he respect, but his own family lineage. A silly notion to be sure as she could not of known anything about his family, very few people actually did. "The advancements of technology are indeed great and vast, and outweigh anything that the past has to offer. They are both lethal and helpful. True moss will no longer heal a wound as it once would of, but it can still slow down damaging effects. Moss and its attributes have not changed over the centuries, they have remained constant. Technology changes, Nature does not. If you are as old as you have given claim to then you are more aware of this than I." What was his point? Did he even have one anymore? There was a part of him that wanted to stubbornly and blindly hold onto his side, but his more rational side could clearly see the points she presented. Advancement in technology meant advancements in the art of healing, as well as in killings, and simple fixes that can found in nature no longer made the large impact they once had.

As he spoke she ran fingers through her hair, the gesture simple, but very adult like. This whole time she had not been carrying herself as a child would, did not speak with a child's vocabulary or tone, not had the general body manners of a child. This was a person who viewed them self as an adult. Who by age was an adult but by appearance was a mere child. How many difficulties and misunderstandings had arisen because of her situation. A situation he still did not know about but had an increasing curiosity over. He still held his stance that if he was meant to know he would be told, and he was really hoping that he would be told. He had traveled the Alter many times over and had not yet met a creature who took on a child form while calming to have limitless years under their belts. Only gods would do that but then they would be careful not to be figured out. Now Myra was going on about the country's doctors inability to adapt. His jaw clenched shut, for a second, teach grinding together in anger. They showed visibly right now, his emotions. Instead of hiding them behind his mask they showed honestly. Even Svein, who was watching the exchange with a growing sense of worry, had noted that more emotion passed through the doctor's face than during the last 24 hours they had spent together. But elf could not say he was to surprise about this either. People were honest around the head doctor, even if they did not always mean to be so. "Ignorance and availability." Li-Fan laughed, more a huff of a breath, in disbelief. "Well one behalf of those who try make a difference in this remote part of the Alter, let me apologize for being stupid and out of date. When we're done treating such trifling things as farming wounds well get around to building grand universities and medical schools. Not sure who would want to get out of there was to teach in these remote places, but hey, at least we're trying to make all the arrogant fools who look down on us happy. He had had similar conversations before but never had he he side this thought out loud before, and never dripped in such sarcasm. "I am very sorry that lives have been lost. I am sorry that the doctors and healers of this region never expected a war to land on their doorsteps. I am sorry that it has been so much harder on you than anyone else, with your advance knowledge and ancient eyes."

Li-Fan held her gaze, refused to let it go, a hard glint entering his eyes after the last part of her little talk. His mask had slide back into place. "You make valid points, many of them that can not be argued with." He gave her that much. "But never assume you know what I do and do not understand. You have not lived my life. You do not know what situations I have been in so do not assume that you do. And I assure that it is not on the way that you run your medical tent that I am scolding you about." He could of gone on but at that moment the anger he had been suppressing decided to let it self be known in another way. The air had become slightly electrified without him realizing it, the angry tension about the two masking Li-Fan's natural element as it responded to his emotions. He hears the sound of energy crackling and clamped his fist down as he tried to will it back into control. Blue tendrils of electricity danced across his scarred arm before dissipating harmlessly into the air around them. Or so he thought. Discharge leap from him to the elf he was still holding onto. Svein helped and struggled to escape the hold of Li-Fan, his hands flying to struggle with the fingers holding onto the collar of his shirt. The contacts of their fingers meeting caused another jolt and the elf jumped again. Li-Fan released him and the elf danced away. A comical little hop and skip at he rubbed at his neck. "Ow, ow ow, owwie." The elf whined as he flopped down on the ground and rubbed at his neck. "Damn that tingles. Why couldn't it tickle instead?"

Li-Fan looked at the ground, fingers wrapped around the wrist of his scarred arm. He felt guilt for what he had done, even if he had not meant to, and anger that he had not been able to control himself better. "I am sorry. I usually have a better handle on my emotions." he apologize then a hint of smile crossed his lips. "If you want it to tickle we can try again." Svein quickly jumped and moved away, chuckling nervously and holding his hands out in front of him. "No, no. That is alright." Then the elf gave a mischievous smile, decided that the air around here needed something other than anger and heated words. He threw an arm around Li-Fan's neck. "My friend, I understand, you're sexual frustrated." Svein began but had to stop and laugh as he took in the look on Li-Fan's face. Someone had not been expecting that sentence. "You should n't really go after the first female you see, especially if that female is a child." Li-Fan shook his head and sighed, deciding to go along with Svien, appreciating that he was trying to keep the argument from going farther. "Do I honestly looked like a person who would have meaningless flings. And never with a child. Svien gave a weary sigh and patted Li-Fan's back as he urged the slightly shorter male to walk in the direction of the medical tents. "You are a living, breathing creature. We all desire things." Li-Fan laughed at his, the words sounding similar to ones he had heard once long ago. His father would of agreed with Svein. Svein looked over his shoulder, back towards Myra, given her a wide smile. "Hey, Doc, we'll met you at the tents. I'm sure you have one or two things two do before hand, right? Plus, I need to have a man to man talk with my friend here." He called out to her as he continued to lead Li-Fan away. That would at least give them both a chance to cool off. Turning back to Li-Fan, he leaned his head in closer and started talking to him in hushed tones, though it still wouldn't take much to over hear them. "I don't know what your type is but I do know this pretty little elf that would take a shining to ya. She works in the Air Defense Corp."
