The bug nodded. "No species really... mates... well with another." he answered, "The Vishe's ritual is almost too hard to learn, and if you do it wrong... well, I can't imagine it'd be good. So we'll let him off the ship; he'll do what he does, then he'll be our Captain again." Cartwright said it with an air of authority that the translator almost couldn't carry. "And we won't have any hard feelings. You hear me, Arizona? It's what his species does. Next time he gets like this, maybe you'll have read up and practiced enough that you can be the girl he goes to, this time -- it needs to be someone else."

Calhoun stopped and let out a whine at being scolded by Arizona. He looked confused. It was the first step in declaring her his mate; Cartwright hadn't been kidding, the ritual was too complicated to try to wing, and the Vishe in this state was too sensitive.

Arizona made an irritated sound. "Logical Error: You said that Vishe mate for life. Now you are saying that he will need to mate with someone different. You also said that you did not know much about Vishe. Clearly you do."
Tsare's eyebrows raised, "You know, I was kind of wondering myself. This is rather specific information, don't you think, Cartwright?" The Zrech's reaction wasn't to the logic; he put up with the Captain as captain enough, and he didn't seem to intend on letting himself become the omega on the ship. Poor guy probably already was, though.

There were no facial expressions the creature could make, but somehow he looked sinister."God damn it. Give me a break here, I'm just trying to get you lot off of the ship before you get..."
"... trapped." Sparky moved into the doorway, just by her posture it was clear it was Zeiyan. "I don't give a flying ******** about how long they mate for. Get the hell off of the ship."
Calhoun set his hand on Arizona's leg and let out a growl towards the girl.
"Tsare, you can come with me if you want. But I'm not playing servant-girl anymore."

Tsare didn't understand in the least. "You're leaving? And you're taking the Captain, or throwing him off?" There was a hint of the Zrech's jealousy in his voice, then a curious look on his face; he still wasn't used to having that feeling, for certain.
Arizona put her hand over Calhoun's and held it tightly, "Statement: I can not and will not separate from my owner...Or my linear unit." She flicked her eyes towards the still-nonoperational Alaska.

Zaiyen almost seemed to laugh at Tsare's reaction. "You're staying." She answered, as her eyes flicked up and down the Zrech's body. "The rest of you can high-tail it off of my ship."
The bug flinched and then shook out, looking towards Arizona. "What's going on?" His hand flicked up to turn off the translator so that Zaiyen couldn't understand.

Tsare frowned a little, "You just said 'if I want'." He pointed out. He'd rather come along because he wanted to than because he was ordered to. "And who is treating you like a servant? No matter where you go, Sparky will still be there, and she just does her job."
Arizona responded to Cartwright rather icily, "Response: You would know. You seem to know everything." She put her fists on her hips and glared at the bug.

The Bug's antennae splayed in confusion. "What are we talking about? I just went to go grab Tsare, and now everyone seemed to be a in hissy fit!" He snorted. "Are we doing this mission or not? Why is the Captain all over you?"

Zaiyen had no claims to being in her right mind and bristled at the question. "All of you are. Don't play stupid with me, Tsare. I don't like being a toy."

Arizona made a frustrated gesture at the bug. "Response: Do you have short term memory loss? You are the one who has provided all information and speculation regarding the Captain's actions."

This offended the Zrech. "Oh believe me, I'm not playing stupid!...Wait." He flinched. "That's not what I meant. I'm not stupid, but I do not know what you're talking about, saying that I treat you like a servant! You drag me around the ship by the, uh.." He glanced at the other occupants of the room. "..Pants, and then you snap and try to kill someone! Every time!"

The bug looked like he must have and asked: "What are you talking about?" As if Arizona were daft, not himself.

Zaiyen smiled at him and offered her hand. "You treat Sparky like she's s**t or like she's a monster. You know how that makes her feel? She ain't dumb." Zaiyen flinched as if something were happening in her mind that hurt her. It was almost a robotic movement. "Why don't you leave with these ******** low-lives? I'll run the ship myself."

Calhoun, who was still sniffing at Arizona, finally seemed to notice that something was happening and let out a low growl.

Zaiyen's eyes flicked to him and they widened.
Cartwright spoke again. "That growl means he's about to attack. Run, Zaiyen. Run. He's going to hurt us."
Zaiyen let out a sigh. "Sparky. Possessing things - even Bugs - they don't like it."
"Sorry..."
Cartwright rubbed his head and looked at Arizona again. "Why's he growling?"

Tsare looked absolutely furious; he raised his voice and snarled, "When the hell have I ever treated her like s**t?! Yes, I am careful with her, because she's emotional and I actually - surprise! - care how I affect her, but I never hurt her and I sure as hell am not going to take any crap about how I treat her!"
Arizona's eyebrow raised and her mouth twitched into a smirk at the man's outburst, but when she heard what Sparky was doing, the android's eyes turned in their robotic sockets, then focused. She glared at Zaiyen as a silent argument against either of them affecting her bug..Not that he was hers, of course.

The android turned back to Cartwright, "Response: Zaiyen is trying to repossess the ship..And Tsare." The last was said with a hint of amusement.
Tsare crossed his arms and shook his head, "And I refuse. I'm staying with the ship, but so is the whole damn crew. I didn't help them filch it just to have that crazy-a** Vishe chick take it back with you in it." He seemed resolute.

Arizona nodded, "Input: I will also fight for my Captain's ship. I would be disappointed to find us enemies." The latter was said completely sincerely. Reason: Surely now that you have made us aware of your complaint, we can better respond to your wishes in regards to treatment. Supplication: None of us had any idea that you had a problem with our interactions."

Zaiyen glanced from one crew member to the next. There was a look in her eyes that said she wasn't convinced -- whether it was because she was just unable to grasp kindness or if she had been misunderstood was not clear.
Either way, however, she rolled her right shoulder and snorted at both of them. "I'll give you another shot." she agreed and glanced at the Captain. "And put him out of his misery. Good god. It's like he's oozing stink."

The insectoid was so confused he didn't say anything. He just stared at Zaiyen. He was quite sure that he had heard about something like this a long time ago when he had served in the war. Now he couldn't place what it was.

"You'll give us another shot? Really?" Tsare shook his head, "I'm sorry, baby, but what I said is what I got. I'm staying loyal to the Captain and that's it. I'd really like for you to stay with us, and try to work out these problems in a less...Violent fashion, yes?" He spread his hands in appeal. "What do you want?"

Arizona flinched a little when the woman commented on the Captain, and quietly played with his hair, then leaned down to kiss Calhoun on the forehead. She was almost certain that she'd like to become the Captain's mate, but if he needed a Vishe - and needed a different one every time - from what 'Cartwright' had said, she would never really get that opportunity. "Abasement. Query: Should we...Find him a mate?" Her voice broke and the android glanced towards Alaska, seeming suddenly lonely. Without her owner and linear unit, she certainly felt like it.

It took all of Zaiyen's tack to not request their corpses lined up in a row. It would be a moment like this that one would be reminded about the young woman's tirade about the cage; how she was kept in it and rarely let out. She seemed to be half a killing machine. "I want this ship free of toxins." she answered, "But it never will be."

Then her eyes flicked to Arizona as she spoke. Zaiyen flinched and then her posture changed and the gun she held in her hand fell onto the ground. "Oh, goodness....." Sparky's reaction was purely her own again. "Yes. We should. He'll need one for our trips... We should find a female who would like to travel with us, maybe?"

Tsare raised a brow, "Toxins?" For once, he was irritated that Sparky replaced Zaiyen. He'd wanted that answer.

Arizona flinched and mumbled, "Statement: I am going to conclude the mission. I do not want to be here while you do that." The android started towards the door hastily, having decided not to care if she was going alone or not. Without her owner, she didn't need to answer to anyone else. Maybe Alaska was onto something about not needing one...After all, growing attached to her current owner didn't seem to have done her any good so far.
