Natalia busily scrubbed away the crumbs on the dishes while contemplating the situation and how she had what she wanted yet it didn't seem enough or worth much now. She had been hoping her brother would come back today and he had. Only he had brought with him a new household guest that might arouse more problems for what had already turned into an unsteady situation for everyone in the household. Worse, her brother still seemed peeved and despite what she had been hoping their heart felt apologies to each other had not happened yet. She didn't know why she was holding it off. Normally she would have just said sorry for her actions to get over whatever spat they had whether or not he decided to return the actions and then everything would be alright. This time, however, it would be nice if he did explain that he was sorry first. For once in their lives it would be just so extremely nice if he did that one kind and polite gesture. Nope. He simply set down his dish and walked out of the kitchen, not bothering to ask how the rest of the night had gone, to explain why he had stayed out in the woods and gotten himself caught by gypsies instead of coming back, and he hadn't even simply thanked her for the meal!
It took her a moment to realize how hard and how long she had been scrubbing the plate and it was only after the material gave a protesting screech as she scratched it with the rough scrub brush did she really become aware of the awful scratches against its surface. She dropped it into the soapy dish water as if it were a poisonous snake and reached to turn off the water. Her pale green eyes stared down at the result of her careless work and she frowned a little, only glad to know it was just one dish that she had ruined. The others were clean and safe, ready to be put away unlike this poor victim of her contained feelings that would now have to be thrown out. How unlike me... She dried off her damp hands on a dish rag and began to put the intact dishes back in the cabinet before moving to place the scraped one in the garbage can. She reprimanded her clumsy work and reminded herself not to get so distracted next time.
She heard the doorbell ring and then her name called from the entry room and made the assumption that Maria had arrived. " I'll be right there!" the young woman called, closing the cabinet doors and running over to the chair to grab the black peacoat she had chosen to use on the cold winter day. She pulled the garment on, shrugging it into a comfortable position and fastening the buttons with her quick and nimble fingers. Talia made her way out of the kitchen and into the room where Cameron was waiting next to the open door. She felt nervous about her first encounter with the woman she had been excited to meet and hoped to make a good impression as she stopped beside the vampire and looked to meet eyes with Maria. Her face seemed friendly, young but aged with more years of knowledge than herself, and motherly. She couldn't help but smile kindly as she said, " Hello, I'm Natalia. You must be, Maria? It's so wonderful to meet you at last and be able to thank you in person for the clothes. They were such a wonderful gift."
She looked to Cameron and then back to Maria. " So, uhm, I guess we should probably get to the marketplace, huh?" she suggested, before briefly turning back to the young man beside her. " Make sure Nathan doesn't get into anymore trouble, please? And do tell him where I'm off to." Talia said, smiling softly, before stepping outside beside the woman she was to go shopping with. It was chilly this morning but the cold only bothered her uncovered legs because the coat kept her upper body nice and warm. Now that she was outside the excitment of hanging out with another woman sounded much more appealing. Not as bothersome as spending time surrounded by men who as charming as they could be simply weren't as relatable.
