Selas Ashford AKA White Knight

〖3:00 PM Tokyo Japan〗----

Shen shook his head turning to face Charles.
"No they can't track him. Don't you see? Zero was literally...d-.... He wasn't..." Shen clearly had difficulty admitting he almost lost Selas, it was obvious that the man meant a great deal to him.

As Charles mentioned that Shen cared for Zero he nodded softly and lowered his gaze to the floor.
"Everything you see here, Zero made it possible. I would have nothing if not for him. My contract is the only thing that is mine, Zero owns everything else down to the last thread." He smiled softly as his hand ran along the hem of his light blue smock.
Charles looked truly baffled for a moment, or at the least he was confused.

"Yes. Zero is a very wealthy man. Hasn't he told you- No, Of course not. It's a private matter to him, one he wouldn't bother explaining unless he had to." Shen nodded softly but then returned to the matter at hand.

"Zero almost died." He said finally running his hands through his hair in an irritated manner.
"His star must have fallen then, if it fell then there is no way for the government to track him. The British, CIA, or Japan. You both need to run with that opportunity while it still stands. Unfortunately though." Shen's dark eyes traveled over to the pale body of his friend. Zero would not be up in a few days, let alone in the position to actually be walking or running.

OCTOBER 13. AKA CHARLES VALENTINE.

3:05 PM Tokyo, Japan

“Because he died,” October muttered, closing his eyes with a silent sigh. That made sense - he’d be counted out of the equation, so long as he refrained from actively using his contract for a while. October 13 would keep in mind to do the same; he had other skills to fall back on.

His brilliant eyes opened again, slowly, and focused on Shen as he indicated the state of his relationship with Selas. October was surprised, but at the same time, it wasn’t totally unexpected. From what he’d seen of the man, he knew that he lived comfortably. A man does not wear a whole herringbone suit and frock coat without the funds to live solicitously. He booked a room at the Grand Hyatt and that was by no means a cheap hotel. And yet, he’d held his tongue and sufficed with lesser accommodations, even allowed October to tend his wound.

What a strange man.

“How long until he can be moved?” he asked flatly, looking over at Selas’ prone, pale figure. With his face cleared of hard expressions and carefully constructed masks, he looked so … human. Still young, ill, but very human. October thought back to the scars on his partners body, permanent reminders of their places in society for being a little less or more than human. Governments, intelligence agencies - they all used contractors the same way, like expendable pawns, monsters, unfeeling creatures out of some dark Godless hole. Giving them the means for lives outside of that was little more than a sick ruse, a way to satiate a mad dog on a long leash. But that was incorrect. It couldn’t be correct when the unguarded contractor looked so human.

Shen could only nod at that statement, indeed, Zero had died. Had Shen been to late or not there at all for them, he would have died, protecting contract or not. Tan fingers ran through his hair, a now habitual nervous reaction to being uncomfortable, but he sighed and looked over at Charles, then over at Selas.

Shaking his head slowly the man didn't reply for a moment, only stared at his knees as if trying to contemplate his own life with them.
"It's hard to say. Zero's in a bad way right now. Really bad, even with my contract and his the damage was just too extensive. I have to let medicine do its work. If you really want an answer I would honestly say five days at the least. Yes yes I know it seems short, or long, whichever side you stand on. But in all reality the wound will take a while to heal, but Zero wont allow himself to rest, he will try to be out within two days even though he will still be bleeding all over my floors. I guarantee it." Shen shook his head again and rolled his eyes dramatically, but that didn't stop him from looking longingly over to his friend's still body.

No, the man would have to wait, and he would recover just fine. Shen was sure of it.

OCTOBER 13. AKA CHARLES VALENTINE.

3:15 PM Tokyo, Japan

Five days. Considering Selas’ injuries, that was a quick recovery time. Full recovery would take weeks, even months though. October made a note to phone his landlady, which seemed a wholly ludicrous thing to concern himself with in these circumstances. There was no going home and trying again; they had to complete this mission the first time, or die trying. Lo, the life of a contractor.

“Fine. How long until this poison is out of my system?” His voice was punctuated by a rebellious note of pain as he clutched his shaking hands into fists. It wasn’t that October was in an unbearable amount of pain, no. It was the dull thrum of pain and the ache of bruising - that was the hurt he was acutely aware of. Once the poison was gone, he figured he could function well enough.
