When Tobias began asking questions the doctor just shook his head. "I'm sorry Mr. Hamwood, but all I know is this girl has been a prisoner of war for at least three months. She's a member of the suicide squad and her name is Langley DeMaurice. She had no relatives listed or an extensive medical history. However her condition is...Look son I don't have time to answer these questions. If you must know, just wait until her surgeries are done."

His body couldn't take the news, he heard the doctor say her name and Tobias could no longer stand. Prisoner of War? Three months? Tobias was still recovering in during that time span. What happened to Lane? He let the doctor do his job, he waited. But he couldn't keep still, he walked back and forth in the hall trying to clear his mind or at least calm his nerves. He was erratic. Tobias hasn't seen her in six months and now he found out that she had joined the Suicide Squad and she thought he was dead. To Lane, Tobias Hamwood died six months ago. Right now, Tobias was hoping he could see her after her surgery, he wondered how bad her condition was. He didn't catch a full glimpse of the girl when she was being carried on the gurney. He was afraid, he finally admit it, he was afraid of losing Lane and never able to see her again.

It was about a week before Tobias was able to physically see Lane. He never was able to learn the full extent of her injuries, but he knew they were bad. "Alright Mr. Hamwood. Now we do ask you be patient with Ms. DeMaurice. It seems while she was...away she was hijacked. Now this is a new term. The Union has begun using a more advanced chemical warfare in responce to the Den creating Harbingers. Now since Ms. DeMaurice didn't have nanobots, she was severly affected by this. Her mind well...We know for a fact her memory has severly been altered. But unlike how you were augmented the Union whole heartedly tried to break her. This hijacking along with her physical wounds well...we don't know when or if she will fully recover. She has not spoken since she arrived, but at least she is eating. You are welcome to see her..." The doctor then opened the door the reveal a pale toned girl with long blond hair. Her green eyes were void of life and area around her eyes was severly discolored. Bruises and scrapes lined her body and tubes and wires seemed to be coming out of her in every direction. She didn't even seem to notice she had visitors. The only thing that seemed whole in the room was a Medal of Honor and an honorable discharge from the Suicide Squad. What use did they have of her now? She was a broken pawn.

After waiting for a week, he was finally allowed to see her. That single week was unbearable, he couldn't stop pondering the condition she was in. When he was able to finally see Lane, the docotr explained to him what had happened. They broke Lane? He couldn't imagine the pain she went through. Tobias approached the blonde girl hesitantly, he looked at her and wondered how she managed to survive the entire thing. He met the girl's eyes and he stared at the empty look in them. "Meine liebe?..."

For a while Lane just stared in his general direction. His eyes met hers, but it was obvious she had yet to truly see him. Eventually her lifeless green eyes noticed him. Lane continued to stare at him and over time her heart monitor noted her heart beat was starting to accelerate. For the first time she arrived Lane spoke. "...Go away! You aren't real! You're just another figment the Union created to hurt me. Stay away from me! Haven't you taken enough away! Just let me die already! I just want to see him again! You aren't him! He's dead! I just want to see mein schatz! Go away! Get away! I won't let you hurt me again!" Lane said and suddenly sprung from the bed. Her hands found their way around his neck and began to try to choke him. She honestly perceived him as a Union threat. Once the doctor saw the meeting was taking a turn for the worse he sedated Lane. Once she was separated from him the doctor spoke to Tobias. "I-I'm so sorry Mr. Hamwood. Her MRI and CAT Scan didn't give any reaction she'd react this violently to just seeing you and hearing your voice. Her hijacking clearly runs deeper than we thought...She reacted so positively to her scrapbook and other mementos. But why would she be so insistent your dead? I must inform others to see how the other POWs compare. Are you alright?"

He felt hopeful, when their eyes met and she stared at him for a moment. But his heart sank when she screamed, telling him to get away. He didn't even try to stop her when she sprung from her bed and attempted to choke him. To hear her still believe that he was still dead made him almost lose it. Tobias raised his hand at the doctor, gesturing him to not apologize. He swallowed the lump in his throat. Tobias was quiet. He stared at the blonde girl sedated on the bed, "Es tut mir leid....Good bye..." He left quietly, he didn't look back. Tobias remained in his room, he never really left and this bothered Charlotte. When Charlotte checked up on her brother, she saw the mess created in his room, Tobias was the giant bundle on the bed. Charlotte didn't bother to speak to him, she knew by reading his mind how he felt.

Charlotte came to visit Lane, she brought Ariel and she made sure that no one was in the room to watch. She planned on wiping Lane's mind of any memory about Tobias, she thought it would be better if they pushed the "reset" button for Lane. Next, Charlotte would have to wipe Tobias' memory. But before Charlotte could get Ariel to wipe Lane's memory, the doctor came into the room to check on his patient.

When the doctor noticed two new visitors he half-smiled. "Hello...From Ms. DeMaurice's stories I'm guessing your Charlotte and Ariel." The doctor then escorted the two out of the room. "So you're hear to press the reset button. You haven't visited Ms. DeMaurice extensively at all yet you think this will automatically make things better? She's making progress. It's small, but it's there. You could set her back. I won't allow you to do that. Ms. DeMaurice has been though enough...Along with Mr. Hamwood I'm sure...She's very sharp and very attuned to Tricksters in her mind. The last few she almost strangled to death. I don't quite understand what Ms. DeMaurice and Mr. Hamwood had between them, but perhaps another visit would be more beneficial than more of her memory being altered. Now Ms. DeMaurice is resting. I'd advise you to let her sleep. I won't call security, but if you wipe her memory I hope you can deal with whatever consequences they will be."

Charlotte sighed, she apologized to both Lane and the doctor, "I thought it would be better for the two of them...I'm sorry. Can you please contact me when she's awake? I'd like to talk to her first before I bring my brother here again." Charlotte bowed her head at the doctor and left, taking Ariel with her. She had to help Lane, in order for Tobias and Lane to be happy again. Lane thought her brother was dead, this was obviously hurting Tobias. Charlotte saw the memory Tobias had when he visited Lane for the first time in six months. Whatever Lane went through as a Prisoner of war, had left the girl broken. The damages were deep, Charlotte didn't know how Lane would ever be herself again.

The doctor told her then checked on the rest of his patients. It wasn't until the next day at one o'clock in the morning did Charlotte receive the call she was promised.

Charlotte returned to the hospital, she forced Tobias to come along with her. When they arrived, Charlotte was the first to enter the room, she smiled at Lane. "Good morning. How are you feeling? It's great to have you back in the Den." Tobias was waiting outside, waiting for his queue to enter, but he didn't want to see Lane. He was afraid to get the same reaction as before. He didn't want to hurt her and he didn't want to be hurt. Tobias wanted to leave but Ariel was preventing him from exiting through the door.

Lane's eyes held a bit more life in them, but her voice lacked the vibrancy it once held. "G-Good morning. I feel good enough to go home." Lane said at it was uncertain if Lane was deceiving Charlotte or scared to admit she wasn't feeling her best. Lane was still very sharp. Saying she was in pain indicated she'd get sticked with more needles or forced to take more medication. She really didn't want that to happen. "...Y-You're Charlotte. You're my best friend?" Lane said, but it came out questioning as of she wasn't completely sure. But at the very least she was starting to piece together her memories and was trying to distinguish what was true and what was not.

OOC: It would depend on what limitations I'd have to have.

Charlotte smiled at Lane, she nodded her head at her unsure statement. "I am your best friend. I'm happy to see you again." Charlotte approached her and smiled, "I have a present for you...But I don't think you're strong enough yet...Unless, you want to receive your present now." She was obviously speaking of Tobias but Lane still thought he was dead, maybe she should wait until Lane got the full grasp of all her memories. "How much do you remember?"

Lane sadly shook her head. "Dr. R-Renolds told me not to talk about my memory. He says I'll only make it worse and it would de-deteriorate further. I don't want that to happen. That means more needles. I don't like needles." Lane replied and her eyes slightly widened when Charlotte mentioned a present. "...W-Why can't I receive my present? Is it big? Does it have a...a...a bow? I want to receive my present. Dr. Renolds said I'll have another scan soon. I'd like to open it before then p-please." Lane told Charlotte oblivious she was referring to Toby.

Charlotte looked at Lane, her memory deteriorating if she attempted to recall them? She managed to smile when Lane became interested in her present. But Charlotte shook her head, "You wouldn't like your present....Maybe when you're a lot better? I'm sorry." Her mind was fragile, Charlotte didn't want to introduce Tobias just yet. "You're present will come later. Maybe after your scan?"

Lane looked away from Charlotte. Her expression was unreadable. Her face was void of emotion. "I l-like presents. Why is t-this one different? Dr. R-Renolds didn't say when my scan is." Lane told her. "...W-Why can't I receive my present? I want to receive my present. P-Please. At least describe it to me. My scan isn't t-that important."
