Now Hazel's eyebrows shot up. That was the second time and it was in clear response to what she had said. Then she looked over to Alec when Lexie pointed to him. "It's okay, Papa's just asleep," she cooed to her. "He's perfectly fine." She lightly bounced her in her arms.

"Uhhhh--" Lexie leaned forward in Hazel's arms, take me, stamped on the sound she was making. "Da da!"

"Lexie, be careful," Hazel admonished her, gently. She then walked over to the bed with Lexie, and sat down beside Alec. "We have to be quiet though," she whispered to the little girl.

Lexie seemed to understand and stopped making noises. She reached down and gently patted Alec's hair, grey eyes wide, looking at his slightly squished-up face. "Da da" she said softly. "Ah luv oo Da da." Then she looked over the side of the bed, towards Jadyn's basket. "Ah luv oo Ja-da."

Jadyn was sleeping peaceful, seemingly oblivious to his sister's stride in speech and comprehension.
"You're a good girl, Lexie," Hazel said, and kissed the little girl's head. Wow, Lexie was telling her family that she loved them. And she seemed to understand what that meant.

Lexie cooed in response, waving her little arms a bit, then turned her attention back to Hazel, reaching for her chest and giving a hungry grunt. It seemed like her moment was over.

Hazel chuckled a bit, and adjusted her held on Lexie, so the girl could feed. Well, some things were slow to change, Hazel supposed. She light stroked Lexie's back as the girl drank from her.

As Lexie got fed, Alec sleepily groaned, then woke, looking around. He smiled at Hazel and Lexie as he sat up, and he gently reached over to pick up Jadyn, feeling a great surge of affection for the boy.

Jadyn made a couple noises as Alec lifted him up, but settled once Alec had him in his arms, and turned his face into Alec's chest, going back to sleep.
"Good morning," Hazel said, smiling over to him. She then looked down at Lexie and waited for her to finish. "Hey, listen," she said to Alec again. "Lexie, I love you," she said to her daughter.

Lexie gave her this look like--"We've already been over this." But decided to play along anyway. "Ah luv oo Ma ma." She then looked at Alec and said, cocking her head. "Ah luv oo Da Da. I luv oo Ja da."

Jadyn just gave her a little grunt in reply.
"Aren't you a smart girl?" Hazel asked, smiling down at her and then glancing over to Alec, to see his reaction to Lexie's amazing speech ability.

Alec's mouth hung slightly open. "That can't be...that can't be right. Can it?" He asked, lightly rocking Jadyn. "She too young. Wow..." he stared off into space a little bit, before coming back to himself. You're very smart Lexie. You too Jadyn." He gently hugged the baby, patting his hair a little. "I guess its only fair, with how you can just zoom objects to you like a little human magnet."

"We have two amazing kids," Hazel said, smiling down at them and rocking Lexie.
Jadyn scrunched up his face and made a noise that seemed to say he was more interested in sleeping than in praise just then.

"Oh, all right, sorry for waking you up little buddy." Alec put him back in his basket, stroking his son's hair one last time before turning back to Hazel. Lexie had fallen back asleep in her arms, drooling a little.

Hazel smiled down at the little girl and then put her back in the basket, so she could rest. She then looked over to Alec with a soft smile. "Look at what we made," she whispered to him.
