Noda glanced down at the phone number, and then back up at Mari. "Thanks," he said, not sure what he thought about this. "I'll, uh, see you later then?" He started walking away, and waved a little to Mari. He did doubt he'd call him. It'd just be weird. As he walked off, he dialed Ana's number, and put the phone to his ear.

((Timeskip to about three hours later))

Noda couldn't believe it. Ana had broken up with him. And not just that- but she had broken up with him because she'd cheated on him. Noda had been floored when she told him; after all, they were dating. Yes, he wasn't actually attracted to her, but still, this was such a shock.

It hurt, strangely enough, it hurt a lot. He'd kind of thought of her as his best (and pretty much only) friend, and she'd done this to him? It just wasn't fair. And now Noda was stuck in his room, with no one to talk to about this. He'd lost his one real friend, and he felt terrible.

Sighing, Noda glanced at his arm, where Mari had put his phone number. It...couldn't hurt to call, just to see if he was willing to talk, would it? Frowning a little, Noda grabbed his phone, and dialed the number, almost certain that he was going to regret this.

Mari had been lying on the floor of his apartment, a newspaper in front of him. He needed a new job, after all. Although, it probably wasn't the best of ideas, to be lying on the floor; it was making him feel sleepy. He sat up, yawning, deciding that he should just go take a nap or something, when his phone began to ring.
The sound caused him to jump slightly; he couldn't think of anyone who would be calling him. He grabbed his cell phone off the coffee table, checking the number. He frowned, not recognizing it, assuming it was a telemarketer, or something.
"Hello?" he answered, folding up the newspaper and placing it on the coffee table (making sure it lined up with the edges).

Noda was ready to hang up, when Mari answered. Damn; he wasn't even sure if he wanted to call him. "Um, hey. It's, uh, it's Noda." He paused, not sure what to say now. "Do you mind- I know this is really weird and all but-" He paused again. "My girlfriend just broke up with me." Damn, how was he supposed to ask Mari if they could meet up and talk or something; it was so weird to ask this of someone he just met.

Mari couldn't help the grin that spread across his face, really; this was all just too perfect. "Really? That's awful," he cried, trying to make himself sound sympathetic. "Do you want me to, uh, come see you?"

"If you don't mind," Noda said, still feeling incredibly awkward about this, even if Mari seemed to be going with the flow. He didn't really want Mari coming here, to his home, since his mother was there, and she could be...too friendly at times. He loved her to death, but he didn't want Mari to get caught up in a conversation with her. "Do you mind if we meet somewhere? There's a cafe..." He gave Mari the address.

"Ah! Sure, that's fine," Mari said quickly, taking a pen from his pocket, and quickly writing the address on the palm of his hand, before he forgot it. "You wanna meet there now, I'm guessing?" he asked, smirking a little bit. The day had started out pretty sucky, but now it seemed pretty good.

Noda nodded. "If that's okay," he said, standing up. He grabbed his hooded sweater with his free hand, since he figured that Mari was up for it. He did seem really nice, so it was good that he called him. He pulled his sweater on, and left his room, waving to his mom as he passed her in the kitchen on his way out of the apartment.

"Yeah, it's fine," Mari said, checking what the address was (since he had already forgotten it). He frowned slightly; it would take a while for him to walk there. He quickly slipped on his shoes before he left his apartment, deciding that it would be much faster to take his bike.

"I'll just meet you there then," Noda said, wanting to end this conversation; phone calls required him to keep talking for a while, and he wasn't really the best conversationalist. "Bye." He hung up the phone, and shoved it into his back pocket. It wouldn't take him too long to get to the cafe; it was just around the corner from his home.

He walked quickly there, so he could order a coffee before Mari got there; he hoped that he'd get there before Mari, at least. In just a few moments, he reached the cafe, and there was no sight of the redhead. He ordered a cup of decaf, and then sat down on the sofa the cafe provided for its customers.

"Okay-" Mari said, and the next thing he knew, Noda had said bye and hung up. He stared at his phone for a moment before he closed it, shocked. True, he didn't seem very talkative, but that was kind of... sudden.
Shrugging it off as he stepped outside, Mari began to wonder if his bike even worked now; it had been working just fine last week, but it was such a fickle item, deciding to not work at the worst times. He quickly checked it over before he unlocked it from the bike rack, since it seemed just fine.
He biked as quickly as he could, so as not to keep Noda waiting. He kept checking his hand for the address, cursing under his breath when it seemed a bit more smudged from the last time he had looked (but really, it had barely changed).
He had finally reached the cafe, mostly out of breath. He quickly chained his bike to the closest bike rack, and entered the cafe, looking for Noda.

Noda had been watching the door, to see when Mari would come in. When he entered, Noda waved a little, to get his attention; it'd be easy to miss him, since he didn't really have very distinguishing features. He'd see Mari from a mile away, with that hair.
