- maddie looked over herself in her mirror. She hated this uniform. It was so stiff and uncomfortable, and she was sure her mom put enough starch in her vest to knock out a person. Sighing, Maddie walked away from her mirror, over to her bed, sitting down on it. She had a funny feeling about catering the party later in the night. Rubbing her turning stomach, the small brunet sighed.
"Maddie! Hurry up, Evan's going to be here soon!" Shooting a sour look at her door, she rolled her eyes. It was her mothers fault she had this job. A friend of a friends sister had a spot open, and her mother believed that Maddie needed to get out and meet more people. The thought alone made small brunette want to just go curl up somewhere and hide. Didn't anyone understand that some people weren't made to socialize? No, no, apparently not.
Sighing, Maddie reached over, picking up her jewelry box off her night table, opening it with care. It had been the last gift her best friend had given her before she left, and Maddie tried to take care of it. Too bad the hinges didn't agree, which is why she was opening it up like it was about to break. Pulling out her little pink bow earrings and her cupcake necklace. Rubbing the little pink cupcake, the faint smell of strawberries and chocolate floated up to Maddie's nose, making her smile. Good, she was definitely going to need that when the booze hounds started smelling drink and hanging all over her, demanding more alcohol.
A honking sound made Maddie jump, closing her jewelry box with a snap, wincing when the remaining hinge made a snapping sound. She'd check when she got home, but at the moment, she had to run. Grabbing her small bag, phone and keys, Maddie ran for the door, shouting incoherent goodbyes as she slammed the front door closed behind her.
Half way down the front steps, Maddie paused, suddenly reminding herself that she might have forgotten her phone. Grumbling under her breath, the small girl practically ripped open her bag, digging around in the contents stuffed inside. About to curse and head back inside, she heard a familiar chime, the girl going red in the face, realizing her phone was in hand. Letting out a sigh, she kept her head down, running up to the off white vehicle, opening the passenger door and flinging herself into the seat. "Hi Ev," she muttered softly, rubbing her arm, not looking at him. She was still embarrassed, and she knew he was grinning. This wasn't the first time she had done this in front of him, and he almost never let her live it down the rest of the night.
Truly, Evan was as cheeky as his twin brother, Kevin. Letting out a sigh though her nose, Maddie peaked up at him, groaning. "Oh, jeez Evan! Stop snickering and drive! You know how the Monore's get if we're late. Especially the old lady." Hitting his shoulder, with about as much force as a kitten pouncing on you, Maddie couldn't help but smile a little, pulling on her seat belt as her friend finally pulled away from the curb. Well, at least she wasn't working with someone she didn't know tonight, even if she still felt like something bad was going to happen.
