Mia blushed. "Beautiful? Me...?" She hadn't been called beautiful since her high school sweet heart had utter the words. That was a long time ago. Shaking the thought she turned from him. "It's not uncommon for a woman to out live a man...and these days, it's not uncommon for a man to live to his nineties or sometimes longer. Most woman don't get married until their mid to late twenties. I'm only nineteen."

"Did the meaning of beautiful change?" She seemed surprised that he had told her as such. Truly she was far more perfect than most of the women had known in his time. Though as he said this his hand went to his chest. It was hard to remember, but he felt as if he should feel sad at something. He frowned at this. "I have been gone for quite some time...." The passage of time meant very little to him, but it was still disappointing to realize just how much the world had changed. He wondered just how much he had missed wince he was put to hibernation.

Mia quickly shook her head. "No, the word hasn't changed. It's just that...men these days don't exactly know much about chivalry or romance. Normally, you are only beautiful to a man if you show him your body or sleep with him." She looked at her hand, running her fingers of the design again. "Morals have changed...men have grown colder..." she said in a low voice.

"That is a shame," he said softly. Though he was paying attention to what she was saying, his mind was lost elsewhere, trying to recover his memories from the haze of hibernation. "Love is the greatest thing a man can offer a woman." Closing his eyes he tried to focus more. He felt as if there was a door with a lock on his mind. It was so close, and yet try as he might he couldn't unlock it.

"Love is over rated," Mia said standing. Going to his things, she grabbed out some pajama pants. "Men don't usually wear shirts to bed, so just put these on and come to bed. The couch is too small for you to sleep on and I don't have any extra blankets for the floor." She pointed to the bed. "It's big enough for two."

He took the pants from her. He was already wearing pants...why would he also have pants to sleep in? "If it is just the same to you, I have been sleeping for centuries it seems. I do not believe that I will get much sleep this night."

Mia walked over to her laptop and brought it over. Clicking on the internet she went to Google. "Any questions you have...just type it in and press enter. It's rather easy to navigate. Try it out."

He cleared his throat and took the small thing in his hands. If felt heavy in his hands, but it also felt fragile. "I'm afraid that I do not understand these symbols," he told her after a moment. "Our bond allows me to understand your language; but back in my time literacy was not something which was taught to slaves."

Mia sighed. Taking the laptop she closed it. She didn't have the time to teach him to read and comprehend. Looking at the clock, she shrugged. It was spring break, staying up all night was part of that. Sitting next to him she smiled. "Ok...ask away."

By the time the sun had risen over the horizon Neron had asked nearly every question that he could think of. Though they spent most of the night talking, there was still much about the world that he did not understand. After all, most of his questions were about the society and things that he knew. There was an entire world that he had still yet to explore. Yes, he would have many more questions as the days progressed.

He watched her eyes start to lower, she was having a hard time staying awake. "You should sleep," he instructed. "There's plenty of time to discuss this later."

She yawned and shook her head. "Can't sleep when you are awake. It's rude."

He frowned and sighed. "Very well. Let me put on the pajama bottoms and I will lay down for an hour or two."

She nodded slowly as her eyes closed. She snapped them open, only to have them close again. Before long, she slipped forward, landing in his lap as her breathing eased and she slipped into a deep sleep.

Looking down at her, he gently stroked her hair. This felt familiar for some reason. It felt...nice, though he could not fathom why. Closing his eyes, he relaxed to meditate upon all that he had learned. He was still weak from his hibernation. It would take quite some time for his powers to fully awaken and be restored. Until then he would have to be careful to avoid contacting the others. Soon, despite his mental protests, sleep took him once more and fell into its embrace.

Some people play tennis, I erode the human soul.

Fobby!! ^_^
Mia woke hours later. Her eyes slowly opened and she looked around. A small blush spread across her cheeks as she looked up at Neron. He was sleeping and he looked so peaceful. Her body felt the pull again just as she had felt it all night while talking to him. Reaching up, she brushed his cheek lightly. He was so warm. How could someone like him be involved in such a fight? He didn't look like a fighter...he looked normal...though handsome. Her heart pounded against her chest as she laid in his lap. How wrong was this? He was a stranger and yet...she still felt like she had known him for years. And though she didn't know much about him, she couldn't help but feel like he belonged to her since he was her fighter...and he was her protector. Though, none of it seemed real at the moment.
