It was a well-known fact in the kingdom that the queen's mother had been searching for a suitable husband for her daughter for quite some time. It was also well-known that Kara had rejected every suitor almost immediately. She wanted nothing to do with the noble suitors, feeling they were all too close to her powerhungry mother. So when Jadyn Terrell had received a letter signed by the queen herself, as well as her mother, summoning him to court, it would have been quite surprising for him.
The day had finally arrived when Kara would meet Jadyn for real. She had seen him at court and around the palace and city, but they hadn't yet been formally introduced. She sat on her throne, wearing one of her nicest gowns, with her mother, her regent, beside her, waiting for Jadyn to arrive. This was a good day for her; her hands weren't shaking and she didn't feel too weak. She hoped her good fortune would continue, and that Jadyn wouldn't be as awful as the nobles she'd rejected before him.
