It was the beginning of another lovely year at Hogwarts. The beginning of a yet another crazy year. It’s not like anything changed. With the exception of a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher that they seemed to get every year. There was just something about that job. Not like the blonde cared for it as he walked into Great Hall and took his seat amongst his friends. It wouldn’t be long before all the preparations for the Welcoming Feast would begin. Running a hand through his golden locks he propped an elbow on the table resting his chin in the palm of his hand. A small sigh escaped his lips as he was basically forced to listen to Pansy continue on about what had happened to Potter on the way towards Hogwarts.

It was rather dull as there was only so much that could be said about it. Besides it wasn’t like Potter was even around to hear them taunt him. Everyone already knew about what had happened. After all they were all on the train. If anything they were also quite scared of the dementors being on the train. Yet they hadn’t been affected by it the way that Potter was. It was rather obvious how it showed how truly weak he was. ”Pansy will you shut it already. We all know Potter was scared and fainted helplessly.” He announced gathering some looks from among his peers. Of course all of them knew better than to say anything. Oh if only his father had actually sent him to Durmstrang he wouldn’t have to deal with all of this.

On the other hand he wouldn’t have had as much ‘fun’ as he could have if he had gone there instead. There would be nothing more that pure-bloods there. Even if Draco loathed the mud bloods he knew that’s what practically kept him sane at Hogwarts. Teasing them and that stupid Potter boy who should have died the night you-know-who had gone after him. Then the blonde wouldn’t even be put into this sort of situation. Once Pansy started going off about something else that he didn’t really care about he started to scan the surrounding area mainly the professors table. Who was going to be the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher? Though he easily spotted two new faces. Now that was odd. Why would there be two new ones instead of the usual one? Draco’s interest was caught and it would only be a matter of minutes before his questions were answered by Dumbledore.

                                                Here we go again~

How many years had passed since the brunette had last walked among the halls of Hogwarts? It surely was too many that she didn’t want to count. It’d make her feel old and that was the last thing any female would want. After all many of them are constantly worrying about their looks even after they get married. That was on thing that Leslie didn’t bother with. Sure she wanted to look nice, but she made sure it was subtle. She’d be pretty her own way without all the attention. Besides she was going to be assisting two professors so she had to act professional.

At the Great Hall Leslie was seated amongst the other professors at their table overseeing all of the students attending to Hogwarts. It was going to be a real adventure for her to help teach all of them in one way or another. The brunette had never thought about it as a choice in career. Yet it was an opportunity that she could not resist. She didn’t know what made Albus want her to be an assistant at all. It wasn’t like they were used most of the time, but surely there was a cause. Just one that she wasn’t informed of quite yet. The chatter among all the students brought a smile to her face as she remembered how it used to be when she was attending Hogwarts. Sitting with all her friends, the classes, and the duties bestowed upon her. Of course one thing that she had never done was quidditch. She enjoyed just watching it from the stands like any other student.

Scanning the table with the professors many were familiar faces. It was nice to be back at the place everything began for her. Being raised by muggles that knew nothing of this world kept her from believing such things existed. That letter had changed her world. It made it better. She loved her muggle family, but it would have been nice to know who her real wizard family was. Unfortunately for her it would probably be one of the mysteries that she’d never know.

Like always McGonagall brought out the Sorting Hat which caused the whole hall to become quiet. Of course everyone was more than interested in seeing who was going to which house. The hat sang it’s song to everyone that have at least heard it sing before. The new students hearing it for the very first time. It’s lyrics always something new. Names went being called one after the other. While the hat shouted out which house it went to and their table clapping for them to join them. It took a while, but everyone was patient for it. It was tradition and nothing was going to change that. Not for a very long time. Albus stood up and quickly gathered the attention of all the students now situated at their proper spots. ”I welcome you all back to Hogwarts. To a few this will be their first time here and I hope it’s quite an enjoyable one. You will all learn something new from our wonderful staff. This year we have three new members to our staff. Which I hope you all welcome with open arms. As some of you have heard Professor Kettleburn has retired.” He gave a moment of pause to let it sink in for some of the students. Of course many didn’t even know of the professor having taught a class that was meant for third years and above. ”We have Rubeus Hagrid taking his position as professor of Care of Magical Creatures.” There seemed to be a round of applause for him especially from the Gryffindor table as she stood up momentarily. It caused Albus to smile a bit at the way the students reacted to it. ”Also we have Remus Lupin as our new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor.” He held up a hand to keep the students from doing anything. ”Along with Leslie Cavender who shall assist both Professor Snape and Lupin until she decides which to stick with.” With that Leslie stood up and gave a small smile to all the students that were watching her. This was yet only the beginning of what the Headmaster had to inform them of. This was the first year and hopefully the only one with the dementors around. The students had to be informed of what they could and couldn’t do. ”Now as many of you have noticed there are dementors located around the outside school for the safety of everyone. With Sirius Black on the loose the Ministry wanted to make sure we took full precautions. Please be in your common rooms by curfew. We need not discuss what they could do to you if caught outside. Again welcome to Hogwarts. Enjoy the feast~!” It only took seconds later for the food to appear on every table for the student and staff to enjoy.

Leslie already had a feeling this year was going to be filled with a lot of adventure amongst the students and the staff she was to work with. She had never imagined that Remus Lupin was going to teach there and she was to assist him. It was a surprise, but she didn’t mind it. It seemed as if she was going to be thrown back in time in her years at Hogwarts if she was to work with Severus Snape and Remus Lupin all who attended alongside her. She was even wearing robes which was something she hadn't done since she had actually left Hogwarts. ”Oh this year shall be very interesting.” It was just a shame that many of the others couldn’t be there along with them.

((So LONG! your post I mean, but it’s first post, hopefully I can keep up =) She’s really pretty, I’m sorry I don’t have a human being as a reference, I looked like everywhere and couldn’t find anything and this is the closest reference picture I could find that was actually pretty accurate))

And so it begins, another year at Hogwarts, well at least this time they were third years. The one thing that changed for third years was that during the weekends and the holidays they were allowed to go to Hogsmeade Village, which to Pansy Parkinson meant only one thing. More private time with Draco (if she could have it that is), he was always so busy taunting and teasing other students, and if he wasn’t doing that with her and his friends he was off at Quidditch Practice. Well this year was going to be different, this year she would be noticed by Draco and hopefully gain his affections. So soon had they arrived at Hogwarts and into the Great Hall for the Sorting Ceremony, Feast, and Introductions, the brunette was already going on and on about the latest Potter news (which really wasn’t news at all if everyone knew about it ten minutes after it happened). She very much hoped that getting into gossip so early in the year would attribute to Draco’s affections, especially since it was about Potter, how she and the other Slytherins in his group loved making fun of him and his pathetic friends. However, as she continued on about how he had fainted after being confronted by a Dementor, Draco’s tone and reply to her sounded more annoyed than pleasing.

The thirteen year old was rather appalled in his reply, despite the fact her facial features didn’t really show it. She seemed to quiet down, sitting beside him in silence and maybe even deep reflection wondering why this sudden change was upon him. Talking about Potter was usually something that cheered him up, excuse me, taunting him was something they looked upon as a past-time, had he gotten over him already? Impossible!

Well, deciding not to dwell on the thought she motioned her peers, including Crabbe and Goyle to look away and to think little (if they thought at all) about Draco’s little outburst towards her. While the group looked onward the front of the Hall awaiting Dumbledore to announce their new Defence against the Dark Arts Teacher something caught the brunette’s eyes. Something she very much disapproved of and thought very little of...and that something was a person.

“Well...if it isn’t the Orient from the East...”

Sitting a couple of seats away from their little group was Anna Tianzi Gale. Third year like the rest of them, descending from English and Chinese pure blood families, Anna Gale was one of the most despicable girls in the House – at least according to Pansy. Why you ask? Well for one thing Pansy was jealous of the girl’s physical being, she was much prettier than she and a lot smarter to boot. Indeed, Anna was a very pretty mix; she had long silky onyx black hair, and deep emerald green eyes that you could get lost in if you stared too long. Her skin was a bit pale but had a soft colour to it; her cheeks and lips were a beautiful rosy pink like colour, and everything about her was just so elegant that she gave off a certain air of unearthly beauty. Okay...slight exaggeration, the point being, Pansy was in no doubt jealous of this girl, her beauty, her personality and her brains but she had one thing Anna didn’t have which was Draco. Still, the brunette eyed the girl from where she sat, her blood boiling slightly with the knowledge that she just happened to sit so close to her and live in the same house with her for another year.

-----

During the feast there was much talk of many things amongst the four houses, first of all Sirius Black escaping from Azkaban, second, the changing in staff and third the Dementors. Well if you wanted to put it in a more serious perspective it would have been Sirius Black, Dementors and then changing in staff. However the talk that dealt with the changing of staff were not questions about the teachers and classes, it was more about their new Assistant Teacher Professor Cavender. A lot of the boys, older especially spent a lot of time eyeing her from where they sat at their house tables, noting how pretty and young she looked to be an assistant teacher. Maybe the boys had something to ogle for a while but the girls did not.

The majority of them knew Rubeus Hagrid, no there was no surprise there, but their new Defence against the Dark Arts teacher Professor Lupin, well, and he wasn’t as much of a looker as Professor Cavender was. He was a sort of unkempt type of person, very short brown hair, large deep eyes and...a faint scar or two on his face, he seemed like a simple and yet sophisticated type of person but again definitely not a looker for the ladies. Anyway, like the students, the teachers were enjoying their celebratory feast and it was during this time in which Professor R. J. Lupin, decided to extend a welcome to his assistant teacher and old acquaintance. Hopefully after all these years she’d still have a decent opinion of him. Getting up from his seat, he politely walked behind the other professors’ chairs and over to Leslie’s, peering around the corner of her chair to greet her with a faint smile.

“Leslie Marie Cavender. It’s been too long.” He held out a hand to shake it with hers, indeed she had very much changed over the years, she was certainly very becoming and very beautiful not to mention one of the youngest teachers in the school, it would be an interesting year now that he had returned to his old school with an old acquaintance or friend rather and an old enemy. “We must get together sometime and talk about the old days; it’s been ages since I’ve seen my school mates.” Remus was a rather pleasant and happy fellow and clearly thought very highly of his old friend, it was just a shame she wouldn’t be studying under and assisting him throughout the year – no, she just had to be shared with Snivellus...well hopefully she wouldn’t take a fancy to his Potions class, especially after how they all treated him when he was younger. Truly though it was good to be back and good to be with old company and new...it would definitely be an interesting year.

((So....I had to stop in the middle because I was getting yelled at for dinner...that’s why it took so long, sorry! I know it’s not the BEST OF POSTS but I tried...TAT))
(( Thanks <3 I like your reference ~ She's pretty x3 ))

It was about time that Pansy stayed quiet as Dumbledore was about to introduce the whole lot of new professors. Yet it seemed that she let something slip. His gaze moved over to Pansy to see just what she was talking about. He had been tuning her out for a while and hadn’t quite caught all that she had said. A blonde brow rose in question as he saw who she had surely been talking about. Another one of their classmates? ’I don’t think I’ve seen much of her around.’ He thought to himself as he gave her a quick scan over. It was obvious that she looked a lot better than Pansy ever could.

Draco didn’t know much about her though since he didn’t even recall a name at the moment. Surely that would be given with time after all Pansy wasn’t one to keep her mouth shut for long. As long as she was aiming for his attention she’d keep on talking. Though if she was in the same house as them she couldn’t be all that bad. After all only the best were allowed into Slytherin.

Turning his attention to Dumbledore as he announced the new teacher he rolled his eyes. How annoying to have Hagrid as a teacher. Much less Draco had signed up to take that class. He was going to get stuck with such a pathetic professor. The others he was studying as well. It seemed that Professor Lupin didn’t look his best. His robes rather tattered, yet the assistant for both Potions and D.A.D.A. didn’t seem too bad. Maybe a little wet behind the ears, but it was only normal. She wasn’t going to be teaching, but assisting. Moving his gaze back to the food before them he let a rather small smirk fall upon his face. ”We have quite an interesting selection in staff this year, don’t we?” He asked starting to pile his plate with food. It had been a while since he had eaten anything. All he had actually enjoyed during the train ride was a chocolate frog. Draco hadn’t had an appetite until just then.

Crabble and Goyle just gave a nod at what he said obviously staring at the new female professor. It seemed that a lot of the male population was. It was funny how they were all pulled in by looks even at their age. Surely the older students weren’t as innocent as they sometimes portrayed they were.

The day we met was like a hit ’n run

The feast was just as delicious as it was when Leslie attended Hogwarts. Oh how she had dearly missed this big castle with it’s many secrets. Though they all had a time when they had to part and a few were always lucky to be able to come back to teach. She herself seemed to be one of those lucky ones. If everything went well that year than maybe she’d be asked again to come the next year. Engaging in a small conversation with Minerva about how the students now behaved compared to when she was last at Hogwarts. Apparently a lot had happened just in the past two years. It made her wonder just what could happened this year, if anything did happen.

Hearing her name the brunette looked up smiling at Lupin. Leslie had never been much for shaking hands as she stood up and pulled her old friend into a hug. ”Remus! It has been too long.” She said pulling away from him. It was nice to see old friends even if some didn’t get along to well. Though Severus was never fond of many students. Leslie never actually got on his bad side not when at Hogwarts. That was all Remus and his little group of friends. ”Talk about the old days? Are you sure you want to do that, Remus? If I remember correctly most of all that was you getting into trouble.” Leslie couldn’t bring herself to bring up peoples names especially after all that happened after they left Hogwarts. Lily, James, and Peter’s death. Then Sirius going to Azkaban and now somehow escaped. It was quite a lot to take in. At least Remus seemed to be doing okay.

((like baby-baby? Or just younger? And thank you I thought yours was really pretty which is why all the guys are drooling over her lol))

Finally when speeches were over, the large Hogwarts Feast appeared in front of them like magic obviously, and all the students began to eat. While gathering food atop her plate, Pansy kept looking a couple of seats down at Anna, who was smiling and laughing with some of the other Slytherin members in their year. Pansy really didn’t like how carefree and pretty she was, she was seriously just overly jealous of the girl but would never admit it to anyone. Oh well, it’s not like she was acquainted with or was friends with Draco or anyone in his group so it’s not like she was a threat to her - socially. Anna had never showed any interest into knowing them and they didn’t show any interest in being acquainted with her and that was that, what was there to be jealous of when she had Draco?

Deciding to think nothing of it, she turned back to her plate of food and began to eat with the rest of her friends, talking about the upcoming year, classes and the new teachers. However that conversation didn’t last very long before some of them began teasing Potter about how he had fainted on the train, trying to embarrass him about the situation, laughing amongst themselves while Ron and Hermione tried to ignore the situation. They definately had some laughs there, mocking how he fainted and how pathetic he was for doing so.

After dinner, getting up with the rest of the Slytherins, and proceeding down the tables to reach the Great Hall gate Draco and his group began shoving other students out of the way so they could get through to the Slytherin Dungeon faster than the first years, who would probably linger about like it was the most amazing thing they’d ever seen. While they were entering the Slytherin Dungeon, Pansy clinging to Draco’s arm, she spotted Anna and a couple of her friends who had beaten the group there, talking while sitting on one of the onyx leather couches. Catching the brunette’s gaze, Anna turned her head eyes gazing at Pansy a moment before she smiled faintly greeting and acknowledging the girl before turning back to her friends. Maybe the two weren’t the best of friends but they were acquaintances from classes and they did live in the same house, besides she had no reason to hate Pansy after all, she had never caused her physical or mental harm. To Anna there was nothing to be lost from being on bad terms with Pansy but however there was something to gain...

-----

While Remus was trying to be polite and considerate to their situations apparently his old friend wasn’t so. She rejected his hand, but not to be rude of course and instead hugged him lightly as if it were only yesterday they had seen each other in this very Hall or around the grounds. While he too decided to embrace her a moment he couldn’t help watch and see the disappointed and jealous faces of some of the older males in the school...well that wasn’t his fault if she wanted to greet an old friend in a friendly and affectionate manner, he was the one who wanted to be professional about that sort of thing. Well, like he said it was nice enough to see her again and she seemed very happy to see him as well, hopefully happier than she was to see Severus. Although he and Severus weren’t on good terms when they were younger they were told to get along during the school year on Dumbledore’s request...besides, even if they weren’t friends they were a lot more mature now. Well, he didn’t need to worry about Leslie when she was assisting him in Potions but hoped Severus would treat her with some dignity and respect if anything else.

Leslie seemed, maybe not reluctant but she seemed slightly hesitant about talking about the old days, only because it mostly involved James and the gang up to no good around the school. That wasn’t necessarily true though. There were good times as well, some of her memories would be fun to talk about, he’d especially like to know what she’d been up to - you know to catch up. “Well if you don’t want to talk about that you could at least sit down and tell me what you’ve been up to since we graduated.” He hadn’t been in contact with anyone in a very long time, especially since the Potter’s died, then Sirius was sent off to Azkaban for losing his mind and then Peter’s death, seemed like almost everyone he was close to at Hogwarts was gone, of course the select few were obviously standing in front of him but not like a close relation, not like the others. “I won’t have you say another word on the subject Leslie I insist you come to my office when you’re good and settled and we’ll have a little chat.” Remus put his hand up defensively to stop her from saying anything more and motioned her back to her meal so it wouldn’t get cold.

Taking his leave he went back to his seat which was unfortunately beside Snape, not that either of them minded, it’s not like they were childish and immature not to get along now, or at least not have a pleasant conversation here and there. Sitting back down in his chair, overlooking the students with a smile, Remus went back to plate, colour seeming to return to his complexion at the excitement of the new term. He’d be teaching one of his favourite classes, Defence against the Dark Arts, had Leslie for an assistant, and spend more time with Harry Potter. Hopefully he and Leslie would get along quite well in the near future.
(( Well I consider him a baby. He's two turning three next month. LOL guys do that with a pretty lady around. ))

With dinner over Draco and his friends headed off towards the Slytherin Dungeon shoving those that stood in their way. It didn’t matter if they were first years or not they were going to end up being lead away by the Prefects whenever they got there. Yet their astounded faces on just how the castle looked to them made Draco laugh. There was nothing special about Hogwarts. It was just a big empty castle that was used to teach them. It held secrets, but those were many that only a few were going to ever find out about. Like usual Pansy was clung to him like there was no tomorrow. He didn’t mind it as he was fairly used to it after having to deal with it for two years. What more could another year do?

It didn’t take them long to arrive and for him to pull his arm from Pansy’s grip. Darco had a lot to eat during dinner and even a few good laughs at Potter. Which were obviously not welcomes by the Gryffindor table. It wasn’t his fault that he had fainted at the sight of a Dementor. Of course it was understandable as to why it happened, but they weren’t going to let him live it down that’s for sure. Once he managed to get Pansy off his arm he gave her a rather small smile. ”I’m heading to bed. I’ll see you in the morning.” With that he headed towards his room. There was much to do now that they were back in school. First they had classes to attend to, but there was also the matter of who they were going to allow to join the quidditch team. They were looking for a new chaser since one of them had graduated last year. Somehow Draco felt that was more important, but tryouts wouldn’t be until a week from then.

A week had gone and passed and soon Draco found himself on the quidditch field in his practicing robes with his broom in hand. It seemed that there were a few that were interested in the position of the chaser, but ultimately he wasn’t the one the one to pick it was all up to Flinch. He was the captain. Draco was only there for the practice. This time he was determined to beat Potter on the field unlike last year. It was going to be one match to remember.

”Now who do we have here to try out?” Flinch asked as he walked in front of his teammates and those willing to try out. ”This year we are going to win the cup. So I expect the best from all of you!”

It was the usual speech that was given to them at the beginning of the year. The blonde remembered it from the year before. At least this time the weather wasn’t bad. It was slightly chilly, but nothing that their robes couldn’t help keep them warmed and once they actually started practice he’d warm up rather quickly. Though he didn’t know what Flinch was up to there was no reason for all of them to be standing around when they could start practice. All Draco needed was the snitch unless the captain was actually planning to have this set out like an actual quidditch match. His practicing methods were rather odd at times.

It didn’t matter to Leslie how others thought of how she greeted Remus it was her choice and it wasn’t like she was there to look nice for the students, but to teach them and help them with their studies. They were all going to have to respect that and if they didn’t they weren’t going to have a pleasant time. The brunette knew just how to deal with them. She had picked them all up while she was a prefect for Ravenclaw. It was only natural to know how to handle students especially when they weren’t abiding to the rules. Leslie also couldn’t wait to speak to Severus since it had been so long. Even with what she heard he had done in the past it didn’t matter if Dumbledore trusted him there was no reason for her to not too. It was going to be nice to catch up with everyone.

Being hesitant with what happened in the past was because she didn’t know how her old friend would react and it had been so long since she had actually talked to anyone about their times in Hogwarts. Sure there were many that were just good times. Maybe it wouldn’t be too bad talking about what happened back then. She shook her head slightly at what he said. It’s not like a lot happened in her life. At least she didn’t think there was surely his life would end up being more interesting than hers was, but it seemed he wasn’t going to give her any choice as she let out a small laugh as she gave him a slight nod and took her seat to enjoy the rest of her meal as he went back to his seat.

Going back to her meal she scanned the four tables and could easily tell that there were a few that were looking at her which caused her to shake her head slightly. If this was how it was going to be for most of the year something was going to have to be done about it. Leslie didn’t want to a distraction that’s for sure. Yet there was something already in mind to make sure that didn’t happen.

It didn’t take long for Leslie to situate herself in her own office which used to be the old Defense Against the Arts classroom. Dumbledore had made sure that adjustments were made so that it suit her needs. Which it did and it wasn’t hard for her to make adjustments herself if she need to. Especially since it wasn’t often that teachers would get assistants. She didn’t mind it at all. A job was a job after all. Yet the week had been busy with first her getting settled and then assisting to Severus. She was going to be switching back and forth between Severus and Remus every week. It kept it easier and more organized for her.

Now it was after school hours and Leslie had time to go visit Remus. Not only that she had to see what he was planning for next week’s lessons. It had been a little hectic with Severus that week as a few students hadn’t paid attention to what they should have and caused a few explosions in the dungeon. To say the least he wasn’t happy it. Leslie wasn’t either. At least they had been second year Slytherin’s so he didn’t go to hard on them. She didn’t want to know how it would have gone if it had been Gryffindors. It was apparent that he didn’t like them in the least. At least there weren't any snide remarks on his part when it came down to planning the lessons and what she ended up helping with.

Making her way up the stairs to the second floor didn’t take long her own office being on the first floor. Passing a few students along the way she gave them a small smile. All the students seemed rather friendly with her. Well minus a few females, but she didn’t understand why they had to hold anything against her. It’s not like she was there to do that. Though wearing a ring on her ring finger had settled down a few males from paying attention to her instead of the lesson. To her it was just a normal ring that she pulled out of her jewelery box. A simple silver band, but people assumed it met something when it didn't. Arriving at the office she knocked wondering if her friend was even going to be there. If he wasn't Leslie didn't mind coming back later.

((yeah that’s a baby lol well I consider that a baby ^^;;;;;; SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG! I flew through Remus' post I was having trouble with my OC lol ))

Remus wasn’t about to be unpleasant towards Severus, even after everything that had happened and shared a conversation or two with him regarding Lesile. They weren’t the best of friends, but they were still acquaintances in school, plus he thought it would be a good idea to hear what he had planned for her during the course of the year. The last thing he wanted was to swamp her with work and having a social life on castle grounds. Of course she’d want to go walk around and remember things from when she was at school, he did as well and if Severus left her too much to do when she was assisting him she wouldn’t get that opportunity. After talking with Severus during the course of the evening, Remus wandered about the school, checking the grounds, watching the Dementors fly about the area before heading off to bed. It wasn’t a comfort to know such evil creatures were so close to the school and so near the students but there was nothing he could do about it, it was a necessary precaution against Sirius Black – one of his best friends.

The first week of class went by rather smoothly; Remus was getting a hang of this teaching thing while Leslie was helping Severus for the week. It made sense after all, to have her shadow and assist him first because he had more experience. Although his methods and style of teaching were different he was still admired by his students for his more practical and hands on approach, sometimes bringing in the subject of study or making a lecture seem more fun and interesting. It would be nice to have Leslie as an assistant and to help the students during in-class assignments and such.

Well that sort of conversation would be saved for later, now Remus was in his old style and simple office, preparing tea and some little treats from the kitchen to eat when Leslie arrived. He was very excited to see her, well have a chat with her at least. It’s been too long since he had contact from someone back in the old days and even though they weren’t the best of friends he was sure there was so much to talk about. Remus wondered if she met Harry Potter already…that would probably be one of his first questions, or one of his last depending where they started the conversation. Although Remus had spent the train ride with the boy and saved him from the Dementor’s he knew very little of the boy and felt the need to know more. Maybe Leslie wouldn’t have been as interested but it was another topic of conversation.

Sitting at his desk, flipping through the third year textbook, he glanced up at the door when he heard a gentle knock. His face brightened up as he closed the textbook and walked around his desk over to the door. Pulling it open he smiled to greet his friend and moved aside to allow her in, “you’re right on time my dear, come and sit down.” He motioned to the small work table on the side by the window, in which a great prospect of the Black Lake and Mountains could be seen. “So, tell me all about your first week. How do you like being back at Hogwarts?” Remus began pouring the two of them tea before bringing over the tray of scones and little sweets to add to their little get together. He wasn’t a big sweets fan but it wasn’t often he bumped into an old friend.

------

The first week of school passed quickly and during their first weekend back at Hogwarts the Slytherin Team was holding Quidditch Practices. This wasn’t uncommon as other teams also had members who graduated but by order of Severus Snape, they were able to be the first to book the pitch, start looking and start practicing. The position open for try-outs was for a Chaser. Some House Teams often started with just the Captain and held tryouts for all the members at the beginning of the year, but seeing as Slytherin thought they already had the best, they only really needed one more to complete the circle…or in flying formation - the Hawkshead Attacking Formation.

Now there were several other Slytherins that early Saturday afternoon that had gone down to the Quidditch Pitch, among the lot of six was Pansy’s rival Anna Gale. Among the lot that had tried out she was definitely one of the prettiest…many found it odd someone of her caliber was trying out for a team and others thought it was a joke. Standing with the other students trying out, listening to Captain Marcus Flint’s beginning of the year Anna leaned against her own personal Nimbus 2001 that she had bought to upgrade her old 2000 model. She was given some looks by those in Slytherin who couldn’t afford such things and others thought she was just trying to show off.

When the lot were instructed to get on their brooms and fly around for a few moments for him to assess their flying levels, Anna was one of the last to take off. Grabbing her broom off her shoulder she walked past their captain and passed the other members of the team before tying her deep jet onyx coloured hair up with a hair tie, the others already in the air. “Wish me luck boys.” Anna said with a smirk as she walked by, once she was good and ready, she positioned herself on the broom comfortably and flew up and around the Quidditch Pitch with the others. She definitely had a Slytherin’s attitude and was good but that might not have been enough to get her on the team. Still, the girl flew circles around the others who were trying out; she was definitely faster than the others and was very good at controlling her broom and holding onto the Quaffle when passed to her.

Miles Bletchley, another member of the team – Keeper flew out to his Captain while watching the practice and just had to inquire about Anna. Almost never had the Slytherin Team had females on the team and it was suggested they keep it that way, however…
“You’re not…really considering a girl for the team, are you Flint?” he asked while hovering around, still sitting on his broomstick and watching the tryout practice. He wasn’t blind and could acknowledge her talent but it might ruin their reputation if she were to join. It was true they were all good but something about this girl was different, something that none of them could place.

((sorry it took so long, I wasn’t sure where you wanted to go with the Quidditch thing…so…I kinda left it to your disposal cause it sounded like you wanted to have them practice like it was a real game or something….I can always edit but that’s why it’s short))
First Flint sent out those trying out for the Chaser position to see how well they flew on their brooms which bored Draco. If this was going to be what they got stuck doing he would rather stay inside in the Slytherin Common room. Next weekend was going to be the first trip to Hogsmade and he figured it wouldn’t hurt to plan out what they wanted to do while they were there. Those thoughts were pushed out of his mind as he heard someone speak. Blinking he looked straight at Anna causing him to quirk his blonde brow up in slight question. For one she was a female and normally they wouldn’t allow them on the team, but he didn’t say anything as she flew off with the rest of the Slytherin’s trying out. At least she had taste in brooms unlike the others. Of course everyone that was already on the team had a Nimbus 2001 thanks to Lucius, his father.

It only took a few good minutes before Flint gave them all the order to mount their own brooms and start practice as he opened the chest containing all the equipment. Mounting on his broom it didn’t take much effort to be sent into the sky as Draco flew around a bit warming up before he actually started to look for the Snitch which was the second last to be let loose. The Bludgers being last as Flint didn’t want anyone to get injured so early on. Though with the beaters that they had it shouldn’t really be a problem.

Once they were all air borne Draco kept an eye out for the Snitch along with making sure that there weren’t any Bludgers going his way. Though it shouldn’t be something that he had to worry about it was after all Derrick and Bole’s job to make sure that they didn’t get near them. Flying rather high up Draco kept an eye for the golden winged orb as well as seeing how those that attempted to try out for the Chaser position faired. They all seemed rather sluggish, but the female caught his attention. She was good, but would it be enough to make an exception in Flint’s book. They all knew very well how female’s looked on the team. They had always did their best to make it consist of just males.

Flint kept a good eye on all those trying out for the position, but even he dare say that female was good. He wasn’t so sure about letting her join even with her talent. Of course they needed someone like her if they were to even attempted to beat all the other houses for the Quidditch Cup. Yet when it was just Flint considering it, it didn’t bother him until Bletchley brought it up causing the male to frown. ”What do you think?” He asked attempting to see what his teammate thought without saying anything of what he himself was thinking. There was no reason for him to find out who Flint was considering as their new Chaser until later.

Draco on the other hand had no idea of what they were talking about not being near his two teammates though it didn’t matter to him. A Chaser was just a Chaser. They scored points, but not as much as a Seeker would. Which he planned on catching the Snitch during all their matches. Blinking gray orbs narrowed as he spotted something gold flash by below. Surely it was the Snitch. What other gold object would be on the field. Tightening his grip on the handle of his broom he tilted it down as he went straight for it only to pull up as the golden orb shot upwards too. It was trying to be a sneaky little thing, but Draco wasn’t going to let it slip from his fingers. Outstretching his arm he reached out for the small orb only to pull to the side as he realized that he was almost going to run into the stand. ”Bloody hell.” He murmured as he allowed the Snitch to get away from him for the time being. He was lucky this wasn’t an actual match.

It only took a few minutes for the door to open and Remus to greet her in. Leslie had a smile on her face as she gave a curt nod and walked into the male’s office. Scanning the area she noted how it was different from Severus and her own office. All of them had their own touch in their offices. None will ever look the same that’s for sure. Taking a seat she gave a small shrug at his question. ”It’s been fun. Hogwarts hasn’t seemed to change at all since the last time we were here. The only difference really is us.” It was true everything seemed to be in it’s place as if they had just left it all and gone on a trip and finally just got back. ”Some students are quite the troublesome lot. Have you meet the Weasley Twins? They attempted to set fire to Severus’s robe. Luckily that was put to a stop before it happened.” She said with a small laugh as she took her tea cup and just allowed it to warm up her hands.

Letting out a small sigh her thumb rubbed against the side of the cup as she looked out the window towards the lake. There were just so many memories around Hogwarts. Most which included people that she didn’t really keep in touch anymore. Which she felt was a real shame, but it had been something that she hadn’t been able to avoid. ”Potions for the week was rather nice. There were some mishaps, but those were all the students for not paying attention. Sometimes I get the feeling that they were trying to do something other than what they were assigned.” Even if that were true she wouldn’t have a clue as to what some of the students were thinking. The students no matter how troublesome they were now didn’t feel the same as when she was in Hogwarts. It could have just been because this time she was in a different position. Instead of being the one punished she was the one handing them out. Well in this case it was mostly Severus who sometimes took things out of hand.

Turning her gaze from the window the Remus she gave him a smile. ”What about you? You should have some interesting stories after all your actually teaching a class.” She said with a little hint of jealousy. It was just all fun. Leslie wasn’t sure if she was up for teaching a class yet. It wasn’t like she had much skill in that area in particular. Only a few events here and there, but nothing more than that.

Still eyeing and browsing through the candidates for their new Chaser, Bletchley had to admit that the girl was good…really good actually. However he was much too proud to allow a girl on the team, even if she was better than the males they had to choose from. This wouldn’t be so difficult if any of the other males were better, it wouldn’t have to take this long or they wouldn’t even consider it if she wasn’t the best at the time. So, keeping his pride in check, he swerved around his Captain, responding to his question with a simple yet untruthful answer. “She’s good, tolerable I suppose.” He wasn’t about to announce that she was the best in front of everyone, no he would never admit that to himself, hopefully his Captain would later admit it for the rest of the team if he made that decision but Bletchley knew Flint wasn’t stupid and would rather a male with great calibre if they could.

Turning and flying off Bletchley headed off to one end of the field to the Keeper’s posts and taking a ready position, watching the Chasers as they handled the ball between each other, getting smashed and beaten up pretty bad trying to prove something – even trying to score on him but it was no use…they weren’t that good yet. Still, Bletchley kept his eye on the girl and a few other candidates on her three-some team, admitting that even they came close to scoring. Anna was good alright – she was better than good, she flew like the wind, dived, and dodged, even cooperated with her teammates well. She was everything they could have wanted, except she was female.

While flying around, with her group continuing to practice, Anna caught eye of the team’s Seeker, Draco practicing with the Golden Snitch like it was any other match. The little thing was evil in the way it moved and was able to out manoeuvre him and almost causing him to fly right into one of the stands. Chuckling to herself slightly as she watched, Anna turned her broom over and decided to go talk to him, secretly laughing but still, going over to give him a little word of encouragement. She pulled over closely; situating her broom near his while she hovered and flew in a circle slowly with a playful and faint smirk on her face, “The last thing we want is for our Seeker to take a fall before the first game of the season. I’d better watch yourself if I were you Draco.” Keeping that smirk on her face until she had flown in a complete circle around him, her deep emerald green eyes staring at him, Anna bolted off to rejoin the two chasers on her practice team. She’d never really spoken to Draco directly, at least not a conversation. She was at least polite enough to say hello when the occasion called for it but she’d never really spoken more than two words at a time….

Once practice was over, Flint called in the team and the candidates to the Slytherin Team Tent to brief them again either on practice, the current team members wondering if he was going to announce who made the team Chaser or if he was going to lecture some more and then post it up in the Common Room bulletin board later on after he had time to decide. Most of them thought it was a pretty simple choice but then again…Slytherins were far too proud to admit what was plainly in front of them. While they were waiting, Anna was already removing her loaned Slytherin Team Robes, guards, then finally pulled the hair tie out of her hair, allowing her long onyx coloured hair to fall back down past her shoulders.

-----

Moving aside to let her in, Remus followed her to the small coffee table by the window he had set up and sat across from her, beginning to pour them tea while listening to her stories of the first week back at Hogwarts. It did seem like after all this time Hogwarts hadn’t changed, even the students acted the same way as they did back in the old days, and it was a reassuring feeling to know that some things in life remained timeless and unchanged. “We’re not so different, there’s still a part of me that wishes I was young enough to pull another prank or two. I’m sure you feel the same way somewhere deep down inside.” He sipped his warm tea before offering her a small sweet cake or scone to go with the tea, taking one himself and cutting it up before taking a bite. “I think the only difference is that we’re older and we’re more aware of the world…we know more than what we knew when we were young.” When she mentioned the Weasley Twins, Remus couldn’t help but laugh, he had heard of their shenanigans around the school and was often reminded of him and his own group, “You’re probably disturbed because of the similarities between the two of them and the four of us.” Us- he meant his group of friends that were famous around Hogwarts during their time.

While looking out the window, listening to her speak of her Potions class, he was glad to hear that Severus hadn’t been too harsh on her during her first week. Well, at least it sounded like she enjoyed it very much, even if some of the students were being troublesome it was in their nature to be mischievous and had the liking to experiment in Potions class, he knew he and his friends did that. “Don’t be too hard on them Leslie let them experiment, help them to learn and nudge them in the right direction. That’s how you can help and be a good assistant teacher.” He explained, hoping his advice would help her in the slightest and would help her move away from her prefect like habits in the past. Then again, if he had to guess it was probably Severus who imposed such a strict way of acting in his classroom so obviously Remus had no authority to give her instructions unless in his class.

When she asked him about his first week of teaching, he turned his gaze from the window and laughed a little bit. His class was pretty interesting; they started from the beginning and worked on simple defensive spells, often bringing in a replica or the actual creature for practical study, examination and practice. Hopefully as the year progressed their classes would be more entertaining, “teaching does have its challenges but to know what I’m able to pass on my knowledge to the future generation is the reward in teaching. On the subject,” he couldn’t help but change topics, watching Leslie intently, “have you met Harry Potter? James and Lily’s boy.”

((such....garbage....))
Hearing Bletchley Flint frowned that wasn’t quite the answer that he was looking for, but there was nothing more that he could do about it. If that was all he was going to get from his teammate then so be it. He was going to have to make the choice himself if he allowed a female on the team. It would certainly go down in history if he did. For sure it was going to be a rather hard choice since he would strongly more approve of a male then female, but if she was the best there wasn’t much he was going to be able to do. Yet all he could do was just give a small nod to acknowledge that he had heard him before Bletchley went off to his post. Flint made sure to watch how they all worked with each other and if they managed to make scores. They didn’t actually get any through, which was a good thing, but they came close so that meant they were doing pretty great. Picking and announcing who it was, was going to be rather difficult since the choice was rather obvious.

As Draco allowed the Snitch to escaped he let out a small sigh as he started to scan the area once again to see if it was anywhere near. He highly doubted he’d spot it for at least another few minutes. The little golden orb was a devious little thing. It was as if it had it’s own mind. Which the blonde wouldn’t doubt for a single moment if it did. There was no other way it could be just so tricky. Or at least there was no explanation for it. It was magical and maybe that was the only explanation that it really needed. As he was getting ready to move around the Quidditch pitch to do his job he stopped as he saw the dark haired female near him. Staying in his place he just watched her fly a circle around him as she spoke causing him to scoff. ”I’m not an idiot. I know that.” There was no way that Draco Malfoy was going to fall off his broom anytime soon. He knew better than that. Pulling the broom on the side he flew towards the opposite side that she was going. They had two different things to do while on the field and he was going to stick with his best one. Catching the Snitch.

Though as he flew about trying to find the golden orb once more a Bludger headed his way. Pulling up he tried his best to avoid it or at least until one of the Beaters noticed what was going on. He rolled his eyes as he noticed that neither of the two Beaters noticed as they were hitting one of the other Bludgers between them. Until he flew in front of them did they notice and swung their clubs to hit the Bludger away from him. ’Finally. I swear sometimes we have idiots on this team.’ He though as he moved around the pitch once again looking for the small orb.

Spotting it near by he picked up the speed and once again outstretched his arm out to catch the devious little thing. This time actually feeling it’s soft wings against his fingertips. A smirk slipped over his lips as he slowed to a stop and hovered there holding the Snitch in his hand attempting to escape his hold. He wasn’t going to let that happen. Though after a few moments he allowed it to be airborne once again knowing he had to catch it at least two more times before his practice was actually done. Once just wasn’t enough for the blonde.

After doing so it seemed as if practice was done. At least it was worth the while. Draco felt like he had improved quite a bit and it would have to wait until their match against Gryffindor. He was going to show Potter a thing or two about how to properly fly a broom and catch a Snitch. Landing he listened to Flint tell them their next practice was on Wednesday as it seemed that Tuesday was taken by the Gryffindors. It didn’t matter to Draco they weren’t going to win period. ”I shall announce who go the Chaser position later. It’ll be posted in the Slytherin Common room.” With that Flint dismissed them all. Though the current team members were rather confused on how he just didn’t tell them they all let it be. Normally he would tell them at the time being. They were always sure on who would join the team.

Draco didn’t take it as much as he placed his broom over his shoulder and was going to get ready to leave and head back to the castle. He had in mind to take a nice long shower. Though it was obvious to all of them who should be the new Chaser, yet none of them were going to voice it out loud. Heading into the castle Draco went straight towards the boy’s bathroom waving Pansy off before she decided to cling onto him. When he finally excited out in rather casual clothes for the rest of the evening he blinked as many were surrounding the bulletin board. It seemed as if Flint had posted up who was on the team. It was everyone that was currently on the team along with Anna. Though Draco didn’t bother to look at it as he went to go take a seat on the onyx couch wanting to relax for a bit.

Listening to Remus talk about how they weren’t that different she let out a small laugh. Leslie couldn’t believe that he had said that. They were supposed to be the mature ones at Hogwarts being the Professors, but it seemed as if Remus still had a bit of his child self in him. Which of course wasn’t bad. She would have just figured that he would have outgrown his urge for a good prank or two. ”Really? You think I’d want to pull a prank or two if I was younger? No, no, I think that’s just you.” Now many that wasn’t the full truth. Of course Leslie wouldn’t mind being younger to run around the castle like she did when she was younger. There were just so many things that weren’t known about Hogwarts Castle and maybe many weren’t going to be known for a long time. Accepting the small sweet cake she picked up a fork and took a small piece of it. ”Yea…Hogwarts is a haven for the young.” She had a good feeling of what he meant about the world. Most of them weren’t around to remember what happened when Voldemort had taken control and the war. It was all rather hectic. ”Oh of course. Setting Severus’s robes is something the four of you would have done…or have done.” She couldn’t quite recall if that had actually happened before and if it had who knew if she was there when it happened. The brunette did recall quite a few things they did to the poor male. Leslie never understood what they disliked about him. Maybe it was just because he was in Slytherin and there was always that hatred between Gryffindor and them.

The advice that was given to her was one she would keep in mind, but she didn’t think Severus would be too glad if she did that in his class. He was rather strict amongst his students. Unless they were from his own house. ”I’ll keep that in mind, but I’m sure your methods and Severus’s are slightly different.” Slightly being quite a big understatement. She couldn’t wait to see how Remus taught his students. Leslie had heard from a few students that they enjoyed it and it made her curious to see it for herself. It was going to see the two different point of views from two different Professors. Maybe that was what Dumbeldore was aiming for when he set her up with the two. They were practically opposites. Now if this was Sirus instead of Remus they would be complete opposites.

Taking a sip from her tea she gave a small now understanding what he meant. It was nice to give other information that they would need in the future or even at that precise moment. It felt as if they actually served a purpose in their life instead of just existing. Though at the mention of Harry, Leslie blinked and bit her lower lip slightly. She had met the boy in Potions. Least to say it wasn’t the best encounter Severus wasn’t in the best moods and had split him from Ron and set him with another student for the remainder of the class then when she attempted to help them as they asked question Severus wasn’t too happy. There was a hatred there and she could just feel it in the air. ”I have. He looks so much like his father, yet he has Lily’s eyes.” It had surprised her how she hadn’t spotted him earlier during the many times that they all ate in the Great Hall. Yet when he walked into Potions class with Ron and Hermione she couldn’t help think that she had seen James come back as a teenager. It only took her a small moment to realize it wasn’t really him when she didn’t see Sirius pop out of no where and the clear scar on his forehead.

Playing with the ring on her finger she figured it wouldn’t hurt to talk about Harry. After all he was a legend in the wizarding world. Everyone knew him at least by name and the scar. The boy who lived. Dumbledore and filled them in with had happened the past two years that he was at Hogwarts. It seemed he was a magnet for trouble. ”I heard he’s on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Maybe we should go watch one of his matches. Of course we can’t pick sides.” As Professors they couldn’t pick sides, but of course at times they just couldn’t help it. Hopefully nothing wrong would happen during it either. Leslie wasn’t too fond that the Dementors where near the school. They scared her especially when she walked anywhere near them. A chill would always run up her spine.

Remus couldn’t help a small chuckle, almost choking a bit on the piece of scone he was eating when Leslie had remarked on him and his old friends attempting to set Severus’ robes on fire, when she took it back and wondered if they had already done so in the past. The funny part was that it was hilarious she’d think they’d be the type to do that, which they did do, which was also made it funny because it was ironic. He’d never admit that he and his friends had done it, and just laughed at how she probably wished she could deduct points from them for their childish behaviour. Oh Leslie was that type of prefect, maybe not now but like he said – they were still the same, just older and more mature than when they last saw each other. “Excuse my amusement Leslie.” Remus tried to sip his tea to calm himself down and to get that last little piece of scone down his throat before returning to normal, not wanting to think or imagine the similarities between his group and the Weasley Twins and maybe how hard of a time Leslie could potentially have if the two were anything like the Marauders.

While the two continued on with tea time, asking questions about their classes, about the students and what happened during the week, the subject of Harry Potter was finally brought up, Leslie left to ponder on Harry a moment before explaining what she knew and saw of him around campus. She like many others stated the obvious about him, well how could you not when the similarities were so evident. He looked like James but had Lily’s eyes, everyone knew that and everyone just had to make a big deal out of it, which Harry was probably hearing but it was the truth, and the honest truth. Besides, it wasn’t like people were going to like him because he was James, Harry was Harry and he hoped girls and other males would treat him like a normal human being instead of someone special.

However, he knew from that statement that was so obvious to many that because of his family background he would be tormented unlike his father, who was popular and well loved/liked by all. Now that Severus was older, and Harry’s professor, he would be able to make his life a living hell and frequently did so when he had the chance like his father did to him. It was a little something called revenge or payback for his suffering during his younger years. “I expect he must hear it often but it’s the truth, you haven’t introduced yourself yet have you?” he wondered if she had even had the slightest courage to at least say hello as his potion’s class assistant teacher. Of course even if she did, there was still Severus to worry about and the last thing she really wanted was to get on his nerves when he was monotone and angry. Remus was also nervous about introducing himself as a very close friend to his father and wondered what sort of personality Harry had. “I first met him on the train ride and was lucky enough to savehim from the Dementor, but I do believe despite his past he has grown up to be a very pleasant young man.” Since he didn’t know Harry all that well at the moment he’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt and not associate him with James...too much.

While playing with her ring on her ring finger, talking a little more about Harry being on the Quidditch team, she suggested that they go watch his next Quidditch game. It would be nice to see if Harry did possess some of James old qualities, even the good Quidditch ones. He had never missed a Gryffindor Quidditch game ever since he became friends with James and the others and he wasn’t going to start now (well except his if condition prevented it but they understood in the end). “I think it a very good idea we attend, but remember no cheering Leslie.” Reaching across the table he gently stroked her cheek before lifting he left hand gently, holding it to examine her ring finger. “Why do you still wear that? Holding on to sentimental purposes?” he couldn’t help be curious. She wasn’t married – at least not that he knew of and not that she told him, so what could it have been for? Were congratulations in order?

Waiting in the Slytherin team tent with the team and other applicants, Anna sat calmly and collectively while Captain Flint explained when the next practice was going to be and that he would post up who made the position of Chaser later in the Slytherin Common Room Bulletin board. Whatever his reasons for waiting were didn’t bother her in the slightest. Secretly, Anna knew she was the best out of the others, however she would never admit it – she might have been proud but she wasn’t arrogant. The only thing left to do now was wait, head back to the Common Room, shower and maybe do some homework and wait patiently for the obvious. However if she didn’t make the team it would be a bit of a surprise but at the same time it wouldn’t. Because the Slytherins were such a proud house, she could understand that they wanted a male Chaser instead of a female one to keep tradition, but weighing the options; if they wanted to win they needed her – that much was clear.

After Flint had dismissed them, Anna could hear their displeasure in their voices, moaning and groaning in waiting and the suspense the team had to endure before they found out who their new Chaser was. Even some of the applicants seemed a little nervous about the selection, as did Anna but they were all very good at concealing it. Deciding not to waste any more time the subject, she stood up from the bench and walked off with the rest of the team to the change rooms. Like everyone else, she changed out of the Slytherin Team robes she had to borrow from older, smaller male members, changing back into her own robes before putting the borrowed ones away. Grabbing her broom mid-length down, she rested the handle on her shoulder while walking out of the change rooms and back to the castle. The first thing she did was put her broom away in one of the broom closets and headed off to the Slytherin Dungeon to grab a change of clothes, and shower bag.

Along the way she caught up with some of her girl friends as they all decided to head out to the shower to gossip about how tryouts went and how they like being back at Hogwarts. The girls took longer showers, only because they gossiped and giggled more than they should, then changed, dried their hair and brushed their teeth and what not, leaving in their PJs and evening gowns, heading back to the Slytherin Common Room to hang out and do their homework. When they arrived, the girls noticed the large crowd of Slytherins surrounded the bulletin board, talking amongst themselves before noticing Anna and her friends had walked in.
“I guess this means you made the team. Congratulations!” one of her friends exclaimed and nudged her. "Thanks, I think you guys are the only few who are happy about this." There were only a select few of people who were excited about this, and those who thought a male member would be more appropriate. Hopefully those non-believers would change their mind after their first Quidditch Game.

The girls walked over to a large table in the corner to gossip some more, chat amongst themselves, you know those things that girls did, speaking highly of boys they liked or speaking of how great it was to finally have a girl on the team. Anna wasn’t a great gossiper but she listened intently and gave her share into the conversation. The girls weren’t alone for too longer when another Slytherin, male, came over to indulge in their conversations. This male was Evan Rosenfelt, he was from a very rich wizarding family who had his head so stuck up above the clouds no one knew what to do with him half the time. He was charming, very handsome and very gentlemanlike.... at least to the girls, to the males not so much and all her friends knew that he had his heart set on asking Anna T. Gale on a date ever since last year. This was just what she needed...to be bothered with such an idiotic approach, she didn’t much care for the boy as she knew he didn’t much care for her, he was just interested in her because she was very pretty and probably one of the most interesting girls in Slytherin. How shallow...

Deciding to avoid this confrontation, the moment he approached and tried to get his share of the conversation in, Anna walked got up out of her seat and left the table without another word. There was only one thing to do and that was to keep Evan away, but how? How could she pull off such a feat? Walking around, she spotted Draco Malfoy, the Seeker on the Slytherin team, a very interesting acquaintance, sitting alone on one of the onyx coloured couches.

Perfect!

Walking over, her friends and Evan wondering what she was doing, Anna walked along the back edge of the couch, allowing her hand to graze over Draco’s shoulders gently, taking a turn towards the front of the couch and sitting dangerously close to him. She took his hand in his gently, and turned to face him, her deep emerald eyes staring into his steely grey ones, “just play along...” she whispered and mouthed very quietly so her friends or Evan couldn’t see, leaned in....as she kissed him. Her soft pink rosy cheeks pressed against his, her soft hand clasped around his, and some of her bangs tickling the side of his face as they locked lips a few moments in a very affection kiss.

((the only reason why that was long was I had to make something happen and I didn't want my post to be too short for you, like I said I try to match yours))
Closing his eyes Draco rested his head on the couch glad that it was already the weekend. Of course there was some homework that he had to attend to, but that could easily be taken care of the next day. Right now he just wanted to rest despite the noise everyone around him made. It could easily all just be pushed to the back of his mind. It was a surprise that Pansy hadn’t gotten a hold of him yet, but he had a feeling that she was off somewhere gossiping with her other friends. Not like he cared for it. Girls gossip was basically all just a bunch of rumors. Draco hardly listened to what they had to say, yet one thing caught his attention. Those around him seemed to be talking about who the new Chaser was. The name had been exactly what had caught his attention along with the tone that they had said it all in. Many didn’t seem happy that a female was going to be on the Slytherin Quidditch Team.

Oh that wouldn’t take long to get out throughout Hogwarts. He could almost hear it as if it was a headline for a newspaper. ’Extra! Extra! Female Slytherin Chaser!’ Draco didn’t want to hear anything about it from the other Houses that’s for sure. It was something they weren’t going to let go until their first match. Boy, would they regret that once they showed them all as to why she was picked. She had to be the best if they had actually even considered picking her. None of them seemed to understand how serious Slytherin took Quidditch.

Running a hand over his face he opened his gray irises’ to stare at the ceiling. It was dull and gray, but he was used to it. Being there for two years he learned to not let it bother him. Closing his eyes once again he figured that he’d sit there for another good five minutes before he headed up towards his room to attempt to do some homework. Keyword ‘attempt’ he could easily to upstairs and take a nap if he desired. Which currently he wouldn’t mind. Yet that was put on hold as he felt something brush against his shoulders. ’Ugh, can’t Pansy see I’m trying to relax?’ He asked himself as he opened his eyes to see what it was that she wanted. Seeing the dark haired Anna before him he blinked a few times to make sure that it was actually her.

Realizing that it was her a slight smirk had formed on his lips. Just what did the female want with him? It’s not like they talked or anything and she was acting rather, seductive, to say. Draco couldn’t help raise a brow in question as she slipped her hand into his. It felt surprisingly soft compared in his slightly larger hand than he thought it would. Even he had slight calluses from Quidditch. Hearing her request his brows scrunched together in slight confusion. ’Play along? What’s she goi-’ His thoughts were cut off as her soft lips were pressed against his. It was an automatic reaction that his eyes closed. That certainly caught him off surprise. Draco knew that he should separate himself from her and demand an answer to what was going on, but his subconscious had taken over doing as she had asked.

His free hand coming to rest gently against her cheek as his other hand gave her’s a light squeeze as he kissed back despite the attention they were getting from those around the common room. The gasps and whispers were left unheard by him. This was certainly not something that he had experienced before. Pulling apart he opened his eyes to look straight into her emerald eyes a question-ative look in his eyes that only she’d notice. Draco wanted answers as to why he did that, as to why she had suddenly come on to him. Heck, he didn’t mind it, it just showed how popular with the ladies he was, but it had been rather sudden.

”Draco!”

The shriek that was Pansy’s voice made him drop his hand from Anna’s cheek and pull the other free from her own hand. Turning to face her he could tell that she wasn’t in a happy mood and from the looks of it she had managed to walk in right at the moment they had kissed. He could feel his cheeks being slightly flushed as he had been taken by surprise. He easily pushed that way as he ran a hand through his blonde locks. Draco didn’t want to talk to Pansy about this if she was going to be yelling.

Moving his gaze from her he noticed how everyone else in the room was staring at them. This caused him to blink and as he kept a calm attitude in the exterior inside he was starting to freak out a little. What were they all thinking and just exactly what where they going to say. He couldn’t help, but gulp feeling as if he needed something to drink. Just what was he going to say? It was as if time had suddenly become frozen.

That chuckle. Now Leslie couldn’t help wonder if they had really done something as set Severus’s robe on fire. It seemed like them and Remus was chuckling at just the suggesting. She wouldn’t put it past them if they had done it. She had a good gut feeling that they had and it was just the prefect in her that caused her to shake her head in the slightest. A small prefect trait that she had picked up was being able to tell when others were lying, but with the Sirius, James, Remus, and Peter she could never be sure. They had always been sneaky and devious with their pranks and tricks so it was hard at times and she tended to let it slide. Just like right now. She wasn’t going to question Remus on the subject as she didn’t want to know.

Leslie figured that Harry receive a lot of that from many that knew his parents, but it was just hard to not say anything about it. Lily and James had been such wonderful people despite James liking for trouble at Hogwarts. It was what made him a wonderful wizard in the end. Though Leslie had a better bond with Lily as she took her studies more serious than the males along with the prefect duties that they helped each other with.

She shook her head at his question. Leslie hadn’t had the time to introduce herself like she would have liked. Though she didn’t even know if she was going to. So many wizards and witches probably did that to the boy just for who he was. For being the one to defeat Voldemort and as an infant as well. ”I haven’t. I don’t want to single him out from the rest of the students just because I knew his parents. Then there’s Severus. You know he isn’t fond of Harry.” That was rather obvious. Though Severus wasn’t fond of any Gryffindor. It seemed it was going to just be a grudge he was going to hold all the way to his death. She didn’t understand why he did. It wasn’t Harry’s fault for the way his father acted was when he was younger. They were two different people and she hoped that maybe one day Severus would just let it go. ”Right, I heard about that. Are you sure your not just saying that because he is one of your closest friend’s son? I have heard different.” Leslie couldn’t help most were being rather biased by taking in count to what happened in his past and even before he was born. The brunette would like to meet him just to see who had the right say about it. ”Speaking of which, why where you on the train?” now that she was rather curious about. Normally Professors arrived earlier and separate from the students, but he had gone along on the train.

It made Leslie smile that he had agreed to go watch Harry’s Quidditch game. They had always been the highlights at Hogwarts and it seemed that it still was. It was going to be rather difficult for her to not cheer though. She had always got into the games and got rather mad when things didn’t go the way she wanted them to. Like the times that Ravenclaw lost against Gryffindor she couldn’t help pout when James would bring it causing the other to laugh and Sirius to say something silly earning himself a good smack on the back of his head and her leaving not wanting to remember the outcome. Feeling his hand brush against her cheek those thoughts were pushed to the back of her mind as she bit her lower lip shifting her gaze away from him not being able to say anything. At the mention of the ring her gaze fell on her hand in his. The ring meant nothing. It was just a ring. So why couldn’t she bring herself to say that?

A small grin slipped over her lips as she looked at the ring as well. ”Lovely little thing isn’t it? Rather simple, but nice.” She started off not answering his question for the time being. ”Received it from Donatien Auclair when I was living in France up until this summer.” Maybe a little bit of all the Marauders had rubbed off on her over the years that she had known them and pulling off a trick like this wouldn’t be something that Remus certainly wouldn’t be expecting. Not from her that’s for sure. She had yet to remove her hand from Remus‘s though. ”Have you met that right person yet and just know that they are the one?” She asked. Leslie wanted to let it sink in as if she was actually being serious. It’s not like she even know who Mr. Right was for her either. Maybe Remus had a little more luck than her over the years.

Remus had never thought about singling Harry out before, but hearing it for the first time made sense to him. After all he was the one who defeated he who must not be named as a child and must have had lots of attention since he came back to the wizarding world after all those years. He probably didn’t need his classmates and more so friends of his parents, talking about the old days and reminding him of his solitude and the loneliness that came with the fame. “I understand your reason but consider for a moment, what about his parents he could learn from us. I’m sure he is curious wouldn’t you be?” he questioned her, continuing to sip his tea in a polite manner still thinking about what they both said. Maybe they would be helpful and maybe they wouldn’t be, it would all depend on what sort of person Harry really was, and really Remus hadn’t spent enough time with him to know about that. “I wouldn’t lie Leslie, I wouldn’t have you think so ill of me,” he tried to explain that he wasn’t being biased just because he was James’ son, “he seemed like a pleasant boy at the time, but from what I hear he’s just like his father. However I will not judge him until I know him better.” It hurt a little bit that Leslie could have thought so ill of him but it may have been true. Hopefully Remus wouldn’t end up giving Harry special treatment because he was James’ son.

Just as he had explained their situation on the train, Leslie questioned him about why he was on the train in the first place. Most teachers that didn’t live on the grounds came a week or two before term began, but Remus arrived the same day with the children. Obviously there had to be an explanation for it and there was, “Dumbledore asked me to chaperon the students. Being the…Defence against the Dark Arts teacher, he thought it appropriate if I were to stay on the train with the children until they arrived to the platform in case something happened.” That something was a Dementor or two boarding the train and attacking poor Harry. Luckily, he was there to save the day and probably save Harry’s sanity. He was quite happy things turned out the way they did – well, him saving Harry of course for if he hadn’t who knew what would have happened to him.

The topic quickly moved from Harry to Quidditch and then by Remus’ happy curiosity, the ring on his friend’s ring finger. She had not answered his original question he noticed that and knew she was trying to indirectly avoid it. Was she hiding something? A secret maybe? Well if she wanted to she could just say so but something seemed a little off with her answer. Explaining she got it from when she lived in France, she suddenly changed topic again and asked if he had met the right person, the one they called…well THE ONE. It was an odd sort of question, something he would never consider because of his condition and situation in life, but she was a good enough friend to be told the truth and given a straight answer. Patting the top of her hand with his free hand gently, he smiled slightly before answering. “I’m not looking for such a person nor have I ever tried. I believe that if such a person is out there, he’ll find you. Either that or you’ll meet him. It’s better not to search for such people, let things and life happen accordingly.” If she was asking such a question there was no way that ring was used for engagement or wedding purposes, maybe it was something else.

“Now Leslie I know you not to be secretive, tell me what this is all about?” he released her hand and refilled his cup with more tea and sipped it, wondering if there was an interesting story behind this. If he didn’t know any better it was like an indirect confession to him. Well, that was if he was childish enough to think such things. As they were now adults they didn’t have time for such frivolity and such a childish state of mind, there must have been some other reason why she would have asked him – if nothing else out of pure curiosity.

Anna had never imagined this to turn out so well…..so well received was more like it. She assumed that by his reaction he had enough pride in himself to keep his mouth shut for the time being and like she asked to just play along. She had a perfectly good explanation for this and would give it as soon as time allotted, but for now they had to act exactly as she planned. A perfect couple for those who could properly see it, her friends so shocked, Evan Rosenfelt rather put off, and the other Slytherins who were in the room also just as surprised. Each and every one beginning to stare once they caught notice of the two on the couch, kissing by the fireplace. It was PERFECT, absolutely perfect, Evan would leave her alone, she’d apologize to Draco later, and would all be forgotten later. At least that’s how she wanted it to be…it seemed that things had gotten a little out of control the longer she kept this up.

While her lips pressed against his, hand clasped around his ever so gently, her heart strangely enough, almost skipped a beat when he reached up and cupped her cheek with his free hand, and then squeezing her hand lightly in his. Her heart strangely beat faster and faster, she didn’t know what to do! She didn’t expect him to be this…this….!?!?!?! She was falling to pieces, she couldn’t even think straight, (not that you were supposed to think why you were kissing your boyfriend) the thing was, she had never been attracted to Draco before. The two were just acquaintances who said hello in the hall, shared some teasing remarks, but they’d never gotten into an intimate conversation, had never just hung out, she didn’t even think they were on a first name basis and yet her heart was pounding rapidly beneath her chest. Lost in thought, she was finally relieved when Draco pulled away from her slowly, both of them opening their eyes to stare directly into the others, her eyes confused by her own feelings, her cheeks flushed while his eyes only seemed to question her motives. Oh how much trouble had she gotten herself into…?

Before she could answer, her mouth opening to at least say something she heard a loud voice near the entrance of the common room which immediately had her turn her head. There she was, all flustered and angry, her eyes glaring to the both of them, Draco’s hand slipped away from Anna’s cheek and her hand as he faced her as well. That was embarrassing…how long had she been standing there? How much had the young girl seen? It didn’t really matter actually but Pansy was causing a scene, acting like a jealous girlfriend, and it wasn’t even like she and Draco were dating! She doted on the boy; she had an attachment but nothing so important as to embarrass the two of them.

“Draco! Would you like to explain to me what exactly is going on? What are you doing with…with her!? I demand to know what your relationship is with her?”

The girl was hysterical, and everyone was staring and beginning to whisper, it even made Anna quite nervous. It wasn’t a big deal was it? She didn’t think her antics would go so far after all she just wanted an excuse to get Evan away from her. Feeling uncomfortable about the present situation and knowing they couldn’t be alone long enough for her to explain, the dark haired girl stood up and took Draco’s hand along with her. Pulling him up from the couch she practically dragged him past Pansy, out of the common room not exactly sure she was she was going, but allowing herself to be taken away to find a suitable place for them to talk in private. Wandering around the corridors she found the two a classroom to stake out in for a while, pulling the door open and motioning him inside before walking in after him and locking it in case someone tried to break in again. ‘Finally…’ the young girl thought to herself, fixing her hair before turning to the blonde she’d brought with her.

Sighing heavily, Anna knew that it was time to confess. The reason she had kissed him out of nowhere of course, not her feelings!!! She didn’t even know if she had any feelings for him, but for some reason she couldn’t bear to look at him more than three seconds without turning a bit pink or turning away.
“I’m sorry to have trouble you,” she began politely and as respectfully as she could, knowing of both their situation in life it was demanded that she act like a lady, “I know it was sudden but I just had to get away from Evan, that…that snake in human skin!”
Just how had he even gotten involved into such a situation? Draco didn’t even know he had just been sitting there minding his own business and had been suddenly pulled into a kiss. It wasn’t a bad kiss, but there wasn’t supposed to be any meaning around it, right? ’Right…’ He thought to himself as he head Pansy yell at him some more a rather small sigh escaping his lips. He didn’t want to hear her complaining. She was the one that was causing the res of those in the room to stare at them. Draco didn’t even see what the big deal was it wasn’t like he was dating her. She clung onto him and just followed him around. There was nothing more than that. Maybe she had taken it differently from how he had shown no real care if she was hanging on him or listening to whatever he had to talk about.

Just as he was about to open his mouth and tell Pansy that it really wasn’t any of her business he was pulled up to his feet. Draco scrunched his brows once again as he looked towards Anna as she pulled him away from the couch and towards the exit. He was surprised that he was willingly going anywhere with her. He didn’t even bother to glance at Pansy as they walked right by her causing a slight gasp to escape her lips as they did so. ’Where the bloody hell is she taking me?’ He narrowed his eyes as they scanned their surroundings. It seemed like any regular hall in Hogwarts. Nothing out of the ordinary that’s for sure.

As Anna opened the door for him Draco hesitantly walked in. Was she now going to give him an explanation? It was about damn time. Finding somewhere to take a seat he crossed his arms over his chest as he just looked at her. There was something wrong. She wouldn’t look him in the eyes. It was as if she was trying to avoid eye contact with that. The Slytherin did not enjoy that one single bit. Her explanation and apology only causing him to frown. ”Was that all?” He asked as he moved his gaze from her to the many different objects in the classroom. It didn’t seem like one he had been in before. ”It doesn’t really sound like my problem so I don’t know why you brought me into it.”

Draco didn’t enjoy what he was hearing from her. That had not been the reason or explanation that he wanted to hear. He wasn’t some sort of tool for her to use. Who was she to him? Nothing. Yet here she was bringing him into problems that he didn’t really care for. ”You’re a Slytherin and are now on the Slytherin Quidditch team. You should learn how to deal with your problems on your own. We don’t protect each other.” They all had to fend for themselves. Survival of the fittest. That’s what Slytherin was and would always be. It didn’t change not even for the females. Families even didn’t defend each other at times. They ended up splitting and surviving if they have the willpower.

Moving his gaze back to Anna he searched her face to see if any of this was making sense to her. ”We aren’t pansies like those Gryffindor. So next time deal with your problem on your own.” He stated. Draco could easily have left it at that and just gone back to the Slytherin Common room and headed to his room to avoid talking to anyone, but he stayed. The blonde wanted to see what she was going to say for herself. He almost wanted her to defend herself for what she had done when she had no right to do that without his permission. Even if he had gone along with it.

There was some guilt forming in Leslie’s stomach as she listened to Remus. She hadn’t intended to make it seem as if she was thinking ill of him. She just didn’t want to favor any one student over another. Yet she knew that Harry had a right to know about his parents. ”Your right, but during class isn’t the best time to do that. If we tell him about his parents it has to be on his time.” There was always going to a slightly strict side to Leslie. It was hard to avoid such a thing especially when it came to teaching. It was a job she took rather seriously. ”We would have to get to know him better if we are to figure that out.” Looking gown at her teacup she picked it up only to set it down as she let out a small sigh. “I apologize, I didn’t mean to sound as if I was thinking ill of you. It’s just hard to know that some of these students are children of our friends and we can’t let our emotions become the better of us.” There was a strong feeling that was happening either way. Feelings were just such a incontrollable thing. They just happened.

That Dumbledore. It seemed as if he was always one step ahead of them all. Sometimes the brunette wondered if the elder wizard could tell the future. It always seemed that he had an answer for everything despite what he said. He was just modest and one of the friendliest wizards that she had ever met. Picking up her cup she took a sip as she gave a small nod. ”It’s understandable. I still can’t believe the Dementors are here. We are plenty safe with Dumbledore here. There isn’t a need for them. They just cause trouble.” It was true that’s all they did. They were fine if they had just stayed in their spot at Azkaban. After all that’s where they belonged. Why should the students have to suffer having those things around. Even if it was for precaution she felt it was ridiculous.

When it came to Leslie’s ring she didn’t try to avoid Remus’s question. It sort of just happened. Though the answer her friend gave her surprised her in the slightest. It was rather thought out and her curiosity was now starting to get the best of her as she gave his hand a small squeeze as she leaned forward in the slightest. ”Really, Remus? Don’t you think that sometimes that person could be the one sitting next to you on a bus and all it could take is a possible hello? You have to try to some extent. Even if it’s the tiniest bit.” Leslie didn’t even know where all of this was coming since she had only ever felt herself be in love once and that was oh so long ago.

As he pulled his hand away Leslie gave a shrug. What she had wanted to do as a joke she felt would be better left for another moment. She didn’t even see how she was being secretive. There wasn’t anything she had to keep as a secret. ”I don’t even know myself, Remus. Maybe this is just a story for another time.” Yea, that was good. Just leave it like that. ”I thought you wanted to catch up? We hardly have done that. What have you been up to these many years?” All that they had talked about how revolved around Hogwarts, but what happened afterward? Now that was the story they had talked about telling each other.

Listening to her reasoning on why she didn’t want to single Harry out Remus understood where she was coming from. It was very true that a couple of the students were the children of their old school mates and that they couldn’t give them special treatment because of that but they already had…or had begun to indirectly of course. “Oh please don’t apologize Leslie, it’s alright I understand how you feel but Harry has special circumstances to him, he lost his parents when he was a baby and has no other family, but you are right and I will tell him what he wants to know when the time is right and when he asks for it. You should do the same.” He smiled and took another sip of his tea before placing it down on the table, warm enough to carry on a conversation with just words instead of having to pause and take a sip of tea every so often.

Leslie soon began to express her opinions on having Dementors on Hogwarts grounds. To be completely honest he wasn’t too thrilled about it either but it was for the children’s protection against his old friend and Azkaban escapee – Sirius Black. Remus knew that in reality, the Dementors were much more of a threat than Sirius but parents wouldn’t allow their children to go to school if they knew a mass murderer was walking about the area so he knew why Dumbledore allowed the creatures to roam about...but still he was worried that they’d attack another student. If they could attack Harry why not anyone else? “You can’t do anything about them, leave them be Dumbledore was furious enough as it was to have them board the train, I don’t think he’ll allow them into the grounds.” But then again who was to really stop them unless they were caught in the act?

Hearing her opinion of finding the right person – the one simply on a bus ride after saying a mere hello, Remus couldn’t help but chuckle at his friend’s amusement once again, wondering why she’d gotten so serious all of a sudden on a subject like love. “You give your opinion so decidedly for someone who isn’t married yet...but again that’s my assumption.” He said crossing his arms to deeply consider what she said, “in our world there are no such things as coincidences, if it was meant to happen it’s meant to happen but I think...to fall in love with the right person would be an awfully great adventure don’t you think?” he then smirked out of his seriousness, trying to cheer her mood up again.

It seemed the two had strayed from their original plans of meeting and talking about the large gap between when they graduated and when they’d come back to Hogwarts. He admitted that he had become far too distracted with the current topics at had to remember and quickly obliged her request to explain what he had been doing all these years...
“It’s nothing impressive I assure you, I’ve been travelling, I don’t like to stay in one place to long, taking little jobs here and there. I was staying at my parents house recently when Dumbledore tracked me down and asked me to brave the challenges of teaching the Defence against the Dark Arts Class.” He wasn’t going to explain how he refused Dumbledore the first few times before he finally convinced him to join their teaching staff, “I haven’t been in contact with anyone since James and Lily’s death, but enough about me...what about you?” he was curious to know what she’d been up to, obviously anything was better than running away from yourself, trying to stay as sane as possible when you were a threat to society.

Anna had explained her situation in the best possible way she could…there was nothing more to say than the simple cry for help that she desperately needed to keep Evan away from her. He wouldn’t have left her alone until he was satisfied and at the moment she felt like ‘pretending’ to have a boyfriend would be the best possible way to get out of it. Again it seemed like a good idea at the time but now that she was hearing Draco’s real feelings about it she realized how much trouble she had caused him and had nothing further to say. But if he was so against it why did it seem like he was trying so hard? Why did he tighten his grip on her hand? Why did he put a hand on her cheek? Why?

Pacing around the classroom, listening to his continuous lecturing about how Slytherins did things, how they didn’t help each other with their problems, how they had to bare it alone, she kept her back to him, seeming like she was crossing her arms over her own chest while in fact she was holding onto herself, trying not to snap out in anger and complete disgust in his behaviour…but he was right. She was foolish to seem desperate, and she was a fool to even bother asking for his help, not that it was a verbal agreement. Anna had never asked for help before, she’d always done things alone, and only had herself to depend on, she didn’t even know why she couldn’t deal with the problem herself. Maybe for the first time in her life she was afraid of something. She said nothing and remained silent and allowed the blonde to continue on with his rant as she walked over to the window at the far end of the room opposite him and stood under the light in her black casual gown, looking out to the sky and scenery, waiting for him to finish. When he finished, instructing her to deal with her problems on her own the room fell silent. She didn’t hear the sound of him getting out of the chair, nor the sound of the door opening…why was he still there, had he something more to say to her? What was he waiting for?

“You’ve been very precise in humiliating me every way possible and I am sure you have nothing further to say to me.” The dark haired girl muttered softly, her gaze still adverted outside instead of towards the blonde. No longer did her voice have that lulling, bright and flirtatious tone to it but seemed a little injured and weak. Her pride and her self-esteem had been completely humiliated and she wouldn’t stand to hear another word of criticism. “You’ve been perfectly clear in justifying the wrongs of my actions and I do sincerely apologize, but…” finally the young girl turned to face the blonde, her deep emerald eyes lost between those of anger and of hurt, “I don’t pretend to regret what I have done nor am I ashamed of my actions.” Walking down the aisle between the desks, she quickly passed him, unlocked the door and left quickly slamming it shut behind her and disappearing into the corridor.
