Name: Cade - - -
Age 20.
Height: 6' 2".
Qualities: Hot-tempered, flirt, caring, possessive.
Just a little history lesson: Cade, born on July 2nd, left home at age 10. His life until then had been what he considered normal, but not so much so for anyone else. He'd left for selfish reasons, after his mother's death. Wandering for months, he came across a castle-- which he didn't yet know would be where he would spend his life.

He was taken in by the king, and trained as a knight. Now, he's one of the head Knights; passing exam upon prestigious exam to get this title. He's very proud to be a Knight, but sometimes finds it tiring.

Family: None- though he considers the King family.
Other: Cade enjoys drawing, but this is something he's never told anyone. In his room, he has bunches of full sketchbooks.

Name: Aurelius, or just Aurel, for short
Age Sixteen
Height: 5'5"
Qualities: Playful, curious, kind.
Just a little history lesson: Aurel is the youngest child of the royal family, having both an elder brother and elder sister before him. As such, he doesn't have a lot of respect from most people, which he desperately wants to change. And scorns the fact that he has no power of his own, and must rely on the ability of others instead. But he knows how to take advantage of people.
Family: Father, the king. Mother, the queen. Brother, eldest prince. Sister, princess.
Extra?: Aurel loves to garden. His room is filled with beautiful flowered plants.

Prince of Summer. Prince of Love. Prince of Princes.

On the days that it was his duty to stroll through town, Aurelius couldn't help but feel like it was more of an excuse for his parents to ban him from the castle for a day, otherwise, the young prince would have never been bothered to leave his comfy royal home. His days were usually spent just lounging around in his room, playing games, eating, making things a mess. And he knew his parents weren't taking too kindly to the image their youngest child was giving to himself. So for about a month now, they had been giving him 'princely tasks', which was just a fancy way of saying chores that his older bother and sister didn't want to do themselves. Well, it was true that they were far more busy than he was, so that helped too. But in the end, he didn't understand what the point of it was to boot him out into the streets for a day, just to walk around and wave as people called out to him and bowed in his presence.

Well, sometimes, it was fun to walk around. There were always something interesting happening in the town square. So many people and businesses. It was always lively and carefree and fun. Exactly the kind of atmosphere he liked the best. But, at the same time, there really wasn't anything to keep him around for long either. He only came into town once a week, because if he came everyday, he'd get bored very quickly. The same people. The same businesses. All doing the same thing the previous day, and would do the day after that. It was fun, but repeated. Aurelius really couldn't stand being in the same slump. But with nothing else to do, he had to take what he could get. His brother was currently somewhere far away, another country, if he remembered correctly. And his sister was spending her time with her boyfriend to have any responsibilities. It just seemed unfair the everything was dumped on him like this.

It was just a little past noon now, but already, the prince was tired and wished to return home. He had been out here for a few hours now, had walked around, greeted and talked to a few people as he passed along. Some girls had been following behind him for the last few blocks. But again, he found himself bored. Nothing to look at. Nothing to do. And it was quite warm outside today, making him sweat a little. He just wanted to be back inside, curled up on his bed, and watching TV. Was that so much to ask for? Aurelius sighed and shook his head at himself. There was only one place left on his usual route around town, and that was on the outskirts. Tucked away from most of the hustle and bustle of busy living was the knight academy. Where the country's soldiers were raised and trained. Though luckily they were living in peaceful, conflict free times right now, their army of armor clad soldiers was ever increasing. And it had been placed upon him to check in every once in a while to see how things were going with their new recruits. Of course, he was not yet responsible for actually knighting the soldiers by himself, as that was left to the king instead. He was just supposed to report how things were going back to his father. Nothing fun at all.

A short walk later, he was there. The building was large and a bit older than most of the other buildings in town. The outside a little beaten up, but still in perfectly stable condition. Especially considering the training these men went through each day. He had seen a bit of it, and sometimes, it actually frightened him. Coming from a plushy background, the soldier's life seemed so much more rough and raw compared. Aurelius walked his way around the academy grounds, glancing around and noting things that had changed since the last time he had been there. Not much, at all. He even saw a few familiar faces whom he had met before. There were several groups of soldiers training out in the large training field in the back, as he watched them for a moment. All so powerful. It was weird, but each time Aurelius came here, he found himself wanting to stick around and watch them more and more. Was it odd that he suddenly found himself interested in something he hadn't before? He had been trained in fencing since just a little boy, but this was very different than what he was used to...

But before he could let himself get absorbed in watching, the prince pulled himself away. He was here on official business, after all. He had to speak with the captain to get a full update on everything that had been going on here. But the only problem was, he didn't see the captain anywhere in sight. He was usually outside training, or inside training. But no matter where Aurelius looked, he could find no sign of him. It was very odd. He turned around a corner, now even a little bit lost. He wasn't used to the twisting corridors of the building. The prince sighed at himself once more. How pathetic was he, to get lost like this. He turned around yet another corner, not even caring where he was heading, when he found himself colliding with someone a few seconds later. Aurelius bounced back and caught his balance on a nearby wall, as he looked up at the person he had bumped into.

"Oh, excuse me!" He gasped, blushing a little at himself for his negligence. "I wasn't sure of where I was going, I got a bit lost..." He admitted, as much as he didn't want to. But just having some stranger walking around on his own might seem suspicious. Even if he was the prince. "Oh, but could you tell me where the captain is? I need to talk to him before I go." The person he bumped into was obviously a soldier here, from the look of himself.

〓 〓 〓 ☆ "That innocent smile and the sweet voice that calls my name; I really don't hate it. Oh shut up, I'd never say it! After all, you're the Prince..."

『 My number one prince in the entire world.

Cade, who'd been wondering the hallways, sighed softly. Missing knights; ones whom were missing precisely because they didn't want to do today's training. He'd never imagined it up until this point, but being a new captain would be hard. "Hey, come out!" He called, to which he received no response. He didn't understand. Why, why, why was it so hard to just train? He thought it was pretty easy. Then again, he was one of the best fit knights.

When he came across a small boy, he growled, but straightened up quickly; it was the prince. He'd never met him personally, but it wasn't all that hard to tell. There was that, and the fact that he'd seen him once and awhile around the castle. "Speaking. I'm the captain; the old one had to take leave on account of getting his wife pregnant. It's nice to finally meet you, Prince Aurelius." He paused, to bow.

Looking down at the other, he offered his best smile; which he was sad to admit wasn't that grand. But hey, Cade thought he deserved props; this was the only person other than the king which he would probably ever smile for. "We don't have much to offer, but would you like some water? It's a rather hot day."

Cade, slightly amused with how flustered the other was, walked toward the other, trying to get him to follow. "And, what would you like to talk about? The condition of the army, I suppose?" He got the boy a glass of water, and handed it to him, scanning the room for the boys he'd been looking for earlier. Even though they were younger than most - age 12 - he couldn't cut them slack; they needed to train just as everyone else in order to stay here.

Out of habit, the man ran his hand through his hair, pushing the white-grey strands away from his face, revealing a scar which even he didn't like to look at. "I'm not too sure what you need to know, so you'll have to tell me." The captain didn't have time to show him all the ropes before he left, so Cade was just doing what he could.

Prince of Summer. Prince of Love. Prince of Princes.

"...I guess that makes sense that he's not here. I can usually find him by following the sound of his voice..." Now it made sense why he had not been able to find the captain, as he wasn't even here. The prince blinked a few times, looking at the person he had bumped into, who was now the new captain. Well, at least he was lucky enough to have bumped into him here, or else he might have been wandering around for much longer than he already had. He hadn't been expecting a new captain to have taken over in such a short time. This was something he would have to relay over to his father. Even though Aurelius was fairly sure that the king must have known about this already, for he was the one in charge of the academy in the first place...

Either way, the prince smiled and bowed back, as the new captain greeted him. "Pardon me for not realizing that earlier. I hadn't heard the news." He said, once again feeling his cheeks grow a little warm with embarrassment. He wasn't told very many things about their kingdom. Pretty much only the bare minimum for a prince his age. If he were the only child, or at least the oldest, he would know everything about every inch of his kingdom by this point. But there was still much that was being kept from him. Aurelius started to pout at the thought, but quickly pushed the thoughts away from his mind again, as the captain had offered him a glass of water. And considering his mouth felt like it was full of cotton right now, that sounded like a good idea. "Yes!" He quickly replied, face lighting up a bit; but quickly thought that his gesture had been rude, and went to correct him. "...I mean, yes, please..." Aurelius finished with a another pout. He always had to be respectful of the people he talked to and always remember his manners as a prince. Otherwise, it would give him a bad image to the people who looked up to him and his family.

He followed after the other as they made their way deeper into the academy. Aurelius glancing at everything curiously as they continued to walk. Some soldiers stopping to bow to him as he walked past, making him a bit flustered. He turned his attention back to the captain, taking a moment to study him from the back, before nodding his head. "Mm... yeah. Things like that..." He replied back absentmindedly and being very vague. Well, the other captain usually knew just what to tell him as soon as he arrived, talking about all sorts of things. But he never really knew what it all meant. He was just a messenger of sorts. Or even a parrot. Just repeating back the things he was told to someone else. It was the only thing he was useful for, after all... Once he was handed the glass of water, the prince happily accepted it and proceeded to gulp the whole thing down at once, making a happy, satisfied sigh at the end. "Ah~" He allowed himself to relax a moment and cool down a bit from the blazing sun outside.

Aurelius glanced back up, just in time to see just a flash of a scar on the captain's face. He couldn't help but gasp at seeing it, but quickly turned away, hoping to not make it obvious that he had seen it just now. Though no he felt somehow bad. Like he had seen something he probably shouldn't have. It made him feel a little sad. "Uhm, well, I just need to know the important things... Like, recruit numbers, budgets costs, any news from the knights outside of the kingdom, uhm... You know, things like that." He really wasn't sure himself, so anything he could say would have been enough, probably. There probably wasn't anything worth mentioning anyway.

Ignoring the gasp, but taking note of the light blush on the other's face, Cade began to speak, "About the... Condition? Mm, alright. Well, we have a few newcomers; they're reluctant to be trained, because of how young they are. However, a few of the knights have left the academy for good- er, should I say have been kicked out? Just two; they weren't exactly... friendly to our - er, your - kingdom." He was avoiding the subject of what they'd actually done. That was the hardest. He knew he should have told him everything, but he couldn't bring himself to tell the other about such a violent crime. The deaths of many were caused by that man, and his accomplice, in such a way that even scared him to think about. He would tell the king, later; tell him to watch out for such a person near the castle - Cade assumed that was his next destination. And then he realized that, s**t, the prince lived there too.

He sighed uneasily, and pinched the bridge of his nose. Something about telling him that was hard, even though he knew he had to. "Well, y'see... He, he was a murderer. The king banished him, but, we found him wandering a just yesterday; on one of our rounds. We're worried he might be after you or your father. So... I think, as Captain, I'll be escorting you home tonight." He remembered the old captain escorting the eldest prince home before. He'd thrown a fit, saying he was old enough to go on his own. Cade just hoped that he wouldn't have to deal with that with Aurelius.

But of course, if he did, Cade would just have to deal and explain the reasoning. The prince was not getting hurt; not under his watch. Not while Cade was living is more accurate, though. He got himself a drink of water, and refilled the other's glass, just in case, then sat with him at the kitchen table. "As for other events... Well, the person who normally delivers our food was sick this week, so we're low on provisions. We also will soon need a new training area, but that's not too important at the moment; it's still functioning after all." There was probably more to discuss, but he gave himself a few minutes to think first. Taking a small sip of water, Cade unbuttoned his shirt, not able to stand the heat anymore. It felt weird - was this unpresentable? - but he'd just come in from training in the hot sun, and the inside wasn't exactly the coolest of temperatures, either.

He smiled at the younger boy, and let out a soft noise of thinking, before shutting hie eyes. "Budgets... We're low. We have almost nothing on terms of supplies anymore. We have a big feast coming up, though - remind the king of that, please - so we need to get our funds as soon as possible." And then his mind wandered to the last thought; any news from knights in different kingdoms. His eyes opened reluctantly. Cade tilted his head, looking out the open window at the men who were still out training. He kind of felt bad for them. Just a little.

"As for knights from other kingdoms... We haven't received ones from the West Kingdom yet. It's been a few months, so they're concerned something may have happened. But we couldn't bring ourselves to just march over there, so we're trying to get ahold of the king. We don't know if they're alive or dead; we're just hoping for the best." Cade wasn't sure what else there was to talk about, so he let the other have time to process all of what he'd just said.

Prince of Summer. Prince of Love. Prince of Princes.

Kicked out? Soldiers could be kicked out of the academy? Even though it sounded plausible, he had never really thought about it until now. He didn't know how much the knight academy was different from just regular school that everyone else went to. He had heard about the few who found the path to being a soldier too hard and dropped out, but never kicked out... And from the way he had been speaking, it seemed it wasn't as simple as being booted for bad grades or anything like that. Especially when he explained it as 'they weren't friendly to the kingdom'... That just made it sound so ominous. He seemed uneasy to say more. But Aurelius was curious to know, to know something at least, and would have pressured him into speaking more. But in the end, he had decided to tell him about the situation on his own. And hearing this for the first time shocked him quite a bit.

He had never been told about any murders or murderers in the kingdom before. But now it had made sense when awhile back, his castle went on lock down. For several weeks, he couldn't leave the castle on his own. He was always escorted and watched closely. He had felt so suffocated and hated it, never knowing the reason why. That whole time, he thought it was just because his parents didn't trust him, or were being too overbearing on him. But now he knew it must have been because they were worried about the man they banished, and how he might have been targeting the royal family. Aurelius felt a little hurt that his parents hadn't told him something so important about that. He was still young, but more mature than they saw him as. He needed to know important things like this. He was a prince of the kingdom. He could take it. But apparently, his parents didn't agree.

The prince was visibly upset now. He wondered if his older siblings had known about this. Or if it was just him who had never been notified. But, he couldn't be too upset. His parents were protecting him. He couldn't be mad at them for that. If they had only let him know, then he wouldn't have been upset. But perhaps if they had told him, he would have been too scared to leave the castle ever again... "I see." Aurelius simply replied with a long sigh. He quickly took a seat at the table to relax easily and have a bit more of water as he thought about what he should do about this. He was going to have to talk to his parents about that later. It was sad that he had to learn this from a complete stranger, rather than them. But at least he knew what was going on now. He had a lot of information on the situation. He could try his best to stay in touch and not be left out this time.

Once the other had begun to talk about the state of the academy, Aurelius brought out his phone from his pocket and began to messily scribble the things they would need on it. Just as a reminder, since he was sure he wouldn't be able to remember everything on his own. A note for more food, and possibly another deliverer. A note about expanding the training field perhaps sometime in the future. They would need to lay foundation down and clear out space. But it wouldn't have taken long at all. He was nodding his head a few times as he continued to draw on the screen with his finger, eyes glued downward the whole time. "My father mentioned that too. But he said he wanted to build an arena, I think." He said with a little laugh and shake of his head. When he had finished, he looked up, but was surprised to suddenly see the captain with his shirt unbuttoned in front of him. Aurelius nearly flipped out of his chair as he struggled to quickly look away; face now completely red and over heating. He hadn't been expecting that. Though he wasn't sure why he was getting so flustered around him so easily. He had seen other bare male chests before, and it wasn't like it was weird or anything...

"U-uh... Anyway..." He started to say, trying to hide the shaking part of his voice. He spoke softly and made sure his eyes were adverted completely away from the other. Hoping to not make it so obvious as to what he had just done. "O-oh, right... The feast... My father put me in charge of that this year... I guess I have a lot to prepare for then..." Which meant he would be having to meet up with the captain more often to make sure everything was ready by the time the day would come. Even though his father had told him the job would be fairly simple on his end, he still wasn't so sure about that. Aurelius wrote down a few more notes about the feast and the new captain before closing his phone again. And there was also the troubling of their soldiers missing in the West Kingdom, but that was something else he was sure his father knew of already. Either way, he wouldn't fail to mention it.

With all this information, it seemed like he was done with his task. He had gotten what he had come here for, so it was time to head back home. The prince drank the rest of his water and stood up, bowing to the captain. "Thank you. You've told me just what I needed to hear. I will be sure to relay this information to my parents immediately. And now I must be off." He turned to leave, now heading back to his castle on the other side of town. It would be a bit of a walk through the sun again, but he didn't mind it so much anymore.

Cade watched the other closely, smirking. Geeze.. You're just about the cutest thing I've ever laid my eyes upon, Prince... He thought, and shook his head as he watched the other. He was glad to hear news from the King's end. The old captain always told him everything anyway, but he was excited, for once, to hear it one on one.

"Ah, Prince. I'd really... I don't want you to go home alone. I know you probably hear that a lot, and are probably fed up with it, but I really... don't trust that guy. Let me take you home, okay? I just have to put someone in charge. I'll buy you something to snack on; you're probably hungry, too, right?" He smirked, and stood, looking down at the younger boy. He wasn't really trying to tease him - okay, maybe a little - Cade was just genuinely worried. He looked around the room yet again, and finished his water, before bringing both glasses to the sink. Sighing softly - he'd have to remember to have someone do the dishes later - he looked at the full sink. He really didn't feel like doing them for the third week in a row. But he'd worry about that later. He turned around, and led the prince out of the building, before calling to one of the Senior knights. He checked for his keys, and his phone, and waited for the other to come over.

As he would never trust someone else with the task of taking the prince home, he was just going to give him orders on what to do while he was gone. "Just, find the boys. If they don't cooperate, give them cleaning duty- you know how that works. Meanwhile, make sure everyone else keeps training. I want to see you all outside when I get back. After that, I'll prepare dinner, okay?" He always cooked for them; he was pretty much the only one that knew how. He enjoyed it, but would never tell anyone that. He thought it was... kind of embarrassing.

"Where do you want to go?" Cade asked, looking down at the young prince yet again as the third man walked away, barking orders to the other knight. He would thank them for their cooperation later, but at the moment, he needed to get the prince home. And get some food, as he'd forgotten to eat breakfast that day. It was partially the reason why he had offered food, but that was also a secret. He pulled at the fabric of his unbuttoned shirt, trying to fan himself off with it; the heat was getting to him yet again.

"You've probably been to most of the places in the main town square, but what about the restaurants closer to the outskirts? I can call your dad and notify him that you'll be a bit late - he's taken a liking to me, and trusts me very well. Plus, I figure they've probably been strict on you lately... You should do something nice. You look so tired." He was worried, yeah. But Aurelius was his prince. The whole kingdom's prince. And to be able to spend time with what he considered to be the 'precious jewel' of the whole kingdom; he would be honoured. Cade's face flushed slightly at that thought, and he ran his fingers through his hair again, mostly in an attempt to cover his red cheeks. He could probably play it off as the heat. But he didn't want to have to. Still, as he pulled his hand away, he could feel his face continue to heat, but he still smiled confidently down at the other.

Prince of Summer. Prince of Love. Prince of Princes.

Before the prince could leave the room, he stopped and turned around, once again facing the captain as he spoke out, voicing his concern about him walking all the way back to the castle on his own. Aurelius frowned. He really didn't like having a royal escort all the time. With so many knights following him, watching his every move. Making sure that anything he even touched wasn't some kind of trap to harm or kill him. There was a thing about being cautious, but there was also a thing about being too cautious and paranoid. He didn't like being followed around at all. Not by an army of knights, not by one. He just wanted to be left alone by himself, and to have the freedom to do what he wanted, without someone interfering.

The prince pouted at the older male. "But... I already came all the way here on my own just fine... I can make it back home on my own..." He whined a bit, but it didn't seem he would be able to change his mind. At least, he really did seem concerned if he would be okay or not on his own. Either he was doing it, because he really felt that way. Or was just worried about himself and what the king might think, if something had happened to the prince as he left the academy on his own. But in the end, Aurelius had to give in. If only because there had been a promise of food on the way home. There was no way he could ever turn down an offer for food. His stomach growled just thinking about it, before he turned away in embarrassment again. "Well, I guess..." He nodded his head. He would allow for himself to be escorted home, just this one time. But only because he was a bit hungry from his long walk around town, and needed some energy and more time to rest.

Aurelius waited patiently as the captain gave orders to another person for while they would be gone. He wondered for how long he would in charge as captain, and what he did before he took that position. It made him a bit curious, but was too shy in asking something like that. It seemed rude. Even though he was used to coming to the academy a few times, he never had really seen this person before. At least, never really noticed him until now. Though now he was starting to wonder how he could have missed noticing him all this time... The prince shook the embarrassing thoughts from his mind and smiled a bit as the other had finished giving his orders and they were ready to leave. He was a little surprised at how much he seemed to be willing to take care of him and thinking about him. How he thought he might be bored of the places to eat in town or still tired from his walk around. But again, he was sure he was just worrying over him to save himself, in case anything should go bad.

And he had wondered if he spoke the truth when he said that the king trusted him that much. Especially with the prince he had not met until just a few minutes ago. The prince smiled a little as thought ran across him. "Okay. Call my father and tell him I'll be spending the rest of the day under your care, okay? If I'm with you, I'm sure he wouldn't mind what we do together..."

The phonecall with the King was short but sweet. "Yes. I understand. ... No, it's fine, really; I offered. Yes. ... Call me, if so. Good bye, for now." He smiled fondly, and shut his eyes tight, and then opened them, looking down at the prince. "Well, you ready? We got our permission; so I'll show you some really nice places. They're small, but not too bad." He noticed the boy's look; it seemed half quizzical and half amused.

"Mm, curious? You can ask anything, you know. I really don't mind. After all, you're the prince..." He grabbed the other's hand, and pulled it close to his face, kissing the knuckles. "But, I bet I know what it's about. Why he trusts me?" The look on the other's face gave it away; it was a yes. "I left home when I was ten. My mom died, and my dad was gone all the time - never even put up missing posters 'til I was twelve. But after a few months of wandering, I stumbled across the castle. I'd never been there before. We were too busy. My mom was a chef in a restaurant, and my dad worked with the security of the castle, but I never saw it. When I met the king, he'd recognized me right away. He thought my dad knew, so he just let me stay - under the condition that I was trained to be a knight. Here I am, ten years later, captain of this unit. So not only to your father," He placed a light kiss on the other's knuckles yet again, "But to you; I owe my life." His speech finally finished, and he smiled lightly at the other.

Cade led the younger boy away from the academy, walking with him to the small section of town which not many knew about. He smiled softly at the people around him; the little kids flocking to his feet. "Uncle Cade, Uncle Cade! Who'd 'ya bring with 'ya?" A little girl called from his feet, and he smiled.

"This is... a new friend of mine. Isn't that right, Aurelius?" He put his fingers to his lips, looking at the other boy sheepishly. He couldn't have the children finding out the prince was here. They'd go and tell everyone they saw, and that would be bad. So he continued leading the smaller boy through the small district; past various shops, until he reached his favourite little cafe.

"It's not much, but here it is. ... I'm Cade, by the way. It's nice to officially meet you. Hm, what else would you like to do? We do have all day..." He smiled toward the other, and got them a table by the window, sitting down with him, and not even bothering to pick up a menu. He knew what he wanted; it was the same thing every time he went there. They had good taste in what they served, though; most of the foods were pretty delectable.

"I'll have a raspberry iced tea," He said, looking up at the waiter. And that's where his weakness came into play; his weakness for sweet things, such as the prince he adored so much.

『I promise I'll be by your side forever,
So just keep smiling.
I'll never leave you, Prince.』

Prince of Summer. Prince of Love. Prince of Princes.

Aurelius listened carefully over the one sided phone conversation. He was curious to know what his father was possibly saying to this idea. He thought for sure, his father would object or pass on certain conditions to allow him to take the prince around the town. He usually didn't let him leave the castle without any less than five soldiers. But suddenly just one was enough? It made him very curious. He must have done something to instill so much confidence in the king to allow him to do this so suddenly, and not have the king question any of it. But in the end, he was happy for that. Of course, just a few minutes ago, there was nothing more he would rather do than just go home and laze around like a house cat. But he was kind of glad that his plans for the rest of the day had been changed. Even if it meant walking around out in the open. He was kind of glad to have the company today.

"Well, I guess that was easy." He said, with a little laugh. Also feeling kind of disappointed that his father didn't react in the way he had been expecting him to. But, oh well. The prince blushed as he gazed up into the captain's eyes after he had kissed his hand, then quickly looked away again and bit down on his lower lip nervously. He wasn't used to such gestures. People always bowed to him instead, or just simply shook his hand. But never did anything like that before. And somehow, he had figured out what it was that had been on his mind this whole time. Either he was a mind reader, or it was just obvious from the look on his face. He was sure it was probably the latter. Aurelius listened as he explained how he had come to know his father, the king, even before he was enrolled in knight school. Because of that, he was here now with him. Though the prince shook his head, not thinking that it was any of his doing that he was saved. But either way, he was happy.

The story had left him with a twinge of sadness at the end, as well. But he tried not to dwell on it for too long. He didn't want to make it obvious that it was bothering him, so Aurelius just smiled instead and followed along after him. He was quite enjoying the walk of theirs together. Even if he was slightly embarrassed about holding hands with the older male. But somehow, that made him happy, too. It kinda seemed like their hands fit together perfectly. ...But it was probably just his imagination. And Aurelius was surprised when a small group of children started to flock around the captain as they passed by, all excitedly calling him by the affection name of uncle. It was pretty cute. He wouldn't have guess that a soldier could be so popular with small ids. But when some of the kids had started to ask who he was, the young prince couldn't help but feel insulted.

"What!? You don't know who I am!? I'm the pri-" But he cut himself off upon seeing the gesture towards him to keep it a secret. Aurelius pouted, and nodded his head a bit, playing along with the little white lie. "Yeah, I'm just a friend visiting... I'm not from around here in this part of town, really..." He understood why it should have been kept a secret, but his pride was a little hurt, as well. He was always overshadowed by his smart older brother and beautiful older sister. He was just the youngest prince. Nothing more. And even little kids didn't know who he was. It seemed like if he never showed his face, he would easily be forgotten about. The prince was feeling a little sorry for himself, but that changed once they arrived at the place the captain had brought him to. It was a very small cafe, compared to the ones back in the town square. But it looked so cute and cozy. It looked like a nice place. He longer felt sad as they entered inside and sat down at a table.

Aurelius was too busy gawking at everything excitedly to pay much attention to anything else, though he had picked up that the male introduced himself as Cade. He smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Cade." Though, now that he thought about it, wasn't this a bit... weird? Suddenly heading off to a cafe in a unfamiliar part of town with someone he had just met? What if people started talking and spreading rumors? Rumors had a bad habit of getting out of control and rather nasty quickly. They might even try to say that he was on a date or something... He glanced around at the cafe, suddenly feeling very self conscious about the whole thing. It was just an innocent day together. That's all. Even though it was a bit odd, there was nothing wrong about it, right...? Aurelius looked across the table to Cade, staring at him for a moment, before quickly picking up the menu in front of him and hiding himself behind it. He couldn't believe how embarrassed he kept getting today. This wasn't like him usually. And it only started the moment he had bumped in Cade back at the academy...

When the waiter came by, he gave his order of a strawberry milkshake, a burger and fries. And upon handing the menu back to him, proceeded to look down at himself or out the window. Anywhere, just as long as he wasn't staring at Cade, at least.

〓 〓 〓 ☆ "That innocent smile and the sweet voice that calls my name; I really don't hate it. Oh shut up, I'd never say it! After all, you're the Prince..."

『 My number one prince in the entire world.
I know how to treat you like that,
Don't I?』

"I'll have the same, actually." But this wasn't the best part. The best part was going to be dessert. He watched the boy countless times; it was easy to tell what he was feeling. Then again, Cade usually found it easy to tell emotions. He could never understand why, it was just... easy for him. When the waiter walked away, he looked back at the prince, smiling at him softly. "... I've met you a few times, y'know? Sometimes, when you came, I'd be with the captain... But that was awhile ago. I suppose you're... probably surprised, right? About this random invitation or whatever. But... You've... You've always been my favourite. When I came here, you were six, and just about the cutest kid ever. And as you grew up, I just sat back and wondered how people didn't understand how I felt. Because I thought... You were the best. Your brother and sister never liked me anyway. Your brother was the one who gave me this scar. He thought I was trying to get your father's money. But I... actually don't think I could live the royal life. I've lived like this my whole life."

To Cade, Aurelius didn't really seem talkative. Not yet, at least. He tried to answer the other's unanswered questions as best he could. He knew he was probably boring the other, but he couldn't help it. He'd wanted, for some time now, ... well, he'd wanted this. To have at least one chance to get to know the prince, which he secretly promised his life to. A promise he'd never make to anyone else. When the waiter brought the food, and set it on the table, he smiled. "Thank you. It's nice seeing you again." He smiled, as she walked away mumbling something about how she was delusional, because that couldn't be the prince. And how she needed rest. He smirked, and shook his head, taking a sip of his tea.

"And what about you, prince? What else would you like to know? Or perhaps, am I allowed to ask you things?" He smiled sweetly at the other, as he picked up one of his fries and took a bite off the end. He was proper; chewing with his mouth closed, just a smile present on his face. And no matter how normally hot-tempered he was, why wasn't he feeling like that now? He only felt warm, and happy. It was weird - feeling that way. But he liked it, if only because it was the prince. He wasn't sure if the other had anything else he was curious about, but it sure seemed that way.

"Ah- but... Don't feel bad for me, y'know? About my family... I mean, I chose to leave home, right? And I'm fine, now. I'm here, aren't I? Besides... If it wouldn't have been for all these things, I wouldn't have met you. And that... truly would have been a shame. After all, who would take you out to dinner in places like this, hmm?" He questioned, and took another bite of the fry he was holding. He looked down at it, then up at the prince, suddenly nervous. He could feel his face heating again, but he tried to ignore it.

He ate, slowly, taking small bites, and small sips of iced tea. Everyone always made fun of him for the way he ate; he was 'too mannered.' Everyone had always told him - ridiculed him - that he ate like a girl. He frowned upon thinking of that, but quickly wiped that away. Now wasn't the time to be sad. It was the time to be excited. Of course, it wasn't like this day would last forever, no matter how much he wished it. He couldn't keep the prince to himself despite his wish to. Though he knew he would be seeing him much more these next two weeks at least; with the festival preparations and then clean up committee. Cade had done most of the festival and feast preparations for the previous captain last year, so he knew how it worked. Turns out, the one last year was a bigger success than the one before; nearly everyone in the kingdom came. But hey, he didn't like to brag. Lips turned upward for the umpteenth time that night, he continued looking at the prince; staring into his eyes happily.

『I promise I'll be by your side forever,
So just keep smiling.
I'll never leave you, Prince.』

Prince of Summer. Prince of Love. Prince of Princes.

Despite still feeling a little bit awkward and shy, Aurelius turned his attention once again to Cade as he began to speak again; talking about how they had met before. He had been wondering that for awhile now, but thought it wasn't possible. Maybe it was because they had never been introduced before. And when he usually stopped by at the academy, it was a very brief visit that he didn't put much effort into remembering for later. But now he felt bad about it even more, since Cade had remembered him this whole time instead. But maybe that was mostly just because he was a prince, and knowing the prince was kind of important.

But then he started to talk about how when they first met, and how he was his favorite. The prince's face immediately deepened in color and he looked down once more; fidgeting nervously in his seat at hearing such a confession. He did remember going there when he was young. He went there a bit unwillingly with his father, to introduce himself to the captain and all the knights. He wouldn't have guess that even back then, Cade would have remembered him for such a long time when they hadn't even spoken or even met.

He honestly didn't know what to say. Or how to even react to hearing something like this. But then, he heard the worst part of it. How his older bother had given Cade the scar on his face. And it was at that moment he realized what had happened. He remembered, quite a long time ago, his brother was suddenly sent to another country after an incident had happened. His parents had told him he was studying abroad, but he later found out that he had been sent away because his brother had gotten into a fight, and the king thought it was best if he separated the two people involved. Apparently, it had been a sensitive subject for the king, so no one outside of his family and the other person involved knew about it. And they swore to always keep it a secret. His brother suddenly moving away and the secrecy of it all... Could it have been that incident that Cade got his scar from? When his brother, the eldest prince, attacked him in false accusation?

It all made sense now. And as Aurelius looked across the table at the soldier, a deep sadness began to well up inside him. He knew his brother was very protective of his family and the kingdom. He was, of course, going to be king one day, and was always doing what he could to help that. But attacking someone like that was just going too far. No matter who it was. It was just too much. The prince was frowning the whole time. A look of regret now clouding over his face, as he bowed his head deeply towards Cade; head almost low enough to touch the table that separated them. "I... am deeply sorry for the actions of my brother against you. He was foolish to accuse someone of something like that. I understand that he wants to protect our family with all of his might, but something like that is unforgivable. If I had known about this sooner, I would have done something to help you. I'm sorry... Please accept my apologies on behalf of my older brother."

Though he had been told not to feel so bad, after hearing this shocking news, the prince's stomach remained in a twisted position either way. With a somber look on his face, he continued to look out of the window the whole time until their food had arrived. Though, as much as he hated to say it, he wasn't very much in the mood to eat anymore. But he still did, if only not to make himself rude for the treat he was given. Aurelius ate slowly and a bit sloppily for a prince. He was much too distressed to be thinking about his table manners much right now. All this information his own family was keeping from him. He felt so out of the loop. Like he wasn't even a part of the family at all. Even Cade probably knew more than he did. It just wasn't fair. He was never told anything. He was already so fed up with it. Aurelius sighed heavily. He still felt upset about everything, but also didn't want to seem like a total downer. He was supposed to be enjoying his time spent with the captain. He tried to cheer up a little for him, at least.

"...The food here is really good." He said, a bit softly, and still not looking up from his side of the table. He was kind of scared to look at Cade now. Every time that he did, his eyes wandered over the scar he could see, and it made him cringe to think about it. "I'm really glad you brought me here. Thank you."

『 My number one prince in the entire world.

Cade could tell he'd made things a bit awkward. He stifled a laugh with his hand, still smiling at the prince that was in front of him.How do you even manage being that cute? He wondered, hopefully not out loud. That would have been embarrassing. Of course, he would try to say he was talking about something else, but he knew it would be a blatant lie. He had barely known the boy for an hour, and he was already this taken in by him; stolen by the prince's grasp.

"It's fine, y'know? It was my fault, anyway. I should have been more careful. I didn't mean to seem suspicious... I was just little. But really, I don't hold a grudge against any of you. Even your brother and I have somewhat become friends." He noticed that the prince was taking all of these stories in shock - maybe it wasn't such a good idea to tell him any more? Or at all? ... But he was the prince. And he was sixteen. In Cade's eyes, he should have already known all this information plus some. And he was going to see to it that the other got that. It would be a shocker when he became king; if he wasn't prepared. Sighing softly, he finished his food. "You look down.. I'm sorry if I ruined your day. Are you in the mood for dessert?" He asked, ordering a slice of strawberry shortcake for himself. It was his favourite thing here; it's why he'd kept coming back. While he waited for the boy, he pulled a small sketchbook out of the bag he'd had with him - it had all of the knight's logbooks - and began sketching the other; making sure he wasn't paying attention before doing so.

Cade did it a lot. He drew the other a lot. He could never figure out why, except that he seemed to catch so much of Cade's attention. He always had. Ever since they were little. He sighed softly, and as he finished the drawing - it helped calm him down, for some reason - he pulled the drawing out. This was what was left on the page, next to the sketch: Dear prince, cheer up! Where's that always present smile? I know it's in there, somewhere! - Cade He slipped it carefully into the pocket of the other's jacket, making sure he wouldn't find it until later, and waited to see if the boy wanted any dessert.

As the waiter scribbled down their order and left yet again, Cade let out a heavy sigh, and brought things back to business. Well, for him at least. "Cade... They don't tell you much, do they? Your parents? If you ever want to know anything, you can ask me. Some things... I won't be able to tell you. But I don't want you to be out of the loop, as the future king of our country. How about this. Every week, before you come, I'll write you... a letter. It's easy to keep private, and I won't put my name on it. My handwriting is girly, so they can just assume it was from a girl that likes you. Anyway... In this letter, it'll contain a little bit of history- something that I'm sure they haven't informed you of. In return for these letters, all you have to do is spend some time with me. I won't be upset if you decline, but, I think it's a good deal, no?" He smiled at the boy, and took another sip of his iced tea, which he was enjoying so much.

"And now, I'll stop rambling so you can think about all that, okay? I'll... ask you things instead. If that's alright, I mean. But I don't want to know you as just the prince. You've been cooped up too much at that castle. So not only may you consider me your own, personal night... But you may consider me a friend, too." Cade's smile widened yet again. He didn't really have any friends, either, despite that he lived with near a hundred men. He thought, though, that Aurelius and himself would have a wonderful friendship.

『I promise I'll be by your side forever,
So just keep smiling.
I'll never leave you, Prince.』
