In any culture. In any religion. In any ancient doctrine you will find reference to gods. Beings of immense power and knowledge with which they used to reshape the world in their image. Some were honor and praised. Others besieged and hated. Like any myth, there is always some truth to it. Though they were far from gods, these beings which were once herald as ones, were indeed powerful. Yet as powerful as they were, they answered to greater beings than them.

Every millennium, they are awakened to do battle. Each warrior represents a deity. The last warrior remaining is granted their freedom, and that deity takes control of the earth for a millennium. This is done in order to keep the peace between the gods. However, this has led to consequences such as certain species becoming extinct and great wars being fought.

The last time they were awoken, they backlashes from their battles caused two great world wars centuries after they were put to slumber. This time in a modern world, the gods wish to decrease the magnitude of their abilities and thus cause less trouble for them to correct. As the time draws, they sit and watch as the battles begin, and one by one their warriors find a master.

He currently doesn't have a girlfriend, but that's because he enjoys flirting with every girl he sees. He's popular with those that know him, and is known for being a genuinely good guy.
Spring Break. Everything Mia needed to relieve stress from college pressure. A full month to enjoy the sun and travel. The first place on her list was the beach. She had been dying to go since the weather got warm. Of course, she knew the beaches would be crowded, however, one of her favorite teachers gave her a pass to use a private beach. Supposedly it's got a million caverns to enjoy.

Mia sat in the sand as she watched the sun rise. She came extra early just so she could see the sun rise. The morning air danced around her as she watched the sky splash with vibrant colors of pinks, reds, oranges, and yellows. Standing, she looked over at the caves in the distance resting in a bundle near the ocean rocks. She was the curious type so she couldn't help herself as she left her things there on the private, deserted beach and walked over to the caves. She went to the entrance of one and got the chills. Moving to the next one she felt the same way. It wasn't until ths got to the third one that a gust of wind came rushing out to her.

She should have turned away. She should have gone back to the beach and never returned, but as she stood there, standing in the entrance of the darkness, every fiber of her being was egging her on. It was as if it was calling to her, begging for her to go in, asking for her to explore it. Her heart pounded hard against her chest as she turned on the flash light she brought with her and stepped in. She should have been scared, but she wasn't. She should have brought someone with her, but she didn't. She should have done a lot of things, but she chose to do all the wrong things.

Her light danced around the cave walls as she went in deeper, listening to the dripping sound of water and the distant sound of waves. Her hand went over her heart as she pressed on, feeling her heart speed with every step. The feeling of being pulled in on got worse as she got deeper. Something flashed on the corner of eye and she turned her head to look. The light of her flashlight made something sparkle and she turned the full light on it.

Suddenly...she felt warm all over. Before her was a man...chained to the wall.

He was clothed in nothing but a white, torn, and dirty loincloth. The chains which bound his entire body looked centuries old. In fact, it looked as if he had been there since the beginning of time. Despite this, he looked perfect. His skin was pale white, but flawless. His hair was golden, shimmering even in the darkness of the caves. His defined muscles were like that of an Olympian god. Every feature was simply perfect.

There was a plaque on the wall above where he was chained. It was written in a language long forgotten, yet somehow she found herself able to read it clearly.

"Know this, you who enter here. Upon awakening this warrior with an offering of blood you shall be forever bound. Two entities with one soul. One heart. One body. One mind. Until the final breath from warrior or guardian, you shall be forever linked."
With shaky legs, Mia couldn't help but walk to him. It was as if she had no control over herself. Her body was already linked to him and she didn't even know it. She stood only a few inches from him as she breathed, her heart begging for release from it's fast pace. The flashlight fell from her hands, the glass breaking but the light still thriving. The sound made her jump and she looked down. Reaching down, she reached for the flashlight, cutting her hand on the glass. She snapped her hand back, blood flying and some landing on the man chained to the wall.

"Ouch..." she whispered while looking at her palm in the dark, the wet blood dripping on the floor.

The crimson blood was a stark contrast to his flesh. It dripped down his face, slipping into the tiny crevice of his mouth. At first there was nothing, then in an instant his eyes opened. There was a pause. His centuries of hibernation had left him weak and drained. "Is it time again?" He looked to this girl, was she to be his master? His guardian?

He stood slowly. Strength slowly returning to his limbs as he stared at the girl that had awakened him. The chains fell free from the walls, though the cuffs on his wrists, ankles, and neck still remained. A constant reminder of his servitude to the gods.
Mia screamed and moved back, falling in the possess and hitting the ground with a hiss. Her hand ached and now her back felt like it had been shocked. She closed her eyes. It was a dream. There wasn't a half naked man standing there. There wasn't anything...it was the heat...or the lack of sleep from getting up early. A dream, that sounded nice.

He walked toward her and crouched before her. Modesty wasn't something that he was fully accustomed with yet. That would change once their bond was complete. "It will take some time for the bond to complete," he said as he looked at her. "Judging by your attire you are a slave girl? Or perhaps you work in a harem?" Sniffing, he looked down at her bleeding hand. Taking it in his hands a light seemed to connect the two. A second later, the blood dripped from her hand instead of his as he transferred the wound to himself.

"Do you know how to speak?"
That would certainly complicate things if she didn't.
Mia sat laid there for a long time looking at him. Her feelings were overwhelming. Her brain said run and yet she felt she had known this man her whole life. Slowly her eyes trailed to her now perfect hand then to his where he was now bleeding. Rising her eyes again, she met his and blushed. He was handsome. And half naked...though...so was she in the bikini she was wearing. Sitting up slightly, only inches from his face once again, she hesitated, but moved her hand to his chest, feeling him lightly with a brush of her fingers to see if he was indeed real.

"Who...are you...." she finally manage to say.

"Ah, so you can speak." He looked down on her hand on his chest and then to her. He was starting to feel weird. Undoubtedly due to the continuing soul bond between them. In a matter of moments they truly would be inseparable. "I am the warrior that you awakened. I am soul bound as your servant until the battles are over."
She pulled her hand from him and stood. Her mind was rushing with millions of thoughts. Going to the entrance of the cave she looked around for cameras or people...maybe she stumbled onto a movie set by accident? Maybe someone was playing a joke on her? Looking at the beach and the cares going back on the streets off in the distance, she didn't see anything out of place. Turning back to the cave, she watched the man follow her out.

"You can't be serious..." She had no idea what the hell he was talking about.

"You awakened me," he told her. "How can you not know about the battles? Surely you would not be so foolish as to awaken a warrior of the gods without knowing what you were doing?" He turned back toward the wall he had been chained to and looked at the plaque on the wall. He then looked at the opposite wall to another plaque.

"Whosoever summons this warrior shall be his master. As such you will gain the favor of the gods and a servant so long as you take care of the warrior. In life or death, you shall now be immortal." He turned back to her and pointed to the plaque. "It seems pretty clear to me. Wait...can you read? Most slaves don't know how to read...which means you might have done this on accident."
She glared at him. "I'm not a slave. And this is not a good joke," she said. She climbed down the rocks quickly and rushed over to her things on the beach. Grabbing her summer dress, she slipped it on the put on her hat. Throwing her towel and things in her bag, she grabbed her car keys. "I will never trust that teacher again. 'Go to the beach, Mia,' he says. 'Enjoy it, you deserve it,' he says. Ha! I should have known he was going to play some kind of joke on me." Groaning, she looked at the ocean again. All of her plans were ruined.
